Home Sweet Home

When moving here on the island 3 years ago, I looked at every apartment and chose Campeche Cove apartments as my home. The staff, manager, and maintenance team are very friendly and do whatever it takes to get your needs taken care of. I enjoyed this place because of the scenery, the weight room, the pool, and the other many perks it provides. I would highly recommend Campeche Cove to anyone moving to the island.

    I was excited to move into Campeche Cove apartments as you may know they have changed their name from Newport to Campeche Cove. Absolutely was crazy about the staff when first moved in they treated me wonderful there were some problems with my apartment but they were ironed out. They have flipped the staff even the maintenance men that were great are gone. The now attitude of the office it's not as good to say the least they are attempting to change this environment to something it is not as this is not Houston! There are some 20 year olds where I live and some of them are very disrespectful to say the least and they have helicopter mothers who cause issues and do not mind their own business. People do not pick up their dog poop. Campechi Cove is a very nice area and for mature people as this is not a ------ area please understand that the previous manager and assistant manager had some class and were super nice but in my opinion the feeling of homie home is gone. Honestly for an accurate posting the walls are thin and so are the ceilings when they took all the carpet out as the padding that left it open for noise to travel and you can hear your neighbors do almost everything. It takes being a very considerate as tolerant person to live in these apartments and get along.

      Early 2016 Campeche Cove in Galveston Texas was a decent apartment complex, but there were many problems that occurred and the company that owned it did not take care of it. In mid-2016, the Company Tarantino took over Campeche Cove and started fixing all the damages and reputation it had. Ever since Tarantino has taken over whenever I have a problem it gets fixed the same day. This Company has really taken this place from a 1 out of 5 to a 4.5 out of 5, and they keep rising as they are making a bigger a better workout room in the complex. Out of all the complexes I’ve stayed at, I really thank Campeche Cove for the hard work and dedication, thanks.

        I have been living here since December 2015 and I have had multiple issues with Campeche Cove Apartments. I moved in on December 11th, 2015, signing a 12 month lease. Since that time, my rent has changed in price. I've had a pest problem (roaches) from day one that I have addressed numerous times. (On top of paying the complex for pest control every month). Phone calls go unanswered and not returned. I've come home to lights in my apartment being on that I turned off, and doors open that I have shut and no note that anyone was or would be entering my apartment, as well as the door being left unlocked from whoever entered my apartment. I've dealt with a leaking water heater that flooded my closet and master bathroom. My shower tile was painted over, and after every shower I have to pick paint chips out of my drain. And numerous other details that shouldn't be issues for the over priced "upgraded" unit I pay for. My most current issue being the rent issue. When I moved in, I agreed to $1195 a month. My lease was signed online by one of us and I paper copy was signed by the other resident. I paid $1195/mo online for the first few months I lived there. Then it was randomly changed to $1235/mo. When I questioned it, I was told that I had signed my lease at that price so they changed it to match what I agreed to. I have emails from the beginning process that say $1195. As well as my rental reservation saying $1195. Then the property was sold to a new company who turned off the online portal. I was no longer receiving statements every month listing my rent and water. When the new company took over we were told that we would just need to pay an "average" of what we normally paid. Not knowing If I was paying too much or not enough I paid $1280 a month for the next several months by money order. Since the online portal was turned off I could no longer access my lease. I then asked the office for a copy. The copy I was given does say $1235/mo but does not show any signatures and also does not list my $1195 deposit I paid. When I questioned why my deposit amount isn't listed, I can't get an answer from anyone. For all I know they document has been falsified since my rental amount suddenly was changed as well. And I'm also worried I won't be reimbursed my deposit amount. Ultimately it has been a horrible experience with Campeche cove, and now to the point where I tried giving 60 day notice on October 1st and I was told I can't leave until December 11th and if I move out I'm still responsible for those 11 days, even with proper notice and an inaccurate copy of my lease. I understand my lease isn't up until 12/11, however with all the issues I have had, they are fully cabable of changing my lease end date to some what smooth it all over. But instead they want to be ugly to me on the phone and not return any phone calls or emails. I spoke with the manager Nancy initially about the rent issue and she told me she would call me back. It's been over two weeks and I have yet to receive a call. I've left a message and sent an email. Something just doesn't seem right. My most recent issues are that the light outside my door isn't working and it's dark when I come home at night time. I've addressed the issue via voicemail and received an email saying it had been fixed and it has not. Also Comcast entered my apartment when I was not home and moved my entertainment center and scratched my floor. I addressed that also via voicemail and email and no one has contacted me. Ultimately this has been a very unprofessional experience. And I have already reported them to the Galveston apartment Association. Don't waste your time with this place!

