Unbelievable arrogance and ignorance!
Upon requesting to sign a notice or termination of our lease nearly 90 days before it expired, the rude and ignorant staff on duty (Michael) informed me that the manager would not provide the necessary form until 45 days before the lease was to expire. So, by the terms of our lease agreement, we have to give at least a 45 day advance notice but if we fail to notify them in at least 30 days, the lease renews. Simple: screw your tenants by leaving them no more than 15 day window to make sure you follow the terms of your lease. He would not give his full name, would not answer simple questions, would not give the manager's name, would not tell me who was in charge or the manager on duty and beyond unprofessional. You lease here, you are at your own risk and be prepared for abuse and ignorant. Seek legal advice. He claims not to be licensed with the Texas Real Estate Commission nor his manager. We have rights and they need to know the consumer will not take their nonsense. Lease elsewhere and let them know the power of the consumer's money. And do not stop until Michael, his poorly trained manager and the ignorant owners get the Message.

A Real Bad Choice
I was fooled by the look and now after living here for about 6 months, its pretty clear that I made a wrong decision to lease in Mira Vista. its hard to believe how miserable is life in this complex. my neighbours share similoar view; I am not sure who are the happy tenants that write great reviews in this website. The management company is different from the owner; they change every day and they dont care about the buidling, maintenance. Dirty Pool, trash bags left everywhere, insects in the apartments, noise after 10 p.m., errors in billing and extra charges for nothing, loosing the checks and then cherging for the late fees are among a few items to list.

New to San Antonio
I am new to San Antonio and my new job at Valero recommended Mira Vista. I really liked how close I would be to work and of course the shops across the street were pretty neat too. Before viewing I was recommended to go to this site but the reviews made me wonder so I had to check it out for myself. I have now leased an apt and will move in June 1st. I really liked Lisa who helped me find an apartment with a view of the golf course. I told her about the reviews but she explained that everyone in the office was new along with the manager. I think the apartments are actually gorgoeus and have no complaints. Everytime I have called everyone has been helpful.

Mira Vista - Love It!!!
Just moved in, in Jan 2009 and love my apartment! Was scared at first when i read these reviews but Im glad I went to check out these apartments! Love the location, its is awesome! If you play basketball or tennis, their outdoor facilites are fantastic! I can go out at night just switch the light timer and play tennis with my wife or bball with my buddies from work. The Saunas that they have actually do work (unlike my previous apartments). And the view I have is AMAZING! I love waking up every morning to the La Cantera Golf Course and Hill Country! The staff is always nice and friendly. Property manager actually knows my name and is always willing to help me in every situation that may arise. The new staff is very helpful and cant wait for the Fiesta Texas fireworks shows this summer! I would def recommend this complex to anyone!

Was ready to put down a deposit but walked out with it...
My wife and I had spent the previous day looking for apartments. We started with this complex, we were told it is a great location and such. The location was great, that was not a problem at all. When we went to go look at one that was open the lady had to go back numerous times to get the correct key. We asked to see one with a garage so we could get measurements of them too. Well we got to see a floor plan similar to what we were looking for which was not a problem, but they did not have a garage available for us to look at and get measurements to have (they didn't even have measurements either). After looking at the place we continued on to look at others. In the end we selected this one as the best of the ones we looked at. We saw these reviews and tried to give them a fair chance. The next day.... We went back with money orders in hand ready to sign and get placed on a waiting list. There was a couple in there talking to one of the ladies in the office. They were being double billed for their access key (they had already paid for it the first time as required). The lady acknowledge that they had and still said they would bill them. After they had finished we asked if we could speak to the couple outside. The explained to us about the parties going on with the college students and the apartment not doing anything about it as well as the drug dealing. They had to record the parties going on for the staff to recognize it and to remove them from the premises. Also they were billed twice for water multiple times. As my wife and I returned to the office the same young lady asked to help us and we asked if they were with the Texas Apartment Association, she said they weren't (word of advice, if they are not apart of the association then more problems are likely to arise). We then asked if we could see a lease they use before placing our deposit to get an apartment three months from now (will be moving there at that time). She said they do not let us read or see the lease. This made me see the red flag for sure and the attitude of the lady dealing with the couple in front of us and with us made me decide right then we did not want to live there. Most of the reviews on here do reflect the things we saw. If you want to give this place a fair shot, sit in the office a few times and listen as other people come in with problems to see how it is handled. Ask the people how they like living there ( the couple wasn't the only group we had talked to dealing with this and each one said its a great location but management and maintenance sucks). I am sure you will see something close to what we did.

