Really nothing to complain about!

My husband and I have lived here for the last 3 years. Rent is very reasonable and I've never had any problems with any of the staff!! With my husband in the military he is deployed often and I have never been scared of the complex..anytime I needed repairs it was done in a timely manner!!

Absolutely the WORST apartments in Galveston, HANDS DOWN!!! Do NOT choose to call this dump "home" or you will regret it. It may seem nice at first, but if you stay you will soon find out the truth. The apartment is extremely small for the price. Rent is high and you do NOT get what you pay for. They will be nice when you come to take a look, but that is all fake. Once you have signed the lease, the staff and management are very rude and condescending. There is enough hot water to shower for about one minute. Things brake weekly and the fix is temporary (if fixed at all). It is extremely noisy, you can hear everything. Strange people will knock on your door at all times. There are stray cats. My apartment had a flea problem that was never resolved. The parking lot has huge holes and is not very well lit, it is very scary and I did not feel safe being outside at night. It is very clear this company is not interested in providing a safe, enjoyable place for its tenants...they only want your money. That is why many people move out immediately after their lease is over. Do some research, there are way better apartments in Galveston for the money. Do NOT settle and spend your money wisely :)

HORRIBLE- RUN the other direction

HORRIBLE! Please do not lease here. My sister was a tenant there and had a stalking situation that required her to move immediately. They showed no sympathy. We couldn't file a police report in fear of retaliation and threats that were made against our family. The lady in the leasing office basically accused her of lying about the whole situation. I am sure, because moving within 24 hours and quitting your job of 3 years is what every woman dreams of. Secondly, she didn't have hot water the ENTIRE tenure of her lease. She had complained numerous times and nothing was done. They advised her something was done but she continued to take cold showers. On Christmas of last year, a bird got into her apartment while she was out of town and there were bird feces everywhere. This is the WORST place to live in Galveston and they raise the rent every year and provide NOTHING decent in return. The parking lot at night is very dimly light and unsafe for single females and the stairs are an accident waiting to happen. With all of this being said, please read all of these reviews and trust what they are saying. They took all of her deposits and charged her an outrageous reletting fee. All of this seems like a small price to pay to know my sister is out of "hell" literally.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!

This is absolutely the worst place to live!!! Do NOT choose this place to call home. There is enough hot water to take a shower for 2 minutes. It is extremely small for the price. Management and staff are extremely rude. Legitimate complaints are dealt with by blaming you. Things brake weekly and the fix is temporary. I would not live here even if they paid me. There are stray cats. It is very noisy, you can hear everything and strange people will knock on your door all the time. I have moved and love my new apartment, it is nothing like this place. Trust me, do some research and find a better place...you will be much happier anywhere else!!!

I have lived at Newport Apartments for over 5 years and think that it's a great place to live. The Manager and office personnel are always friendly and helpful. The maintenance staff, in my experience is always very prompt to take care of any problems that may arise. I was living in a small one bedroom unit and needed to move into something larger. After searching all over the Island, and looking for a better value, I decided to stay with Newport and just move into a larger apartment. I have been very happy living here and expect to remain here far into the future. I would highly recommend Newport to anybody who is looking for a good value, good neighborhood, and a safe environment.

Dump Slum

Watch out for being tricked into believeing you will enjoy living here! Office management will put on thier happy faces and show you around, like the pool that has not repaired from holes in the pool walls and so undesirable that many tenants refuse to use, the clubhouse you can reserve for company but has no access to a restroom, the laundry room with no hot water, fountains that look like the lake, the lack of landscaping with tree roots bare unless you count the dog poop and flea, mice and pigeon infestation. Post-Ike entry doors rusted, old cheap carpet that appears mystery stains shortly after move in, since the Post-Ike mold has not been treated properly many neighbors are complaining of sinus and eye illness. Point is that its very obvious this company is not really interested in providing a nice, enjoyable and safe community and this is why people are moving out at end of lease. Its truly a shame that they wont spend the money to make it right and they have resided to being slumlords just to make a buck.

you get what you pay for cheap rent gets you bad service

I have lived at campeche cove less than a year and had airconditioning problems regularly and maintenance supertvisor Joe always says he will be back and doesn't and instead of talking the problem he tries to talk about himself and his karate. I don't know if it'smeant to be intimidating or other also talking down the other staff members. it seems to me that he is the only one that doesn't do anything to fix problems. when I tried to express my dissatisfaction to the manager [connie]I felt no one cared. it is my sincere hope that somehow these problems are looked into.

Worst Place Ive Ever Lived. SAY NO!