          My husband and I have lived in Campeche cove for about 3 years now and we absolutely love it! I have to mention the staff because they are very professional and courteous...Lisa, the property manager, always is very friendly and willing to answer any questions we may have...The leasing agents :Casey and Morgan, are amazing. (They know us by name and are always willing to solve any problem we may have.) I would recommend this property to anyone looking to relocate to Galveston!

            I am glad to have found this apartment complex when I relocated to the Island. I had a lake view in my previous apartment and am very happy to have the same view at Campeche Cove. Although the ocean is only a short walk, it's still relaxing to have a water view from my living room. The staff here are friendly and were very welcoming to me as I relocated from the midwest. My apartment had all new appliances (brushed stainless look), a hardwood floor and a washer/dryer when I moved in which made the space look "brand new". The bathroom is quite large, plenty of space for storage and the longest counter top I've ever seen. The only real issue I have is with the local garbage collection company. The driver appears to have little or no respect for the Island as he makes no effort to actually put the dumpster back in the space. I'll chalk this up to a training issue, but considering the apartment complex is the CUSTOMER, it seems like he could be trying a bit harder at the job. I have asked the staff, and it seems like this particular driver has a real issue doing his job. **Update** I have moved out after a 1-year lease. New mgmt took over in June, and the first day they had control my A/C unit failed. Unfortunately for new mgmt, the unit failed completely and required a complete replacement. Unfortunately for us, it took a solid week for the parts to arrive and be installed. In the past year, mgmt implemented new policies that were quite unfriendly to the residents. A particularly egregious policy was towing of residents vehicles incorrectly parked. I can understand mgmt trying to alleviate the parking issue, but towing a resident vehicle to Houston for over $300 is very punitive. I feel "lucky" to have never been towed. One of the neighboring units in my building was vacated, and the resulting renovation created a HUGE roach infestation issue in the rest of the building. The dumpster situation is still unresolved. The structures around the dumpsters are in a state of disrepair. The dumpsters themselves are rarely put back into the structure after dumping, and the area is seldom cleared of detritus. Think twice before moving into this apartment complex and if you do plan to move out after the first year. This complex is nowhere to make a "home".

              Ok. So.... Lights outside my apartment haven't worked in over 10 months, no walkways lights, the laundry room is always dirty, with washing machines full of dead bugs (when they are not flooded and out of order). The apartment was dirty when I moved in. They will probably want it super clean when u move it and will charge a cleaning fee but I'm pretty sure the next tenant will still move into a dirty apartment. Staff is beyond bored and rude. They never have an answer for anything. One time I put in a request for maintenance, the guy came 2 weeks later and after 2 additional requests. I won't mention anything about how trashy the place is because it's not politically Correct. But it's as white trash as it gets. Pretty tragic. Oh almost forgot. Be prepared to open your door when the police knocks because they can't find the right apartment when They get calls from "a woman in distress". Yeah. Sounds like a trailer park. It kindof is

                Ive never had a problem with any apartment i lived in until i moved into these apartments. When i moved in i had cracks in the wall, a broken dishwasher, a HUGE hole in my bathroom door, and lights in all rooms stopped working..all which never got fixed after being reported several times! Not to mention thr laundry facilities had tons of bugs!!! It was so gross!! They were in and around the machines !! After 4 1/2 months of living there on a 6 month lease i turned in a notice letting them know id be leaving whenever my lease ended which i believed to be feb 28th. I continued to call and ask of everything in my notice was accurate and each time was told all dates were correct and that it was perfectly over 30 days in advance. Then after completely moving out a month after turning in the notice they called saying my move out was wrong and that id be fined. The management is unorganized, tricky and quick to hide if something needs fixing. These are by far the worst apartments ive ever lived and i regret every minute of it! P.s. apartment prices change every payment day. Do not go to these apartments just turn around and run! Save yourself $800+ ..if i could rate these apartments in the negatives i would honestly.

