Smoothest process ever. From start to finish - true professionals who know the lease process and know how to run a property. No complaints on the maintenance, neighbors, or even trash pickup. Carry on!!

ved here for two years, overall would NEVER recommend this apartment! pros: -good package delivery service -prompt maintenance staff -has printing and a small gym cons: -was charged $1000 upon move out because they decided that two stains the size of a nickel warranted replacement of the entire apartment's carpet and charged us for it. when asked why this wasn't considered normal wear and tear, Crystal Duty of the leasing office was extremely rude and condescending -was told in writing by Crystal Duty before move in that subletting would be allowed. When I asked about this 6 months later, I was told that the policy has changed and that subletting is no longer possible. I was never informed through any means by the apartment that there was a policy change -there is ZERO insulation in this building! in the winter, there is a constant cold draft coming in directly through the "heating vent," which was directly connected to the outside and had nothing to prevent cold air from coming in. We paid over $300 a month for heating in the winter and it was absolutely freezing in the apartment. -fire alarm goes off randomly in the middle of the night -although there is free printing, the printer never has paper and is frequently broken. the TV in the communal space is also frequently broken

I lived in Camden Court for four years and had a wonderful experience! As a UMB med student, the convenience does not get any better (especially for early morning/ late night hospital walks). It is also a very easy apt to live in with access to 295/95 very close. The apartments are very spacious and it is amazing to have W/D in the unit. I rarely had to call maintenance, but when I did, they always came the same day and took care of the problem immediately. I never had any problems with bugs, as each unit has monthly pest control visits. The front office, leasing, and maintenance employees are very friendly. Parking is one of the best compared to my friends' situations (covered garage with great sized spaces for being in a city and completely locked so you can leave stuff in your car without worrying about it being stolen). WARNING- only one parking spot under the building/ apt. If you are in a 2/3 BR additional cars are parked across the street in a public garage. The gym was recently updated and has everything you need. My only complaint was I could hear my neighbors' TV at night, but I think he had the volume up way too loud. Overall, I think this building is very well-managed and would recommend it. I will miss my home greatly and only gave it up because I moved out of Baltimore.

Choose your unit wisely! I lived in this apartment for three years now. I lived in 2/1 above the fire station (mid floor), facing Holiday Inn for two years (Biggest mistake to renew the lease), then moved to a 2/2 facing garage on higher up floor. 2/2 facing garage is a heaven. Very quiet, lots of sun, actually no complaints. The other unit, facing Holiday Inn, very noisy, (I was at the end unit) and had issues with internet. Based on my friend's review who also lives on the end units, not all end units have internet issues, it seems like. One thing that I highly speak of would be the management. Very hard working, always fixes things right away when requested(if anything goes wrong,, which doesn't happen much at all). Overall, I would recommend this place.

If you are looking for a pretty good place-- no rats, no crime, new facilities-- this is where you want to be. But it is far from perfect. The insulation is basically non-existent. My room freezes in the winter and boils in the summer. I had to plastic my walls. Also, it's right between the light rail and the fire station so it's far from quiet. These bring it down to a 3, in what otherwise would probably be a 5. The gym is pretty good, the staff is pretty nice, it's safe, and it's good enough. Considering the negatives-- and there are strong negatives-- it's still worth it if you need a place to meet your minimum needs.

Not too bad if you are a young professional or student. As an older resident, I compare it too a high priced graduate student dorm. Terrible neighborhood as you constantly have to deal with overaggressive panhandlers, winos and crack heads. Utility bills are too high and dealing with downtown traffic a hassle. I would not wish for my daughter to live here. Staff is decent enough though a few of the security people are not particularly professional. I would never rent here again.

