Slow on simple repairs. Charges for senseless purposes even services you don't use. Waiting on window screens for 2 years and balcony door also. Broken closets that have fell on my sister numerous times. Roaches, spiders, leaking faucets but charge for water. No need for trash caddy but made to pay that. The exterminator comes and literally squirts in 2 corners of 2 rooms but they threaten a charge if you didn't remove everything from every cabinet. Random charges at any time and fluctuating rent monthly. You never know what it's going to be.

Management is very supportive and cares about you as a person.Really excited about the weight room. Hoping the pool will open in the near future. Dog friendly and their are dog cleaning areas. School supplies are being giving away this year and during the holidays the stuff will give gift bags out.

Terrible please take your money elsewhere
First of all if you are planning to pay $1000 in rent I would expect you to take your $1000 to somewhere nicer because living in new Irving Heights is not it what they need to do is tear this building down it is too much maintenance things when I moved into my apartment nothing worked at all bathroom didn’t work sink didn’t work for the dishes AC didn’t work and they didn’t provide anything for me and I was told will you have access to your bottom unit and I ended up having Covid because I had to walk up and down the steps to go take a shower and come back upstairs to my unit and then be sick right after I also had to provide my own fan and they did not reimburse nothing they are ridiculously charging fees for no reason at all. Trust me I rather pay $1000 somewhere else then keep putting my money into something that is nothing but miserable they don’t respond to you they act like they didn’t see your email and respond three weeks later and then wanna hit you with something else but on their end is their fault because they didn’t respond to the email nor do they answer their phones to send this up take your $1000 or however much you’re at your Sundays that take your $1000 or however much you’re paying for rent to somewhere else where you can be able to have everything the correct way these apartments is not what you want. I will be moving soon and paying for something better and nicer they give you a patio but you can’t have anything on your patio what is the purpose of paying for anything if you cannot have anything on your patio is supposed to be clean and you want to put up decorations but if you do you’re gonna be charged $100 to do so they are just taking your money and finding everything to charge you for and just making everything stressful take your money elsewhere like I’m doing and don’t rent here

When I initially applied to this apartment in 2015, the swimming pool was one of my attractions. That never happened up till now! Now there's talk of a gym, which I don't know if it will ever happen either. Management has changed over the years and even ownership of the property. With the last change, costs have significantly gone up with no commensurate improvement in living conditions. Progress has been made though, but very slowly. Molds grow on my clothes in the master bedroom closet due to the damp environment, ceiling paint flakes off in the living room, leaking roofs experienced on first floor in a two-story apartment, and a few other challenges. Overall, it is not a bad place for the initial price I came in. It is just poor maintenance and short-staffing issues that are causing me restlessness.

Overall, I enjoy living here. It is quiet for the most part, a close commute to my job, and the apartment is spacious. Lukas was nothing but nice and accommodating when I moved in. However the management company lacks self awareness. The apartments are spacious but completely overpriced. We pay for valet trash and they do not pick it up. Instead of getting a new company, reimbursing us, or providing a legitimate apology for the lack of service the company blamed us. Told us to stop "loitering" on a property in which we pay to live at. It's extremely tone deaf and blatantly racist. I was completely disappointed when I read that email. The parking pass policy is ridiculous as well. It is adding extra stress for no reason. I have lived at apartments that issued them and cars with passes were towed anyways at the owners expense because the truck "didn't see it". Sure cars illegally parked in a handicap spot or in front of the dumpster should be towed. But the rest is unnecessary. Again living here is not horrible but there are absolutely no working amenities they say they offer and there is a lot wrong with the actual unit therefore the rent should go down.

The Resident Portal - should allow us to make payments even after cutoff - With Covid being on rise things have been hard. I shouldn't have to wait until i have all my rent payment at one time then make a payment.

