Not sure what the last post was talking about, sounds like a someone who didn't get their way and apparently didn't pay attention in grammar school. I have been a resident for over 3 years now, and could not be more pleased. The staff has changed somewhat over the past few years, but if anything, they have only gotten better. The manager is very attentive and helpful as always. The new assistant manager is an absolute delight and takes care of any request I have had since he started within a matter of hours at the most, typically within an hour (and I can admit, I can be a pain sometimes). He always answers my questions politely and professionally, and can even have me laughing by the end of my visit. Definitely an absolute delight and an awesome choice by whomever does the hiring. Caroline is great and always very sweet. She is always helpful and does her best to answer anything she can, and will ask a manager for help or for any decisions that are out of her "pay grade"...lol. As far as maintenance, all of the guys are usually very quick and good at what they do, though I have to admit, there is sometimes a language barrier and it can be hard to get across what an issue is, so I have just made sure to give the managers a detailed description of any issues I have and let them do the translating. As far as the property itself is concerned, overall the grounds are well kept. I love having the lighted tennis courts as I don't get off work somedays until after 6, so these allow me to still get a quick game or two in. The pool is amazing, especially right after tennis. I also love taking walks around the lake in the evenings with my little furry friend (also pet friendly here)and we love to take out old bread and feed the ducks. I do have to admit, the buildings are a little older than the surrounding properties, and the interiors could use upgrading (cabinets, appliances, etc), although they work and are decent appliances, they seem to be outdated, and I keep my fingers crossed they will call someday and say they are replacing...lol. It would definitely be nice if someone spruced up the place a little, but for the great price of rent, I'm perfectly happy. All in all, I would definitely recommend to anyone who is seeking a nice, quiet, laid back community. Very helpful and caring staff , awesome prices compared to others where friends mine live. Close to plenty of shopping, but far enough away to stay quiet. Management=perfect 10 AAA ...maintenance 9 AA ....price 10 AAA .....property 8.

I owned a home for 20 years and had to move to an apartment, which was quite a change to say the least. I have lived here for a year and have been very pleased and have no plans to leave anytime soon.

I have to say I love Newport. As a resident now for 2 years its obvious why i have stayed. Unfortunately I have to say the new leasing staff is not as great as is used to be. The new assistant mgr dont even say good morning and ignores you when you walk in, Caroline as friendly as she might try to be is always in the clouds and never a definate response instead she apologize for everything and always have to follow up with Tara (manager) theres a also a new girl which I have nothing bad to say. My only complaint when i first move was the outdated kitchens and boy they keep raising the rent and 0 upgrades (bummer)maintenace its ok as they try to respond as quick as they can and all those complaints about roaches, noise is not as other tenants are trying to portray. They should update the carpeting as you can see the waar and tear and in some cases they just do a "patch work" Overall for me Newport is an 8, hopefully would not go any lower

The complex has easy access to shopping plaza, airport, highways. Rush hour traffic in AM and PM are your usual big city traffic. The complex from the main road looks nice, but its not a gated one, and the rear perimeter fence is in need of replacement. It has a secured fenced in pool, fitness room, laundry center, ratchet ball court (missing both its doors), volley ball and tennis court. There is a big pond in the middle of the complex and outside mailboxes. the complex is a mature one and its showing its age. the apartments, well mine, shows signs of wood rot and old termite damage in screen area. the rugs look new and i have seen them replace quite a few here. Some cabinets have signs of water damage and have been repainted, but the partical board is crumbling. Appliances are old and show wear,but are working properly. The water heater is small so showers have to be quick unless you change your shower head to a low gpm one. The AC is the downfall of my apt. Its an very old one and the evaporator is clogged and airflow is restricted and the apt. never stays cool during the day and freeze over at night,stopping the airflow through it completely. which means higher electric bill and a warm apt. Parts on order and on back order i was told 3 weeks ago. Parking is plentiful, but no assigned spots. and the area is not a totally lighted area, a few dark areas. Pets are allowed and so are dangerous ones (pit bulls). Sadly,some pet owners don't clean up after their dogs and we have a few speedsters in the lot. The office staff is GREAT! They are professional,and do great job. The maintenance personnel do the best they can, with what they have. You cant fix it if you don't have the parts or the authorization to replace it. The grounds are mowed and trimmed by a outside contractor. WELL i guess that's my review, BTW, my background includes 3 years in high-rise luxury apartment maintenance in a major city. Would i recommend this apartment complex, overall, YES. THANK JETBLUE.

