Nice Living

I have enjoyed living at Reisterstown Square. It is conveient to the market and shopping as well as the MTA going into downtown. I haven't had an increase in 2 years which is good and the maintanence staff is most of the time effeicent when I called in a request. I have even been late with my rent and called the office and spoke with the bookkeeper who handled my situation very professionally. I think that these apartments are good for people like myself who first time renters

Not All Good and Not All Bad

I lived here from 2001-2002. My apartment was a decent size and had nice touches like an updated kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors and ample closet space. Another perk was that it was within walking distance of the Metro and shops.

The positive attributes stop there. Whenever it rained my apartment became infested with roaches. The grounds were very dark at night. There were possees of young males roaming the grounds at night, making noise, smoking dope and harassing anything in a skirt. The noise level outside of my apartment was RIDICULOUS. Also, residents kept tearing down the fence that separated the complex from the plaza. I did not feel the slightest bit safe here and did not leave my apartment after dark if at all possible.

I never had any issues with maintenace but management was HORRIBLE. When I moved out, I had to threaten to sue them in order to get back my security deposit, despite the fact that I left my apartment in pristeen condition. They kept saying that the check was in the mail and it never came until I threatened a suit.

The bottom-line, if you are on a budget and need to take the metro to work/school, this place will work until you get into a better situation. Otherwise, don´t bother.

THIEVES

I payed a $40.00 application fee three weeks ago and still haven´t heard from those ignorant folks. Luckily I´ve found somewhere else to live. I can imagine how long it takes for them to answer service request from tenants. Thieves go to jail....

Not a good choice or consideration

Grounds were well-maintained as were most areas and I stress most, because Vincent Lane was considered the "back alley" of the complex and got little attention...Requests for repairs were not met in a timely fashion...frequent turning over of maintainence staff and administrative staff....open areas (hallways, lobby, laundry rooms) were not well kept in some buildings...undesirable tenants and thier guests continued to menace other tenants with little support from office.

DO NOT MOVE HERE (unless you are recommending it to your enemy)

Management is shady, unorganized, had to fire leasing agents because of underhanded business practices. They recently began to rent to "------," loud, and obnoxious people. Some residents were recently informed that a rape occurred one or two buildings away from her; but the rental people would not tell tenants. They´re so worried about their overpriced rent, they really demonstrate by this and who they rent to--they don´t care about anyone´s safety.

The property manager specifically is a horrible person, phony and does not know what professionalism and customer service is.

On the way to work, their maintenance crew harrass residents going to work. It´s sad, when I see them approaching, I just think hmmm uh oh here comes the "work-release" crew. They can´t worry about someone´s safety, but one of my friends parked on the left of an unclear parking sign for not more than 10 minutes, and had to go all the way to N. Ave., to get it out of towing..yet, they leave the apts. unsecured and people get raped, We see what your priorities are, what a way to look out for tenants!

The Worst Place I have ever lived--really.

I lived here for one year 1999-2000. I was a law student. It was my first time in Baltimore. This place was absolutely horrible. The model they show is completely deceptive. Your place will look **nothing** like it. We were shown a 1 bed room with a hall closet. My unit did not include the closet. The stove never worked and I spent the greater part of the year on my stomach lighting the pilot light. Plus that nasty gas smell you get from older stoves is right in there. The toliet always ran. The bathroom is tiny. The complex is loud and I had 3 men who were out patients at the mental hospital (seriously) living in a "group home setting" across the hall. They were always talking to themselves and one even had a winter coat on in the dead of summer fighting with an imaginary "friend" in the front door of the building. I was afraid to go inside. Kids threw rocks at my cat who liked to sit in the window in the mornings and broke the window. There is no storage space. My apartment had one closet. The parking lot backs to a Food King and there are lots of wierdos lurking around. It is totally not a safe environment. i was always inside by dark. In the fall and winter the trees at night are filled with Ravens who poo all over the cars and make loud noises all night. It is like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock. Also, the ac/ heat never worked right. Heat was included but ac was not and I had it fixed several times a season. My average bill was $200 during the summer. My first few months there the bill was $300 and although I asked if it sounded normal for a 1 bed apartment to use that much energy, no one seemed to care. The management is horrible. The woman who was there druing 1999-2000 was totally rude and in effective. I could not wait to move! Please do not ever live there.

Lies....Lies...Lies from whoever wrote on 7/21

The person who wrote the nice review on 7/21 I believe is related to the manager, is the manager herself or they are on crack. The grounds are always dirty with paper and sometimes drug related items. The lighting is very poor. The manager, well, I have never seen her walk around except to show apartments. Also, maintenance is okay, but it depends on who shows up to do the job. If you are specific by name on who you want, the job will be done. Sorry whoever wrote the good review on 7/21, I think you are looking at this place through rose colored glasses. I just don´t see what you see and I have been here four years. As for security, well I have never seen this mysterious person. They say he exist, but like the weapons of mass destruction he can´t be found. I will be moving, but I want to get my credit together for a house.

                good

I have lived here for two years. My first year was almost unbearable because it did not appear that management cared about the tenants or the property. Then they brought in a new manager. At first I had my doubts about her too. However, during this past year she has really proven herself. It appears that she has an active interest in the property as well as the tenants. Maintenance is not 100%, but it is better than before. The grounds always look nice except on Vincent Lane. Don´t get me wrong, it´s not as bad as it used to be, but it could be better. The manager is always out on the property inspecting the property. I´ve also noticed that we have security back in force at night. Overall, I would rate this
property good. I will be renewing my lease!