Management is a bit slow. Addicted people take drugs near apartment. Smells come from house. It's weird. Due to shot out happens more here, I don't recommend anyone to move in this apartment. Feel a bit unsafe here. Pest control is not effective here. Found a lot of insects inside the house. I wish management will look after and solve it promptly. Behaveiors is good of management anyway.

It saddens me to read the reviews for this property because I used to live here when I was in college, and it was great. Admittedly a lot can change in twenty years, but it's so sad to read the neighborhood has deteriorated to the point of having violence on the property. The apartment I lived in was 2612 -H, and it was a very nice apartment at the time, and it was quite large for a college student (one roommate) and having two bathrooms was great. We only had two bills, and that was electricity and cable, and the heat was included in the rent along with gas for cooking, water, and hot water. The only negative was there were only two washers and dryers on the first floor of each building, so we had to do our laundry during the week. The entire property was well maintained. I knew the neighborhood had deteriorated since I lived there but it is quite sad to realize it has deteriorated to the point that women don't feel comfortable walking to their cars during the day without being accosted by other residents. Are you sure the people threatening the residents actually live there perhaps they're visitors and the management has not been made aware of what is happening? I am sure there is a different property manager since I lived there but the name of the property manager then was Wanda, and she was the best. Make a formal report to Greensboro's local Better Business Bureau, and you can also put your rent in escrow at the courthouse for legitimate complaints you have against management if nothing is done. It is also the apartment management's responsibility to keep you safe within reason. They're not responsible for trivial things, but they are required to maintain a safe environment. Meaning if someone threatens you while walking to your car you are supposed to be able to complain to management, and if the person lives there, they are supposed to be sent a notice. If they are sent three notices for behavior, then management has grounds to evict the person/persons. There is also Greensboro Housing Authority, I am not sure if they can help you personally, but if you explain your situation, I am confident they can put you in touch with the proper people. Don't assume because you may not be well educated or you might be a low-income person you have to put up with these conditions. There is an alternative and if one door is closed in your face knock on another one. NEVER GIVE UP! Good luck to you all.

This place is horrible. Do not waste your money. I haven't even finished my lease and I've already been looking someplace else. We had a set move date of sept 1. Called a few days before to confirm. Was told they hadn't even started renovations. That should have been a red flag and I should have skipped it. Moved here oct 1. Got into my apartment and there was no fridge or stove. Told front office and I was told I had to wait until Monday. So there goes being able to eat anything other than fast food. On top of that there was an entire list of repairs that hadn't been done. Sure there was "new" paint but they didn't even clean the place first. There's painted over spiders, webs and let's not forget all of the roaches. My air conditioner hasn't worked since moving in. I go to the office almost weekly to tell them. They say they'll fix it. All they do it put more coolant in. Then they tell me "it's fine because the thermometer is reading 65" even though my thermostat is set to 71 and reads 80. Then they tell me "at least you have a/c. Some other tenants don't." Half the front staff is fine. There's one girl with attitude who seems to have a hard time relaying information and problems. They also can't seem to keep records straight. Make sure if you do move here, you keep receipts for everything. The neighborhood is whatever. Kids aren't really watched so if you like your car park away from the front.

This place is a death trap and a scam. Maintenance never gets done. I have personally watched tons of people move out of here because of major and even dangerous problems in and around the apartments, and if you complain, you just get an attitude from the people in the office and nothing is done about the problems. If anything is done, it is months later. The washer and dryers stay broke for months at a time. They also have a card system that is extremely inconvenient. They advertise a pool but it is never open. They rarely open it on weekends. They close it on Mondays, supposedly for maintenance, but no maintenance gets done. When they do open it, the pool is so cloudy and/or green and nasty that if somebody fell in, they would have to drain the water to find the person. They also have a major problem with overcrowding, because of non-residents using the pool. Their answer to this is to close the pool to everybody instead of just kicking out, and banning the people using the pool without permission. The photo I attached was while the pool was open.

