My husband and I moved here from Yorktown, VA in July 2014. We lived in 2 apartments in Yorktown, but THIS apartment is so superior to either of them we wish we had moved sooner. The office staff has always been very helpful and friendly, never hesitating to address any requests and ensure we are happy with the results. We love our apartment and plan on remaining here indefinitely. The maintenance staff is very responsive to any issues, and they are resolved in a timely manner. They also have a housekeeping staff that always keep the common areas in the building clean as well as the laundry rooms. ALL of the staff of the apartment complex greet you with a smile and cheerful hello. They have recently upgraded the grounds and they are always kept trim and rubbish free. Overall, we are very pleased with our living arrangement, and would recommend this complex to anyone who is looking for a pleasant place to live.

My family moved here in December from a complex that did nothing to make your living arrangement a good one. Here in Conway you are treated with respect and they show that you mean something to them. The apartments are maintained to a high standard and the outside is beautiful. I wish I moved here along time ago. The staff in the office and maintenance are wiling to help there clients as quickly as they can. I give this company as the best complex in Williamsburg. Please come and see what you are missing

WARNING SUM LORDS!!!!! This is the worst apartment complex EVER!!!! Smiling faces to get you in the doors. But once your in your STUCK. They never fix any maintenance issues. There is only 1 laundry faculity that works. All the way in the front of the entrence. But working is a loose statement. If you enjoy spending $5.00 a load to wash. Also the property management agents are rude and could careless once you've signed your lease. The walls are PAPER THIN. You can hear everything going on above , below, or next door. I have heard my neighbors, fight, pee in the bathroom, shower, have adult relations *hint* hint, or think the kids are coming through the floor, not to mention dogs barking. PARKING sucks. I can never find a spot near my building and have to park far away from my building. There are hidden fees for everything. Your rent is raised at least $50 after it is up. There is no month to month and you have to give a 2 month notice before you can leave. Oh yeah did I say management doesnt care and they suck! The pool is a joke. You are swimming behind the office so you have to look at the smug property managers. STAY AWAY!!!!

Moved in to Conway with a friend while I studied at W&M. I have no complaints and nothing but good things to say about my experience. Maintenance is on point and things were done when they needed to be. People in the office were always friendly. I haven't had any issues with the area. Good place to live. Good experience for my first apartment and I'll tell friends who are looking.

I moved in a couple years back after being pcs'ed to the area. The office staff was always friendly and addressed problems quick. Maintenance was the same. No complaints on their part. The only downside I would say is sometimes you can hear your neighbors but that's pretty standard for most of the apartments I've lived in. Overall I like the place and am bummed I got orders to another state. I'll recommend to any friends.

so I am not 100% happy with my time spent at conway gardens. My husband and I had to move in to this complex blindly. so when I first moved in I thought, ok descent amount of space, and seemed clean. But when I entered the bathroom there is no electrical outlet in the bathroom and it is so small that the door to the bathroom almost touches the front of the toliet. The landscape seemed ok at first but has gotten worse over time. most of the grass is dead and when they use the water sprinklers it just makes a muddy mess. And recently there is this huge black tubing coming from the rain gutters covering a lot of the area around the back apartments (so people who visit the apartment complex do not see it I guess). Also there is always food and trash on the ground. Some of the maintenance workers are practically worthless. They usually have to be called several times and require more than one visit on average. They are also not quick to fix anything. The people in the office are mediocre. The head office person is especial rude most of the time. Face to Face she is fake nice and on the phone she is usually flat out rude. Some of the other office individuals are pleasant enough but sometimes they are not sure how to help. You can also tell that they do not change the carpet very often. They just Shampoo it. It had dried paint all around the edging and it is pulled up a little around the kitchen entrance and the major walk ways are very worn. The main door into the apartment does not match with the frame so there is about an inch gap between the door and the frame. The screen door to the balcony is also stuck and is hard to move without removing it from the frame. There is one small laudry facility (with 4 washers and 4 dryers). when we first moved in there where three but about a few months later there was only one (and it is still that way, they clame they are fixing them buts its been over a year and I haven't seen any improvements). Also the one laundry facility they do have is used by the individuals in the marlboro complex next door all the time, which it is not how it is suppose to be. We also had several incidences where there was poop all over ( I literally mean some kind of animal feces). It was in the washers, the dryers, all over the floor. It was disgusting. It took us complaining three different times before they finally did something about it happening. Also there must have been water damage near the kitchen because you can see where they patched it in the ceiling but the floor board under that same area is sunken in. The maintenance is not done by professinals. All in all I would not recommend these apartments to anyone.