This is an okay place for someone on a budget. However, I'm a pretty lackadaisical person, so what may just get an "Eh, whatever" from me might be a dealbreaker for others. My thoughts so far from living here . . . When I moved in, my kitchen was infested with roaches. I'm talking huge suckers that just kept coming from the wall shared with the next neighbor. I hadn't moved a THING in and in the span of about fifteen minutes, I killed ten of them. Maintenance was rather lethargic about sending someone to spray, but eventually someone came to spray. After a few months, I started to see one or two roaches again, so I put down some boric acid and started pouring bleach down the drains at night. So far, so good. I don't have many things and I keep my apartment pretty neat, so I know I'm not so slovenly as to have attracted my unwanted six-legged roommates. And to think, they didn't even help with rent or utilities. Friggin' freeloaders. The people in the office seemed to act as though they are far too busy and important to deal with me, and often made me feel as if I was a burden for asking for my leaking roof and the roach situation to be remedied. As such, I have not come into the office for several months, my last dealing with them was in July. I drop my rent off and mind my own business and just bide my time until I can leave. If you decide to live here, try not to get a unit that directly faces Hillsborough Avenue, unless you are an EXTREMELY heavy sleeper and/or need very little sleep. I have slept through tornadoes before, yet I somehow no longer feel rested while living here, and I am often awoken by emergency response vehicles/ricer cars/people who enjoy sharing their music with the entire road/car horns/screeching brakes/loud motorcycles. As such, lately I have been enjoying looking like I have two permanent black eyes. I've purchased some noise-reducing curtains for my bedroom and tend to keep a fan blowing for white noise; hopefully they'll help. A tree was struck by lightning (I think) and a large branch fell on my vehicle. There was little damage to the vehicle, and I will say that I was impressed that management had the tree cut down within days of this happening, especially since I didn't say anything about it. A neighbor had alerted me that the tree branch fell on my car, so I will say this about the neighbors: the ones in my building, at least, are a bit of a mixed bag. There's definitely a couple 420-friendly people in my building, if you catch my drift. That's none of my business, I just wish I didn't have to smell it. However, most of the ones in my building tend to mind their own business, and are cordial enough if I run into them in the breezeway. There's a family across the hall from me with a child who regularly screams his/her lungs out. And that brings me to my bit about insulation: there is NONE. It often sounds like the child is in my own apartment. The child's parents seem to be very lax about quieting him/her. I understand children are noisy and expect some noise with apartment living; however, being awoken at 7 AM on a Saturday from said child pushes even my patience--there's a reason why I don't have any children of my own! I am rather thin and tend to walk softly, yet I can feel the floor flex underneath my weight. (I live on the 2nd floor.) I do not weigh very much, so the fact that the floor is flexing under my weight may be cause for a bit of alarm. The carpet feels pretty cheap, but I suppose you can throw some rugs over it for a more luxurious feel if you like to walk barefoot. Hot water: if you like long, lavish showers, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. I am lucky to squeeze about seven minutes of hot water from my hot water heater. I don't know if it's the temperature mine is set at or what. However, the hot water heater shares a closet with the HVAC, and as such, is smaller than the ones I'm accustomed to. I do very much like the walk-in closet in my bedroom. The built-in bookshelf is also a nice touch. The appliances here are probably older than I am, but the dishwasher cleans and the stove heats stuff up, so I'm happy with them for the time being. That's about all I can think of, really. If your credit is subprime or you're just really pressed for a place to live, this is an okay place. However, I would not want to live here longer than a year. If you are unfortunate enough to get a unit that faces Hillsborough Avenue, invest in some blackout drapes, a tower fan (Target has some that have several noise settings), and some earplugs. Oh, one more thing: due to the mediocre insulation, expect a hefty power bill if you like to keep your apartment at the equivalent of an igloo. There is also no Verizon FiOS service here. From now on, that will be a dealbreaker for me, as I do not like Brighthouse.

