This apartment complex is a lovely place to live. You can raise a family or live here on your own . It is quite and peaceful. Well except in the mornings when the grounds keepers are around. In general it a great place to live

The office lady (the manager sits in the office) is absolutely rude and disrespectful. She is the most arrogant and unfriendly human being I have ever met.

My husband and I moved into a 2bd/2bth apartment in January. I had never lived in an apartment until this year so I had some trepidation about the experience. Our experience thus far has been nothing but pleasant. Our two-bedroom/two bathroom apartment is quite spacious and the two walk-in closets and the full laundry room have allowed for much needed storage space. We've had only a couple of maintenance issues since living here and once we contacted the office, they were addressed in a very timely fashion and the service techs were polite and pleasant. The office staff are always friendly and accommodating and handle all interactions in a kindly but professional manner. The apartment location was part of what drew us to this area and it has not disappointed. We are 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis with almost instant access to major highways and thoroughfares. There is shopping and dining within walking distance and all you could ever need located nearby. I would recommend this complex to anyone as it has more than surpassed our expectations for an apartment home.

The lakes is great! I moved to the lakes a few months ago for my new job. I am very happy in my house, I am close to work, and like the area that has shopping. I looked around the area at many apartments and choose the lakes because of the friendly staff, good price for my one bedroom house, and I am close to work. And I have coworkers that live here!

I lived at The Lakes for a year. The office ladies are deceitful and unprofessional. The apartments are old and have not been updated much. More work is done to improve the aesthetics of the grounds than on the units themselves. An abandoned car with expired license plate tags has been sitting untouched for months, despite multiple attempts at contacting the front office about having it removed. I would not recommend The Lakes.

I would be very wary of renting from here. These apartments are pretty old(Also, dont trust the model unit!! view an empty apartment!!). When we moved in the leasing office was very shady. We were told to sign the agreement that the apartment was cleaned before we were able to see it. BE SURE NOT TO DO THIS. There are many other apartment complexes in the area with nicer units. Check out summerwood apartments or the Springs.. in the same price range just MUCH nicer.

I moved from here a couple months ago only because my lease was up and life took a turn so my income wasn't enough. In my opinion the price was a little high, though it is 2 minutes from Carmel and in a very well kept area. These were awesome to live in, and if I could, I'd move back. With these apartments, not once did I get something negative besides the usual anyone would get with living in an apartment. I heard some noisy kids(7-12) downstairs. Don't like anything like that?...move to a house. They moved and everything was fine. I work at 330,4 in the morning and leaving my home, I always felt safe still. Again, never once did I have an actual problem.

I have been living at the lakes for about a year now. I love it! I always feel welcomed when i come into the office with a question or to pick up a package. They also always have pet treats in the office for my dog!! I live in the 2 bedroom 2 bath with a roommate and it's perfect for us. We're planning on staying for awhile.

The Lakes- A wonderful place
I have lived here for two years and it is a wonderful place. Great personel that work in the office and they are extremely friendly to me. The maintenance really keeps the grounds clean every day. The maintenance people are wonderful to be around and they do their job! I do not know how much longer I will live here but during my stay it has been very wonderful. My neighbors are great and my apartment is very spacious.

Watch Out.
I lived at the Lakes for two years and then my roommate went on to live there for one more year. Sure they're super nice when you move in. You even get a bottle of wine! But then they'll raise your rent a lot every time you renew. And then, if you decide to move out, they'll gouge you on "move out" fees. I don't think these people have a firm grasp on how animals work or how to clean things. Yes, we had two cats. Guess what? Cats don't like using the bathroom anywhere but their litter box, in most cases. So having to have the entire carpet replaced due to "cat urine smell" after the carpets had been professionally cleaned? --------. And $243 for cleaning? Replace the oven pan. Reglaze the countertops. CLEAN THE MICROWAVE? And don't get me started on the pet "deposits". Don't go in thinking that that is there to help cover any cleaning they have to do. No. That's pet rent. So just be prepared to NOT get your deposit back if you move out and probably be asked to shell out at least $50 or more. The Lakes is not worth the money they demand.

Nicer apartment complex than I have ever seen!
I do not live here but have visited people I know that do and I cannot believe how well this complex is kept up. I have lived in many places where the grass is over grown, garbage is everywhere, loud music, some people who are disrespectful to the neighborhood, etc... But this place, honestly, I have not seen any of that! If someone feels that their "rules" are to harsh maybe you should have checked out Cabrine Green in Chicago, there, well, were NO rules, NO safety, AND tons of garbage, graffiti, etc... If I was looking for a place to stay I would SO stay here and recommend it! Look around people, you won't find better complexes that this! Promise!

