Be cautious when thinking about living here
I would not recommend living at Riverview Apartments based on my experience. While I was out of town on vacation, my apartment door was left open by management. This represents a serious lapse in basic security and resident care. Communication with management has been consistently poor. Phone calls and messages are rarely returned unless the inquiry is related to leasing a new unit. For current residents, it is extremely difficult to get timely responses or support. There have also been ongoing maintenance concerns. The washer and dryer facilities are frequently out of order, and the elevator has been nonfunctional for over five months. Despite multiple assurances from management, including Ian, there has been no resolution. The building’s air conditioning policy is also problematic. Cooling is not activated until there are three consecutive nights above 55°, which often results in extremely uncomfortable indoor temperatures. My apartment has consistently been between 80–90°, which is not reasonable for a residential living environment. This raises concerns not only for personal comfort but also for the health and wellbeing of pets, which does not appear to be a priority. Adding to this issue, the hallways are air-conditioned while individual apartments are not. As a result, the only way to meaningfully cool down the unit is to leave the main door open, which creates obvious security concerns. Management has also advised residents to open windows to cool units; however, the windows do not have screens, exposing residents to outside elements, including insects, debris, and potential environmental issues. Parking has significantly declined in value. Valet services were removed, yet residents are still charged nearly the same rate for self-parking. One of the primary reasons I chose this property was the promise of secure, convenient parking and a safe living environment—neither of which has been consistently upheld. Additionally, mail theft appears to be an ongoing issue within the building, raising further concerns about security. The level of safety advertised does not align with the reality residents experience, and there does not appear to be adequate security presence. Prospective residents should exercise caution and carefully evaluate whether the current conditions and management practices align with their expectations before signing a lease. Overall, this property does not meet the standards typically associated with luxury living. I am documenting this experience to ensure an accurate representation of living conditions for others and to encourage accountability where needed.

It's a well run community clean nice people and safe beautiful views walking distance to everything or bus stops close by I enjoy the work out room and community room I will be renting it out to have some friends and family over.

Great location, but no amenities or security. Be sure to notice packages left unsecured at the building doorways and on the lobby floor because delivery drivers don't have access to the remote 'package room'. Maintenance issues stacking up, if you're not going to maintain the building, just sell it before it gets worse.

promised to fix for 2 months and have not
Before i moved inti new apt. i requested duct tape be removed and properly sealing put in. my heating bills have doubled. They fixed it and it looks worse they didnt remove tape from windows. I am embarassed and have asked repeatedly to fix. Also the elevator a is still down and I have requested to fix dangerous equipment in gym and they still have not. Do not waste money coming here.

The quality of the apartment living has gone down in the year since I've moved in. One of the elevators has been out of order for nearly my entire stay here, valet trash was unwanted and I am going to be charged despite not using it.

10+ Year Resident: Parking Disaster Under Berger
As a 10+ year resident, I am horrified by Berger's sudden decision to remove valet parking with zero resident input. No surveys or satisfaction checks were conducted, and the abrupt change left no opportunity for feedback to be considered. Despite many residents repeatedly complaining, Berger dismissed, ignored, and gaslit tenants while showing no empathy. When asked about guest parking, management suggested guests pay costly street or garage rates. The valet-designed garage had its lifts ripped out, cutting parking by about a third, and forcing residents to park off-site, creating serious safety and liability concerns.

disappointed long-time resident
I moved to River Vue because it was a luxury apartment building in a great area of downtown Pittsburgh. The building management at the time was very responsive to resident concerns. Since Berger took over management, we are paying more fees and getting less services and amenities. Berger is unable or unwilling to manage a luxury apartment building. A long time resident told me that this is no longer a luxury building. The situation here continues to deteriorate. Long-time spots are not removed from the carpets. The elevator has been out for months. Previously sidewalks were shoveled after snow. This is not done now, leading to potentially unsafe conditions. Like the elimination of valets, the change to valet trash was suddenly announced. This is a terrible situation. Having trash cans outside each door will cause odors and could attract vermin. Leaks could lead to new spots on the already spotted carpets. The trash chutes were here and worked successfully for years. Why has current management changed this and given us a future charge. Many other residents are upset by this change as we were by the elimination of valet parking. The valet trash will hurt the appearance of the hallways and further deteriorate conditions and lower the reputation of Berger (comments on BBB).