To say this place is a dump is an understatement. There is a huge hole that you have to drive through to get to the parking area. The gate is broken and missing. There are mice all over and stray cats like crazy. They do not even attempt to keep the grounds nice. They dig huge holes and leave them open for months. The office staff is rude as well. Parking is ridiculous. Also people will park boats, rvs, trailers in multiple spots but if you even park your vehicle close to the fence and you will get a towing warning. The place is really bad. It will seem nice at first, but give it time and you'll regret it. There are MUCH better places on the island for the money.

be sure to ask the neighbors in the building you are moving into as to what their opinion is; especially on electric bills. shotty work on repairs. constant run around from the staff, they seem great and are very nice, but no follow through. I developed asthma while living there, and I know of 6 others whom have berthing issues now as well (bronchitis, allergies more than normal, ect.)And why did it take 3 days for maintenance to put up a safety block around the sink hole that opened up during the Mardi Gras storms?

Love it here!

When I moved into my apartment three years ago we had wonderfull management and a place we could call home. After Ike, everything changed. The management, or lack of, was so terrible that people moved out in droves. I was going to be next. Then we got a Connie. With her came Holly and Janae. How did we get so lucky. These gals care, never forget that this is our home and are on top of whatever needs done. If they can't get to something right away, you know why and they will do everything they can to accomodate you. If you haven't looked at Newport lately, do so. I think it is the best deal on the island.

A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE !

Newport at Campeche Cove is indeed a great place to live. I have rented many nice apartments and NONE of them compare to where I'm living now. My apartment is Beautiful, Comfortable and Spacious. I am lucky enough to live on the Lakeside, the views are awesome, it's so quiet and peaceful. Living at Campeche gives me a "Piece of Mind" that I haven't felt in quite some time. The Office Staff is Wonderful, I can't enough good things about them. They are truly helpful, kind & considerate. The staff goes above and beyond when you need them which is a rare find these days. (most apartment complexes are all about THE NUMBERS and once you move in they forget about you) Connie the office manager is an asset to the company! Maintenance is great, the guys are respectful, experienced, knowledgeable and on the ball! The parking spaces are wide and convenient(instead of cramped) I don't have to worry about my nice vehicle being parked in their parking lot. The apartment complex is only 1/4 mile from the gulf and the Lakeside Pool at Campeche is Beautiful, Relaxing and well taken care of. If you are looking for a great place to live in Galveston, you need to do yourself a favor and check-out NEWPORT at CAMPECHE COVE, you won't regret it!! It's one of Galvestons best kept secrets nestled in the back on the lake. I have read the other reviews that were written quite some time ago and rest assured that there is a huge difference in Newport at Campeche Cove since they were written.

If you look around to the apartments next door which are 4. They are the worse as for clean walks, walk ways, and stair cases. In the last 2 years they haven't power washes anything. There is several employee's way isnt this place getting fixed or clean. And they want to increase the rent! What!!! Look in the duct work people they dont clean them out and they are full of mold..

Poor maintenance, management and property

I have had nothing but problems with my apartment from day 1. Due to faulty wiring/ breaker maintenance we had consistent power outages the week we moved in. It took a week to fix it. Now, 10 months later the power outage problems resurfaced, and it still took over 2 weeks to resolve the issue. Maintenance admitted that several buildings have this problem. Our apartment did not come with phone lines wired in. Maintenance replaced the phone jack covers but did not wire them in. This cost us repairs from the phone service company. Our bathroom floor tile is cracking and sunken in because of previous water damage, but management brushes this issue off. We have a mouse problem, but have to buy our own mice traps. Our fireplace vent is broken, and is still not fixed 11 months after first reporting it. I have had to deal with over 4 requests to fix a LARGE leak in the bathroom roof, each time requiring a lot of clean up. Maintenance does the work as long as it is a simple job, like fixing a clogged drain, otherwise they make excuses not to do the work. I am usually accepting of some maintenance issues, but ALL the issues in this apartment have been major. Frequent electrical outages, leaking roofs, mice. The landscaping is poor, and after it rains the parking lot is a muddy mess. Yes, the neighbors can also be loud and we have had to call the police to enforce noise ordinances 3 or 4 times. Management also lied about their free cruise rental incentives. Overall the management is below par, and not very helpful. Living in this complex is an exercise of frustration. Stay away from this complex for your own peace of mind.

