I just moved in and like it here allot

I just moved in 5/1/07 and really like it allot so far. The ducks and turtles are really cool they will follow you around! The staff handed out breakfast to every one leaving this morning! Justin

I miss the old office staff!

When I arrived in Tampa in 2004, my parents helped me move into Newport Apartments. The original office staff was very helpful; I thought Newport was one of the best apartments I have lived in for many years. About a year ago, Newport changed ownership and the situation has quickly deteriorated. Now I have to renew my lease every seven months so they can jack up my rent. Newport has an exclusive contract with a crappy cable company (Ygnition/TVMAX). I had to get DirecTV because I am not allowed to get BrightHouse. The new office staff is rude. They had my FedEx package in the office for a week and said it was never delivered. They said if I renewed I would get free carpet cleaning. I am disabled and had a friend help me move furniture. I stayed in the apartment all day and the carpet cleaner never showed up. Because of my handicap, I am not able to just pick up and move. They need to do a better job of screening new tenants. The parking and noise is getting worse.

I don't know what these people are talking about...

I love living at Newport, I have lived here since July of 2006, so maybe I missed the bad times, but my experience has been nothing but good. The apartments are clean, nice and the property is well maintained. The staff is great and I have never ahd a problem with any of my neighbors. I'm not planning on moving any time soon and would recommend Newport to anyone looking for a reasonably priced apartment in this area. My only complaint is that Brighthouse is not availible in this area.

My oh my !!!

Wow! What has happened to Newport? This place used to be the place to live! Even though it was an older community surrounded by newer properties, people still filled the place up... and it was great! I hate seeing all these terrible negative ratings. In the good old days (not even one year ago) Newport had one of the highest ratings on this site! They always had at least a 98%!<br>Now it's down to 40% and dropping??? Damn! It is so sad to see that. Well we will always have our fond memories of how an apartment property was everything you wanted home to be. If management ever reads these comments...which they definately should...I hope you do something about it. You have lost a huge number of wonderful residents. Come on, bring Newport back up!

disgusting living conditions

This place is disgusting. I've lived here for 2 yrs (thru 3 mgmt changes!) and I can't take it anymore! There was a leak in our ceiling that created mold on our bedroom wall - I finally had to call Hills. county code enforcement to come out after over a year of complaining, and after they cited Newport for the violation, they repaired the wall, but did not get rid of the mold behind it! Low and behold, the mold is back.<br><br>In addition, they do not screen residents when they move in. The woman living next to me finally got evicted after the mgmt did a more thourough background check (after neighbors' insistent complaints) and found out she was arrested a month ago for selling drugs.<br><br>Also, I received a notice from Hills. county sherrif's office the other day notifying me that there was a sexual predator living in our zip code.<br><br>The mgmt staff is rude (especially Claire, who has decided that nothing is her problem), and the maintenance staff is completely incompetant (maybe it would help if any one of them spoke a lick of English!).<br><br>Don't live here, if the sexual predators don't make off with your children, the dog-sized cockroaches surely will.

Sorry to see it go bad

I lived at Newport a few years ago and when I lived there, the apt. ratings were sky high above everyone else. It is so sad to see that the office staff has left and the ratings are so low. This used to be a great place to live. Oh well, it happens to the best of them I guess.

The worst place to rent

If you want to have neighboors who drink, make load noises (fighting) and throw trash in front of your door every weekend, then move here. Also, the people at the office is no help. I heard of a neighboor who got his TV stolen after just weeks of being here. Please do yourself a favor and keep looking.

psychotic, worthless, hag in the office

If you do not mind being pushed around, mistreated, and taked to like dirt, Newport is the place for you. Just hope that nothing goes wrong with your apartment the psychotic, worthless, hag in the office will offer no help. You will be lucky if she even puts your request in. I went into the office several times to report problems with my a/c. On the third attempt she tried to convince me it was never reported.I had to remind her of being in just a day earlier. She tried to appologize when she had no choice but to own up to not entering my request. It was so cold and unheart felt after two days in an 85 degree apartment. We got off on the wrong foot when I first reported the smell of cat urine in my apartment. Come to find out it is Bat urine. Bats get in the wall threw the roof and poop and pee in the walls. Then they die. This is a serious health issue. I would love to put together a class action law suite because nothing is being done about it. Management is fully aware of it and chooses to do nothing about it. A neighbor said her son was sick for months over this,they finally moved her to another apartment after she threatened to get a lawyer and had docters notes. It is not a bad place for the money, it is just run poorly. my lease is almost up. Soon I will be leaving Satin in hell.

