Hate it Hate it Hate it!!!!

I've been here for almost a year and I'm almost done with this hell hole. A close vicinity to Runyon is all your going to enjoy with this poorly maintained building. Not all the tenants are bad but most them are a bunch of irresponsible kids who act like their in a college campus and they trash the place by not picking up after their dogs, letting them urinate everywhere, knocking over trash cans and vandalizing the elevators. Maintenance tends to show up on their own schedule but overall they are very nice and they do get the job done. Here is what has driven me over the edge and some of you may not care but this just bothers me to no end, there are two outdoor jacuzzis in the back courtyards which are always occupied by the same group of people EVERY SINGLE DAY! and not only do these losers hog up the jacuzzis but they yap away in the middle of the night during a work week keeping me up at all hours. Security is suppose keep that area closed during certain hours but lately they just don't care. Look somewhere else this place is way overpriced you'll just be picking up the tab for the hot tub crowd who probably don't even live there.

DO NOT MOVE HERE

This place is honestly the worst of the worst. I am on my 5th month out of a 6 month lease, thank god I'm almost out. This place looks nice when taking a tour but once you move in you suffer from listening to other people having sex, animals barking 24/7, and paper thin walls. All the apartments surround a pool, meaning EVERYTHING echoes, whoever designed this place was probably high. Due to the echo problem you will be tortured by hearing everyones conversations, sex, music, and t.v shows. Especially late at night when you need to sleep. You hear peoples animals howling all day long. I have found many dead roaches around my apartment DISGUSTING! The management team is not the best, nice people, but the lagg big time, they never tell me when I have a package and then out of nowhere i'll get a notice on my door, email, and voicemail demanding I pick up my package (that I didn't even know arrived yet) ASAP because it's taking up their space. Things that have been fixed in my apartment have the craftsmanship of a 3 year old. Goopy glue oozing out of cabinet handles...Basically, don't move here, I'm just trying to save you the problems.

Resident dies at the Vantage!

I can't wait until my lease is over. About a year ago my neighbor died in his/her apartment, I think of drug over dose. In that same apartment I think there was prostitution. Prometheus is the is the worst. They never take complaints serious and when you move out the charge you for everything! If you move here you will be sorry however if you want to live at the ANIMAL HOUSE then go ahead!

The Best

I moved into the Vantage apartments three months ago and couldn't be happier. The on site staff is so helpful, and they are there everyday to assist with any needs or concerns a tenant may have. The location is perfect - especially if you want to take advantage of living at the gate of Runyon Canyon. And the building with all it's amenities is exceptional. The fact that there is a luxury building in this great location is ideal. I love living here and I do not plan on leaving for a long time.

3 1/2 year renter just moved out.

I have lived here almost 3 years and January 2010 will be my last month at the Vantage/Seravella apartments. Although my stay has not been all bad, I am leaving for more than a couple reason. 1) rent is way too high, especially for the small apartments. I paid $1650 for a 1 bedroom with about 560 square feet of space. Since I moved in before the renovations, we didn t have a washer/dryer in the unit. I know those go for about $1800. Keep in mind that the rent is $1610 but they charge you an additional $25-30 for water and trash, and require that you have renters insurance which is at least another $18. It s comical that they don t cover water/trash because every place we looked at for our recent move does. It s even worse since every year during the rainy winter months, the hot water would go out for a day or two. This would happen multiple times during the coldest months. Try waking up at 6am and taking an ICE .ICE COLD shower then stepping out to 55-60 degree weather. 2) way too small. I just moved into an almost 1000 square ft apartment for $1200 a month(they pay for water/trash). 3) the roaches are a new thing but once they re there, they are your roommates. In the last few months, it went from seeing them outside the building to now having them in my bathroom, kitchen, etc. I know a few other people have mentioned things that I learned to live with but are 100% true. 1) Noise. Yes. Doesn t matter what day of week, you have drunk people making all kinds of noise. Someone else said it was like a frat house. I work a 9-5 Mon-Fri job and I am a minority in this place. Most people are struggling actors/singers/etc. that are living off of Yup. 2) dog poop/urine. Yup. they try to clean it up but this place has a lot of dogs. 3) Staff. I don t hold anything against them because it s a s**t job and has so much turnover I never deal with the same people for that long. How could I expect that they know the place. The only person this place is a fit for, works odd hours, loves to waste money, and has a dog and just has to be that close to Runyan Canyon, no matter how much they over pay. In this rental market, Prometheus Management needs to wake up and realize how many options people have and lower their prices. As a renter, you should realize how many options you have and rent elsewhere. I forgot to mention that the elevators are always broken and that too many ------ bags that live here like to deface elevator doors, fire alrms/exstinguishers, and anything they feel like destroying. This all adds to the frat house element.