First of all, Leasing office has hired someone who gives wrong information to you first time and then tells you that I'm sorry what i said is wrong and this is the fact i confirmed with my manager. second after moving to apartment on first day shower was leaking and when i called they said there is no way that it's leaking, we have checked it before. That means she was saying that i'm liar. Maintenance guy came and he found faulty shower and he replaced it. Overall apartments are good but bad response from leasing office and stupid answers from them makes bad image about them. lets see how long i'm able to bare this type of issues.

I had a 2 bedroom apt. here for the year I lived in Williamsburg and really liked Conway Gardens. It was very close to the WM campus, but not so close to the campus that the apartments were only occupied by undergrads (Conway Gardens had a good mix of young/old, single/family, etc.). I found the main office to be very responsive and when I had what were minor service requests, their maintenance people always came by the same day. I could always find a parking space, but usually had to walk a bit from my apartment on late non-school nights and by the end of the spring (end of college?). The walls are a bit on the thin side, though I happened to not have particularly noisy neighbors (what I would consider average noise insulation for an apartment). The neighborhood itself IS pretty quiet. One thing that really impressed me was that most of the buildings in the complex were made in the 1960s but looked like they were newer - meaning these apartments had been well maintained, a sign of continuously competent management. The staff at Conway really is what sets it apart from other residences. My biggest criticism (and this may have changed) is that two of the three complex laundry rooms were closed indefinitely for renovation/repair while I was there which meant there was a point this spring in which 4 washers and 4 driers were available for the whole complex (note: washer-drier units can be rented out to individual units so not everyone used laundry rooms).

Of the many apartments I have lived in over the years I have never experienced the problems I am dealing with at Conway. In the mere six months that I have lived at Conway here are a few of the problems I have encountered: -garbage disposal breaking multiple times -cockroaches in the apartment -water damage from the upstairs apartment that lead to discoloration of the walls & large chunks of sheetrock that had to be removed from my dining/living room -dishwasher breaking -doors coming off of their hinges -approximately once a week the plumbing in the building was turned off due to an "emergency" -assigned parking does not exist and if you arrive home after 8pm good luck finding a spot -cheap blinds and faucet fixtures that frequently break I am giving the apartment complex two stars instead of one due to the fact that even though the maintenance staff does shoddy work they can be quick to respond and I have found the office staff generally friendly and professional. However I would not recommend Conway. It can be an attractive price considering how expensive the Williamsburg rental market is but any apartment here is way overpriced considering the nightmare of maintenance issues you will have to deal with.

Move-out day was the best day of my life. I lived here for a few years, and honestly, I would rather live with my insane in-laws in a barn. The noise here is a big issue. I could hear EVERYTHING my neighbors were doing. I could tell when they had a bad day, good day, a cold, and I could hear them talking word-for-word. People often walk outside by my windows and they are always so loud. People will mess around and honk at each other in the parking lot, blast their music, and yell at each other. Once I saw a tiny fender-bender in the parking lot and one guy punched one of my neighbor's in the face. I found out that a registered sex offender lives in the complex. I saw one of my neighbors get arrested once, I have no clue what for. Police are constantly checking up on the area. I didn't feel very safe here. There are a lot of college students who treat the area like a party dorm. Once, someone went into my car, I don't think they stole anything, but they did put their cigarette out on my driver's seat. How nice. Maintenance is a big issue. I'm not really sure what they do all day. I had issues with leaking ceilings 4 times. Yes, 4 times. Each time, they said "Someone will be over soon" and I didn't see anyone for 2 whole days. However, I did see the maintenance workers outside, talking, and attempting to do donuts in their golf carts. When they do fix something for you, it is poorly done. They just look at it and go, "uh...yeah...I'm just gonna patch it or something," and do a quick-fix that soon stops working. The appliances are painfully cheap and are impossible to clean and keep clean. My front door was not sealed very well and their was a terrible draft. If anyone in your building smokes, you will be able to smell it, and it's horrible. The paint is so cheap. I put a calendar on my wall when I first moved in, and when I went to put up a new one, the paint was brown where my calender was. Don't push any furniture too close to the wall. The laundry facilities are crap and they charge you so much. My walls and ceiling had cracks in them. One of my bedroom doors, my bathroom door, and closet door wouldn't shut all the way, the wood was warped or something. The people who come to do the landscaping are so horrible. They spend hours and hours just blowing dirt around and onto people's cars. Also, there were always lots of spelling errors in the little fliers the management sent out. That's not a big deal, but...there are spelling and grammatical errors in the lease. Like, c'mon. Under breed restrictions for dogs (which are unfair and perpetuate harmful stereotypes, by the way) they say "no chows". Well, there is no dog called a chow. There is a chow chow, but no chow. They also say "no rottweiler's". Rottweiler's what? Let's learn how to use apostrophes, shall we? In a lease, they need to get it together. If I wanted, I could have had a chow chow in my apartment just because someone made it possible for a loophole. All in all, this place is one of the worst places to live in Williamsburg that is not income restricted. The staff is incompetent, the fixtures are crap, and you will never get a wink of sleep. Spend a little more money and get a nicer place.

