BEWARE
Ok, these apartments are a joke, I have been gone for several months but i decided to check this site out and see what rating everyone has given and of course it is low! GOOD! FIRST OFF these apartments are WAY overpriced! so let me start from the outside in: **Outside it sooo nice...they keep it clean...mowed..etc, and they make sure you pick or dog poop up which is a good thing! if not you get charged $25! GOOD! I hate stepping on dog poo and I have a dog so I would not want him getting sick from another dog **Inside: This is were it gets crazy! The walls are cheap, I put one of those sticky hooks on my wall for my dog leash, the day I moved out i took it down and all of the paint ripped off of that section! My toilet would get mold all the time (imagine seeing black mush slither down your toilet bowl every other day YUCK (gives me chills thinking about it now! oh and bleach works for about 2 days that's it!) cabinets are cheap, the island is made of hard rock/concrete so if you if kids that like playing around if they hit that island you better be ready to dial 911! The hot water is joke! no need to talk about that previous reviews say it all! The cable is a joke! just get time warner you are better off! They never replaced my carpet it smelled like mold when i first moved in and THEY HAD THE NERVE TO TRY AND CHARGE ME FOR THE SAME CARPET WHEN I LEFT ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! YEAH right! and I think they (illegally if you ask me) walk into your apartment to find things to charge you for example, reading some of the reviews other say the same! ok this is what happened, I got a puppy...now i have no problem paying the deposit for the pet but it was around thanksgiving and christmas so i wanted to wait until i got enough money to pay it (which was only about 2 months) now there was not notification about a furnace check...termite check...or anything else that any apt complex would put up before they enter, now my complex was close to the retirement home and the leasing office was close to the front which is a nice walk and i never bought my dog out much but for some reason i receive a notice about my dog! now was it my neighbors?? hmmm i got along with all of them..and they would tell me stories of how they have pets that they gave no notice for and still haven't! (shhh) but yet i get a letter telling me i have a dog and to pay the deposit NOW! #bastards! Bottom line this is not worth $900 bucks sorry! and as much construction they do on just a 5 yr old complex tells you something in itself. if your on the bottom floor sorry cause the floor boards between the two are weak! The office staff are ok, I like Jessica very customer service material, Kara don't know much about her but I heard she screamed at a neighbor who dog she thought was over the weight limit but the chick did not even stay there she was just walking her dog in the area! Pat...hmmmm she does not know anything! that's all! The maintenance is always on time and they fix all the problems they are EXCELLENT, they communicate with you, hell i would rather see them up front in the leasing office! I am gay...and there is SOOO MUCH EYE CANDY HERE! GEEEZ!! and there are a lot of gay couples here too! :) But still not worth $900 glad I am gone!

Excited at first, but ultimately dissapointed
Moved into Cityview in 2009. I work downtown, so I thought the close location was good for my needs. Had a 1 bedroom on the second floor and at first it was great, but I ultimately learned it was horrible. I battled with my hot water heater for almost two years and asked for a replacement. Instead, they would send a maintenance man up to push a button on it that would reset it. I CAN DO THAT MYSELF. What I really needed was a new unit, not a mystery as to whether or not I would be taking an ice cold shower in the morning. I don't have time to wait around for an hour to let the unit reheat the water, but every time I filed a complaint this was their solution. The price is outrageous, but they tell you that you get "free cable and high speed internet" included in your price, so it seems as though you would get a little break on it. Don't be mislead. Time warner cable charges for anything aside from standard-definition local channels, so its not exactly free. The internet is a joke. The company they've hired basically split one data line into an entire network for the buildings, so you are sharing internet with the entire complex. I can see and access other tenant's computer files (which is NOT safe) and it is not secure enough to log in to my work VPN. But all of that doesn't really matter, considering there is not enough bandwidth to work from home anyway because you are sharing what the average customer would get for personal use with the entire building. I STILL stuck around despite all of this and was thanked by being woken up every morning (weekends included) by construction crews constantly fixing problems with the building. What those problems are I cannot say, considering the management would only refer to the problem in a vague manner. I can only assume that they were in dire need of being corrected to bring the building back up to code. Not good. When I moved out, I left the apartment how I found it. They had not cleaned in time before I got there, so I was left to do that myself. When I showed them the same courtesy they slapped a 350 dollar bill on me, only $100 of which was paid by my deposit. When I called to ask what happened to the rest of my deposit they informed me that only $100 of the initial deposit was refundable. What?!? That doesn't sound like a deposit to me, it sounds more like another method of gouging their customers for money. This is the thanks I get for giving them over $36,000 over the past 3 years? Give me a break.