They will steal your $40.00 app. fee! Beware!!

Management is rude & nasty. After they took two $40.00 credit application fees we were denied. Couldn't understand as credit is good. Called several times to ask for a something in writing saying why but the lady we spoke to will not return calls. Isn't this required by law when you are denied?

They seem to let anyone in...there is loud noise on weekends...fights....cops and so on..There was a party the other night and 50 plus people were outside..This place is going down the tubes fast!

Are you sure you want to move here?! Why do you want to move here with all the apartments that are nearby around the same price, newer, nicer, and most likely a safer neighborhood. Trust me is you want a safe place here is not the place especially if you have kids.

the worst run complex i have ever seen. grounds are terrible. management worse. no regard for lease holders. no responce on fixing anything. mold in both apts. i've lived in. pisspoor crew.my floors are falling through.my toilets are always overflowing into carepet of closet and bedrooms. the complex is becoming over run with Mexican workers (8-10 per apt.). i pay 875.00 a month to live next door to 9 -------- who live here for free and i clean up bottles of beer, everyday myself,from right in front of my car and my wifes. loud music everynight all night. they hit on my wife constantly. tonight(05 21 06) i saw my neighbor (1 of 9) peeing on my car.none of my issues have been adressed.THE LIST GOES ON.THIS IS THE NEW GETTO. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Not a bad place to live.

We've lived in the same apartment here for almost 3 years now. Obviously when Josh and Lisa were here things were better. They were the kindest souls who helped everyone and got everything done the first time. But in all my apartment expiriences, they went way above and beyond in comparison. So you can't really compare people to them. <br><br>This new management came in and things kinda went downhill for a while. They were kind of rude and unhelpful but I fell like they're getting better. We had one of the largest rainfalls within 24 hours after they came and it caused a lot of leaks that needed to be fixed. I feel like they handled that situation pretty well.<br><br>You have to realise these apartments are 20 years old. Josh and Lisa moved to the Habana Apartments over by the Wal Mart near Gunn Highway. Those apartments are only 5 years old and are amazing, but you certainly pay for it. The one maintenance guy always seems drunk and they only have him pick up garbage around the apartment. But hey someones gotta do it. The skinny man with the glasses and big john are awesome and fix stuff rapidly. <br><br>Here at newport we have 2 Sherriffs who live within the complex, which is always a bonus. Their presense certainly must cut down on shady things that happen here. The bad tennants are slowly moving out and we're getting better ones in. I don't know about everyone else but we're happy with our neighbors now new and old.<br><br>My worst complaint since the new management has arrived is the pool is constantly dirty. It looks like an oak tree crashed landed into it. And I really love to sit at the pool here so thats tragic. <br><br>They keep the grounds here really nice to this day. Seems like twice a week the landscapers are out there and they do a fabulous job. Not to mention the one maintenance man actually seems to pick up all loose litter effeciently.<br><br>As with all apartment complexs theres a couple bad egg neighbors. But like I mentioned they're slowly leaving and we're getting better people in. Hopefully all the white trash and ------ neighbors decide to relocate. I'd be very happy.<br><br>As to the new management. They had some big shoes to fill with Josh and Lisa. I think they are coming around now and are friendly and very helpful. They were probably just kind of nervous. Especially if they had read previous ratings on this complex. Like I said, big shoes to fill. Even the supposid "------" manager has been very nice and helpful to us. <br><br>Overall. I would recommend these apartments.

NASTY MANAGER

We have lived here for a couple of years and since the "Nasty Manager" has arrived, residents are moving out and the always courteous staff seem to be afraid of even waving or smiling anymore. That should say something about "HER". She must live a very miserable life and wants to take it out on the residents and staff alike. In my opinion "SHE" is the problem and definately not the solution to an alrealy well-run complex.

So So So Sad !!! This property is!!!