This place sucks!!! Don´t move here!!

I would recommend living in your vehicle before moving to this poorly managed place! Colita Dempsey is the most unprofessional "property manager" I have ever encountered. I have submitted three letters complaining about the various problems that exisit. Such as noisy neighbors, mice, roaches, the leak in the laundry room, and the list goes on and on... She has not addressed anything and it´s been 6 months of this. When she is approached in person the impression is that she is extremely lazy and has a very nasty attitude. Shouldn´t managers be customer friendly??!!

The grounds are poorly kept. If I had a dollar for each time someone left a shopping cart on front of the buildings, it would pay my rent for a month. The community dwellers are also suspect. Management does NOT screen it´s applicants. They just want you or the gov´t (section 8) to pay. There are numerous "Mentally Challenged" individuals that are not so descretely placed throughout the complexes. It´s apparent when someone has not taken their medicine!!

Safety is another MAJOR concern. Just the other day I had a parcel stolen from in front of my door. It´s a damn shame when you can NOT trust your own neighbors. Several other tenants have had their storage bins broken into. Not to mention the thugs hanging out on benches and at the front entrance. Gee, this is a welcoming sight when you return home from work on payday.

I have been here two years and am thankful that my lease is finally up. I´m outta here!

Do Not move here!! Good luck finding a more suitable home.

I currently live in these apartments and I am very ready to move. I have lived here 2 years and the managemnt team are very lazy, the community was on the rise for a short amount of time but the management chaged hands again and now they have Colita Dempsey and she is lazy and has no disregaurd for her tenants she is only focused on filling each unit.

They have new ridiculous policies like:

* if you get locked out and they have to come to your building to let you in they make you pay $40.00 in hand.

* They have emergency maintainence but they will not respond to your call promptly the maintinence crew is very lazy and have very nastly attitudes.

One of the major problems that they have is millions of mice no matter what floor or unit you live in you will have mice. And these are not normal mice they are not affraid of humans and they do not respeond to traps or poison.

My advice would be not to move here unless they were the only community to except you.

Ditto!! Pay $30 more and live up the road in Pikesville.

I must agree with the other sentiments regarding the management and the overall maintenance of this complex. The noise level from my neighbors is excessive. I have wall to wall carpet BUT my neighbors don´t and management doesn´t enforce this which is clearly stated in the lease agreement. So I have to sleep with a noise machine to drown out the constant noise from the above apartment. The grounds are in shambles! During the snow storm an old tree fell and it remains there even after 2 weeks time. My buildings Hot water was shut off without any notice from management/maintenance. The glass to the front door was kicked out by a "THUG" over two months ago. There has been a cheap peice of plywood and we are lied to and told that the glass is "on order". Management is no longer screening applicants and simply wanting to fill spaces.

I moved here for the proximity to the Metro but I will NOT renue my lease another year. Two years of this nonsense is enough. I´ll drive to the Metro if it means that I have to pay a bit more for a quiter and safer environment. Home should be solitude not DRAMA.

I have been living here for 3 years. I would have to agree with others on a lot of issues. Management has gone down over the years. The do not take your complaints serious, you have to contiuniously call them for the same issues. Mantience is horrible they take forever to fix something and then most of the time they do not complete the job because they never have the parts or the tools. There are not enough Mantience people for the complex. Also when they do come they should well supervised while in your apartment. The apartments are nice however the walls are thin and noise can sometimes be a factor. The safety level is low. There is not safety patrol as they say. I have never seen them. There has also been an increase in young guys hanging around on the grounds. There is also a major trash problem on the grounds. The train running behind the buildings does not bother me as much as the other things I mentioned. Tenants are paying to much money to live here to have to deal with these type of problems.

I have to agree with the last three reviews on this complex.

I was moved in to this apartment over the phone since I could not afford to visit beforehand. I was lied to about the access to and state of repair of the complex´ ammenities.

The understanding I have now is that the previous management was trying to fill in bodies to make the property more attractive to prospective buyers. The new management is just as unscrupulous as the old.

Maintenance requests take many, MANY months to get handled. This is mainly due to the fact that management gives order slips to the maintenance workers and then never checks up on them to make sure the work is done. I know this because one of the maintenance men (who has repeatedly called my wife to ask her out) confided it to us on the one occasion he did come to "fix" something.

The two good things I can say about the property are that the apartments are very spacious and the lands are well maintained. Unfortunately, a step outside the property walls leads to run-down shopping strips and scary neighborhoods.

My advice if you would like to live in the NW Baltimore area is to look for an apartment just three or four miles up the road in Pikesville.

We still have maintenance requests put in when we first moved (nine months ago!), which we repeatedly call about but they never come. Also there is a huge sound problem with this building and while there are provisions in the lease stating that rugs should be put down to muffle the sound it is not enforced and I have been unable to get a night´s sleep without disruption since I moved here.