The apartments that RIPS off good people
I lived at these so called luxury apartments for a year and let me just say I regret the day I signed the lease. It took them over a month to fix a broken AC unit in the middle of summer, during which time I was pregnant. Had a horrible ant infestation and did I mention the random grease/water (they never bothered to check) stains that would apear on the walls at such hights where you couldn't say oh someone with a greasy or wet hair leaned on the wall. Not to mention a year after I had moved out I come to find out that they have sent me to collections for a so called balance I owe yet they can't find my file anywhere (agency or offices) to tell me what I'm being charged for after the fact they kept my deposit and I left with a $0 balance when I turned in my keys. They screw you even after your gone.

Don't be fooled by the outside beauty and so-called upper-scale locale
A complete scam of an apartment. I believe the word "poser" is appropriate. Nestled in the upper-scale area of La Cantera Parkway (next to the Westin Resort and La Cantera Shops), one can be easily fooled into thinking the complex is a nice place to live. Simply put, its not. While the outside of the buildings trick you into thinking the complex is a decent place, you'll find out its not what its cracked up to be. The inside of the apartments have high ceilings and crown molding (thats about it for anything considered upper-scale). Everything else is seriously sub-par. Cheap countertops that easily scrape (and they scrape in a bad way--like sheet rock coming out of paint), $12.95 faucets that break, cheap sinks, cheesy linoleum, air vents that will pick up smoke (to include weed) from the bottom floor apartments, pets that poop all over the place (nice smell during hot humid days), carpets with cat hair, central air that need constant repair (and drip a mysterious fluid over your tub ceiling--yep, just like those horror flicks) and a completely incompetent staff (they took 3 months to credit a "look and lease" concession to me, overcharged me on one occassion, and "accidentally" gave me an internal eviction notice because their "system" glitched. They never apologized once I corrected them.) ONE WORD OF ADVICE IF YOU DO MOVE IN: BE METICULOUS ABOUT YOUR INSPECTION REPORT. I was charged $300 for super-minor scratches, coffee ring, and four bent slats from the mini-blind (all of it from the previous tenants). I'd argue with them about all of this...but at this point, its not worth it. The San Miguel is infinitely better. Super-new on the inside with nickle-brushed modern faucets, modern appliances (black), high ceilings, modern (hypo-allergenic) carpets, real tile, and awesome terraces/porches you can actually use. I just can't believe I missed the San Miguel during my initial apartment search last year. And they are unbelievably less expensive.

A Real Disaster
If you like to live in a place where the management only cares about your payments this is the right place. Trash bags are found everywhere; the bikes in Gym are broken, the hot tubs are not working, the pools are dirty. The gates dont work 1/3 of the time. You have to pay a lot for water no matter how much you use! The managemment has recently lodged bunch of divorced people who picnic with their family.

