Absolute Best
My wife and I moved from Georgia. We looked at several complexes in and around the state. When I found The Crossings I knew it was the place. Our initial tour was outstanding. The leasing agent was thorough in her presentation. We looked at all the options from a small 2BR to a 3BR townhome. We decided on the 2BR apartment because of the offers and that it was on the first floor of the brand new building. Our application process was lengthy but the leasing agent was patient and informative every step of the way. We moved in May 31 and have not been disappointed at all. The grounds are well kept, low noise, many wonderful features such as a large pool, game room, theatre room, onsite chef periodically, food trucks that come on site, a business center with a conference room for private meetings, and so much more. We are across the street from public transportation. We are completely satisfied. I would recommend this community to everyone.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND: PRETTY BUT DECEIVING!
The neighborhood is nice, quiet, not a lot of traffic. I was here through the winter and the roads within the complex could have been cleaned better and I do not feel like any salt was thrown down to help with melting the ice during the snowy days. The outside looks nice and can be deceiving on the cheaply made interior of these apartments. These units like most of these apartments appear nice but are basic. The paint on the walls do not have a top coat so the slightest thing will leave a mark, trying to clean them is useless b/c of the cheap paint it only causes you to rub off the paint and leave dull stains on the walls. I do not allow shoes on my carpet so the only thing that would be an issue is food stains or other household items and recreational from the kids activities. When I moved in I sprayed Scotchgard rug and carpet cleaner and I also keep Scotchgard Fabric/carpet cleaner so this is to let you know I took precautions and still the stains were not always coming up, the basic cheap carpet locks in stains and these are the main ways they will refuse to return your security deposit. Moving in you are responsible for the Rent, Renter's Ins, Water, PSE&G but I was not told about a water bill until after I moved in leaving me with months of back bills I was responsible for and they tried to tell me I was responsible for a late fee, but I was never given an account number or email invitation to set up a water bill account. The appliances are not new so expect them to break down and need repair and multiple replacements, the water does not stay hot for long nor does it get very hot. You have these large master tubs but can not enjoy them if your water does not stay hot. The shower heads have no real pressure. The windows are not sealed properly so cold air comes in and heat escapes which increase your electric bill during the winter. The closet doors are constantly coming off the track. The toilets/plumbing system is weak so even using 1 ply tissue and I am the only adult in my home with two children I am constantly having to use the plunger. My kitchen microwave is cracking and I can honestly say we rarely use it and I am one who is very clean and I do have a maid service that cleans my home once a month to do deep cleans. The dishwasher has no real pressure so you have to wash your dishes before putting them in. When I moves in I had an ant takeover in my second bedroom and even occasionally I have an ant problem throughout the unit by the windows and I I don't have confidence enough that the property will take care of it so I spend my own money to buy ant baits and spray and I spray each window and leave ant bait boxes out on the patio. I have not had a bad experience with the maintenance team but it can take over a week some times for them to respond to my service tickets and I do not want to put that completely on them but also not sure how many maintenance men on the property to respond to calls. You pay a lot of money to move in and even the basic wear and tear will cause them to find any reason to keep your security deposit and my fault for not slowing down to read my lease but was focused on securing a home for my family, I did not realized I signed an 18 month lease, but for sure I plan to not be here for month 19.

Pros out weigh the Cons
I am a newer resident and was searching for an apartment for over 5 months, the first time I pulled up to this property I loved the curb appeal. I was greeted by the front receptionist and next the assistant community manager Sangeeta Bedi who was amazing with showing me the property, letting me know what amenities there were. I was taken to a couple units, I told her what I was looking for, my needs and concerns and she showed me the unit that I call my home now. I appreciate her for being human and not just only wearing her sales hat. I have lived in both apartments and private homes and no matter where you are there is always going to be pros and cons but in this situation the pros out weighed the cons. I applied and got approved within a week and was constant communication with the staff to prepare myself for move in to make it as smooth as possible. My unit was ready at move in, not perfect but no major issues. I presented my concerns to the maintenance team and all my issues were addressed within the week. I am pleased with the quick response and the efficiency. I have had no major issues as of yet but am confident with the professionalism of the staff that any concerns I present them will be handled accordingly. We hold our leasing team to high standards but in return we need to also hold ourself to a standard as resident, I believe strongly in give respect to receive respect. Living here so far has been amazing, I am also very self sufficient so I only use my maintenance for major issues and that limits the constant need for someone unnecessarily to enter my home. There are a lot of units in this complex so we need to give grace for maintenance issues that are not an emergency and allow the staff to properly equip themselves to address our concerns. I love this property and would recommend it to anybody.