I have lived here for 1 year and just signed a lease to begin another. I really love living in this building. Parking: I park at First Mariner right across the street and haven't had any issues. The building has its own monthly parking, but I've never used it. Noise: Just for reference, I live on the top floor so I can't attest to whether or not I can hear anyone above me, but my floor is relatively quiet and the view is wonderful. However, the outside noise (ambulances, firetrucks, honking horns, game days) can be quite loud. But no matter where you live in Baltimore, at least near Inner Harbor or the UM campus, there is no way to escape the noise. You get used to it and after the first few nights, you'll be able to sleep through it with no issue. This is coming from someone who lived in an extremely quiet suburb in GA. The building is located right next to the light rail tracks but it's rarely loud enough to annoy me on my floor. Grounds: My floor is very clean. Every so often, the outside carpets are cleaned as well as the trash room. Maintenance has actually just begun re-painting and wallpapering the hallways :). As for the downstairs, the lobby is always clean. There are actually freshly, baked cookies at the front desk most days in the afternoon if you can believe that! No strange smells in lobby as the front/security desk usually sprays something or lights a candle. The lobby bathroom and gym are clean as well. There is also actually a free coffee/latte machine in the lobby which is pretty great. In regards to my actually unit, I love my apartment. The top floor, "penthouse floor" has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The rooms aren't huge, but there are different floor plans with more space. Safety: I feel safe in this building. As its mostly grad students living here, I've never felt unsafe walking to the trash chute on my floor or the need look both ways before entering and exiting my apartment. As a female, safety in Baltimore was my main priority and I think that Camden Court is one of the safer buildings in the area. The security desk recognizes the residents and usually asks unfamiliar faces without key card who they are coming to visit before letting them in. You must have a key card to access the building which is another plus. Construction: Unlike the Zenith, a building on Pratt street that was constantly under construction for the vast majority of the year, I have not noticed/heard any major construction being conducted on the outside of the building. Every once in a while, like now, maintenance will be fixing up the hallways or cleaning the lobby, but it really isn't a major inconvenience. Also, notices are always posted before any construction is done to the building. This makes it easier to work the maintenance into your schedule especially when alarms are being tested. Maintenance: Very quick. When I first moved in, my closet shelf fell out and they fixed it in less than a few hours while I was at school. I've also had overhead lights go out - once again, they've always responded very quickly. Staff: All very friendly. Willing to allow me to use a cart for my groceries and heavy packages. They recognize me and know my apartment number so sometimes I'm told whether I have a package before I even check. There was an incident in particular where I was being harassed outside of the building by someone and was let in quickly without me having to pull out my key card because the front desk woman knew me. If you move here, it really is in your best interest to be friend with and get to know the front desk - they are great :) Overall: As I said, I signed a new lease here and plan on living here until I'm ready to move out of the city. I always get compliments from visiting friends and family about how they feel like they are in a hotel when they enter the lobby. The leasing office is very responsive to any inquiries and the staff is wonderful. Short walk to Inner Harbor and to the UM campus. I had a choice between living further up the block in Marlboro Classics and I chose this apartment. Camden Court is a newer building and has washer/dryer in the unit. BGE bill is relatively low as it doesn't take much to cool and heat the rooms and I'm out for the majority of the day. If you're a student and want to live within walking distance to UM, definitely look into living in this building.

Pleasantly Surpised
First off, I don't like cities ... I'm here for residency training. I decided to pick somewhere close to the hospital for my first year. Camden Court was a great choice. The apartments are nice, the staff is friendly, and it's a short walk to the hospital. Although its directly beside the firehouse, I don't think I was ever woken up by a truck. Maybe it's the noise from my fan...maybe I'm exhausted ? The fire alarm tests are annoying...especially when you are on night shift and need to sleep during the day. But they are few and far between. The gym downstairs is decent. The "security" I agree is a joke ... But so are real cops, let's face it, no one is going to protect you....but you... I diverge. Regardless they are very nice and will do anything they can to help you out. Parking at the first Mariner can be a pain during events and my truck was broken into. Utilities are reasonable. I actually never turned my heat on during the winter. My bill was 50 bucks a month. The Comcast guy for the apartment is great....and generally I despise cable companies but this guy is the exception. I'm only moving out to get out of the city. Give Camden Court a look if you're planning on living downtown. My opinion.

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!
LOVE Camden Court! Great location, great price, great staff & neighbors! The staff always makes the residents feel special by throwing special events and happy hours- very social place to live! I hate when unhappy people leave nasty comments just keep your rude opinions to yourselves! Most of the time when someone leaves a negative comment its because they are the problem.