Not the luxury apartments they state they are...
This place is outdated. When my husband and I moved in there was dried, leftover food from a previous tenant on the walls and cabinets. The carpet smelled absolutely horrible! We constantly bought scented plug ins & kept the A/C running. We once opened the air return duct & it was completely BLACK...hmmm perhaps mold!?! Our bathroom had mildew spots that kept returning. The first couple of months we had to de-flea the place. Yuck. As for all the other reviews stating this place was loud due to partying...we must have lived in a quieter building because I can only recall three loud parties the entire time. We did have to call the cops on a neighbor that beat up his g/f. Luckily he moved out shortly afterwards. But too top things off we lived below some super horny couple that went at it like rabbits every night & morning! Extremely disrespectful! & their dog would bark & run around forever! I am SOOOO glad we moved out & actually can sleep peacefully. We didn't receieve our move-in promotion until after reminding management several times and then the promo expired in a month, even though it was explained & written in our lease otherwise. As far as management goes...for the most part they were not too knowledgable; with the exception of a few helpful staff. They seem to be unorganized & not relay problems to maintenance until days later. And DO NOT expect to receive any deposit back. Even if you clean, paint & leave your apartment spotless.

Unprofessional Management & the ultimate facade
I have had the same experiences with the Management at Mira Vista as others. The management is extremely rude, and they are incompetant when it comes to their accounting, several residents have to deal with them every month because their records were never accurate. It is like watching a Sorority House do business. It's pretty on the outside, but once you go inside you'll be very disappointed. They are out-dated and run-down. The complex is almost 10 yrs old and it shows on the carpets, walls, and appliances. NOT the luxury living I am used to. Had I seen the actual unit and not a well-staged model, I would not have signed a lease. As far as pets... There are plastic bags available in the center of the complex for people to pick up after their dogs. Management refuses to put a garbage can by the pole, so nobody picks up poo (to carry it into their apartments.) The equipment in the exercise room is filthy and actually smells. There were no working treadmills the 1st half of my residence, which is funny b/c the girl that took me on my mira vista tour actually bragged about how their stuff "actually worked!" There are loud parties at all hours... and I'm in my mid-20's ...not an "old fart". I would watch drunk kids playing soccer and screaming in the parking lot at 4 a.m. The pool is over-run with college students from UTSA and other people that don't actually live there. Management never checks. It's almost funny on the weekends to watch the throngs of people pull up to use our pool. The apartment parking is filled with Fiesta Texas go-ers & UTSA students who dont want to pay for parking. You can see them come and go in the morning and night. Not safe. The Management Company is called "Management Support" and they are actually based in California so they have no idea how terrible the management of the property is. The one nice thing I can say, is that their team of Maintinence Staff is extremely helpful, professional and courteous.

Office personnel
I've read some of the reviews on here and some of them are right about the people who work in the office. They are rude, lairs and let thier family stay in thier suits when they are not being rented out to people who actually pay to stay in them. It's about time they got rid of the manager that was there, she was lazy and rude. Hopefully the new will do a better job even though her and the asst. are best friends(have seen them out together and pics of them together on there myspace). It's amazing that there family are allowed to stay thier without a background check being done on them but I had to go through one in order to live thier. I've seen the asst. Mom, Brother, and Sister stay in thier suits as well as the last manager's parents along with there animals while not having to pay for a pet deposit or for anything else and then call there vendors out to clean it up so nobody knows. They are not strict about people cleaning up after thier pets, although at one point they were out making sure people picked up after them, maybe they should do that again. Over all I would not recommend this place to anybody and hope that something is done about the staff in the office.

Not Bad At All...
I like Mira Vista. It is in a great location of town & the staff has always been nice to me. The grounds are very well maintained & it has alot of charm. I beleive most come on this site to vent about their bad experiences and I think Mira Vista deserves a good review. I have never encountered any of the issues these reviews claim, so it sounds like isolated events that have really upset people to the point that they need to be nasty. I plan on staying here at Mira Vista until I buy a home.