Good place but do not recommend
This is a place that spends lots of money and energy on "making this community looks good". The office is very bossy about every policy they made. For example: No storage of any kind, grills or bikes are allowed on patio/deck. Only patio furniture or flowers are allowed. Attention, Green Person, if you like biking or if you have bikes at home, you have to put the bikes in your house because the community do not offer the bike rack for you to lock your bikes. One time they found there are lots of pet's waste near my unit. They sent out notice to "warn" the tenants in the building that we should pick those waste. However, the community is so small that the waste could be from the people live in the other side of the community!!! The notices that the office sends out are really rude. When you come here, you may feel this is a pretty place to live, but do not believe that. The maintenance team is slow because the office sends them to pick up trash instead of fixing your apartment. For people who are thinking their 2 bed room apartment, please do not come here. You can find some other community which has the similar floor plan but way cheaper. (Such as Annyberry Park or Bend tree)During winter, the heat only stays in Room A. Room B never gets heat, so does the living/dining room. On the contrary, during summer, Room B is always freezing and Room A is always as hot as desert because the cold air never get to go through the living'dining area. We paid lots of money on the heat and AC. The swimming pool is the dirties pool I have ever seen. I do not understand I see people cleaning it, but I never seen it cleaned! How weird that is! The parking is crazy especially on the single-bed room apartment area. They do not have lots of parking lot. We only get one dumpster and that is on the other side of community. Lots of trash? Sorry, you'll have to drive to trash them! This place looks good, but think about the price. I seriously think the money we pay is all spent on landscaping so they can attract more people to move in. This is how shallow they are. So go somewhere else. I am sure you can find a place with the same quality but way much cheaper.

worst place ever
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Glad to be moving soon. Office staff is rude. They don't like kids especially African American, always think we are the problem everyday since the pool opened up this summer always telling us to leave just because we don't sit by the pool and tan all day. It's about having fun u don't come to the pool if u don't plan on getting wet. Fed up with their --------. And on top of that crime is too high. My little sister almost got kidnapped during school time because their was no lighting in the back of our apartments told them daily to come fix it. Luckily she knew to run back inside. Hate this place

Glad we chose this place!
My husband and I just moved her from out of state and I'm so glad we chose this community. Our apartment is super comfortable and the property is really pretty which makes it nice to come home too. The office staff has been really helpful, especially Ashley who I think is the manager. We haven't really needed any maintenance on the apartment which is a HUGE plus! Overall I would reccommend this place to others.

Cool place to live
I moved in 2 years ago, and just renewed my lease for another year. The Lakes is a really great place to live. Good location, and the property is kept up really nicely. They do a lot for the residents and have a resident appreciation week each month. They are doing a pool party in July that sounds like a lot of fun. If you are looking for a fun place to live, you should definitely move to The Lakes.

Favorite apartment I've had
I moved into The Lakes last year, and it is the best apartment I've lived in. The maintenance staff does a really good job of responding to requests right away. The property always looks nice and the landscapers do a great job of maintaining the grounds. The girls in the office have always been helpful.

sad to leave!
My roommate and I moved to the Lakes in 2009 and have loved our time there! We've had a few mishaps and had to call maintenance in but it was always resolved in a timely manner. Once I noticed the refrigerator was leaking at 1030pm called and left a message on the machine (for it was not an emergency) and the maintenance guy called me back within 5 minutes and was there within 15. I've never felt unsafe living in this community and as a single woman feeling and being safe walking to your door is a priority. We had noise issues for the first year - rude people upstairs (who thankfully didn't renew for a 2nd year) and have had no problem since then. All of our neighbors are friendly and the office staff is nice and helpful. Probably my only complaint is that the master bedroom is always about 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the apartment which the maintenance man suggested was due to the window not being shut properly. He "fixed" it and it's still cold. I remedied this with a space heater and it was fine and the space heater came in handy when we didn't want the heat on during the day but needed a little extra oomph at night, so not a big deal overall. Last summer they painted the buildings which was nice and the company they used put tarps on everyone's cars. The tarp they put on my car had some sort of tarry substance on it and since my car was brand new I was a little angry. I called the office and they got in touch with the owner of the painting company who called me right away and got the problem taken care of. Again - problem solved easily! We chose not to renew our lease this year due to outside circumstances but we are sad to leave the Lakes!