Do not believe the 5 stars
Your problems won’t start till you are moving out. Before we move in, we reported wear and tears in the apartment buildings, nothing has been done to fix it. Upon moving out, they charged us 1k for full repaint for something that was already damaged before we moved in. When trying to speak with the front office, their response is always “We will call you back”, but never do. As a black man renting the space, my first encounter with the front office stuff was terrible. They kept questioning our proof of payment and kept giving us attitude till we pressed the issue. Don’t waste your money on a place such as this, there are so many better housing options in the area

They will use your security deposit
The staff is horrendous- My partner took two days off of work for a pre move-out inspection -They did not show either time and did not call to cancel either. They have no regard for people - I took pride in my apartment-I was completely shocked to see they charged me for a full paint job even though I left the walls In beautiful condition! When we moved in, the bathtub, toilets, carpets, stove were all gross, the shower and tub had soap scum -the washer was filled with black mold scum and I cleaned grubby black mold off the faucet spouts (gross) and I spent a lot of time sanitizing and cleaning. I guess I just didn’t want to complain and I truly regret it!! Don’t give up on your security deposit!! Do whatever you can to fight this scam!!

Requested Maintenance
So nice to call in a maintenance request and to come home from work to see it’s been done. Maintenance texted me updates and sent a pic of the finished job while I was at work. Thank you so much Maintenance Team!

Disorganized, Unresponsive Management
I DO NOT recommend living here. I have lived in multiple apartment complexes and have never had as many issues with management as I did while living at this complex for 1.5 years. Now they are keeping my ENTIRE security deposit to pay for cleaning, painting, and carpet shampooing. All charges for services that I DO NOT agree with because my apartment was in very good condition with minimal wear and tear. Management is unable to provide me with any justification. When the inspector came for my pre-move out inspection, he arrived with the pre-move out inspection form already completed with cost estimates without even seeing my apartment. This shows that management intends to charge for cleaning, carpet shampooing, and painting NO MATTER the condition. Prior to moving out I expressed my concern about the pre-move out inspection and the negative reviews about this exact situation and was told that if I return the apartment to the same condition that I received it in, I shouldn’t worry about it. Clearly what I was told was not true. I had requested to be present during the move out inspection and was not given the opportunity. Management was not responsive and made it impossible for me to be present for the inspection. Do not expect to get your security deposit back if you live here. My apartment was nice and proximity to the train station is convenient but management is subpar. They are not responsive to email, you must go to the leasing office in person. When I inquired about my lease renewal I was quoted one price for rent and then when I was finally able to sign my lease renewal (took forever) I was told the price I was originally quoted was not correct and they would be charging me an additional $300 per month. I was told the leasing agent was no longer with the company so the renewal price I had in writing was not valid. There are hidden fees in the online portals that you are forced to use. The portal used to pay rent is confusing (probably on purpose), the monthly charges and fees are not clearly stated making it difficult to ensure you are being charged the correct amount each month. I had an issue with management claiming I owed them money per the balance on my portal but I was ensuring I was paying the dollar value per my lease and not the balance on the portal since it was incorrect. Package delivery is unorganized, sometimes delivered to the clubhouse and other times to your apartment building with no consistency. I had issues with the concierge losing my packages. I would get a notification from FedEx/UPS that my package was delivered to the clubhouse and was received by the concierge and include his/her name. I would be told they do not have my package and that they have an issue with delivery drivers saying packages were delivered when packages were still on the truck. This is a problem for many residents. One of the doors to the apartment building does not lock. I notified management when I moved in and followed up multiple times but 1.5 years later the door still did not lock. This is a security issue and management does not care. Maintenance requests are not followed up on promptly. If you don’t answer your phone when they call, the request gets closed. I also caught a member of the maintenance staff entering my apartment without notifying me prior to entering. I did not have any pending maintenance requests, no reason for anyone from maintenance to enter my apartment. I happened to be working from home that day and suddenly heard someone entering my apartment. Management apologized and told me there was a miscommunication about the apartment number. This incident was unacceptable and made me feel unsafe living in this apartment complex. It is not cheap to live at this apartment complex and it is completely unacceptable for tenants to be treated this way. Do not live here, there are plenty of other options in the area.