stay away this place is a mess

The complex and the apartments look very nice when you tour, but don t be fooled. Throughout the 18 months I lived in my apartment at the Vantage I found dead roaches all over my apartment. They were tucked in every nook and cranny, in the carpet, in the cupboard, and even in the vent for my stove. For the small unit it was outrageously overpriced. I was woken up almost every night with some drunk person(s) coming in at 2am 3am ect. This would be fine on the weekends, but it was almost every day. If you have a normal 9 to 5 job I don t recommend living there at all, YOU WILL NEVER GET A GOOD NIGHTS REST. It s pretty much like living in a frat house. Management will put up signs, some jerk will rip them down, they put up new siding in the elevators, some jerk will key it. The complexe was continuely under construction and most days I chose to take the stairs, because the elevators would take forever, and sometimes one or both would be down. Also - don't think your car is safe in the garage, management sent out several notices during my time there warning people to lock their cars and take their valuables with him after cars were broken into and vandalised. Management is slow to respond and often unfriendly. I felt like I was intruding on their space whenever I went in to the office to ask about my rent or make a service request. And overall, it stinks, people allow their dogs to pee all over the complex and there have been several times where a dog has defecated on the carpets in the halls. And the barking never ends. My adive STAY AWAY. There are so many options in Hollywood, you won't have a problem finding something cheaper and better.

Don't move here

Don't move here if you expect your deposit back. The Vantage nickel and dimes you for everything! And do not fall for their specials because it may sound appealing at first, but in the long run you will end up paying for it. They will raise your rent if you do decide to stay, and not$25 more like $200. The location is great, I cannot lie. But everything else about that place sucks. It's dirty and loud, not very private, and management is not helpful at all! So glad I am out of there!!!

You Might As Well Just Bend Over Now

This place is way too expensive for what you pay for... granted the appts are clean, everything seems to break, my bathroom sink has flooded many times spilling over onto the floor. My shower doesn't drain properly. People above your are VERY loud. Most places face inward so it is incredibly noisy, the maintenance workers use their walkie-talkies so loud it wakes you up at 6 am when the get here. There is NO guest parking at all, my friends have been towed before. I am moving to a new place and for what im paying for a 1 bedroom i could be getting a 2 bedroom with a loft. Please look for more places before settling here

Get a Vantage point from a different Hill...

Um-ok. I've been here exactly three years, and the longevity comes from the promise from management that things will get better, my wife and I are partially disabled, and I've been too busy to look elsewhere. However- In the first year, I woke up to jackhammering every days of the week. The hallways and courtyards were gutted, pools that were either out of commission or treated with nuclear waste, and the elevators NEVER (and still don't) work properly. I read that another reviewer was stuck in one for 45 min.- I was stuck in one for an hour and a half and missed an important meeting as a result. Oh, and the management were rude, unhelpful pirates that prided themselves of broken promises and deceptive lies. Like when we were promised a re-sign on our lease at the same rate and they conveniently forgot about it and tried to raise it $500 for our 2nd year. Currently, the building had a glossier renovated facade and has NEW management (with an employee turnover of about 8 minutes), but its the same show. Maintenance people are kind and helpful and more capable of running this business than anyone in office, but that's about it. Its a constant minefield of dog waste and unchecked drunken parties. There IS prostitution here, the parking situation is awful. There are some very jovial neighbors but most are absolutely terribly. Regarding a handicap issue we once had, the response from the manager was 'uh, this is private property, we're not obligated to do accommodate you'. There are also fire alarms going off all the time, and apartment entires more often that I care to think about ( andrarely with permission). I don't even know what else to say. But the icing on the cake and the reason I'm writing this review IS: Tonight I was SERVED papers informing me that I am being SUED by Vantage for supposedly not paying rent (which I did), and before pulling the trigger on sending the dogs (maybe they are the ones peeing everywhere), they didn't even have the decency to call us to sort things out. So after three years, I am leaving, and happy to do so. Stay away from this dump.

Management sucks, they are so fake... Everyone run away. My lease is up in 3 months and I'm out of here. Rent somewhere else. They are a big corporate company and looking to raise rent once your lease is up. Mine is going up 150 per month YUCK!