Live somewhere else!
Most likely you are a med student looking for somewhere to live near the hospital, right? Well, unless the Marlboro is your only other option (and that place is a smelly pit) Camden Court is a horrible place to live. Where to begin? It's in a very undesirable area. The word "Downtown" usually evokes an image of buisnesses, but here it is borderline ------. Don't let anyone glamourize it by saying it's "near" the Inner Harbor. It's about six blocks away. The fire alarms go off ALL THE TIME. Seriously. And there is never a fire, they just like to set them off. FOR HOURS. Think the fire station located right next door means there will be a prompt and efficient response to the alarms going off? THINK AGAIN. There is a FIRE STATION NEXT DOOR. You get the joy of hearing the trucks come and go at all hours. There is a train station just a few steps north. So the trains are under your windows. And they are not quiet. Don't ever open the windows, because then you will realize you are paying an exorbitant amount of money to feel as though you live on the streets. At least as far as the decible levels are concerned. The street noise is excessive here, espeically during the Baltimore Grand Prix. Or Orioles games. Ugh. Parking is expensive, and if you go the 'cheaper' (by $25.00) route, you get to park across the street at the First Mariner Arena parking. Which is constantly busy with events for the Arena (of course.) There is no assigned parking there, so you better just not go anywhere when there is a big show, because there is no guarantee you will have a parking spot even though you pay monthly for one. Think the low security deposit is awesome? Well, they surprise you with a long list of exorbitant possible charges when you give notice that you will be moving out. Also, you must give two month's notice prior to moving. I've never heard of this before, and I have lived in three major cities. The "security" is laughable. Mostly uninterested young women surfing the net and talking on their cell phones, when they are not 'doing their rounds" (that is, taking a smoke break.) People smoke in the stairways. WTH? There are random corners in many rooms, making it difficult to arrange your furniture. The kitchen is ridiculously small. Unless all you do is order out. The heaters are giant boxes located under the windows, taking up much floor space. You can feel the outside air blowing in from the OUTLETS. This will increase your already way too damn high (thanks, BGE) electricity bill. There is no storage space, and very little closet space. You'd better not have much stuff. This is not a place to have children. There is nothing for them to do here or nearby, and just crossing the street when you leave can be treacherous. There are much better places to live, if you absolutely must live in Baltimore. I would advise against living in the city at all, especially if you don't enjoy paying excessive city taxes.

Could be better
This place is okay. I'm in the middle of my second year lease and have no plans to stay when it is up. My main reason for choosing this complex was the price and proximity to my work building. It started off nice, I grew up around Baltimore, so I'm used to the outside noise, but living next to First Mariner Arena is a major downfall. Concerts are loud and the late night traffic from people leaving is even worse; constant honking of horns until the garage has been cleared out. The apartments do not have central heat/ac units. Instead, they have glorified window units. Now that winter is almost upon us, my electricity bill is, on average, $300 a month this time of the year. When the units aren't running, you can actually feel the cold air rushing in through the giant hole in the wall where the unit sits. If you are against declawing your cats since, imo, it is inhumane, don't live here. One of their "pet policy requirements" is to have them declawed. The walls themselves are pretty well insulated to block out noise from your neighbors, however, any noise coming from the hallway outside of the apartment can be heard. The apartments own parking garage is expensive. Almost $200 a month expensive. If you don't mind having to cross the street, I would just park at First Mariner's arena. It's cheaper and they have attendants patrolling the garage at all hours. The staff is friendly and if I drank coffee, the free coffee is a nice perk, but I will not be renewing my lease. Our rent gets raised by too much every year. That, along with my other complaints, just isn't worth another year here.

Overall Pretty Great
I have lived here for a year and just renewed my lease. We have a 2 bed 1 bath and got it for a really good price. Here's a quick summary: Good - Staff is friendly, VERY quiet (have only heard the neighbors 1 time), decent prices for the area (although the area itself is pretty expensive), lots of students and professionals, free coffee machine in the lobby which I use every morning, convenient location, A/C and heat are a wall unit (not central) but work efficiently, clean and well maintained for the most part, very safe and there is 24 hour security Bad - parking is sooo expensive (but that is true for all apartments in this area), maintenance is a little slow sometimes but we've never had a major problem, some apartments do have trouble with leaks but not on the higher floors, city is noisy and the apartment is between the light rail and fire station (but anything in this area is noisy...its a city) Overall I really enjoy living here. I know several people who live in nearby apartments, and I think this is by far one of the better apartments in the immediate area.