I have lived in a nice 2BR on the bottom floor since Feb 2012. So far I have enjoyed it.I have had wonderful responses from Maintenance when needed. My section is quiet outside and for the most part quiet inside. The only complaint I would have is that the upstairs apartments have wooden floors and creak terribly whenever someone walks around. It is very loud. Fortunately my neighbor has a similar schedule and doesn't keep me up at night. Parking is a bit of an issue if you come in after 8PM. The office staff are very friendly and professional. I don't consider the $860 to be high for the area. Utilities are not bad. I would recommend the apartments.

My experience at Conway was less than ideal. I paid 815 a month and another 30 dollars for administration garbage, etc. With electric/cable/gas the bill easily was 1000 dollars. For a 1,000 dollars in williamsburg you can do much better. Most of the people I know paid less than 700 a month. The big problem is the noise levels. I could hear EVERYTHING my neighbors did. My neighbor had a kid and dog... and it was always loud. In fact it was unbearably loud and I considered staying in a hotel during test days. The worst is "nighttime noises" it was pretty gross to say the least. You can hear all kind of things.... My schedule was go to school at 8. Each lunch and dinner at school (since if I went back it would be loud and I couldn't get work done). The person living below me worked at home. I would come back at 11 to take a shower and go to sleep. The big problem was the neighbor downstairs had her t.v. on all the time. And because the walls are paper thin you can hear everything.... I've lived in many major cities and the noise level at Conway was the loudest I'm now far away from that place so I get excellent sleep. But at Conway I would be lucky to get 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I had bouts of insomnia and literally broke down crying some nights because I was so tired. I had two friends live in Conway and neither would rave about it. To repeat it is VERY expensive for the area 815 plus cable plus eletric plus various other Conway fees means you are easily paying 1000 dollars a month. It also is VERY VERY VERY noisy.

Ok conway gardens has to be the worse apartment complex I have ever had to stay. 1. Office staff is nice to you and friendly and after you have signed your lease they turn on you. No help rude , unprofessional , talk to you like trash and will even threaten to cause bodily harm to you. Very agressive manager (Tonya) Dont trust her at all. 2.Apartments - washer and dry connections yes to your sink all that water used to wash your clothes goes into your sink . Cant do anything in the kitchen if you have to wash clothes, and only a small load at that a very small load. If you have a bad back dont bother cause your not gonna want to have to roll the washer to the sink everytime you want to wash your clothes. 3. Kitchen if your apartment is in the front above the garbage cans start making friends with the ants that will invade your living room kitchen and carpet. You will love the "waterbugs" thats what they call them at the front office huge bugs that get into your apartment as if they pay rent. 4. Bathroom if you have allergies its not safe. Mold is everywhere in in the stopper of the tub. You will be told that it is because of the moisture in the BATHroom from you taking a SHOWER in the BATHroom. Everything is gonna be your fault so get use to it . Your tub will start to fall apart little at first then before you know it ,it looks disgusting around the etub from the cheap caulking that they put aroung the tub. They dont scrap around the tub or kill the mold they just simply cover it. Water will leak around your tub and get underneath the floor floating floor anyone? 5. Rooms although they are not a bad size upkeep is the word. The apartment had cracks on the wall from the ceiling going down from where it looked like the foundation was getting weak and instead of them fixing it they just painted over it as usual. Get to know your neighbors very well cause if you are on the bottom you will hear them. You will hear when they are walking back and forth up and down the halls , you will hear when they use the bathrooms, when they are happy and when they are having a lovers spat. You will hear when they makeup everything from the beginning to the end every moan every squeak in that bed you will hear. Its especially great when you have had a long day at work and your tired and right when you get in the bed squeak squeak. No sleep for you tonight. 6. Parking if you want to be near your building get home before 7 and dont leave for the rest of the evening . All your parking spaces will go to guest . There is no assigned parking or at the very least a specific apot for guest. If the management doesnt care for you and your car has had a flat tire for less than 24 hours it will be slapped with a signed that says it will be towed for 125.00 and 35 per day storage fee but your neighbors car hasn't moved in 4 months and its still sitting there with no stickers The company the runs the complex S.L.Nusbaum what a great company . They are all the same rude, nasty, incompentent ,unprofessional, and no respect for the residents company. For the money that you spend and to get nothing but rude UNPROFESSIONAL and MANAGEMENT from TONYA is completly unexceptable and something must be done.