This is by far, hands down, the worst place I have EVER lived in my life, and that includes a third-world country and a crime-filled neighborhood in Brooklyn notorious for regular shoot-outs. My neighbors are noisy, screaming and fighting at all hours of the night, and frequently using sexist and homophobic language and slurs. When I moved in, the landlords/management neglected to mention the fact that there have been two shootings at the apartment complex in the last three years, one of which resulted in two deaths. They also said they have 24-hour maintenance, which is a LIE, but more on that later. The common areas are not cared for by the complex at all; I frequently come home to find broken glass and trash everywhere. I have also found stolen shopping carts in front of my building, and OPEN half-drunk bottles of alcohol left on the ground (by the way, there are lots of children in this complex, and it says a lot about both my neighbors and management that these children's safety is not viewed as valuable enough for this issue to be addressed). In addition, there is a huge top-heavy tree in front of my building that is leaning over almost 45 degrees and could easily damage the buildings and harm tenants during a storm, and there has been no indication that this will be taken care of before ice and hurricane seasons arrive. When I first moved in, I assumed that management would have an extra key to my apartment, but after I had lived there for four months I received a call asking ME to burn THEM a copy of my key, because they had never had one and needed to give it to maintenance to come fix a leak in my downstairs neighbors' apartment. I burned them a copy of my key and left for a two-week Christmas vacation to see my family. When I returned, I found my bathroom light on, my tub faucet completely removed, and a hat, coat, and tools arrayed all over the bathroom, and a half-drunk, sweet-smelling cup of coffee on my sink that was undoubtedly attracting ants and roaches. When I spoke to management about this (on a Saturday), they told me that someone would be sent on Monday to retrieve the tools and reattach the faucet. No one came on Monday. When I told them about this, they promised someone would come on Wednesday. No one came on Wednesday. When I told them that, they promised someone would come on Friday. No one came on Friday, so I brought them the tools, coat, hat, and coffee cup myself and told them I would fix the problem myself. 24-hour maintenance? I think not. A few weeks later, I come home from work to discover that maintenance had come again to fix the downstairs neighbors' leak (which they apparently still had not permanently fixed after over 2 months). This time, he had tracked mud all over my bathroom floor, a huge amount INSIDE my tub, and somehow, on top of my toilet as well. Oh, and the knob in the shower that changes the flow of water from the tub faucet to the showerhead had been loosened to the point where I could not fix it myself and trying to turn on the shower simply resulted in a small amount coming out of the showerhead but primarily flowing out of the tub faucet. Livid, I went to management the next day to tell them about what had happened and demand they give me back the key they had me burn for them and let me know next time management needed to access my apartment, because I was sick of maintenance causing problems for me in order to ineffectively solve those for my neighbors and trashing my bathroom. They refused, saying that they needed to have the extra key in case of fire or emergency. When I asked why, if that was a case, they didn't have an extra key to my apartment for the first four months I lived there, her response was a shrug and "I can't answer that for you." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Oh, and to top it all off, they sent a maintenance guy to try and fix my shower knob, at which point he told me they had the wrong size knob but they should be getting the correct size within the week and would come to fix the problem them. It has been two weeks since then, and do you think the problem has been solved? Of course not! To sum up, this place is unsafe, poorly-run, and the management will regularly tell you lies about their services. I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone except if they cannot afford to live elsewhere. I will likely be breaking my lease early, because this is not acceptable at all and I am tired of being treated this way. I also plan on contacting the Greensboro Housing Coalition about this place. NEVER LIVE HERE IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO LIVE ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. - they charge outlandish fees to be able to use the onsite laundry facilities, and you have to pay a fee every time you wish to use the pool.