Place is OK, met my expectations
The major decision point for choosing this place is the location. It can't be beat! I've had the option to move to a brand new building when the lease was up but I chose to stay because of the convenience this location provides. City noise is expected (firetrucks, light rail, etc) but I got used to it eventually. My upper floor unit is facing Howard St and I get a decent view of the tall city buildings, Fed Hill, Domino Sugars sign, and even the fireworks at the Harbor during July 4th. My few complaints are: the units are not well insulated so you end up spending a little bit more on utilities. I have a 2 BR all to myself so my bill never exceeded $200 even during winter time. It evens out to $110-$120 during spring and fall. Also the appliances aren't top notch, I've lived in other buildings that offered better quality appliances. Maintenance could be a little bit more responsive. The girls at the office are always responsive and made sure that my needs are addressed. The Front Desk Staff is also very friendly. For the price and location, I would consider staying here for a couple more years.

Perfectly Fine
I have lived in Camden Court for roughly 5 years. I was the first person to move occupy my apartment when Camden Court was brand new. Before Camden Court I have lived in a variety of apartments in a variety of states. Overall Camden Court has been my best experience. The stunning fact about my apartment is how quiet it is given that it is in the middle of the city. Yes, you do hear the fire trucks when they leave the station and yes you need to live with the occasional 4am garbage truck with its backup beeper beeping for what seems like an hour, but this is the city. As I said, I was stunned by how quiet my apartment is. I absolutely hate noise and I have been happy here for 5 years. I think that's a good recommendation. I have no complaints about the staff but then I don't expect too much from them. They are adequately friendly and adequately polite. They fix problems in an adequate amount of time. They are in a word adequate ---- you can find a lot worse than adequate in the world so I am thankful and content. I have thought many times about moving closer to my work over the last 4 or 5 years. I have always stayed with Camden Court because its good enough here that one might be silly to take a risk to find better. As my title says. Its perfectly fine here. That's really all you should expect from an apartment anyway.

I wouldnt live here
This apartment was an easy place to find and my first mistake was not looking farther. I had no idea what the other options were. Its great and convenient if you are willing to deal with gloried window units for "central" heat and air -- the only thing central about it is that it has a thermostat that controls said wall unit. Not only are they covered with box enclosures which take up A LOT of your very small amount of floor square footage but in the winter they are just open portals to the outside environment. Plus, to keep the unit from freezing, when it hits 40F or lower outside they revve up -- yeah you are paying for it to blow in cold air. Did I mention that our two bedroom had only two of these things -- 1 bedroom had its own and the other had a vent off of the one located in the living room; talk about expensive to heat or cool that room at night while heating or cooling the rest of the apartment at the same time. After I taped cardboard over the vent into the second room during the winter it was much warmer without the constant cold air - we just didnt turn it on since everyone else was getting at least $400 utility bills and their apartments were still cold; ours was still almost $200 and that was with them turned off (thats almost $100 more than in the summer). I put up with it because I didnt realize what a bad deal I had. It was a fairly new building and there were lots of other students living there so I was willing to deal. If my air conditioner stopped twice in a week in july, and the second time on a sunday when apparently their 24 hr maintenance did come in (what the hell is it for then?) well that was fine, no big deal. What really got me was after we moved out, after two walk-throughs and ample cleaning, we finally got part of our deposit back. We were charged for carpet replacement. How they had to replace carpet that we had not spilled anything on and I had vacuumed weekly was a mystery. When they were asked about it, they admitted there was an element of normal wear and tear but since we had been last in the apartment we had done a lot of damage requiring its replacement; what damage I had no idea unless we were supposed to simply not walk on the carpet. A question about proof of damage produced only the invoice for the carpet replacement which we were supposed to take as proof that there was damage. How is an invoice proof of damage? All it says is that you replaced the carpet. The girls that work in the office are pretty much useless at getting anything done and one even implied that I was lying when I said that during the walk through she had said that the carpet might need to be replaced but WE WOULD NOT BE CHARGED. There are benefits to living at Camden - is convenient and the appliances are fairly new and it has in apartment washers and dryers, but if you want my advice, steer clear. There are a lot of other options with bigger apartments for less and definitely with better, friendlier service. The parking cost is average but they only have limited parking on site, and the rest has to park across the street and there are not enough spots for even one apartment to have a spot in the apartment garage; don't believe them about a waiting list, it doesn't exist. 24 front desk service seems nice until you find out that it wont turn off the smoke detector with an old battery that starts going off at 3 am -- you have to pull it out of the ceiling yourself and then wait for maintenance to come later in the day when they get around to it. Plus, 24 security just means there is a person behind the desk that can buzz people in who dont have key cards, and then not ask for ID or anything. If nothing else, living somewhere else you wont have to listen to every fire truck leaving the fire station you almost live on top of, every ambulance on its way to shock trauma, every large truck crashing over the light rails, or the light rail racing and screeching past blowing it horn loud enough to wake the dead.