                  I am a perspective tenant and my first impression of this place was exceptional. then I realized the people that rent you out the apt have no clue what is going on. they told me my total move in with all my app fees and sure deposit would be 175.00 we filled out the papers and when it came down to it they charged me 500.00 to move in. when I asked the lady doing my paperwork said it was upper managements fault that they should honor the deal but they will not so it was up to me if I wanted to continue on with the deal. I decide to move forward with the process then I was told that the whole deal for this month would be a grand total of 499.00. The day before move in they said that they needed another deposit of 131.50 (which I had already wrote a check for in the beginning) because I had a broken lease on my credit. I went to the office and informed them I have never had a apt before therefore there should be no way I have a broken lease on my credit. I asked the girl behind the desk in the office if I could use there computer and that I would print out my full credit report for them to show upper management. after doing this they assured me everything would be fine and we could move in tomorrow and that they would get upper management to override it and we could move on in. As of today 9-10-2014 at 1:30 this afternoon I got a phone call that upper management did over ride it but now they still want another 131.50 because of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you override the error why am I still spending more money so for a small recap what was supposed to be 175.00 total move in for the month of September I am now at a grand total of 630.50 and I haven't even signed my lease yet!!

                    I just got off the phone with the manager. She told me that the walkway to my building has lights out that require permits from the city to fix and since they take time I have to walk in the dark and it's not their fault. I asked if she should maybe not rent apartments in my building since it's a public safety issue and she said she has to so she can pay for the repairs. She also stated that my windows that are missing caulking have leakage and my property gets damaged it's my issue not theirs. That I need flood insurance. They have tried to repair the vent from the AC leaking into my tub twice now and it still drips. I complained for months about it and they finally came when I told them the drip was now a major leak. I don't use the stairs but you can see in the picture that the banister is not connected to the stud. If you push it it will come off. She said she would try and get my list of complaints handled after I told her I would write reviews in every social media site and apartment review site. She said maybe I was having a bad day and I was taking it out on them! I told her no I've had a bad six months since I moved here!! There are too many issues with this complex. If they eventually fix everything it would be an ok place to live but for now STAY AWAY. They have been promising to fix things for six months!!

                    Well, I'm sorry to say that all those nice comments about this complex are most likely coming from management staff themselves. I have been living here for three years now, and unfortunately I have just renewed my lease.. Big mistake. The new management is rude, liars, incompetent and full of excuses when it comes to fixing something. Our stairwells and parking lots been in the dark for about 3 to 4 months, exactly since the new management took over, making our neighborhood unsafe. The do not care if tenants, old people and children fall off the stairwell due to the darkness, and not to mention the thieves that since then been visiting our parking lots due to lack of proper lighting. But I guess the new management are to busy, cheap "remodeling" the apartments and making a mess, instead of taking care their tenants real needs. Seems like they do not know their priorities... or they are to good at ignoring them. On more little comment, They do not allow Fed Ex and UPS to leave packages in their office anymore for the convenience and safety of their residents. Packages are been left outside the apartments and are getting stolen. Looks like the good ol' days are gone... to much rent money for practically NOTHING.

                      I was told this place would be "better" since new management. So far my apartment hasn't had working a/c it was up to 86 degrees. Dog poop everywhere! Fleas etc. brain dead staff behind the desk. Most the people here moved in when the bank owned it so a lot of convicts and strippers. Locations nice but not worth the pre Ike moldy lowest bidder surroundings. Appliances are new floors are a weird wavy fake wood flooding that look great in pictures. Overall if this place had people with any sense running it it could be nice. They need to clean out duct work and get new a c units.

                        I've lived in this complex for 2 years this month and I have to say I wholeheartedly disagree with 98% of what the other reviewers are saying. I have been through 3 different sets of management staff and the newest ones are by far the best. I will agree that the people they have before the newest cadre were unprofessional and rude at times and they left in 2013 so that might account for the bad reviews up to now. The maintenance staff are great and have responded to a whole hosts of requests on my behalf- everything from loose cabinet doors and broken light panels to installing a whole new A/C unit when mine went out over the summer. I can't say enough about how prompt and professional they were. The staff in the front office know me by name since I get a lot of packages and they always greet me and attend to me quickly, no matter how busy they are at the moment. I think living in apt is an experience and you'll get out of it what you put into it. I have enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to anyone. Quiet, clean, low stress living.