*THRILLED* New Tenant
We moved into City View in December of 2011. We are very satisfied with our selection. We had looked for several months; thinking we would move sometime this spring. It turns out we wanted to move early so that the unit we really wanted would still be available. When we compared the cost of the other places we looked at, the amenities they offered and the quality of the space, it was obvious to us that we wanted to be at City View. We are proud to show our apartment to all of our friends and love entertaining in our new space. We are really looking forward to summer when we can walk into North Town to see a movie or go to dinner. During our search we saw apartments in Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, Downtown KC, North Kansas City and even further north by the airport. At the end of our search we found the apartment for us. It was at City View. The staff was pleasant and helpful and when we visited 3 times and had to see several units twice our agent never got tired of helping us. On the day we signed our lease we found out that were were eligible for another discout that had recently come up. When we moved in we were provided a checklist to make sure everything in the apartment was up to our standard. The few *MINOR* issues we saw were fixed in under 3 days. After the move-in we came across a couple more things we wanted looked at. They were happy to help and were fixed the next day on both occasions. I have had the opportunity to meet a couple of the maintenance staff, they were very friendly, polite and helpful. One even took initiative to fix something without even going to the office. I have lived in several rentals since college (almost 20 years ago. I'm no youngster). Some apartments and some single-family homes. This is by far my favorite place ever!!!

Don't move here!! Not worth your money
I moved in December 2010, I saw the model and when I saw my apartment it was not even close. I lived on the bottom level, my what they call a porch faced the street. What a great scene that was. Loud Trucks, cars you name it all going to Quik Trip. My dishwasher never worked even after they worked on it. my internet never worked right. And ---- the Manager is very rude.

Construction nightmare
We decided to leave after being at City View for a few years because of ongoing construction and new terrible neighbors (complaints were ignored). Every week they would use a leaf blower in the hallway, blowing debris into our apartment. The construction was terrible, months and months of noise and fighting construction equipment for room in the parking lots. Portable toilets in the parking lot for the workers. You can hear every foot-fall of your neighbors, EVERYTHING is heard if neighbors are loitering in the hallways. Even though we changed our filter monthly, this was the dustiest place. Never quite understood why I had to dust so often. One day the maintenance man started to enter our apartment with a construction guy, even though they hadn't given us notice they needed to come in. I was home and didnt get to it in time before he had the key in the door and opened it! We actually moved out two months before our lease was up, but paid out the lease as if we were still there.

Poor Customer Service and Construction, not worth the money!
I saw this property online December or so of 2010 and decided to move in after meeting with Jessica and seeing the staged apartment only, that was not a fair picture of what the apartments look like or how poorly the actual apartment is, I have lived here since Feb 2011 and we stupidly signed a 15 moth lease. For starters the Manager Kara is super rude and terrible at her job, poor social and customer service skills. When we moved in the apartment hadn't been cleaned, and the carpet as well wasn't cleaned. The month we moved in our 3rd floor apartment flooded by the balcony door. the carpets seems are glued together in viable areas the vinyl tiles in the kitchen and bathroom keep coming up. When our apartment flooded the Maintenance manager informed me that they have been having structural issues since with the property since the property was built and that the was on the third construction company fixing issues , no one informed us of this when we was signing a lease. I have a baby/toddler now who couldn't sleep in his room for almost 4 month while they worked on the light tower . I would not have moved her if I knew a newer property 5 yrs old maybe would be under so much construction. The halls in the buildings are always dirty, the walls and concrete should at least be power washed every 6 months or so... I hate this place and wish we could move out at the end of February, but we are stuck if this crap hole until the end of may. DONT MOVE HERE ITS REALLY NOT WORTH IT!

Poor Customer Service- Wouldn't Recommend
I was a resident of City View for one full year. I enjoyed my apartment and the location: however, I was unimpressed with the quality of customer service I experienced during the move-out process. Please be sure to go on a walk-through with the manager upon vacating your apartment, as management will keep your desposit and charge additional fees dishonestly. I, along with 3 other individuals, spent one full day cleaning my apartment and I was confident that I would receive my deposit back based on the cleanliness of my unit. However, I was notified that management would be keeping my deposit and provided me with a list of additional charges, some of these charges falsly accusing me of things I did not do. When I called City View to inquire about these charges, the manager said, "I do not like to take these kinds of calls" and "I don't care how good of a tenant you were." Being in management myself, I was surprised by these statements. I wrote a letter to management of the property, Signature Property Management, expressing my concerns. They never responded. I am beyond disappointed in the level of dishonesty and the lack of excellent customer service provided by this complex and it's management.