I lived in this building for nearly 2 years. This was only because I was too busy to look elsewhere. The location is great, thats about it. The most annoying thing is the elevators... They dont work properly...so it can take nearly 10 minutes to get from my car to my apartment. There are four, but commonly one is out of order. I was told that they might be repairing them in 2010!! The management are useless - they act like they care to get you to lease an apartment...but once your sign you will regret it. The building is dirty, is you like dog pee then this is the building for you...always dog pee in the common parts, mainly ground floor and near elevators Theres not security cameras - Other than that - the management are useless They have entered my apartment without permission. Everything is finished cheaply - they are constantly painting all the walls, floors, and anything thats screwed down. In summary, the building looks good - but is expensive and cheaply finished. I have hear that cars get broken into...but mine never was

I currently live here and it's fine. I actually like it. Maintenance people are always nice and helpful. It's clean, parking is good. Neighbors are nice. I have no complaints.

ROACHES BEWARE

This place totally sucks. Roaches, Floods, ignorant manager, and prostitution ...those are some of the words that comes to mind when I think about my experience at the DISADVANTAGE AT HOLLYWOOD HILLS. The manager has about a third grade education and thinks she can act but that it is all that it is ...an act. She cant spell or use correct grammar she is more like hooked on Ebonics. The maintenance sucks they have one guy that cant even read. The elevators suck i was stuck in the elevator for 45 min on a friday night , the sinks backs up all the time, there is so much prostitution that goes on in this building. If I were you I would RUN RUN RUN from this place. The prices are way to high for the crap you have to put up with.

i'm not sure what these people are talking about

I read all these posts and ratings while I was thinking about signing a lease, and now I'm really glad i totally ignored them. This apartment complex is great. I don't know what you people expect (is not a hotel for God's sake) it's clean, quiet (of course dogs bark from time to time but it is a pet friendly complex) the staff is really nice and professional. We've had couple of maintenance requests that were resolved in a reasonable amount of time. I even had them to change my parking spot and they did it the next day. Overall love the place, like the people who live here and the rent is very reasonable. If you really want to know about this place stop by and talk to a few tenants. don't believe these posts. chances are these are people that couldn't afford their rent and had to be evicted.

Horrible... pricey... STAY AWAY

At first I over looked the construction and mess (2 years) because I thought it would be better... The place is always dirty and they keep redoing everything because of poor quality work and vandalism. There are always dogs barking and dog ---- and urine in the halls and elevators. The walls are paper thin and you can hear the neighbors talking and when then come home late at night. My lease is up and I am free from this horrible place. ANother bad sign is that it keeps changing its name... St. James, Serravella, and now Vantage.

VANTAGE AT HOLLYWOOD HILLS IS HELL ON EARTH

Worst building in the world. I, like many others moved here, knowing the reviews and rating were bad. Now I am in the middle of a lawsuit for over 10k with them due to mold, water damage,and various other health code violations. JACK AND HEIDI are the worst people in the world. I moved out earlier this year because more than the mold and damage, I could not handle dealing with them for one more day. Worst place in the world. Its not worth it for the pools and gym. There are other places. This place is the worst.

Getting Ripped Off

I use to rent a studio apartment at this complex when it was called Serravella Apartments. I always had issues with trash, loud noise, dogs and maintenance issues. I was paying $1060.00 for the smallest studio. Now this place basically repaints itself and adds granites and is getting $1500.00 for the same studio. HAHAHAHAH!

DON'T rent here

I just moved out after 3 years of HELL.. Seriously this place looks good on the outside and once you move in you start to see what it's really all about... The managers are -------s, they don't care if you have a problem and will not try to help you with anything... I had a neighbor above me that use to have parties till 5 AM and all I would hear was pounding on the floor, like someone was bowling.... Then another time, the same neighbor, unplugged his washing machine (because he was stoned off his ---) and my apartment flooded... Yet management did nothing... If you want to live in a small apartment where the walls are thin and dog owners let there dogs pee in the hallways.. then this is the place for you :)... The reason I spent 3 years here, was because I couldn't find anything else in the area I liked that was priced reasonably.. Finally I was lucky to get out of there, and am SOOOO much happier.

the barking dogs and other noise

i've gotta say this has been one of the worst rental experiences of my life. what everyone else has said is pretty much true, but they forgot to mention the barking dogs and the people running around and yelling in the middle of the night or getting up early in the morning and using the pool and jacuzzi (which by the way are nice). it's always a party going on here. but the most annoying thing: the barking dogs early in the morning... it is an absolute nightmare. what's sad is the tenants are all really cool well most of them which leads to my next little revelation: someone here actually disabled a fire alarm. i don't know how, or when, but there was this big inspection as they tried to track down the culprit. i don't know the outcome. as for the security, i don't know how any fool would try to break into a car here. there is a guard that patrols the grounds. and people are up at all hours so somebody is bound to see something.