                          This apartment is a joke! Dog poops everywhere. Washer and dryer room is filthy. Grout is coming off. Tiles are cracked. They even painted the molds in the windows to cover up. All the staff, from the manager down to the maintenance guys are not corteous! They only collecting your rent plus utilities almost $50 that comes from nowhere and pest control reimbursement even if there's none! Can even hear the water running down when your neighbors flush their toilet, and their foot steps and sometimes the boy and girl thing. What a nightmare! Can't wait to move out when my lease expires. :(

                            I have been living here sense April the very first day I moved in my A.C unit broke then had to deal with raccoons living in my addict for 2 month's them crawling up and down my balconies. Tile in my kitchen floor is coming up my closet door's or falling off and I have been reporting problems with my A.C unit and nothing is getting done about it I received an $333 light bill from my energy company because my A.c is always running because my apartment does not cool down.

                              I just retired and moved in here three weeks ago and my wife and I love it. We feel like we got the best apartment for the money on the island. Huge bathroom and kitchen make the apartment stand out. Great view of the cove is great and the people seem to be very friendly. Tina and Barbie in the office have been great. We look forward to the upcoming year of our lease.

                                This apartment complex is always dirty, has trash every where. Getting something fixed with your apartment is a joke. Have had a whole in the ceiling for 3 months. Tile is cracked and grout is coming out in pieces. The only thing they do on a regular basis is collect the rent and mow the grass. I cannot wait until my lease is up in August to move out.....

                                  I moved here last august, almost a year now. The apartments are nice, maintenance was always fast and they didnt make me feel uncomfortable (i've encountered some weird maintenance guys in the past lol). Im a very simple person and these apartments fit my needs very well, i dont have any issues with roaches, the whole time i've been here i have seen about 3 roaches in my apartment and thats because i would forget to schedule pest control. the office people were always nice and understanding. Just recently they changed to new management, but so far i havent had any bad experiences with them. OK now for the not so good stuff. When i first moved here my neighbors were quiet, i felt safe, etc. Now i have about 2 set of new neighbors. The ones right next door to me are ALWAYS loud right outside my window. they just sit there all hours of the night smoking cigs etc. and drinking. just last night i was awaken at 3am from them,they always have random people over that seem like addicts, none of them work, they just sit outside my door/window playing their loud rock music and drinking. These apartments are nice, but a bad neighbor can definetly ruin it!

Who ever took over our homes left us in the hands of extremly rude, non proffesional little girls!!! I will not be sighning another lease i would rather live in a dumpster than be treated like criminals at a place where i pay way to much rent!!!!!

                                          Lived here for only ONE MONTH and were thinking of breaking our lease our door is rusty and can scrape our 2 year old son's foot and we brought this up when we first moved in and no replacement yet we have pest problems (ie) big roaches, alot of knats, and worst of all racoons living in our attic. This is absolutely outrageous we brought this up the the manager 3 times already and NOTHING at all these racoons travel up and down our walls and its absolutely ridiculous because we hear them all day and night and its not peaceful at all. It scary because we have a 2 year old and were about to have a newborn soon. So if you want a worry free home do NOT live here cause its not.

                                            Great place to live

                                            I just read all the comments about this place most of which were negative and found it somewhat comical. This is one of the cheapest places on the island yet the customer service and overall experience has been pleasant. The most annoying part is the fact that there is dog crap in the grass but that's not that big of a deal and is more the tenants fault than the staff. We live on the 3rd floor and noise has never been an issue. There is always someone to answer the phone when there is a problem, I've called as late as 9:00 P.M. we have also had service people come by after normal operating hours to fix the a/c. The only other complaint would be that the work out facility is a joke if you want to do anything other than use a treadmill. Lived here for 2 years and have found this place to be significantly cheaper than most of our friends places. Would recommend it if you are looking to stay at decent place that's cheap I'm sure there are nicer places but you will have to pay the price. We bought are own washer and dryer units so I can't say much for the quality there.

                                              I do live here and it is the worst place i have ever lived. Their is dog poop all over the apartment complex, very bad up keep of the outside pool and grounds, pets policy is joke, and in the last year they have let some real thugs move in to the complex. The smell of DOPE fills the air all the time.

                                                I have lived here with my husband for the last seven years. Over that time we've had many great neighbors and have made some good friends. The maintenance staff,especially Cedric has alwaws been prompt to correct any problems that have come up over the years. The office staff has always been very helpful. I feel safe here and will probably live here for a long time.