Don't Do It!!!
I tried to like this place, I really did - but alas, it sucks and I can't wait to leave. I am tempted to break my lease to flee. Although the buildings are new, they were built with construction paper, fiberglass, duct tape, and prayers... the decks had to be redone, there are chips and cracks and mold seeping in places, I swear this air conditioner doesn't work correctly, etc. etc. etc. I don't have enough room to type the complaints on the shoddiness of my apartment/ this complex alone... The tenants here are rude and inconsiderate (don't get me started about what I have seen at this raggedy pool... in front of children...ugh), the employees seem slow, indifferent, and incompetent. The area is quiet and boring and not really near anything of value unless you feel like driving.

Very Happy CityView Resident
My husband and I have been extremely happy at Cityview. We have been here almost a year and are planning to renew our lease. Because the apartments are less than 5 years old, everything seems quite new and in good shape. We have only had 2 minor maintenance requests in the past year, and both were taken care of the day after submittal. The porch construction was unfortunate, as some people have mentioned, but they stored our porch furniture free of charge (even came to remove it, and then replaced it after the construction was finished) and gave everyone a bottle of wine when it was all done as a thank you for putting up with the inconvenience. We have found insulation to be very good. We rarely hear our neighbors, even though we are surrounded by units on four sides. Because of this, we can leave our heater off until it gets extremely cold outside because the our neighbors' apartments heat ours too. Compared to the pries you would pay to live downtown, the apartments are very spacious, and there's lots of places for storage. Parking is free, and there are always available spots. The location is wonderful. North Kansas City is like living in a small town that's a 10 min drive to downtown KC or the northern suburbs. Cityview is within walking distance of the public library, CVS, Save-A-Lot, the Screenland Movie Theater, and several restaurants. We would happily recommend these apartments to anyone!

Overpriced for what you get. Management lacks credibility and often degrades tenants. Where are the owners??? I wouldn't live here again. The money per what you receive is inequitable. Good luck to anyone who resides here!

Best place I've ever rented!
I recently moved out of CityView. I would have stayed, but had to move back into my house. The staff at City View is amazing! They are always so super nice and always try to accommodate. I once lost my puppy, and they went way out of their way to help me with finding it. They are always attentive to maint. needs. Can't say enough great things!!! AWESOME PLACE TO LIVE!

Location is the only redeeming quality
Every negative comment is true! As a 3 year resident I have experienced every problem voiced by others. The construction project that began in August continues to drag on with no end in sight. There have been zero accomodations made to the redsidents during this period. In fact, the stellar office staff went so far as to claim that our balconies are not included in the square footage we rent & are common ground on the property!!! Buildings are so poorly contructed and insulated it is ridiculous what they charge to rent these! Medicine cabinets are equivalent of refrigerators in winter & saunas in summer; making them unusable. 50 gallon tub but only 25 gallon hot water heater. Horrible water quality (even though we are literally a block from water treatment plant)causing a constant mold in the toilet regardless of how often you treat it. I could go on & on but am limited by time allowed. Please save yourself nightmare & hassle of dealing with staff & inadequacies-RENT ELSEWHERE!

After reading the many, many horrible reviews for Cityview, I have to put my two cents in. The only nice thing about this place is the location. NKC is a wonderful place: quiet, safe, and very close to downtown. There are two HUGE downsides to this apartment complex: One, the shoddy construction. Summer 2010, they starting performing major demolition and repairs to correct ongoing and pervasive water infiltration issues in the exterior of the building. With the cladding and balconies torn away, just looking at the mildew in the exterior wall and insulation made me shiver. On-going roofing leaks had been an issue since I moved in, so I am not surprised to hear that others are having problems. Two, the management staff is just the worst; extremely unprofessional, flaky, and sometimes straight-up -------. If the girls who run the front desk are not outright lying to you, it's only by accident. I have now seen -------------------------------------- than most dermatologists. BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE all the reviews with crazy stories about the management: the random "indefinite" closures of the pool, the inability to rent the clubhouse, no access to the tech lab, being lied to constantly, and assessed fake or trumped up charges. Also, the apartment-supplied CTC internet service drops at least 5 times a day and is slow as dirt. If you expect to watch netflix movies or play online games, you will have to get your own Time Warner. Final Thoughts: overpriced, good location, terrible management, and don't get excited about the "amenities" because you won't be able to take much advantage of them.