The worst management ever
This property hands down worst ever only cares about collecting rent and has no professionalism towards the residents. The office contacts you about lease resigning a month before and then when you do send it back they forget about it and just start charging you month to month. I can take some responsibility because I wasn’t right on top of them but dealing with other management offices that go above and beyond to make sure a lease is resigned. Then there service team has no respect for how and when they come to service an item and the demeanor is like rude and uncomfortable. Their gardeners start cutting the grass at 8 am on weekdays thinking no one has babies or toddlers that are asleep. They have a whole side where they can start that early and it’s not close to the buildings but for their convenience or they like waking people up they choose to start mowing right next to the buildings. It’s these things that they should be worried about to make sure the residents are their first priority but not here. It almost feels like they resent the residents and go out of their way to torture them. This property is run by Edgewood properties and from what I’ve seen they don’t care about their employees who then take that out in residents. Never rent with Edgewood they charge high rates for supposedly luxury apartments but thr buildings are poorly built and every couple months their fire alarm goes off for no reason waking up the entire building at night or morning weekends rushed out of bed only to see the fire truck take their time because it’s a false alarm triggered by dust. Just beware thr leasing office is nice till you sign then they act like they nevertheless met you which is usual for sales people but not for a management office.

Looking forward to moving here
We applied to live here this past weekend after an incredible experience with leasing consultant Julie. We were between the crossings, woodmont way or Avalonbay and it was a no brainer to lease here. Julie has so much patience and has such a comfort to her that it immediately felt like home. She sat with us to do the application and answered every question we had. As someone who has lived in a house for over 30 years, it’s scary to go from owning to renting, but this was a wonderful experience. Thank you and we look forward to moving in soon!

I am not happy to write but I just moved in and carpet is dirty and spots, bathroom sink is clogged, needed paint in master bathroom, oven has scratches , microwave door is loose, dishwasher is damage, microwave light not working, bedroom closet door is falling, master bedroom bathtub filling is missing, did not received mailbox key, dryer wind pipe throwing air in apartment. Kitchen has low voltage light, balcony has no bulb. I am very disappointed. I did request to get all fixed but no response.

We left the apartment and got ridiculous charge and when tried to settle the amount after year we got letter from court. Charging us for oven, microwave, carpet and cleaning. Don’t get apartment here unless you keep it sparkly clean otherwise will be charge fee for everything. We are charged like 4K.

Apartments are pretty nice, but BEWARE when you move out. You will be charge for painting, cleaning, toilet seats replacement, and will be intimidated by being turned to collection. There is no reasoning with the management, mostly they don't return calls and are rude when you asking for your hard earn money. never in my life, have I encountered such greed, even worse during the Covid timeline when all the companies help each other. Club yearly charge for closed amenities is just the last straw. Martene is wonderful.

Believe the reviews you see elsewhere - the onboarding experience, amenities and location are excellent. The move-out process and leasing management team however are atrocious. They overcharge you on the security deposit upon move-out (literally charging for painting the whole unit, carpet shampoo, various scratches that were listed on the form there in advance and cleaning which is all ordinary wear & tear). Trying to get any response from management is hopeless as they are unreachable over phone/email and when you meet them in-person they play so incredibly dumb its astounding. Bottom line: the management team is so absolutely conniving it ruins the experience.

Even though the apartments and grounds are clean you do not want to live there. These people will do anything to keep your security deposit. I rented this apartment for work when in NJ and that was about 2 or 3 days a week per month totaling about 6 months for the 2 years. I had the apartment from 1/2019 to 1/2021 and did only stayed there about 6 days in 2021. The apartment was so clean when I moved out that the Girl that did my moved out inspection was in awe. when it was time to get my deposit back they came up with all these charges totaling over $1000. When I challenged them they tried to tell me the apartment was dirty and thing were broken . All lies I have picture and when I told them I do they claim they had to clean carpet and paint. Please take my advise PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They are very dishonest and its all about the money. I have also filed a law suit against them for my deposit.

