Nice place, extremely poor management
Have really enjoyed the apartment, views, etc. But when one has a problem, especially after hours, forget any type of service. It should be a criminal offense when one's A/C goes out, in the summer over the weekend, to not have repairs performed immediately. They are too cheap to have a service company, but rely on in-house maintenance. This occurred more than once, did not return phone calls and were basically uncooperative.

Very Nice
We looked at rental properties for one year before deciding on St. Thomas for a weekend home until we bought a house.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the property, views and amenities. It is hard work and not very rewarding to maintain multi-family properties. Tenants have no clue of the work, problems, costs and time involved in maintaining a property.

We recommend St. Thomas and will miss the convenience and amenities when we move to our restored home.

Falling Down
Back when I first moved in I thought it was a pretty nice place. I lived there for a little over a year and it´s definitely starting to fall down. I think we went through about 3 or 4 managers during my time there and I don´t know how many mainainence men. When I left there was one guy trying to take care of all of the apartments.
They have it all built up so it doesn´t flood but when it rains, there are mud slides and the A/C´s, wooden beams they use to keep everything in and bridges across the lake fall down. The stairs are falling apart and rusting through (although I have seen they are starting to redo them). Not as nice as they used to be but part of that can be blamed on Heron´s Walk next door.
Parking sucks, or it did while I was there. I heard it´s better now because so many people have moved out. Used to after 6pm you could barely find a parking space.

Great place to live!
This place is the best place to live if you like the finer things. There are lake views, great aminities and friendly people. The staff cares about the residents, they even have get togethers to have residents mingle. Pets are allowed and maintnence problems are fixed asap. Dispite all the bad comments the "younger crowd" makes in previous letters before mine, im a 35 yr old single mother living here with my son and i love it. it IS quiet and well built. at Lakeside apartments residents are just known as a number (apartment number that is). St Thomas care about each one of their residents!

This Place Sucks
This place truly sucks. This is by far the worst place I have ever lived. I am calling the city on this place. If you are interested the number is 409-797-3600, this place truly isn´t fit to live.

Yuck!
I have roaches due to my neighbors. The entre way to my apartment is always trashed. And it takes the office for ever to do anything to fix the problems that you are having.

Awful,Terrible, Poor Management
This is the worst place I´ve ever dealt with. The management is lazy and does not care about their tenants. There is constantly the trash from Heron´s Walk around St. Thomas. Parking sucks. Cars are able to park right in front of the entrance to the apartments, making it impossible to access the apartment easily. It also appears that the building is falling apart. Go to Lakeside. The staff if very friendly and accomodating. The grounds are clean and quiet.

Dont move here especially if you have kids!
My friend moved here because of the school district. Bad Decision!! Because of the thugs that live in "herions walk" there was a child melister roaming around the apartments and abusing young children. This place is the ------ so if you value your possesions stay away.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!
I totally agree with other people who have posted their reviews so far. I only got one thing to say. Try to stay in an apartment with a broken A/C for two weeks during the summer in Texas without anyone even bothering to fix it or take care of your problem. Plus overflow toilet and broken dishwasher and no one ever showed up to fix them. That would explain all.

Terrible Management!
This place sucks. On the outside it looks nice; when you take a tour they seem nice; but if you ever have a problem with the place, good luck getting it fixed! The air vents are moldy, the appliances don´t work, the electrical wiring is terrible, the cabinets are peeling, and there are huge energy leakage problems. The maintenance man is nice but REALLY slow and incompetent. You really have to ride the management´s butt to get anything fixed around here. When we moved in we were missing a window--yes, the glass was GONE--and they taped cardboard up there for a couple of weeks until we finally got really mad and then, voila!, a new piece of glass, although really poorly installed. We paid about $180 a month in energy bills because the place sucks power into a vacuum or something. Across the street is section 8 housing, so there is always a lot of noise. Also there´s a resident here we call GuitarMan who thinks he can play electric guitar, so he turns up his amp and his radio full blast and blows us away while he plays along. St. Thomas will tell you all about their great alarm system, but they never even set ours up and it´s a pain in the butt to get your permit from the city, plus the neighbors who DID get theirs set up say they go off for no reason. The lake is pretty to look at, and that´s just about the only good thing about this place. We used to live across the lake at Lakeside, and there´s just no comparison. If you´re looking to live on the west end of Galveston, go to Lakeside! They are SOOOOO much better. They take care of their property and have beautiful landscaping and management that just can´t be beat. They´ll fix your maintenance problems the same day most of the time.
