My husband and I moved here from Philadelphia last December.I did the majority of my work via telephone, fax and mail. The two ladies that were in the office was great,I told them when I was visiting SC and they set up appointments for me to see the complex and the apartments I had seen on the website. After we moved in everybody made us feel welcomed. If I had a problem where I had to call maintenance, they told me within 24-48 hours but most of the time it was the same day.The property is pet friendly and clean. I'd recommend here to anybody.

tl;dr - 3.5 - 4 stars, I like it, the staff is GREAT, good fit for dog owners, older buildings with wet grounds :( Current Resident here. I like living at Claypond Commons, the staff is absolutely fantastic, they handle resident support well and they LOVE DOGS! If you're a dog owner this is a great place to rent based on price and location. Positives - Location, Price, Easy access to Myrtle Beach Mall and Tanger Outlets, Centralized location along the Grand Strand, Pool, Laundry Room, Free Doggy Bags Negatives - the buildings aren't brand new, so sometimes there are issues with moisture depending on your location in the apartments. The grounds are typically muddy after raining (they don't drain well). Some residents don't pick up after their dogs, but there are active campaigns to combat this. Also, reports of fleas in the grass during certain times of the year, but its treated by management from time to time.

Check out the apartments before you sign the lease. Great and sneaky sales pitch. Before you know it, your moving into an apartment that looks like a glory hole and bar. Love smelling maryjuana as you walk through to get to your door.

I currently moved to claypond commons from Ohio and I must say I love it! Everyone is extremely friendly! I feel the community is very safe which is a big deal because I do have a baby. It is also very clean and kept up. During my apartment search I had constant communication with Catherine schnaars and she was so helpful! She welcomed us with open arms and went out of her way to send me pictures and she was always prompt at calling or emailing me. She made the moving process that much easier and well I must say she is just awesome! She is one aspect of why I moved to claypond commons, because of how friendly and helpful she is. If anyone asks me who to speak to when looking for an apartment I would definitely refer her and this community!

I recently moved from Claypond Commons. When I moved there I was not shown the apartment that I was moving into, instead I was shown a the model apartment. From what other people that I know that lived there and from the reviews I see, they do this to everyone. I do not think the apartment was worth what I was paying in rent each month. If you have a large family or you like to cook do not move here. They have stoves in every apartment (including the one I was living in) that reminded me of an easy bake oven. The stove was very small. It was so small that you cant even cook your food on a high temperature. If you did it would cause the fire alarm to go off and instantly fill the room with smoke. I think the location is great because it is located near the mall and alot of shopping areas but if I had a family I would not live in this apartment complex. People often walk their dogs and leave there dogs feces on the ground without picking them up. The stairs are horrible, and if you wear heels alot like I did, you may fall. The rent has went up twice since I was living here. The staff were pretty friendly. I did not have a bad experience but if I had to do it all over again I probably would not have moved there.

This place is a joke!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!! They advertise that it's the best on the beach.. I would rather live on the beach in a tent then live here! There is major mold issues and they don't give a ---- about it. The health department needs to be called on this place and the staff is terrible! STAY AWAY!!!!!

Claypond Commons is by far the worst place that I have ever lived!! I don't even know where to start! I could write a book on how bad this place is! They don't give you a tour of the actual apartment that you're moving into, they give you a tour of a model apartment that of course looks perfect. I guess that should have been the first sign. As soon as we walked into to our apartment the kitchen cupboard looked like someone had punched it because the door had a huge crack in it and there were damages in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room carpet had stains on it and my bedroom door didn't even have a knob on it! They have you write all of this down when you first move because they're supposedly going to fix it and so that you are charged for the damages when you move out. Well, they only fixed the door knob and we didn't get our $650 deposit back because they blamed the damages on us! Probably should have filed a lawsuit. One of the first things that became obvious was that management either had favorites or didn't care to enforce their guidelines in the lease agreements. I say this because pets had to be a certain age and size according to the lease but, there were several people with puppies just in our building and one of our neighbors had two big bulldogs which were both way over the weight limit. This same neighbor is the guy that had one of my roommates come over to watch his daughter while his wife was gone and he told her that he hadn't had sex in 6 months and that she should be a stripper. Needless to say, she was never comfortable at the apartment by herself after this and moved out a couple months later. Our next door neighbors played loud music late at night on the weekends and during the week! They always had people coming over all hours of the night. At one point I came home from work and they were out in the breezeway and parking lot swearing at the top of their lungs because one of them had thrown the others keys on top of the garage. This was the one and only time management intervened! To go along with that, from time to time, our wash room smelled like marijuana and so happened to be on the same neighbors side of the apartment. They also left their garbage sitting outside there door and the liquids would leak out and go all over the hallway. That was reported to management but, nothing was ever done about it. I never felt safe there because there were three separate occasions where shootings took place at the closest apartment to us over at the Fountain Pointe apartments! When it came to having something fixed in the apartment you might as well forget about it because it took forever to get fixed. Our AC unit never worked correctly the whole time we were there. Maintenance supposedly repaired it twice but, it still never worked properly. My roommate's toilet broke on his birthday weekend and management told us to wait or fix it ourselves because the maintenance department doesn't work on the weekend. If you're going to have a complex that big with that many tenants, you should have a maintenance department that is on-call 24/7. When they built these apartments they obviously didn't put much thought into it because the stairways are so narrow that you barely have enough room to pack groceries up in both hands. I feel for anyone with a lot of furniture living on the third floor because it would be virtually be impossible to pack a bed, couch, desk, or dresser up the stairs. All of the furniture we bought came in pieces and we assembled it once we got it into the apartment. They had pest control spray your apartment routinely but, they must have never sprayed outside because you could never go down the stairs without there being spiders or some type of bug on the walls or hanging down from the ceiling. There was the same issue with the small decks they have attached to the master bedrooms. You couldn't sit on the deck because you either had to contend with wasps or yellow jackets during the day and spiders at night. Also, the railing on the deck was loose to the point that it didn't feel safe to lean on it. Our 2nd floor neighbors that we became good friends were allowed to break their lease after finding better accommodations with no questions asked. We tried doing the same thing because my roommate and I had planned to transfer to a different college which is a very legitimate reason but, when we gave our reason for breaking the lease we were told that we would have to pay the remaining amount of our rent or we couldn't do it so needless to say we stayed because we didn't have the money. I know I have probably forgotten several things but, one thing is for sure, I will never stay at Claypond Commons again and will never recommend anyone to live there. It wouldn't surprise me if half the good reviews on here are written by members of management there. As soon as our lease ended, we moved to River Landing Apartments and it is like a completely different world. The apartments are VERY nice and the rent is lower! All the neighbors are quiet and courteous. You almost never have any maintenance issues but, if you do they get fixed immediately. For anyone living at Claypond, it would be time well spent looking into moving to River Landing!