Amazing. 3 years, no complaints.
I lived at CC for 3 years and was very satisfied. The staff and management are super nice and willing to go the extra mile for their residents. I was very busy during my time there and I knew that if I put in a maintenance request that I could count on it being completed by the time I returned home. It is a very reasonably priced building for its location and the parking is on site. Another bonus is that they are very pet friendly. However, in my 3 years there, I never noticed what another reviewer said about "fecal matter in the parking lot." This is totally bogus. Most residents are very considerate and the parking lot was always clean. Again, I can't say enough good things about CC. I hope you enjoy your time there as much as I did during my three years in Baltimore. My reason for moving was solely because of my job.

I love Camden Court
I have lived at Camden Court for six months and I love it. I do not see any of the negative things that have been described in other reviews. I love the staff, had never had difficulties with maintenance, and really enjoy chatting with the all the other friendly residents. In particular I really think Allison, Will and Gus are great assets to Camden Court!

Highly Recommend This Place
I'm not sure what the other people are talking because I have nothing but good things to say about this apartment complex. The reviews I'm reading make it sound like a totally different apartment from where I've been living. Here's my experience: Parking: Parking is what you'd expect for an apartment downtown. The building does have a lot in the back of the building; it's secured and it costs $150 per month. There's a waiting list, though, and so you're more likely to end up in the city parking garage across the street; it's always staffed, and so it, too, is secure. The other option is to park in the neighboring apartment complex's garage, which is also secure. I ended up parking across the street and then after a few month's was offered a parking spot in the building's lot. It's more convenient, for sure, but it's not a deal breaker. Noise: I'm across the hall from the elevator, and so I do hear the elevators occassionally, as well as the people coming and going, but it's nothing severe. Only on very, very rare occasions have I heard my neighbors and I never hear the people upstairs. Aside from the noise in the hallway, the building is sound proof. What's more noisey are the sounds of the city outside (fire engines, police, light rail, etc.), but that is a part of city living. Grounds: The management has worked diligently to keep the grounds clean. They have really started cracking down on pet owners who do not clean up after their pets in the building's parking lot/garage. Other than that, they are always cleaning the common areas. Since we're downtown, there's no landscaping. Safety: This is downtown Baltimore. It's hard to say it's safe or unsafe because it's a city. You basically have to keep your wits about you, but this is the same for any neighborhood in this city. You can pay a lot more money per month and live in Harbor East, which is where I work, but you can't even say that is safe. In terms of inside the building, it's extremely safe. Construction: The building is nice, especially the common areas. The gym is especially great. The management here seems to invest in high quality appliances in the apartments and high quality equipment and furniture in the common areas. Maintenance: On a few occasions, I've had to have maintenance come and inspect problems (sock clogging the washer, a/c not coming on, etc.). They have always, always, always came within 24 hours, but usually within the hour. They're extremely professional and very personable. This is by far the greatest maintenance staff I have encountered in apartment living. Staff: Just as with the maintenance staff, the staff here are incredible. The management is always approachable and willing to work with you on any concerns, questions or issues you have. They throw quarterly happy hours for tenants, and so they get to know you that way. They are eager to know you, too. The maintenance are also personable. The men and women who work security at the front desk are from a different company, but they are professional and extremely personable. They do what is expected, in terms of security, but they also help out with other tasks and always willing to lend you a helping hand when you need it. I can't praise the staff enough.

Ok place but I will not renew my lease.I made a mistake by settling for this property.
The management staff is not very responsive to maintenance needs. They seem to spend their time writing memos berating residents and posting these memos in the elevators. I think the evidence of how poorly run this property is evident by the low occupancy rate. The security staff at the front door seems to think they are paid to surf the internet and watch movies all day. Lobby always full of aggressive dogs when you try to come in. The parking garage is overflowing with pet Fecal matter and litter.