Cockroaches galore. Disgusting.

This place is full of cockroaches. I was reading previous posts and saw that others have roach problems. I know that managment has a pest control agency they use to treat apartments but correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need tent the entire building and fumigate in order to get rid of the problem completely? No wonder why the cockroaches keep coming back. There was a huge cockroach in the elevator (the one going to outside not the garage) the other day. Does anyone not see this stuff?

I think a quote I heard in the business says it best... "A good property manager is always an assumed amenity that is never listed on the brochure." To be frank I live in one of the renovated units and for the most part I really like the finishes. The community in general isn't half bad... I can put up with construction and the ongoing improvements (even if it takes 6 weeks to replace carpet in a hallway). I would consider myself a very easygoing person. Sure, I have had my share of sleepless nights because of the noisy neighbors with no response from your "security". Sure I have been scolded in a shower when the temperature fluctuated drastically from luke warm to steaming hot and back again every minute or so (which by the way is a violation of city code). I have dealt with walking up 6 flights of stairs because the elevator to my floor is not working for 4 days straight. I have experienced people parked behind me in my own space so I was an hour late for work. All of that was a nuisance, but I could deal without complaining. What I can complain about is this "amazing" management you so feverishly defend. I have been graced with the experience of many apartments and their managers... and I have to say your team is the worst. So many times has my rent check been lost only to receive a notice on my door (I have always paid on the 1st)? So many times have I called with a question or maintenance request only to be given a runaround and ultimately told I could not be helped. Jack- don t answer the phone if you are not in a position to help someone... don't make excuses that you are not at your desk... it gets old after the 3rd or 4th time. The resident relations expert is abrasive with no patience or communication skills. You never tell someone to call their lawyers if they have an issue. What do you think YOUR job is? I cannot comment on this manager.... she hides behind the rest of her staff and when I ask to speak with her I am told she is either busy or I simply need to speak with Jack or the wonderful resident relations person. Wow, I truly never realized how annoyed by their ineptitude I was until I typed it out. This is your job, I have mine and do it well... step up and stop hating it, maybe you might find you can actually perform up to expectations if you try. FYI the rest of the staff, maintenance and office, is great it s just so sad that a few in leadership can ruin the community.

Ugh.. This place sucks.

I just moved in here and I hate it already. The managers are a bunch of idiots. Everytime I go downstars to get a package they can't find it. I mean really, it doesn't take five people to find a package? At Serravella apartments it sure does. My apartment has cockroaches. There is always dog pee on the floors and in the elevators. There hasn't been a day that there hasn't been construction. Half of the time only two of the four elevators work. Not to mention there are 293 units here and only four elevators so you can only imagine how long it takes to get downstars when the elevators are being occupied by the construction workers. The rooftop is suppose to be open at 10am but it never is. You have to go downstars to the leasing office and ask them to open it. I have been woken up three times so far at anywhere between 3 to 4 am by people partying in the courtyard. The carpet was just replaced less than a month ago and is already starting to come unglued. Do not move in here. It is overpriced ($2,000 for a one bedroom) and you'll hate it just as much as I do.

Just Moved

I have to agree with all the other reviews on this page. I was there for 16 months and lived on the first floor. The only good thing about living there was the canyon is right up the street to hike and the Kodak Theater is right down the street, walking distance BUT that only means the road is closed during all the special events making traffic even worse. It is VERY noisy and management is changed so much because the morons that own the building won't listen to anything they say. Management's hands are tied with the corporate office and owners crazy ideas about what they seem to think is good for the area and the building. I would avoid this building like the plague. The only way I would move back is if the rent was really cheap and then you would have to deal with all the trash that would move back in there....Good luck to the current management trying do anything........OH and when you try to make your patio area cute and homey they tell you to take everything down!

worst building ever

I moved in this year, and I hate it... The rooftop has been close for almost 6 months and they told everyone it would be completed in 1 month. There is always water in the garage. It is noisy. Management never does a think if you put in a complaint. They will try to renovate your apartment whilst you are living in it.... DON'T BOTHER RENTING HERE
