Stay away from Newport Apartments!!!
STAY AWAY FROM NEWPORT APARTMENTS!!!! Newport Apartments is the worst apartment complex after new property management took over recently. Was in complex for 3.5 years total and lease was up in August 2023 and waited for renewal lease to sign. Newport staff never responded with new lease to sign and my renewal date came and passed. Now I'm being charged a $1947 "insufficient notice" for not notifying them I was moving, but THE OFFICE MANAGER NEVER RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS asking where my lease is to sign at least 3-4 different times within a week and a half. Save yourself the time to try to get any resolution with them and money because you'll be paying for a roach infested over-priced apartment.

This apartment complex is just ok....Not fabulous, and I've seen worse. What makes it so bad is that you can tell management (and therefore maintenance) just doesn't care. When I moved into my unit, the cabinets and my kitchen counter were covered in a greasy film--I used a Clorox wipe and it was black. Obviously, no one had cleaned. There are gaping holes in the wall, and where there aren't holes, there are incredibly crappy patch jobs. The apartments themselves are extremely old, built in 1986, and no updates have been done since then, except installing cheap wood laminate in the wet areas. Wear shoes in the house, because the tracks for their 30-year-old bifold doors will bruise your feet. The windows are single-pane, so be prepared for your power bill to jump up. The front doors have never been replaced, so your door will probably hang crooked and let light from the breezeway, and bugs, in...and cold air out. The only fan in the entire unit is in the "master" bedroom (its smaller than the other bedroom, but has its own bathroom). When the floor updates were done, they didn't bother replacing the plastic baseboards since the new profile was lower--I just have 1/4" gaps between the wall and the baseboard. Could they have fixed it? If they cared, definitely. The countertops do not have rounded edges, just rough straight cuts. Pure laziness. The toilet in one of the bathrooms is very obviously crooked. Who caulked it like that was just so beyond lazy, there isn't a word. As far as the neighborhood itself, it's old just like the buildings. Nothing magical, but could be worse. Hillsborough Avenue is pretty loud at basically all hours of the day/night, but if you live on the interior that's not an issue. There are ducks, but I don't mind them. Parking is more than adequate. I do have one issue with the neighbor on the other side of my wall--about once a week they listen to EDM at max volume in the middle of the day for hours, but everyone else seems nice.

The Worst Apartment complex in Town N Country part of Tampa FL. Only come here If you want......... Apartment infested with spiders. (spent $200 +, never able to fix the issue) Maintenance takes weeks to respond to requests Many times with no hot water in apartment (on wedding anniversary...very bad) The worst, no communicative Rental Office I've seen in 20 years of apartment rentals. Lived across from drug dealer which made life uncomfortable......Yes, that kind of apartment complex So if you want these things...Then Newport apartments are for you. If you see a bright to dull organge complex on West Hillsborough ave in Tampa.....Just keep driving

Great staff Dayani and Alicia really care about you feeling at home. I rented this apartment because it was minutes away from work. A little bit far from my family, but it was welcoming the way they treated me and how nice my apartment was. The view to the lake is spectacular. I recommend moving to this aapartments. I love it here.

7/7/18 They stole my $200 application and administration fee. I put down $200 online instantly to save the apartment. Guess what an hour later I stopped by the office and told them to cancel my application. Been waiting 2 weeks for a refund. I can only imagine the problems one could have living in Newport apts if they start by stealing your administration and application fee. Check there GOOGLE REVIEWS. Found a better place with Camden properties. I still want my $200 back!

I've been dealing with a massive bathroom leak and mold in my apartment for a little while now. Repeated calls to the front office and not once has anyone lifted a tool to fix it. Sure, my boyfriend and I have called off of work to have maintenance come by but every time all they seem to do is "asses" the damage. 3 Times now has someone come by to see the damage and not once has anyone attempted to actually fix it. And now they're trying to blame us saying we've known about this issue, why would I WANT to live in a moldy apartment? Why, if I knew this was going one, would I subject myself and my family to possible health issues? I've spoken with the neighbors and they've had a mold issue as well. This whole complex should be condemned. In addition, new tenants have moved into the building and they drink in the parking lot all day, gettingso intoxicated that they urinate in the parking lot and have screaming fights in the hallways, they spray painted the door of the neighbor across the way from me and broken the hallway light more than once. Children run around and break into vacant apartments and the laundry facility and use them as play rooms. The front office has been called on multiple occasions and not once has anyone done a thing about it. The management company of the complex decided to spruce up the place a bit and bought a fountain for the pond in the center of the complex, never mind the whole place needs a paint job.