This place is disgusting and not safe. They take months at a time to fix your issues if your not on their case about it. It should take 1 time to complain about a problem to have it fixed. This place is also infested with pests (roaches) and they are not small. They try to make an excuse of calling them a palmento but, but by definition, still a roach. People get attacked here, theft happens here, assault, felons. They make this place look nicer than what it actually is. I'm breaking my lease.

This place is a dump. Mold and mildew in every room. Roaches every where. Dog mess every where, can't even walk out your front door without seeing it everywhere. Maintenance is a joke they say they will order something then you never see it hear from them again. Property manager has a nasty personality tells you what you want to hear then the hell with you. They will not send pest control people out when they ate defiantly needed and they tell you it's included in rent. I moved in with room full of roaches and fleas. Place smelled like wet rotten wood then found out that's what most of it was. They had to rebuild entire first floor exterior wall cause of water damage it's a wonder the building was standing when I went to look at what they were doing. For a 11 or 12 year old building the place is a dump. When it rains its a water hole everywhere. Don't waste your time and money new people took over bout a year ago and they are a joke too. Raising rent on everyone and no improvements to place.

We have lived here going on 4 years now and have seen them come and go up in the office. I can tell you that we have a manager, Terry, that actually cares now. The maintenance staff has gotten better and seem to have an idea of what they're doing! They do their best to get to your issues right away lately and if not they at least let you know when and why. It has gotten better in regards to the riff raff that has been in here, and now gone. Feel a bit safer with less traffic in and out. Overall as a team, this one is working hard and successfully for the betterment of our community. Keep up the good work!

My family and I have been tenants with Claypond Commons for 14 months. I generally don't write reviews, but this apartment complex and staff warrants my thumbs up of excellency, I would recommend them to anyone. Staff, apartment amenities, maintenance just to name a few are what makes for a great apartment rental experience. I'm looking forward to the Rec Centers completion in the near future!!!

I have been here about a year now and I have enjoyed living here. It is convenient transportation to the beach, the mall, the airport but is far enough distance to feel safe from the hectic activity of living on the boulevard. I plan on living here for a while, and hope the new management company continues to improve the complex. The maintenance staff is helpful, but it sometimes takes a few requests to get something fixed. The office staff is friendly and very helpful. I would recommend anyone looking for an apartment to come check out Claypond.

Im very aggravated to find out that they have either moved the fitness center to build a bigger leasing office, or are just no longer offering a fitness center, I tried going to the gym tonight but to my surprise it is no longer in the same spot, if they did move it they should send out a letter explaining what they are doing and where the new location will be. I am currently a resident and I am not impressed at all with the apartment complex. There is pollen in the hallways outside of my apartment as well as this disgusting brown goop dripping from the wall outside. this apartment complex is absolutely not worth the money they charge me every month. the carpets are disgusting, the windows and patio door are disgusting and moldy, and just recently two rings from apartment were missing after the exterminator had been in my apartment. When I come home late from work the hallway lights are always out so i have to walk upstairs in the dark. No matter how hard I scrub my apartment and clean it, I will never feel like I'm living in a clean apartment, this place is absolutely disgusting, and I'm moving out as soon as my lease is up.

I am a long term resident for nearly 3 years and the location is great and very convenient. I have two small children that have made so many friends since living here. They have recently installed a new playground which they coudn't be happier about! I am very impressed with all the renovations and things that are being added to the property. I don't have any plans on leaving anytime soon!