I love my new place. It's clean, new and quiet. The Crossings have lots of amenities ( gum, pool, movie room, billiards), and a great coffee machine in the Clubhouse ( cappuccino is so good). The grounds are kept neatly and the snow this winter was shoveled immediately. Secure entrances to the buildings.

TLDR: Do not lease here or with any Edgewater Property if you are not willing to forfeit your security deposit and pay hundreds of dollars beyond that for standard cost of doing business maintenance. And be warned that they will try to sneak extra charges on your bill....... Here's my full review: I lived here for 3 years. Lovely concierge staff, but high turnover. The property was well maintained and we never had a safety issue. If you are not physically present the day your lease starts, they do the "move in inspection" for you. Don't let this happen. Move out is where the problems started. Soon after giving our notice, our AC broke and it was never fixed while we were there. They charged us for normal wear and tear type things. The staff member who conducted the inspection told us that the corporate office requires them to list these charges no matter what, even if a tenant is only there 6 months. We anticipated these charges, however, we did not expect what happened next. After our move out inspection where we signed paperwork agreeing to the damages/charges, the next day the staff went into the apartment to record video evidence of additional damages that weren't there during the inspection. They sent us a bill much larger than what we had agreed upon, and refused to share said evidence. My husband and I agreed it was easier and cheaper to pay these unfounded fees rather hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit, which is what they had suggested to us when we raised questions. There was one charge we couldn't let go: they were charging us double rent us the days we left the apartment vacant. We had to pay rent until the apartment was re-leased since we broke the lease early, but the bill had the rent fee twice (which is illegal). Perhaps this was a clerical error but they would not remove the fee from the bill, and sent our file to their lawyer. The lawyer promptly put our bill into collections instead of reviewing the problem. Once we pointed out to them that the fees were illegal, they removed the charges. 3+ months after move out and $1200 later, we have finally settled the bill and we are free from The Crossings.

I have just moved into the complex and I have been so please with the move-in process! Zalima was the woman who helped me from showing me the model apartment, to handing me over my keys and everything in between. She has been very helpful and responsive to all of my questions and needs. Every other staff member I have interacted with have also been incredibly kind and helpful as well. I highly recommend moving here!

My experience with The Crossings was marked with experiences of varying satisfaction. As noted below, I was initially satisfied with the development, but concerned about the move-out procedure. I was a resident for over 3 years, and would not recommend tenancy at The Crossings for the high rent and additional practice of improper charges. The units are nice, have satisfactory appliances, but are unimpressive in value as to other comparable units. The halls are generally kept clean. The community is average. Parking for the 400 building is limited, and I would not expect to find a parking spot after 7:00 PM in front of the building. The train station is a convenient walk. The 24/7 gym was a great amenity and also generally kept clean. The garbage facilities are unsanitary. The trash compactor would regularly break and residents would leave trash and recyclables on the ground. Staff would clean the area regularly. The clubhouse and pool were in good condition. While the clubhouse has security cameras, no other building seems to have any security. I reported one incident of concerning a questionable clubhouse user, which was resolved promptly on notification. The staff was receptive to concerns and maintenance. During the pandemic, staff indicated that they were cleaning high touch areas multiple times a day. When amenities were closed for COVID, I inquired if there would be any reimbursement for the $400 amenity fee or a reduction for a lease renewal, and the answer was no. The rent is fair for this area with regard to the apartment and amenities, but there are nicer apartments at around the same price point. Six months after I moved in, thus after my last review, a water pipe burst in the ceiling, damaging numerous personal items and drenching the entire carpeted apartment. While The Crossings did ultimately transfer our lease to a dry unit, The Crossings required that all claims for personal property and displacement be placed through renters' insurance. The Crossings did not provide any financial relief from the incident, even after they promised to reimburse a hotel stay the night when the incident occurred. During my residency. I've noticed other former residents who reviewed The Crossings advised that they were charged for various charges at the end of their lease term. I had the same experience. Initially at the pre-move out inspection, I was assessed $150 to shampoo the carpets, $100 to clean the unit, $212 to paint the unit, $40 to replace each toilet seat, and $ to replace each lightbulb. The maintenance staff who did the inspection, conversely, said the unit was in good condition. I wrote a letter to the Community Manager disputing all the charges except for the lightbulbs, as nothing was beyond normal wear and tear condition. The Crossings' attorney called me and told me and in writing that I would only be assessed for charges above normal wear and tear upon move out. I moved out a week early and thoroughly cleaned the unit, shampooing the rugs with a Green Machine vacuum. I replaced the lightbulbs that were out, and in good faith, replaced the toilet seats. At the final move out inspection, the maintenance coordinator advised that because I resided at The Crossings for over three years, the painting charge would be waived, but continued to assess the $150 carpet shampoo and the $100 cleaning charges. I again wrote a letter to the community manager and the attorney, but only received an acknowledgement of my letter but no substantive response after multiple followup requests. The charges are unbecoming of the condition of the apartment, remain improper, violate The Crossings' own lease, and are frankly inappropriate during a pandemic and fiscal crisis. Based on the improper charges assessed at the end of the lease term, I would not recommend prospective tenants to lease with The Crossings unless you are comfortable paying a premium on your way out. The Crossings' practice of charging its residents beyond normal wear and tear is unjust and new tenants should be aware of such conduct.