I've been living here for about three years and it has progressively gotten worse as time has gone on. This place can't keep employees... the office has gone through 3 managers and 6 or 7 office workers have come and gone. Maintenance is the same - the entire team quit and they've been coming and going ever since. The newest manager ------ is awful. We've had an ongoing noise complaint with the apartment above is for over a year now and at this point she doesn't apologize that this hasn't been resolved.... she's told us now that we are the problem. Their only solution is telling us to call the police. The office worker ------ told us that our neighbors can leave their door open with their music blasting all day until 10pm if they want... according to the lease that's not true and the police have also told me there is no longer a specific time and that noise disturbances like that are never acceptable. ------ told us that if we have an issue we should stop signing the lease. Nice huh? On one occasion we got locked out of our apartment because the lock was broken… Which is something we had been complaining about to the office for months. We had a key with us but it wouldn't unlock the lock. It was 95 degrees when it happened and the staff were gone for the day, so we had to leave a message for the on-call person. When he arrived he wouldn't help us get in bc he was helping make someone else's AC cooler.. priorities? We are locked outside in 95 degree heat and that person is inside with AC that just isn't cool enough. When we asked if he could let us into our apartment first, he told us that being locked out is not an emergency(even though according to the office voicemail it is) and he could leave us outside all weekend if he wanted to. Super long post but I could keep going. The place is getting dirtier and dirtier bc they've clearly stopped caring... the bugs are out of control... all systems (AC/heating etc) are so old but they're too cheap to replace anything.. us and our neighbors have had expensive things stolen out of our cars bc there is NO security.. not even cameras. And don't bother trying to call the company that owns the property to help... it sends you to a google voice voicemail. I've left 3 messages for the area manager and have not heard back. The only pro to this place is the location... it's the only reason we've stayed as long as we have. But we'll be getting out as soon as we can. You don't want to live here... I promise you.

Very nice experience here. Community is very safe and for the most part very quiet. People are very friendly and courteous. Office staff is always nice and helpful. Maintenance workers are great. I once had a lock issue and could not lock my apartment and had to be at work. Maintenance worker dropped everything and fixed it and I could be on my way to work on time worry free. Landscape is very well kept. If you are a nature lover there is a huge variety and array of birds. Its also conveniently close to many shopping plazas.

I moved to Florida 6 years ago and didnt quite know where I wanted to live. I knew a little bit of what I was looking for but was not familiar with any of the neighborhoods. The first two months I stayed in an area closed to the airport and liked it so I drove around to see what properties were affordable in the area. Newport Apartments was one of three properties that was exactly what I was looking for. There was a nice gentleman, Tristan at Newport who I talked to in the leasing office who took my application and showed me three apartments that would be available when I needed one. Tristan was great, but he is no longer working at Newport. He is who got me into Newport, now 6 years later I'm still at Newport and the reason for that is the other person, the property manager of Newport, Tara Queen. Employees at the leasing office have come and gone and Ive seen the property go through some changes but Tara has been there to make sure the residence have been taken care of through all the ups and downs. She is very professional, courteous, respectful and most important she cares. I am very happy living at Newport Apartments, I feel safe, the property is very quiet and maintenance is good about keeping the property maintained and clean. Any time I have had a problem it has been taken care of as quickly as possible. My experience has been very pleasant and I consider Newport Apartments home.

A family member moved into Newport Apts and recommended that we look for an apartment here as well. When I asked her why she said that the management staff was friendly, helpful, kind and made her & her bf feel right at home. This was exactly the kind of experience that we have been searching for. We've been to other rental properties where this wasn't the case. I came in without an appointment and was greeted warmly by the staff and within a short time was shown an apartment. The apartments all look well maintained and that's a big plus when searching for your future home. The pool area makes it seem like we'd be living like we're on vacation, How fun is that! Our family members apartment is really nice inside and they love living there.

