It has been a pleasure living at the Shay. I just happily renewed my lease. I would recommend the Shay to friends and family for sure. It is a little pricey but that's the nature of DC these days. Keep up the good work Shay and Gates Hudson.

I've had nothing but professional and courteous interactions with both the residents and staff. Staff is warm, welcoming and very accommodating. Fellow residents are mostly young professionals who make great neighbors and some have even become good friends.

Staff were attentive; Apt was in condition I expected to find it. Mailbox had problems and some other details were not quite explained, but after my inquiry all things resolved. I would 100% choose this place, again. I also was impressed that the building was willing to do a shorter term lease (7 months) and still honor some of the deals.

The shay has many unique floor plans and all of the modern amenities you would want. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The parking garage(s) are a problem the one is broken with the gate up and has been that way for several months so there are a lot of unauthorized vehicles. Sound transfer between floors can be loud and certain units in the building you can still hear the street noise and or music playing. Overall its a very nice place to live, expensive... but nice.

People are friendly and the staff are very helpful. The location is very convenient to restaurants and shops. My actual apartment is on U Street and it can be noisy but that is city living and to be expected.

Very clean! Very safe and up to date with today's standard of living for an apt. Parking Garage is easy to get in and out of. Great building for small dogs. Amazing outdoor space for nice days. Bathrooms are large too.

I've lived in the Shay for just under 2 years and will most likely renew my lease again when it's up. The amenities (pool, gym, common areas) are some of the best I've seen in D.C. After some initial opening pains, the staff has really hit a nice stride. The building is safe and service requests are usually handled same/next day. The location can't be beat, and the tenets in the building are a nice mix of young-middle aged professionals. Fun environment without being too over the top.

I just moved into the Shay and have been very satisfied with my apartment and the staff. They have been friendly, professional and helpful during my move in process. Many of the staff know the residents and apartments are uniquely designed. The only complaint I have is the lack of storage space in the apartment.

This is the only apartment building I visited where the front desk staff was actually helpful, polite, and friendly. The entire process was seamless from inquiry through move-in. Even better, the building is spotless, modern, and steps away from nightlife, restaurants, and retail.

After a few months, I realize that the management staff here is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Repairs take forever, attention to detail is absent, rent is above market, and chicken wings are the only apparent option at events. If you like a taste of rundown, unprofessional, poorly managed apartments, this is your place! Check out all other alternatives!!

The move-in process was easy and convenient. Everyone was incredibly nice and accommodating. The apartment itself is lovely, with large windows, lovely floors, and spacious closets. The common spaces and amenities are also wonderful. I'm very happy with my new home!

So far, so good. Love the apartment itself. Have had some maintenance issues that have not been resolved on the first try, and there is a lot of noise from the upstairs neighbors. Overall, however... I love the Shay and would highly recommend it.

The Shay is in the middle of the Historical U Street / Shaw neighborhood. At its corner anyone can have access to farmers markets, Howard University, U St nightlife, quiet residential atmosphere, and access to any part of the DC city by bus / metro / or steady output of taxi/ubers. I really feel fortunate being a resident at The Shay, spoiled with great staff, great location, and wonderful experiences year around.

I love the shay. Everything I need is close by and the grounds and amenities are great. My only disappointment upon moving in was that the pool is so shallow, but that isn't such a big deal considering the other advantages of living here. I enjoy the building events because they allow me to meet my neighbors and make friends.

Since moving into Ths Shay, I have really enjoy living in the complex. I really enjoy having great shops and restaurants within walking distance of the complex. The staff is very friendly and welcoming to the community. I really like having a concierge on duty 24/7.

Great staff and great location. The pool and amenities are nice. The building could have better soundproofing, pretty much its only downfall. There were some issues with the elevators, but those have been addressed.

I am very happy with the Shay, great location, nice building and amenities, helpful staff, and it is quieter than I expected at night. Just the rent is a bit expensive; however this is average price for that area. I would definitely recommend if you are the kind of person who likes to go out and socialize.