Great location, great service from staff
We've lived in Conway for more than five years. The location is convenient, the square footage the best bang for buck in Williamsburg, and the office and maintenance staff are on site, quick to respond, and very friendly.

My First Home...Away from Home!
My job took me to Williamsburg, VA and I needed living arrangements quick! I took advise from others and drove around the town to visit properties, complexes, and homes. In a matter of minutes after meeting the staff at Conway Gardens, I signed the lease. They were professional and friendly. They had prided themselves in the work that was being completed, and the up-keep that they mastered within the "older" buildings. I lived in a building with young families, couples, students, and retirees. We were our own community within the bigger community of Conway Garden. I had very few problems, however, the Conway Garden staff was always on time and curtious with my schedule. Now that my job took me to another city...I miss my apartment at Conway!

NO.
First of all: IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE OFFICE STAFF WRITE REVIEWS FOR THIS PLACE. Which is against this website's terms of use. Office girls, this makes me trust you a lot less. I realize that you have a job to do, and you have to bring in new people, but why don't you try different tactics--honest tactics, perhaps? My biggest issue with this place--besides the insanely high rent--is that my bathroom is horrible. There is hair in the paint on the walls and ceiling, it's disgusting. Whoever painted my bathroom must have done it in ten minutes. I compare my bathtub to a Dixie cup. It's so cheap and impossible to keep clean. My kitchen only has one drawer, for some stupid reason. I can hear everything my neighbors do. The squeaky floors don't help. No recycling program=more waste. If there was recycling here I would produce half as much garbage. It's annoying to have to take my trash out twice a day. The layout is kind of weird. Whenever people come over, they knock on my sliding glass door, thinking that is the front door. I realize this place is old, but I still think it needs work. The rent is way too high for what it is.

Come on over and join us!!! Yeah BUDDY!! *Pauly D Voice*
In the 3 years that I have lived in Conway Gardens I have had nothing but pleasant experiences. I got a great price right from the beginning and my building and neighbors were polite and courteous. The Office staff and maintenance crew have always taken care of what I needed done on the same day as requested. The grounds are kept up at least twice a week if not more by a lawn care service and the maintenance staff can be seen out every morning cleaning up and picking up any trash before the office is even open. When I wanted to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment, the staff even worked with me to get it done seamlessly and on a timely manner. They even let me move in and trade everything out before my old lease was even up. All in all I'd say this is a great place to live and is also a convenient location to William and Mary, Downtown Williamsburg, and shopping centers!

Ideal Location
I currently live at Conway, and do not understand the previous reviews state a downside to the living experience of the community. Yes, the property is older, but is very well taken care of. I feel my requests have been completed in a timely manner in the past, and personally have never had a conflict with anyone in the main office. The ladies in the office all seem more than willing to help me when needed. I am a student and plan on living at Conway Gardens for another 2 years. I would, and do often recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and ideal place to live in Williamsburg.