RENTER BEWARE
The reviews they have on this site do not include those from the many disgruntled tenants here at RV who were carefully omitted from inclusion. As a ten year resident - five of them under BERGER - the decline of this building and property are too numerous to mention. Berger even removed the term ‘luxury’ that once described what it was. They have zero concern about the community the tenants or providing a clean safe environment. They’ve taken away so many amenities too many to list. It’s no wonder Berger has an F BBB rating. Just come and speak to the residents here. Come see the stains and smells from not cleaning our carpets (once in 5 years). It’s sad. And there’s a pretty good chance u may get stuck in the elevators - there are two and one has been down for over two months now. With 15 floors it’s scary cuz you know that one elevator is next as they constantly both break down. It’s become the norm for us all. We have residents who can barely walk outside cuz Berger has yet to shovel or salt our sidewalks. It’s treacherous!! They. Just. Don’t. Care.

Property in decline
Since this building was bought by Berger it has steadily declined. What used to be a luxury, immaculately maintained building has become a disgrace. While rents have consistently been increased, Berger consistently removes amenities and fails at even basic responsibilities of a landlord. Common areas are not maintained, maintenance requests go unaddressed, snow removal is not done at all, communication from management is disingenuous and security is non existent. As a long time resident, I am heartbroken that my home has been allowed to come to this. I would not recommend this building to anyone and will be moving once my lease expires… unless Berger sells and a responsible management company brings this building back to what it should be.

Downward spiral
I've been living here a few years and generally have been satisfied. There really are zero amenities though, with the only one that we had being valet parking. That was recently ended and now I have to park a few blocks up the street. Walking icy, dark city streets at night in winter is not something to look forward to in winter. Elevators have been in down for varying lengths all year, with the freight elevator out for several months and now one (of two) passenger elevators out of service for the past 2 months. The building was converted to apartments 13 years ago and it doesn't appear they have kept up with maintenance and several tenants noting appliances and HVAC issues taking weeks or months to be corrected. Every time they seem to blame parts issues. That's just poor planning. Getting parts for older appliances isn't easy and only getting worse as they get older.

I liked living here until the Valet Parking was taken away, without any consultation with us. The building feels cold and abandoned, and unsafe. I do like that the elevators were fixed (all the broken panels). Thank you for that. Also, it is dirty, there are never any carts to bring up groceries, and the front lobby, which should be welcoming, is filled with packages. No one from the front office bothers to take them up to the package room; they just sit in the lobby. Also, the lock to the package room and Community room is not turned on so anyone can enter, without a record of who has entered. Feels very unsafe & people say they are having trouble with stolen packages (I have not had an issue with stolen packages however). Very sad about the building under the new management and without the Valet. DO NOT FEEL SAFE anymore.

The view of the three rivers converging at Point State Park is beautiful. Maintenance is topnotch. I am very happy with everything so far. Elevator repair is still happening but hopefully finished soon.

You don't want me to share my current experience with the Apartments at Riverview community. It is currently in the toilet. Any folks considering renting here ? BEWARE. So it looks like I need to provide some details?horrible management of maintenance, filthy floors and carpets with numerous stains from pets relieving themselves inside, and with removal of the valets and not having a car, I am very concerned about not be able to load and unload my shopping. Today there are ZERO issues when I need to do this.

Around midnight last night, several people were loitering near the building entrance on the parking lot side while smoking marijuana. The smell permeated into the elevator, causing dissatisfaction and concern regarding the regulations and management system.

Really have enjoyed the experience so far here. Staff is very kind And apartments are great. I love the location next to the bike path so I can bike to work. Residents seemed very nice as well. Elevator is very quick

Great experience touring. Will definitely consider this for our next move. I love that this place doesn't have a monthly amenities fee unlike Morgan Properties. The staff was helpful and the apartments are spacious.

I just moved but so far it's very nice. The in unit washer/dryer is actually 1 piece which I feel is inconvenient and doesn't do as good of a job as a regular 2-unit setup. But very nice apartment spaces and lovely staff

The apartment unit is nicely updated and conveniently located in the city. Parking however needs to be considered prior to signing lease as valet parking is expected to be discontinued shortly and this complex is not designed for self parking so it will be chaos.

Perfect location you can walk to cultural events,sporting events, numerous eateries and if you work your a five minute walk to the T or bus stops. You're also about 15 minutes from the Strip district steps from Market Square and pretty much on the edge of Point State Park

Everyone is super nice and great, just inconvenient because of the issues with the apartment when trying to move in. We were not able to spend the night because of these issues. However the community overall is great and very friendly and welcoming.