Greedy Management

I signed a 7 month lease in one of the one bedroom apartments. Rent was affordable, (only because I caught a good special)the maintenance man was nice. I only had a few problems, but nothing that was'nt addressed and fixed in a timely manner. The office staff changes daily I beleive. I was showed my apartment by a really nice man, went back 3 days later to sign a lease and leave a deposit and he no longer worked there. After that, it was a steady change of faces when I went to the office once a month to pay my rent. Those people never even knew who I was! After I completed my entire lease (never being late on my rent) I checked my credit report and noticed I owed a balance of over 2600! Never once did I receive a bill, nor do I know what damages they are claiming were done. I am now having to spend every free minute of my 'business hours' trying to resolve management's greedy ways... Nice place to live, but you better not ever leave!!

Home Sweet Home

I have now lived in my apartment for one year and am so happy here. The complex is quiet, clean and pretty. I love my apartment, it has everything I wanted in an apt, a fireplace, storage room, bookcase, washer/dryer connections, pre-wired for alarm and to top it off; my balcony overlooks the lake and you can see the gulf from my bay window! I love it! The office staff has always been courteous and professional with me. Most of all I feel very safe here.

WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER LIVED!!!!

I lived here for 2yrs and I always paid my rent on time and was never a problem tenant. However, upon my move out I was given a large move out sum for "damages" and even though I was against the amount I went ahead and just paid them the full amount so that I was done and didn't have to deal with that appt anymore since I had already moved into a new appt in a different city. Three weeks later I get a call from a collections agent saying I never never paid them the moving out fee and that this was going to affect my credit!! I called the office and they said oh well we just separated the paper work into piles by who had paid and who hadn't. Fact was that I drove from Austin to Galveston two days after my lease ended and personally handed them a check for the total moving out amount so that I MADE sure they received it. After an extremely time consuming ordeal everything was FINALLY put to rest a month after I moved out of the appt. The appt complex is also extremely noisy, there are always drunken disputes going on with people getting arrested, no security, the management is incredibly rude and careless to your needs (i had to ask 4 times to get them to put a new bulk in to light the staircase, because at night it was so dark that you couldn't see and i almost fell down the stairs on numerous occasions). Overall I would stay away from this appt complex there are MUCH better ones in the area, for example Club of the Isle right across the street and the prices are not much different.

I spoke with a friend who just had to move from these apartments and had the same horrible experience as my wife and i did as well. His apartment kept smelling musky and he just couldnt get over the smell. But trying to get management to do something about this was a joke. The management are the worst on the island and dont think you can break your contract even if the apartment is unliveable. Oh but this apartment complex does have one thing that they are definitely the best at and that is growing rats. I know it is f-ing gross and really unacceptable and hope that the EPA has to go out and inspect them because their doors will be locked

An unfortunate blemish on the face of galveston island

I am sad to say that i have been supremely disappointed in this property. I had high hopes upon meeting the manager and viewing the grounds, but nothing has lived up to what has been promised. Let us begin with the facility itself - it is still recovering from ike, or so claims the management. In reality the landscaping is terrible, including leaning trees, overhanging branches, severe and dangerous soil erosion undercutting buildings and causing AC units to tilt, an entire row of buildings is help up by a teetering wall of lanscape timbers supported by struts that have just been wedged in, walkways are uneven, gates only open with force, the lake is full of trash, the waterway inbetween the buildings is green and sluggish - more putrid breeding ground for insects than quick flowing stream - it smells in hot weather, The parking lot is covered in silt and sand that has eroded from unkempt beds and started growing algae, there is mold absolutely covering the outside of the buildings, and there is no sign of anything being done about any of it. I moved in May of 2010, and when i moved in i left a work order for things that needed to be corrected. This order went untouched for months. After a month i started complaining, after a month and a half i was told that my order had been lost, after two months they tried to buy me off with a $20 gift card to target, after two and a half months they fixed a loose cabinet and a pair of blinds, they declined to fix my screen door because simply removing it was a much more simple option, to date they still have to replace or provide 7 screens, fix the six broken tiles, fix my bedroom door (which doesnt close), fix my chimney flue, and replace my screen door. However my request for a smoke detector battery was promptly answered after 5 weeks. When i moved in i found crayon all over the fireplace, my smoke detector was hanging off the wall without a battery, and there were rocks in my garbage disposal. My college dorm room was in better condition when i moved in. <for you Tamug aggs - mariner> I am sorry i signed a lease here, so be carefull and make sure you get them to fix what you want before you move in!

6 months and going strong

We currently live at Newport at Campeche Cove and we have enjoyed the last six months. We have called maintenance for a few big items and many small and they have been prompt and helpful. Our apartment is newly remodeled, not perfect, but nice. Just like any new home you have to look closely at what your moving into before signing any lease. Don't let the bad comments scare you. everything bad, wrong & disgusting is right!

