roaches
The roaches are off the hook. Not just the little ones in the apartments. The big ones thats always hanging out on the front singing and talking loud all night long.

The worst apartment complex I've ever lived at!!
I lived here for about 2 years. After we moved in, a week later, someone broke into our apartment and stole everything. Of course, no one saw or heard anything. People hanging out on the steps of the building, and you always have to say excuse me just to get in the door. I lived on the second floor and I had mice! It was like a horror film. I would catch a mouse like every week. Of course I notified the rental office and all they could tell me was that the apartments had just been exterminated. That didn't ease my mind. All I could think of is these things carry disease and I have two children who did not need to live in an unhealthy environment like that. The walls are super thin, you could here when your neighbors are running bath water. You have to share two washers and two dryers between two buildings. The dungeon-like room is very unsafe. Sometimes I would go down there to wash my clothes and teens are hanging all around, cursing and smoking. So, basically, DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! I'm telling you now, you will have a miserable living experience.

Would Not Recommend
I've lived here for financial reasons for several years and would not recommend this apartment to anyone. There are a lot of children and although they are not unruly or rude, my car has suffered multiple dents because of their playing football or simply just lending on my car. One of the apartments in my building suffered water damage, their was a mildew spell in the building for months, then when that problem was finally corrected, roaches came from the apartment and into my apartment. Not very good management.

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT WHICH RESULTS IN TERRIBLE LIVING CONDITIONS
There are only two maintenance people..one is an elderly lady who drives a 69 pinto (I am not lying) with a doll baby on th epassenger side...They came to repair a broke pipe in the bathroom, knocked all the tile off the wall to get into it and haven't replaced it since(that was in Nov 2003-a month after I moved in . When I complained about both the stove and refrigerator that don't work I was told these things could be fixed for an additonal $60 per month 0not one time-per month...DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DONT DO IT.

Not recommended
I have lived here for 6 years and every 6 months they have raised the rent, yet the customer service and the living area has gotten worse. The office staff is rude and obnoxious. When you call to get something corrected you have to track them down. I don't know who hired these people for customer service positions, but they need to re-evaluate.

Parking sucks and they tow your car even if you are parked correctly with a parking sticker. My husbands vehicle was towed three times and two times it was parked in the designated area. Then they charge you $ 175 to get your vehicle back. There was a roach problem in my apartment when I moved in, and I called maintenance, and they send someone in, who dropped 3 small roach motels and left. Those things don't work, and needless to say, did nothing for the problem. I had to go out and buy products to get rid of them and I had to use a corkgun to close up all the holes in the walls to keep them gone.

Granted, the apartment is spacious, but the walls and floors are super thin, I constantly think the person who lives above me is going to come through the floor. The kitchen floors are just disgusting and undated, the bathroom is undated. The carpeting is old and worn yet when asked they will not do anything about it, they say until I move out??? Now, tell me... how does that benefit me and all that I pay out to live here????

It burns me up inside, when I think off how much money I am giving these people every month. I've had several friends move out because of the roaches and now mice problem and one friend had termites. All management did was sprayed and set out a box trap for the mice. I have contacted the health department for the mold in the basement of the building that you can smell when you enter the building to try and get some type of resolution. But it seems the resolutions are only temporal.

Please do not torture yourself by moving here, this place is the worst possible place to move. If I was able to, I would have moved yesterday but I'm a student and it is currently the only thing I can afford. So still If YOU have a choice....

Please, JUST SAY NO!!!!!
Not bad for the money.
The apartment is great: large bedrooms, walk-in closets, nice sized kitchen. The rent is reasonable, and when I've needed repairs, the management has been responsive.

Parking is okay. There are a lot of children, but they are not unruly and they are not out late at night. People do hang-out in the parking lot, but they are generally quiet - I haven't experienced loud music blasting from a car stereo at 1am.

Generally, the place is a pretty good deal for the money.