Of course they had an apartment to move you into ASAP (the previous entry). That is because every one is moving out. As you drive around, look at all the vacant apartments. There is a reason for that. All surrounding communities are full and Newport has a ton of empty apartments.<br>Every decent resident has moved out and the horrible office is letting anyone move in. The only thing you might find in a vacant apt. is a drunk maintenence supervisor!

Just Moved In

My wife and I just moved in a month ago to Newport Apartments and needed to move in ASAP. The staff were very accomidating and very fast to help. Since then we have a great time here. The maintance as been great with any problem that we needed done. Just wanted to let anyone who is thinking about moving here it is a very nice place.

Newport is going down!

Newport was pretty good when we moved in back in early 2004. The price was decent for a small 1 bedroom. Staff that was prev there was awesome....but of course now they are ALL gone. There have been several times I have gone to the office during normal business hours and they were closed or I would go and the staff would be out front smoking (how professional)and I guess they were to good to work on Sundays,b/c they are now closed. Rent increased a huge amount-almost $100! They are crazy if they want me to pay almost $700 for a 600 sq ft one bedroom apt-my new apt else where is almost 1000 sq ft, 2 bd, 2 ba and it's only $70 more a month!They have a HUGE mold problem there and guess how they take care of it? They take this cover up white spray and spray it around your vent so your walls look brand new-they claim it "kills" the mold, but if thats the case why do I have to call them out at least 4 times a year b/c of the problem? They also let ppl rent who have HUGE dogs and they bark ALL NIGHT LONG! And parking has become a pain in the butt! 99% of the time I am never able to park near my apt b/c everyone always is having overnight company. It's just not worth it-please shop around before you sign at Newport!

Horrible Staff and Condition of Apartments

Wow....Im shocked..Newport used to have a 98% rating and now has a 65%. Lol JK! Im not at all shocked. In the 7 months I lived there I heard of 3 car thefts, my neighbors were always fighting so loud I couldn't sleep and had very nosey neighbors! I couldn't take it there and broke my lease. Then the office staff treat you like you are a piece of S***. They really need to step back and take a look at who they have working there. As to Jamie the blonde curly hair girl omg she was such a B****. If you all know what I mean. Im so greatful to have gotten out of there and that my cars made it out of there in one peice. To all that are still there good luck! The way newport is going they will be lucky if they have 3 residents living there. Oh well! Way to trashy there for me. As to there my money I owe them.....well maybe someday I will pay it when I feel like it.

THE WORST IN TOWN

I DON'T KNOW WHO IN THE OFFICE WROTE THE PREVIOUS COMMENT, BUT THINGS DEFINATELY HAVE NOT IMPROVED WITH THE NEW STAFF. SO MANY PEOPLE THAT USED TO LIVE HERE ARE NOW GONE BECAUSE OF THE UNFRIENDLY OFFICE AND LAZY MAINTENANCE. THEY ARE UNCOOPERATIVE AND TALK TO YOU LIKE YOU ARE STUPID. Great experience

After moving in about 8 months ago I have been extremely pleased with the staff in the office. Any problems that I have had before with and maintence problems have cleared up since they changed hands in the office. Things have gotten done quicker and they are very pleasent to speak with. I have decided to renew my lease for a year after things finally getting done and turning around. I have already recommended Newport to many of my friends and family that have been in the market. I so pleased with the ways things have so grately improved.

Don't rent here!!! No good service available!

This place has turned into a dump! Don't even try to go into the office because the new staff will make you feel unimportant. The told me that I better feel lucky living there since they are , "THE CHEAPEST" in town. I don't want to live in the cheapest place in town as they now advertise. Since they obiosly don't care...I am leaving. If you like waiting over a week for maint. to complete a work order or like getting yelled at by the mean office staff, then this is the place for you!

Don't even think about it! NO SERIOUSLY DON'T!

I have lived here for several years and never had a issue or problem if I did it was taken care of ASAP. Recently, 12/05, the old office staff left and the new office staff came in. Since then it all went down quickly just look at the rating alone. Newport USED to be the highest at 98% and now its down already to 86%. I am so displeased I will not remain for the remainder of my lease and I am moving ASAP especially with a rent close to $900 when the biggest apartment here is not even a 1000 sq ft! So you are WARNED I miss the good ole days!