I also lived at Newport for one year. I experienced the same issues many others have mentioned. POOR management who manipulates and lies at every opportunity. Interiors of units are poorly constructed even if they appear to be fairly new. The cabinets will eventually come loose from the walls/celing in the kitchens, the countertops will warp and gap .. it's common to see where inches of caulking was used to hide gaps between cabinets &walls/ceiling or countertops & walls, the carpet is cheap and seamed in unusual place which is clearly visible. There IS mold in the ducts so check that out (they won't do anything except tell you it's dirt and that "it's normal") even when the mold crawls out of the duct and begins covering the walls & ceilings. Some genius decided to paint the tubs and tub walls which will peel off and look disgusting - I had mine repainted 4 times in the year I lived there and had to call every single day to complain before they got the company out to repaint it. I had my door kicked in once and it took 3 months for it to be repaired - the door would not close properly and could not be locked as the door jamb had been destroyed when the door was kicked in - the ONLY reason it was ever VERY POORLY repaired is that I finally reported it to the city who gave Newport 24 hrs to repair the door. It's been almost a year later and they've never returned to replace the trim on the inside and it's still a "make-shift" repair. My a/c wasn't cooling, maintenance told me it was fine, but added coolant .. a week later when it still wasn't cooling (this was in July and I lived on the 3rd floor) I called again for them to come out and was told it needed replaced - 3 months later after going July, August and Sept without a/c - they finally replaced the unit, but again, I had to call and report the issue to the city who again had to threathen Newport. Anything you read about this apartment community that reports it as being TERRIBLE, disgusting, poorly constructed, dealing with management who has a bad attitude, poor maintenance etc., is absolutely TRUE and they hire/fire managers daily so you'll never know who's in the office or even if they really do work there .. or the managers quit on a daily basis .. this company is B A D all the way up their corporate ladder so calling the corporate office to complain will get you nowhere!! .. also might mention that if you're told they have any "amenities" better see them for yourself because all they have is a pool which typically is unusable due to lack of cleaning and chemical maintenance!! .. amenities are never available to see because they've always "just ordered them" or there getting something new .. like I said .. they LIE at every opportunity!! BEWARE, BE CAREFUL .. stay away!! go somewhere else!! and don't go to Newport at West Beach either .. same owners and same management so it operates EXACTLY the same way only it's MORE expensive!!

DISGUSTING!

I lived there for one year and it was the worst place ever! On top of horrible management,horrible maiteanance, and horrible attitudes the apartments are just cheap and dirty! The carpet isn't correctly put it it will come up on the borders within one month and you WILL get charged for it, the mold is indescribable within the second day of living there i realized a scratch at the bottom of the bath tub then after that every time after taking a shower more scratches appeared which i discovered was the PAINT that they used to cover the mold in the bathroom. Even bleaching the bathroom once a week didn't work mold develops everywhere! on the ceilings on the walls all under the paint on the doors, and in the lease it states basically in a tiny section that the mold is the tenants problem and it must be cleaned when you move out. I probably went to the office about 5 times to complain and was told that maintenance will be out sometime soon to fix the problem but of course no one ever came. Now that is just a few things but i don't ever recommend anyone ever renting from that company OH and don't be fooled by there "new management" pshhh it's just a cover up nothing has changed! and if you don't like young loud partying college student definitely don't move in , it's like a dorm!

Terrible!

painted over mold...POOP everywhere...cheating management...250.00 electric bills...non working appliances (didhwaher ect) pocketed my pet deposit..stained carpets..cracked tiles...leak in ceiling (3mo no fixing) no chlorine in the pool...lying staff workers...brake-ins into cars by residents and other trash...THis place is one of the most terrible places you can choose to live dont waiste your time or money

Terrible Mgmt, HUGE rats!

Management - simply terrible, never helpful, unprofessional, and only want to take your money...even if you don't owe them a dime!! My husband and I did not have hot water for a month!!! Cold showers in the winter = not fun, but management could care less. I contacted management at least 5 times to fix this problem, but I guess it was not that important to them because they didn't have to take a cold shower in the winter! Rats - they are everywhere! That pretty much is all I have to say about that! Complex grounds - still looks like the hurricane hit Newport at Campeche Cove yesterday! Drugs - I have to call the police several times because young teenagers like to do drugs in the apartment parking lot at all hours of the night! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!! I would recommend Club of the Isle across the street. I have many friends that live there, and I've never heard a complaint from them.