Apartment living - but would expect more
I've lives at Mira Vista since Oct of 2007. Whenever I tell anyone in San Antonio where I'm living - I usually get a "those are nice" response. However, for the location and price, I would expect better management. Particularly, the high rate of speed of drivers in the complex - very dangerous and I've yet to see safety warnings posted. Also, there are buildings where residents leave their trash on their doorstep for days at a time and nothing is done. I've waited sometimes 20 minutes in the leasing office to speak to someone - and usually this person is under 25. Every interaction with management involves mistakes. I would like to give the maintenance staff two thumbs up - always persuing the property and respond quickly.

Keep looking
Not much to say about these apts other than if you are college student, this is the place to stay. I notified management one time that my rent would be two days late. Upon arriving in my apt after work on the 2nd day, there was an eviction notice! I called management and the Asst Mgr was the rudest person! She told me to look at my contract more carefully and read the fine print. Last month, I moved out due to a job relocation. I lived alone and left the apt spotless. I received a letter from Mira Vista hoping I would receive some of my deposit back, instead it was a bill that I owed them for the difference of what it would cost to clean the place! Also, Mira Vista pro-rates their water for all tenants. Be careful of this because I was away for 3 weeks one month and my water bill was the same as if I was there the whole time. Management is rude and they think they are above everybody else - surprise, you work in an apt office! If you move in, don't pay a deposit on the gate opener, it doesn't work half the time and bring your earplugs because the students get loud on weekends!

Bad Experience
I recently just moved out of Mira Vista. My lease was only 7 months, I lived alone, and I was barely ever there. I put down a $175 deposit and when I moved out they said I owed an extra $100. I cleaned that apt so it almost looked new when I moved out. I have never had an experience like this before. I supposably owed more money b/c it wasnt clean and the bathtub had a crack in it. The bathtub had a crack in it before I moved in. They probably charged the old tenant for the same thing. Also NEVER PAY YOUR RENT late. I was seriously 1 day late. I paid my rent the morning of the 2nd. They charged my a late fee of $50. I looked up rules on TX tenant laws. In the state of TX it advises landlords not to charge a fee until the tenant is at least 3 days late. Finally, the staff is very unfriendly. Especially the woman who is a manager. Not a nice person at all. Everytime I went to the office she made me feel like I completely interrupted her day.

Went from awe to awful, and fast!
Unlike the management message below me says, I was not evicted and I was able to pay my rent every month. Mira Vista is very decieving. It's gorgeous on the outside, but once you get in an actual unit you will be very disappointed. They are run-down and out-dated. The complex is almost 10 yrs old and it shows on the carpets, walls, and counters. The color scheme is very bland, and if attention to detail is important to you, like it is to me, then don't even look here. My experience was bad right off the bat. I was treated horribly by the management due to the fact that I'm a college student, which is funny to me since the ladies and gentlemen working there can hardly be considered older than myself. The entire staff is a complete pain to deal with and they can be very condescending. Overall, Mira Vista is not the luxury apartments they claim to be. All you will end up paying for is a name and a view.

DON'T DO IT
This has been the worst experience of my life! The management SUCKS they are run by a company called Management Support out of California you can try and call them but they will not talk to you they don't care you will get no response from them. Corie the manager is the worst she expects you to pay your rent on time and hold up your end of the contract however she will not hold up hers Mira Vista is a dump and its to bad under better management it could be a nice place to live.

Worst year of my life
I lived in these apartments for one year. Management is snobby and will not take care of anything. On weekends, some tenants would be in the pool with their dogs. There was never enough parking on the weekends. Mexican Nationals literally rent apartments and come from time to time in which they buy their children millions of toys and leave their empty shopping bags and toy boxes in the stairway. I broke my lease but Mira Vista mistakenly misplaced their records for receipt that I had paid my reletting fees. Not to mention, the apartment was haunted.

I love the complex and the apartment layout. I was not impressed with the staff and the way they handled things when I moved in. I moved in and the carpet still had stains, and the windows were dirty. The apartment was in OK shape. There really is no view with a tree in the way, and part of the leasing office. The grounds are nice, and ameneties.