My one year review
After living in Conway Gardens for a year - I find it to be comfortable. The children are a little loud, but that's only for a couple of hours after school. I go in and out alone at dark and always feel safe because of the lighting. I have not heard of any crime here. There may be some, but I am not aware of any. The maintenance staff is very friendly and keep the grounds clean. There is a lawncare service that is present at least three times a week maintaining the lawn and shrubs. I think it is well maintained. I find the office staff to be very friendly and helpful. I have found the entire staff to be helpful and always able to answer my questions or explain anything regarding the rent I may be confused about. My only personal complaint is that there are too many big dogs.

kudos to the conway gardens staff
Two years ago I was recommended to live here by a friend. I'm still here and plan on staying. The management team has always been professional, caring, and prompt to solve any problems or answer any questions that I might have had during my years. I should have given this apartment complex personnel kudos within my first several months of moving in here, not two years later. Thanks everyone.

Don't Move here!
Please don't move here. The staff are nice to you until you sign the lease then they become very nasty. Especially the lady name ----------. She very unprofessional and rule. I've never meant anyone in my entire life as nasty as her. The place is very old. The ceiling is cracking, when it rains the ceiling and window leak. I had to wait 7 days before they fixed my toilet. My refrigerator has been leaking since March and they have yet to come fix. Worse of all the have these huge bugs that look like roaches on steroids, management calls them water bugs they are everywhere in your apartment, in the foyer, and outside. They crawl on you at night. My husband and I have been woken up them crawling on us. No one should have to fight a huge bug at 2am. We told ---------- and the manager ----- about this they well we don't spray. Thats the tenants responsibility. That was it.We are now moving out.

6 months After Moving out, A Lien was put on my Account.
I moved into Olde Jamestowne in October of 2010. They had a great deal on the room and only a $100 Deposit. The three months i lived there was ok. I was 22 and I didn't mind the little things. Those being: - Paper Thin Walls - Sink Backing up in Bathroom - Electrical Problems with the Outdoor Lights - A single Loud Hating and Air Conditioning Unit Everything was great for me. Until my father died in December of 2010. I informed the Main office that i had to move out to handle his estate in Nebraska. They said that everything would be ok and that they had to sell the apt if i didn't want it anymore and the most I would pay would be two months rent. (60 day period for breaking a lease) so, within a week, I packed everything up, signed the release papers, gave them my forwarding address, and went back to the mid-west. 6 Months later, conveniently nearing the end of handling my father s estate, My account had a lien on it, meaning it was frozen. I called the creditors and it turns out the apt charge late fees, court and attorney fees, gave it to Results Unlimited Creditors, and they tacks on another amount of fees that built basically up to $1,200. After Six months, I received no notification that I even owed them money. After calling three diffrent places, (the attorney's office, the creditors, and finally Olde Jamestowne{Conway Gardens},) They told me that they sent bills and notifications, TO MY PREVIOUS ADDRESS! The apt I lived in before moving into Olde Jamestowne. This was simply atrocious. I calmly asked everyone what we could do because this was all based off a mistake and literally every one passed me on to the next person while shrugging their shoulders. Olde Jamestowne Kept saying they'd email me my exiting forms so I could Prove to them that I gave them a Forwarding Address and that they were sending to the wrong place. Eventually, after several calls and conversations of them saying they would email it to me, they gave me to a low end assistant who gave me the number to RESULTS UNLIMITED AGAIN! They said they were busy... too busy to man up and say they made a mistake. After explaining this, very calmly, to Results Unlimited, I was able to work out a deal where I would only be paying them a little more than what I owed initially. One of the biggest Things about this is I would have been more than willing to pay the rent that I was never late on by the way... This is a perfect example of Carelessness and, if you ask me, smells a little bit like GREED. So, If you do end up living here or do already, Make sure you save every piece of paper they give you and make sure everything they say they will or will not do for or with you, is IN WRITING. - C -

Not bad at all....
You could do worse in Williamsburg- most of the apts here are OLD. Conway is no exception, but it seemed safe and decently kept up with. I did have a big leak in my sink, but they fixed it within a day. I would recommend them, unless you are willing to pay over a grand for a smaller but newer place. Word to the wise- don't cross that lady in the main office. I have seen her ----- some folk out but she always friendly to me.

Incredible Value!
I just graduated from W&M, and am sad to leave Conway Garden! I lived here for 3 of the past 4 years and loved it! You get incredible "bang for your buck"- a very well maintained complex, spacious apartments and a friendly maintenance and front office staff. Plus, if you're a student, it's like a mile from campus- I walked to class in the spring! Don't let the negative reviews spook you- I would live here again in a heartbeat.