I've been here 3 months & its so peaceful. I haven't had any issues, they keep the property maintained, I never hear my neighbors but in passing everyone is friendly, even the post lady is nice! My favorite leasing agent, while they are all super helpful, is Angel. He's super down to earth, reliable and he always handles any situation I have- he's my main go to at the office; anything I've ever needed he has made sure it was done. Maintenance is also helpful and kind. Only cons on the property, at least in the part I live in, is limited parking depending on the time of night and the entrance off of Hillsborough isn't well lit so be careful pulling in at night, it's hard to tell where the opening is in the road for the parking lot.

I just wanted to take a moment to praise Tara Paschall! Im moving all the way from Baltimore, MD and have been very overwhelmed with what is such a big move. Like many I searched around, a few places stuck out to me but I decided on Newport Apartments. Yes they have a beautiful landscape from the pictures, great pricing but mainly the reason I picked Newport Apartments is because TARA made me feel so at ease and well like I was already at home! I work in the industry and deal with customer satisfaction on a daily basis, and was blown away with her warm, hospitable and compassionate demeanor. She helped me every single step of the way! Im so excited to be a part of this community and wanted Tara to get the praise that she deserved. Sincerely, Your newest neighbor, Ashlee Breneman

I have lived at this complex in 2015 and 2016. I think the management people are really very understanding and listen to concerns. Tara, Angel and Diana are very helpful and kind. Overall this place is quiet and clean. It is pet friendly so expect to see cats and dogs. But the pets are well cared for by most residents here. The rent is reasonable for the nice area that these apartments are located in.

I have lived here for a little over a year, and the staff in the front office has always been understanding, very professional, and always with a smile on their faces. When something is wrong in my apartment, it is fixed within 2 day . Tara Queen is the Manager, and she is by far the best. I highly recommend these apartments.

I visited this apartments the other with the intention of becoming a tenant. Unfortunately the leasing associate I encountered made me change my mind. He was focused on gossiping and bad mouthing current tenants who were either calling or dropping by the office. Also when I called him a couple of times a few days later he seemed like he was doing me a for , he sounded rude and down right arrogant. Such a shame coz he made the company lose a potential tenant.

Hello, to whom it may concern, I moved in about two weeks ago and was treated so nice. I am a first time tenant and I'm so pleased with all the help I received. Everyone here was absolutely awesome to deal with. I will be back here next winter as well because I'm only here for the winter, but I will come back here to this place. I love these apartments and especially the people that work here. Thank you, Therese

These apartments are old and expensive, the rug is very old and worn out, but they will change it for an additional $20 fee. Maintenance is very slow, you have to wait to get service. If you go next door for a little more you get new appliance and outstanding maitenance. I asked them to refill the doggie bags, I was told it takes a lo g time and that is a courtesy that they don't really have to supply them.

I desperately needed an apartment, had the cash and co-signers, but no income at the time. I called every apartment in Tampa and no one would even talk to me, several never even returned my call. Then I called Newport Apartments and talked to Tara the Manager. Tara calmed me down, took my information and within the hour had given me the assurance that my new home was waiting for me. 10 days later I have the best job I ever had, I can take over the lease on my own and release my co-signers from any financial obligation. If it wasn't for Tara I don't know what I would have done. Newport also accepted my 2 dogs! When I moved in my apartment was clean, bug free and in good condition. All appliances work well and a couple little things like a leaky shower head were fixed either the same or the next day. Everyone in the office has been very pleasant and we are really enjoying the pool. The parking lot is well lit and the grounds are clean and maintained. It's also surprisingly quiet here. Thanks again Newport!

We have lived at Newport Apartments for 2 years now and overall it has been good. Every apartment complex has its moments.. but that is just the joy's of renting. We are very happy with the service we have received from the office staff. Tara & Hannah are always very kind and will work with you on anything that needs to be done. Our air conditioner broke on Saturday at 10:30pm and Jeff (Maintenance) was there within 15 minutes. He was very professional and reassuring that he wouldn't leave until our air-conditioning was fixed.