A RETURNING TENANT
I HAVE LIVED HERE FROM 1996 TO 2002 LEFT AND RETURNED IN 2003 TO 2005. DURING MY TIME HERE I HAVE SEEN THIS PLACE GO FROM VERY BAD TO VERY GOOD. BUT LATELY IT HAS BEEN SLIDING DOWN DUE TO UNCONTROLLABLE CHILDREN AND NOT JUST TO SAY ONLY CHILDREN BECAUSE THERE ARE A FEW TRIFLING ADULTS AS WELL. I HAVE SEEN MAINTENANCE CLEAN UP BUT BEFORE THE DAY IS OUT IT LOOKS LIKE HELL AGAIN. MANAGEMENT HAS SENT OUT COUNTLESS NOTICES PLEADING WITH TENANTS TO HELP KEEP WHERE THEY LIVE CLEAN, BUT THIS IS TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS A SMALL COMMUNITY YOU HAVE THE MAJORITY OF THE COMMUNITY WHOM TAKE PRIDE IN WHERE THEY LIVE BUT THERE ARE ALWAYS A FEW IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO CAN CARE LESS. THE PROBLEMS THAT EXIST ARE NOT GERMAINE TO THE WHOLE COMMUNITY. HAVING SAID THIS I DO SEE ON THE HORIZON CHANGES FOR THE BETTER. SO TAKE IT FROM ME I HAVE LIVED IN OTHER PLACES THAT I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO. MAPLEWOOD WAS A PLACE I COULD COME BACK TO AND FELT IT WAS WORTH MY TIME UNTIL I BROUGHT A HOME OF MY OWN.

The worst apartment I've ever lived in!!!
I've hated living here since I moved in 2003. I wasn't even there a good thirty days before someone broke into my apartment and stole everything worth anything.

I've caught 4 mice since I've been here. I think that's so nasty!

The maintanence men are idiots! I don't trust them, so I only call for maintenance when it's an extreme emergency.

There are kids everywhere and not that I mind having kids around, because I have two of my own, but these kids throw balls and don't care whose car they hit. They litter all over the complex inside and outside of the buildings.

The place has too many roaches. It's just really nasty living there. I really can't wait till I'm outta there.

You can hear when others in the building are taking a bath or shower if you're in the bedroom. It's very noisey.

I can't feel the air condition in any of the back bedrooms. I can't feel the heat in the master bedroom and I've complained about that, but the maintanence guys just don't know what they're doing. Can you say, duct cleaning!!!!!

The office manager is so hard to catch up with. It's terrible. Just about everytime I call, I get voice mail. Just about everytime I'm driving by the rental office, she isn't there.

Now ain't this ------ for ya?
Only been here a month, and I have to agree with the previous response, the walls are very thin. Ever imagined what it would be like to live in a house of playing cards? Then come here!! You will hear your neighbors above, below, and beside you. Conversations, televisions, stereos (awaken a LOT at 4am to loud, booming bass), and not to mention loud arguments, domestic disputes, and intimate sounds (to put it tactfully)! The floors creak terrible, sounds like the poor floorboards are moaning in agony with each step (don't rent unless you're on the top floor, I found out the hard way). My upstairs neighbors are very loud when they're having sex. Sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling, ugh! I really don't want to hear my neighbor screaming out her boyfriend's name (Oh, Al!!!!) to the top of her lungs while they're having sex when I'm trying to get some sleep. When I first moved in, I noticed they had painted so thick, my A/C vent was partially covered as were some of my outlets, that I couldn't even plug in some of my appliances. The phone jack was broken as well. The halls stay dirty with sunflower seeds and potato chip crumbs all on the steps. Dumb people don't even have enough sense to take any pride in their home to keep the halls clean. I'm too embarrassed to invite friends & family over!!! And no one cleans the halls so food and dried Kool Aid stains remain there for days on end! Kids sometimes play in the hallway (there is no playground here, no pool either for that matter), and the parents never correct them, so I guess it's condoned here. Two weeks ago my ceiling was leaking which left a hole in the bathroom ceiling. I had to call a couple of times before it was finally fixed. Sometimes you get the answering service when you call during business hours. What about the office staff? Ha! There is none, it's only one person in the office, who is very unprofessional. These buildings appear to be very old, probably built in the 50's, if not the 40's. It's not well lit at night either, I feel like I need a flashlight when I come home at night. The apartment itself is spacious, but would I move here if I had to do it all over again? Hell no, and I would not recommend to anyone else either. Thank God it's only a 6 month lease!!! I feel like an inmate and this nasty complex is a penitentiary!