Bunch of crooks - will charge you big bucks for toilet seats and new carpeting when you leave! This apartment complex is owned by Edgewood Properties - when you move out they will threaten to sue you if you don't pay for them to replace the carpeting, toilet seats and repainting. They also add a $500/month fee if you don't renew the lease and go month-to-month. The trash bins are always overflowing and there is dog poop all over the lawns. Glad we moved out. Recently, we tried to negotiate with Edgewood Properties but now this is going to court - they must want to waste lots of time and money as their "fake" lawyers have nothing better to do but harass the former tenants of Crossings at Hamilton Station Apartments. We refuse to pay for new toilet seats and we will request a trial - their shady practices need to STOP!!!

The apartments are not luxury. The kitchen refrigerator was an OLD MODEL top/bottom door and not side by side, and it leaked from the freezer. The maintenance of the 'Trash Bins' at the Crossings is horrible and are not emptied often enough. Often there is trash overflowing on the ground which is extremely unsanitary. When we vacated the apartment we complained about their OVERCHARGING for a replacement toilet seats at $40.+ each. The 'Crossings' also screws you by expecting you to replace carpets and repainting the apartment. This should be their responsibility after any 'Tenant' vacates. They pad as many charges as possible when you vacate. We had to fight the charges or they would have gotten away will wacking us for thousands of dollars. RENTER BEWARE!!! Do not respond with any false claims of apology...they are not sincere....when we asked for adjustments, we received insults. We would NEVER recommend 'The Crossings at Hamilton Station' based on the treatment we received!

Although I decided not to rent (need more space for our Grand piano, I thought the layout of the townhouse was excellent as was the location. The price was fair and the location near the train to New York was outstanding. In addition, the leasing agent (Donna) was outstanding. Very open and honest. Give us the facts in a friendly but professional manner. I actually hatedcallpng her this week to say that we could not rent due to size limitations. Donna would be one of the main reasons I would have leased if possible. If you plan on visiting the Crossings, please ask for Donna. You will be treated like you are the most important person in the room and will know what the Crossinga is all about.- Good luck and this is a very nice place to live.

I've been living here at The Crossings for almost 2 years now. My wife and I first moved into a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom with a den, and it was our first apartment together. I used the den as my office since I work from home most mornings, and we were able to use the second bedroom as a guest room for visiting family. In May, my wife and I found out that we are having a baby, so we looked into the townhome options here. We've been living in a townhome for almost 2 months now, and we couldn't be happier. We are also very happy with the community itself. Being so close to the train station (I can walk there -- it takes 5 minutes) is so convenient because I work in NYC at least two days a week. We're also so close to a lot of shopping -- everywhere we shop is within 1 to 2 minutes of each other. The clubhouse has a 24-hour fitness center and business center. They also offer a game room, movie room, and pool. They even opened up a playground which our daughter will be able to use come summertime. I always see emails regarding community events and information keeping us up-to-date about the community. Last but not least, the staff is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They always have a smile on their face and a positive attitude. My family and I plan to stay here for a long time.

This is supposed to be a luxury apartment community with high amenity fees. But see photos of what you expect to see and smell in the hallways of your building :(. Amenity fees should g towards the upkeep of the property. But alas, staff turnover is high and most of the time they are understaffed. So you will pay $400 annually but will not get the service expected.