I have lived in this complex since September 2011, and the first apartment I lived in was a 2 bedroom on the first floor. There was a problem with the ceiling leaking in the bedroom and when it would rain hard, I had to get out of my bed in the middle of the night and break down my bed and try to get through the rest of the night on the sofa. It took 4 months for this problem to fixed then they never came to repair the ceiling that was an eyesore until I was moved to another apartment and was told that this was a much nicer building and a nicer apartment. This is the worst building I have ever lived in. The neighbors are extremely loud, there is no lighting in the breezeway and it is extremely dark at night, and to top it all off, there is an infestation of roaches and I have been here since November 2012 and they seem to be getting larger, faster, and multiplying each time the exterminator comes to spray which is supposed to be every week and sometimes is only once every other week or every two weeks. I have asked to be moved to another apartment and now they tell me that I can't move until the end of February. I have never been late with my rent and they treat me like I am not even paying any at all. The management here sucks and they don't care about their tenants. If this next move is not any better, I am breaking my lease and taking my business somewhere where it will be appreciated.

I have lived at Margate for 3 years, and I must say that within the last year and a half, THINGS HAVE CHANGED DRASTICALLY FOR THE BETTER!!! Maintenance & the office staff are GREAT!! Very friendly and caring, they have been exceptionally wonderful. I think at times people aren't able to look at certain things for what they are, and want to place blame for children and tenants personalities on the staff, when they have no control over the lack of parenting for some children, and I must say those things happen EVERYWHERE, not due to anything other than parents not looking after or spending time with their children. I personally LOVE Margate!! It's in a great location, its very affordable and they actually know your name there and care!If I had to reccomend it to anyone my vote is YES! You can only have certain issues if you place yourself into those situations, I speak to my neighbors, they speak back, and I have never been involved in any issue at Margate. I absolutely LOVE LIVING at MARGATE ON CONE!!!

Neighbors gossip about you like mad (some absolutely cannot mind their own business, they will stare at you like nobody's business. It will make you feel tempted to flip the bird. Believe me.) and are outwardly rude, and the children run about as though they've never learned any manners, constantly littering the lawns and leaving food everywhere. I've actually witnessed a little boy trying to throw a rock at my dog, and mind you, my dog was being taunted by this boy, and my dog growled back in response - that's what you will get with my dog if you give him attitude - I've even teased him playfully and he will bark back. It took every bit of my being not to walk up to him and slap him soundly, because that's what he needed! Just today, an elderly (55 , easy) neighbor from across the street was barked at by my dog because she reeked of her own dog, so I thought she'd understand. Nope. She swore him out under her breath, beyond a streak and a half, and I caught her, and called her out on it, asking her to quit it. She immediately shut up and walked back to her apartment, and when I walked out, she was giving me the evil eye from her apartment window! I could only shake my head and scoff in total disbelief. My husband witnessed the whole thing himself and even he was shocked, and this is his home turf - we are only here for a while so he can spend time with his family before we move out West. What in the world! Don't swear at my dog, I don't swear at yours! That's just how dogs are. The children here, have no sense of boundary and respect. It's almost as though the South has gone straight to Tartarus in a handbasket. If my Southern belle grandmother had seen me act unscrupulously as those children do, she would be beating me down with a broom! Risen from the dead - no doubt about it. They actively think they have the right to disrespect you if they see a reason to, imagined or not. I have taken to ignoring their presence and if they try to call my dog over (mind you, they've never waved, carried on a conversation with me or will run in the opposite direction as though I am carrying cooties), who absolutely loves kids, I pick him up and head home. I don't want to bother with them, that's how bad it is and I've worked in a daycare center for half of a decade - I love kids, and even almost set up my own daycare center! But those children? Their parents need prayer. It's only the little ones I grin and wave at, because they're so adorable, but the older ones? Forget about it. I'm shocked half of the residents here have yet to be evicted due to management's rules, the policies stated in the lease, and so forth. I have actually walked into the office and read a note left on a desk, from a resident reading, "So sick of those lowlifes! Can't wait to get out of here!" I'm already scared for the rest of my time here at Margate; I just hope I make it out of here with a sane mind and a grateful spirit. A couple of pluses for the apartment - they have very good maintenance, and will work with you. If they're late on something, they have a very good reason as to why, and it's not just an excuse - they are truly genuine. They also do their job - if there are any messes left on the ground, usually left by the chimney residents and the children, it is gone the very next day. They do a great job; and I love how they maintain the greenery out here and I'm from Portland, OR - so that is a lot coming from me. The management has shot up amazingly since the landlord's assistant was hired, and she is a brickhouse! She will pull every string possible, as long it's within policy, of course to ensure your safety and make sure all is running well in your home. She is A ! As for the landlord, my husband has said she's not very much a personality fit for a landlord, but believe me, her assistant? Amazing - she definitely is the shining gem of that office. If I sound like a crumegdeon, I'm not! I'm actually in my mid-twenties, raised on the West Coast, college-educated and I'm probably one of the most laidback people ever, but this experience living here hasn't completely entranced me at this point. I just hope it gets better as time goes on - but it may, or it may not. I am 50/50 on recommending Margate On Cone, but if I could suggest it to my friends and family, I would have to say no, just because of the ridiculous crowds of people out there and who wants to deal with that every hour of the day? I hate I am saying this, but it's the truth.