Not bad, but not great..
I think the Lakes is a nice place to live. It's well kept and the apartments are nice, and I love that it comes with w/d hookup. However, this was not enough to make me decide to renew my lease. 1. One of the things stated is the outside storage. However, the apt to which I was moved does not have that b/c it is occupied by the sprinkler system. Unfortunatley, I did not notice this until I had moved in and was going out there to put some items in storage. I was not told this prior to moving into the apt-- not cool. So needless to say, I have been crammed in a 1 br and can barely walk in the closet from having stuff in there so it's not cluttering up the rest of the public space. When I mentioned this I was just told "I'm sorry", and even when I mentioned it as far as leaving my rent as is when the renewal offers came around, I was told there was nothing they could do to compensate, which leads to my next topic... 2. Apt hunting is hard and there's not a lot of places in the area offering completely what I'm looking for. So, I asked if I could be moved to another apt. Be aware, for a transfer, you have to go through the process as if you were a new applicant!! New application (they do you a "courtesy" and waive the app fee and admin fee since you are already a resident), credit check, and a new security deposit (even though you already have one w/them on your current apt). Then, you will still have to move out of one apt to another (on your own dime and effort, of course). For all of this, I may as well find another place that I like and move for real-- which I did... And they were absolutely appalled at the transfer process (Esp since the reason I wanted to move was one that could've been prevented by the staff). So, I did try to stay at the Lakes, they just didn't make it convenient... 3. BEWARE: THEY CONTRACT WITH A TOWING COMPANY TO COME THROUGH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND TOW ANY CARS THAT ARE ILLEGALLY PARKED OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT. You do not know this until your car has been towed-- well, at least I didn't. Do not come home on a weekend after 7pm and expect to find a parking space... I got home about midnite one Friday night and there was no parking spaces anywhere close around my building-- except for one of the many handicap spaces that are RARELY USED (in fact, in front of my building I have never seen it occupied). So, foolish me, w/a sprained ankle and sleeping 2 yr old to carry parked there w/the intention of getting up in the morning to move it once other ppl's guests had gone and freed up some parking spaces. Little did I know, 2 hrs later my car was being taken to a unknown place. (Note: they only post tow info INSIDE the carports... so if you'r enot in one or facing one-- like me-- you have NO CLUE..). Because my baby was sick all day Saturday, I ended up forgetting about moving my car and didn't even leave the house thath day. Wouldn't have made any difference anyway-- it was already gone. Needless to say, the office staff receive info about what cars were towed from their lot. I was absolutely enraged that this is supposed to be my "home" and paying damn near $700 every month does not even constitute me a courtesy call to let me know that my car has been towed. That was the point when I knew I did not want to live there anymore... The maintenance is very good-- any issues are promptly taken care of. I've had to get my thermostat/furnace replaced, as well as a new hot water heater-- and everything was done w/in 24 hrs. Also, I do not like that there is only 1 place for garbage disposal. It is hard to keep your garabge at a minimum when you have to drive halfway around the complex to get it disposed of.. I don't understand why they don't look into having more dumpsters around the complex, but I guess that isn't "eye friendly"... even though it would be very convenient for the residents. I have also not had any problems w/vandalism or break ins w/my personal property or vehicle. Had they not made the transfer a big inconvenience (and I was able to get a comparable apt) I would have stayed. I just want a decent place to live and not have ot pay an arm and a leg or go through hoops to get things accomplished. They may plan a lot of "resident activities" but I think satisfactory personal resolutions for resident issues is of more importance, even though the girls in the office are very friendly and nice. If they can manage to perfect that, then the Lakes would be one of the best places to live.

Clean place to live!
I have lived at The Lakes for a few months and I love it! I have seen the girls that work in the office outside picking up trash around the place many times, and the grounds are kept maintained. I was referred to The Lakes by a friend who has lived here for awhile. It's really the nicest place to live in the area. I can't wait until the pool opens up this summer, they have a great outdoor area to hang out!

Never Again
Drier lint everywhere being extracted outside of and in front of doorways, parking is very lacking after dinner hours, things being stole OUT OF OFFICE - now hours are changing in workout room in addition to no more TV because it was stolen (workout room WAS 24hrs upon signing lease, with TV - not anymore), lack of communication and congruency between employees in office, any issue was at most resolved with an apology, never a discount, an offer, or anything to make renters happy, do not feel safe, represented, understood, or taken care of....sad.

Just moved in
I just moved into my new apartment at The Lakes, and I really like it. We decided to lease and move here because it is close to mine and my girlfriend's work. We are can't wait for summer and the pool to open so we can really enjoy all of the amenities that they have here. We think it's a great place.
