The apartments at The Shay are very spacious and clean. The appliances are up to date and everything is rennovated. A couple cons pertaining to the appliances and renovations are that the refrigerator lacks sufficient freezer space, and the cabinets are so high that they are not easily accessible!

I moved into the complex, due to the location and trying to save money on commuting. I love the modern layout of the complex but felt like my move was a little chaotic. I had no idea where I needed to go in order to get to the freight elevator from the alley way. My lease wasn't ready, and took nearly an hour to have everything ready for my movers who were being paid by hour to begin moving me in. I understand things can get a little hectic, but I wished it would have been a little easier and welcoming when I moved in.

It has been great. The staff are frendly and the amenities are incredible. The location is perfect; near restaurants and bars, and also close to the metro. The only downside is that parking can be hard to find sometimes, and the bars in the area can be loud.

The Shay is a lovely building with very kind staff. The compass coffee in the morning is an excellent perk. I wish we got two key fobs instead of just one or that buying an extra was more affordable. The amenities are great and I love that the pool is open year round. Very happy I made the move to the Shay

The front desk staff is delightful and the maintenance team is very trustworthy. The units are new and updated, with big windows and lots of light. However, the amenities are sub-par for the price and neighborhood, the leasing office is nothing less than a headache to deal with, and most concerning, the area is seeing an increase in crime. There are better apartments than this

I did not have an appointment for viewing but Saudia was quick to work with me to find an apartment home that fit my needs and showed me a comparable unit. She worked hard to make sure that any questions I had were answered and that when I left I was satisfied.

First, location, the building is on a fun, busy street surrounded by shops and restaurants. For those looking to live in the heart of downtown, this is the perfect place. Second, the amenities are top notch and the staff hosts events each month where residents can come together for food or drinks. I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can head to the pool or to the roof for a cookout. Third, the apartments are all very modern and sleek and it makes coming home a treat. I was lucky to have found this jewel after visiting almost a dozen properties, and I still believe I made the best decision.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Saudia and Chase are great leasing agents and go above and beyond to ensure tenants at the community are comfortable. It's not common to find staff that really invest in their tenants, and I have rented from a lot of communities over the years. The unit I am renting is also beautiful and I love it!

Great community, very welcoming staff, great maintenance for the amenities. However, residents are far less warm and I highly recommend more social events to break the ice. The rent needs to be lower as the prices can be inflated in comparison to other neighboring buildings. Moreover, the front desk needs to be more flexible with guest entrances.

I recently moved into this apartment building and have loved every minute of it so far! The move-in process was significantly easier than I have experienced with other buildings. I chose this building for the aesthetics, amenities, location, and price. The units are clean and modern with beautiful finishes. The community and amenities are excellent as well and offer everything that is standard and more. The location is exactly where I wanted to be and the price-per-sqft ratio is one of the best I was able to find in the city.

Renter Beware. My time here as a renter has by far been my worst experience as a D.C. resident. The management is consistently inattentive to residents needs and down right rude when they are questioned as to updates on requests they have received from tenants. The management, and staff for that matter, are unprofessional, lazy, and aloof to residents concerns to say the least. With so many options to live in D.C., The Shay is not worth the headache, nor bad attitudes you are bound to experience at this overpriced apartment complex from the leasing staff.

Overall great experience. I have had some issues with management due to poor coordination between employees concerning move-in rent concessions. These issues have led to me receiving letters threatening eviction, when in fact the building owed me money. In the end, a senior member of the staff was gracious and helpful in sorting it out.

I have lived in The Shay since it opened in 2015, now on my third lease. It has been seamless. I've never had any serious issues with the unit, and minor issues are fixed almost immediately. The concierge, facilities staff, and the property manager (Aqua!!!) make this the community and home that it is. I would recommend without reservation.

Not only are the apartments at The Shay tastefully designed and incredibly spacious, but The Shay provides residents with a true sense of community living. Through the various organized events for residents, The Shay has made moving cross-country much more comfortable.