Not so great
I am about to move out of Cityview after living here for two years. The place is overpriced, the trash compactor is always overflowing, and currently there is some horrendous construction going on. All the balconies on the sides are being completely taken out due to poor construction which caused the wood supporting and surrounding the balconies to rot and weaken. The noise is terrible from 8-5 every day and there is no end in sight. Patio doors are nailed shut with pieces of wood so those without balconies don't step off in to nothingness . Bedroom windows are covered with white plastic sheeting. No one cares. The construction crew takes up all the good and nearby parking with machinery and equipment. Management refuses to ask them to move their crap for the residents. There are no decent stores or restuarants down here either. The managers are all idiots.

Don't ever live here!!!
I am currently a resident at Cityview and would never tell anyone to move in here. When my girlfriend, our son and I first moved in we thought we would really like it here. The apartments looked nice and they had great ammenties(we thought). ------- was the one who leased it to us and she is very nice. However, --------------- are the managers and they are completely rude and snooty. Neither one of them care about the happiness of the residents at all. The apartments appear to be very nice but when it comes down to it they are very cheaply put together. Our cabinents are falling apart, tiles are coming up off the floor. It's impossible to keep the place at a nice temperature because the insulation is so poor which leads to $200 electric bills 9 months out of the year. We were excited about the pool but it has been closed for about half of the summer. About three weeks ago we got a note saying that our patios are gonna be closed for a month for some work. Well last Monday I awoke to the sound of a sledge hammer pounding outside my window at 8am. I have a son that is almost two and he woke up terrified. I work from home and the last 2 weeks have been so loud outside I had to go somewhere else to work. They have offered us no discount and when I called to ask for one they said nobody was getting a discount because everyones patio are being done. So yesterday I'm cleaning my apartment and I sat the trash outside my door while I was cleaning (usually I put it on my balcony but I don't have one at the moment)and when I came out to take it down about 45 mins later it was gone. Well today I recieved a not saying that they took my trash down and they are charging me a $25 fee. All I can say is that this is one of the more expensive places I have lived and it is the worst place I have ever lived. They do not care about the residents, just about collecting rent and fee's. I would never reccomend living here to anyone!

I was robbed!
Literally. My apartment has been broken into twice in the last four months, and the management refuses to do anything about it. I continue to have a broken sill plate on my door, and pry marks on the door frame. With a slight push, it comes open even with the door locked. IT HAS BEEN FOUR MONTHS, and it's still not fixed. Hide your children, hide your wife, hide your husband, because they're raping everybody up in here.

Great Place To Live!!!
I have really enjoyed living in CityView. The location is wonderful because you are so close to downtown and have major highway access. North Kansas City is neat in its own right and you have everything (CVS, post office, restaraunts, etc) almost within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and have been just as nice if not better after we signed the lease. They have been super helpful when putting in simple service requests. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!

Don't live here
I lived in this overpriced place for 2 years. When I first moved in everything was great. Nice staff, good maintenance safe place. But after awhile it was not good anymore. The staff became a pain to deal with, they would say they had stuff taken care of but then forget about it, or they would just not be helpful at all. The maintenance staff was horrible! I got charged 3 times, (about $20 total) to have them change the batteries in the fire alarms, and the same alarm had to be changed twice. I had vaulted ceilings and I am short so I couldn't reach it to change the batteries. The first time it started beeping and I called I was left a note the next saying they didn't hear anything. After a sleeples night I called again in the morning and was left another note saying that I should just change the battery myself next time. The second big issue I had was when my second bathroom started to leak from the ceiling. I lived on the 3rd floor so I knew it was coming from the roof and it was in the middle of two weeks of rain. When I called the office they said they would have someone come out and take a look. It took them a total of 5 weeks to get someone out there just to patch the roof! Because they had called the wrong roofing place the first time and it took them a week and a half to figure that out.l All the time it was raining in my bathroom. When I called and asked what they could do in the meantime, their advice was to "put an old towl down or try to find a bucket since it's raining so much". I way overpaid for this place because I thought it was nice. And it does look nice from the outside and they staff is very friendly up front. Once you move in though, it's a totally different story. I know I'm not the only one who had problems because my neighboors also said their bathroom roof leaked and the neighboors below me had similair issues with the staff. Please don't live here.

Save your $$ and go somewhere else!!
This is a nice looking place and used be a good place to live. However due to high rent increases and decreases in amenities people are moving out every weekend. You can't use the club house anymore, if you do go there (during office hours) you must have <2 guests with you. The lawn is nice and green but 10" tall and full of dog poop. I have a dog too but I "bag it". For the price you can go other places and get so much more. In a recession my rent got raised $79 a month! Then they added internet (which is like paint drying slow) and water to my rent bill. After the 1st year you get no free rent, no free anything! Nice to see they care about loyal paying renters. Get a townhome or house instead of paying $1100 for a two bedroom 900 square ft apartment here.....