Can't wait to leave...
I have not enjoyed this complex very much. Management could definitely be better but most of all its just a bunch of ------, non home-trained children all in the streets being loud and riding their bikes as if they do not notice the hundreds of cars that come through. They are so dumb they actually sit there and just stare at you. They don't understand the meaning of sidewalk so they walk and play in the street. I guess I should be blaming the parents because its their job to teach them. Maybe they think its ok to let their children do whatever, but the sad thing is if something were to happen to these children, they will be screaming and cussing ready to fight someone because they are just ------ like that. People in my building are constantly smoking weed. It's so strong that I have to hold my breath when walking to my car. Since I have been here I have received maybe one "newsletter" from the office. They don't send out community newsletters on a monthly basis to address important issues or inform us on what is going on in the community. We have to call them which I don't think is right and I am pretty sure they have not addressed the issue of the ------ children and loud mouthed adults that are always screaming all over the place and running rampade in the parking lot. The office claims there is a "noise ordinance" policy where you only get three strikes and your out. They must have tossed that rule. They literally just sit in the office, collect the rent and oh yeah, they have to show the apartments. They are completely worthless. This complex also states that no aggressive breeds are allowed but I have never seen so many pit bulls in my life. I am constantly on guard when I take my dog out. Of course I'm not afraid to handle someone's pit bull if it tries to attack me or him. My dog is my world and I will not let anything or anyone harm him and there is not a jury in the world that would convict me. Maintenance is ok. Thankfully, I haven't had many issues in that area. But that is the most positive thing I can say about this place. I can't wait until my lease is up so do yourself a favor and don't sign one!!!

Unprofessional
This apartment staff will do anything to get you in but they do not honor their committment. Nothing works in the apartment. I have been here for 2-months and I still cannot use any electrical outlets on the left side of my apartment. Time Warner is the only allowed cable phon & Internet provider but because the Mgmt will not spend the money to upgrade the wiring and components I have not been able to get online and or use my cable. TWC has made 7 trips to help me but they informed me and maintenance of what is needed but no one has responded. Not happy and I have met several ppl here that is dissatisfied.

I am a tenant unfortunately at Margate on Cone, first let me start by saying the location is convient for me. When I first moved here the complex was not bad, but over time the complex has gone down hill, it time and persistence to get things fixed properly, that is if it ever gets fixed. Some of the people that are allowed to move in is not your most up standing citizens, and Im not saying that to say that I am better than anyone. Last but not least the management, not the secretary, see no evil, hear no evil, I guess its all about free rent; while us tenants who do pay rent have to deal with some of the unecessary nonsense that goes on unoticed.

The worst
Move somewhere else, it has been a horrible experience here. The new staff is very nice and it is not there fought that they took over a problem. However, problems still need to be taken care of in a timely manner. Renters are frustrated with them and the fake security that be driving around at night. This apartment complex needs to be torn down.