It was a good experience...
I lived at Mira Vista for over 2 years, and I am continuously recommending the complex to others. I heard about bad ratings on this website and I had to see for myself what it is that I must have missed. I did a great deal of "shopping" when looking for my apartment and this was by far the best complex in the entire city. Granted, no complex is perfect (residents would put their trash out the night before when they know they shoudn't, occassionally a party would break out, things like that), but when you are living in a "community" of something like 400 apartments, it is unrealistic to think that everyone is going to be perfect all of the time. Noise was never an issue for me except once...a superbowl party got a little loud once, whoa, the world is coming to an end. And I read some of the reviews about it being like a college dorm...unless the rules have changed, I know that when I applied for the apartment, I was put through a thorough background check and had to give all sorts of documentation, so there must be a pretty good screening process involved.

Finally, to anyone out there considering this complex, I say this...I wanted to say something nice because too often people only log on to say something negative. Keep that in mind when you read about some bad experiences...and some of you people that talk about things like the staff...let's get realistic...if you had one bad experience once, then fine...but if the kind of monsters that you guys want to describe really work there, does that make a whole lot of business sense? I mean, really? They were strict with things like late rent and stuff like that, but...it was what it was, I signed the lease...I knew when the rent was due. Stuff like that...but I doubt they are as bad as people want to make them out to be.

So, this complex was nice...great views, quiet, clean, upscale, and in a great location. I would still be there if I hadn't bought a house. Go check the place out for yourselves before you listen to some of these people who are bitter about something in there lives and have nothing better to do than complain all the time.

Decent Complex
I lived at Mira Vista for 3 years. Overall I had a good experience. Part of the reason may be that I lived in the building closest to the office, so they had to keep it clean for viewing purposes. My neighbors ranged from really noisy to decent and I learned to call the security guard when I had issues and they usually took care of it. The facilities are great and the pool area is awesome. My main issue with the complex are the people who work in the office. They were incredibly snobby and rude most of the time.

I liked it!
I lived there about 2 years ago went I attended UTSA my freshman year. What a mistake, I hated that city but I did like my apartment. The staff was friendly and whenever I had matainance issues they were resolved promptly. Everyone complaining about noise is ridiculous because, hi, you're living adjacent to a college campus and the more wealthy kids aren't going to want to live in some piece of crap dorn so they do what I did and found the closest, nicest place near campus. I lived on the 2nd floor facing the sand volleyball court and the noise never bothered me or my roommate. The kitchen was cheap but our apt was roomy and comfortable. The older residents are a little unforgiving though and like to complain about "wild parties" and such but they are exaggerating. If you live near one of those tennents make sure to not have people on your balcony past 11 or they will file a noise compliant. I had 2 filed against me and I was never even loud. Apparently sitting on your balcony taking in the lovely view of the city andd talking with friends is a crime.

I am a 4 year resident and I have to agree with a few of the more negative comments. This is definitely not an adult community. There are parties all the time, sometimes waking me and my wife up at 3AM in the morning. As someone stated earlier there actually is a trust fund baby living next door who does this. Last week the people across the parking lot, (now mind you this unit is at least 100 feet away from my balcony) woke me up at 2:30AM on a Wednesday having a party on their balcony. Everything implied about this being actually a college dorm is true. (While there may be a building or two that may not experience these things the majority do.) The current apartment manager is inept and I find infuriating, often quick to offer excuses or blame others. The previous apartment manager (who is now currently managing the Vistas at Villa De Norte) was exceptional. I hope to move into that sister property when my lease expires.

Worst year of my life, no joke
Worst time ever, in an apt. They were very rude to me, and would not help me for anything. I was never a day late on rent and always a good tenant, but was treated like they did not want me there and wanted me to leave. Not to mention all the noise here, it is horrible. I would always be awakened by a party going on in the parking lot at 2 in the morning. Loud trucks, loud music, just rediculous. Don't waste your time, I read these horror stories before I moved in and now look at me!!