Don't let them fool you!!
I'd like to also point out some items that potential renters should be aware of. 1) Appliances, fixtures etc: We have a total of nine outlets that do not work in our two bedroom apartment-- all the top outlet in each plug-in. Further, our bathroom lightbulbs burn out at an alarming rate and REQUIRE maintenance to come and replace them for a fee. We've had three rounds of bulbs, and I'm down to a single one working. Dishwasher and washing machine are really bad and barely work. I hand wash dishes to keep from needing to scrape gunk off after they come out of the washer. 2)Carpet: Ripples, ridges, you name it. Can hardly wait to see how much we are charged on move out day for carpet "damages" Looks terrible, and has been that way since the fall. 3)If you are in a ground-floor apartment take note if your upstairs neighbors are smokers and/or drink on their porch. I only say this because we were "notified" that there was trash-- beer cans and cigarette butts-- in our yard.. a direct result of a loud evening from our neighbors.. and that that was our "warning" to not let it happen again. Management should consider the effect gravity has on falling objects before pointing fingers and giving "warnings" to paying residents. 4)Pool use last summer was HORRIBLE! the management randomly closed the pool because of how some residents had been acting. Um, great but what about the rest of us who PAY for that amenity?? Hope they have a better plan for this year. And make sure to know ahead of time if you want to bring a guest to the pool on a Sunday. You'll have to get a pass from the office and... they're closed Sunday! 5) Internet: Connection in our building AT BEST works twice a week. We have made complaints and were greeted with "well no one else seems to be having an issue" Never able to access the internet for more than a few minutes, if at all.

Do Not Live Here!
I'm an older adult and have had my share of apartment living over the past years and this is by far the worst property management I've ever seen. They respond to any complaint or problem by a ridiculous rule that affects everyone instead of dealing with the problem tenants. Here are some examples: 1) they no longer let you rent out the clubhouse for events because of some vandalism problems at some point, so don't let them tell you about this wonderful amenity, you'll only get to use it if the staff is there and they leave at 6pm on weekdays and 4pm on Saturday - this goes for the computers as well that they boast about on their website 2) don't think about enjoying a beer at the pool because no alcohol is allowed and you have to get a pool pass in addition to your security key and guess what they have a "pool monitor" - what is this- 3rd grade? you may only have 1 guest per resident. You'll also have to think ahead if you want to swim with a guest on Sunday because management isn't around to issue your pool pass and the monitor will kick them out.3) If you have a dog, you won't be allowed to let them get some fresh air on the deck or patio because "someone's" dog barked, "someone" complained no now no one is supposed to have their dog on the deck because they might bark. I could go on and on.........we'll thankfully be moving out soon.

Simply the best
For those who really want to know what its like to live at CityView Lofts look no further. The grounds are always maintained with friendly staff, the management is very efficient and always available to help. They are some of the nicest people you'll meet in LA. Its a safe residence and very close to everything you will need. It doesn't matter where you live in LA you have to drive at some point and this location is very accessible to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, downtown etc. Also another perk about the location is the Burbank (Bob Hope) airport is 10 min away which is great for anyone travelling. The apartments are current in decor, its very clean building, and some of the apartments feel like your own personal resort. I would highly recommend you take a tour of the place.

Management is the downside
I horribly regret living here for a year due to the complications of trying to end my lease. The two managers were decidedly unprofessional, eluding to a non-existent liquidated damages clause in the lease when I moved in and generally being rude once I decided to move out. My friends had Christmas decorating duties pawned off on them. And the latest kicker is charging me for keys that I turned in and an oven I cleaned (I have photos). I evidenced this by sending them priority mail with a signature confirmation, a dated letter evidencing their inclusion, and a rent check, which they cashed. This doesn't include the normal, "roof leaked and ran down the wall" stuff which also occurred. The dishonesty bothers me much more than maintenance. The maintenance

All in all a good choice
I have been living here almost 6 months and my roommate for almost a year. We haven't had any problems that required involving the maintenance or management. The ups are that the apartments are nice and fairly noise proof. The rent is very reasonable and the fitness area/rec area are very nice. The apartments are still very new and so nothing is broken and they are very modern and "pretty". The downs are that if you want covered parking you will be waiting for a long time to get it. The trash is only emptied once a week and tends to get too full so people load the trash on the ground next to the trash bin (minor issue unless you live next to the trash bin). Also, the wireless doesn't work very well at night when everyone is home, but if you work off hours or don't need a lot of bandwith you will be fine.