If you want to play 2200 dollars for an old barely maintained apartment go ahead. It took them literally 3 months and 12 days to paint a water leak stain on my living room. The wooden floor buckles during high humid days, when you complain to them they aren't even surprised. AC/Heater is so old it will eat into your pocket. Door men are rude and loud my guests felt little weird.

I have been a tenant of Newport apartments for over 5 years, I love it here. The staff, (Tara the manager) is always kind and helpful. I love,love, love all the closets, no apartment has as many closets ( and I created a spreadsheet in my apartment search). If I have a maintenance issue all I have to do is email the office and it will be taken care of, Even the tenants are wonderful, I have made several friends here. This is a great place to live!

RUN AWAY IF YOU LIKE WHAT I LIKE...TO BE SHORT AND TO THE POINT, THE APARTMENTS ARE OLLLDD AND NEED TO BE REMODELED. THE APPLIANCES ARE EXTREMELY OLD, THE CABINETS ARE DISGUSTING WITH SPIDER WEBS IN THEM. MY FOOD HAS TO BE KEPT IN THE PANTRY OR OUTDATED FRIDGE. THE NUMBER OF WATER/PALMETTO BUGS, SPIDERS AND LIZARDS THAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE APARTMENT ARE RIDICULOUS!!! NOT TO MENTION THE HORRIBLE PARKING IN THE BLDG THAT I RESIDE IN...GET HERE EARLY OR YOU WILL BE WALKING A MILE TO YOUR APARTMENT!THE MAINTENANCE STAFF ARE JUST LIKE ANY ORDINARY CREW..THEY DO WHAT THEY KNOW HOW TO DO AND I GUESS JUST PATCH UP THE REST IF THEY FEEL LIKE IT.. I GUESS THE SAYING IS RIGHT, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!TOO BAD I DINT KEEP LOOKING SMH BELIEVE IT OR NOT, BUT "EVERYTHING" THAT I HAVE STATED IS TRUE, ILL LEAVE IT UP TO YOU IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO EXPERIENCE THIS YOURSELF...

Horrible place. Security is the worst ! I have read many reviews and I can tell that the people that works in the leasing department are the one posting all those fabulous comments. My info was stolen from the leasing department. Yes! All my information that includes social security number, date of birth and on and on. My apartment keys also stolen. And the leasing department did not do anything.about it. This place is also very very dirty! The construction of the building is poorly I can smell my next neighbors food or bad smells. My electric bill is over $200.00 according to record the cool air escapes from the poor construction.

We are on our second Lease and will renew again in 6 months when it's time. We have reiceived excellent service for the most part' only a few minor setbacks that were handled immidiatly as things happen sometimes. I've seen some bad reviews and it seems like these people are just pissed off because they are usually highly over exaggerated so I do not put much stock in them because I live here and I know that they are lying. This is a good place to live and very afforadble for West chase area.

On to the Next

Not safe. Since I've been a tenant, I've encountered robberies, security breaches, and now, identity theft. Unfortunate circumstance seem to come up around every corner at this residence. Neighborly living. I understand there is a certain amount of personal space that you lose whilst residing in an apartment, however listening to the theme song of my neighbor's latest soap opera and the multitudes of domestic disputes that take place is not remotely close to an ideal situation. The morning I get ready for work and don't have to listen to my neighbor peeing will be epic. Makeshift. The staff doesn't do much by way of security, and they do that much less in concern to repair. My dishwasher is broken. I've put a request for it to be fixed, which caused the sink to break and flood. I put in a request for the sink to be repaired and the dishwasher no longer works. I'll wash my stuff by hand, thanks.

I am removing my previous good review because since the management change the complex has drastically gone down hill. Mainly I am bothered with the quarterly inspections they do now that feels like a blatant invasion of privacy.

A Nice Place to Live

After reading some of these reviews I have to say that I am actually suprised! I have lived in Newport for almost two years now and have never had a problem with bugs, maintinance not coming or even with the bats! My boyfriend and I moved here to go to college and from the begininng found this place to be one of the best in the area when it comes to price and environment! Over the time that we have lived here we have grown close to the office staff! They are extremely friendly and caring!When we got our dog the were nice and understanding enough to let me do weekly payments of $50 until I payed my pet fee off! Now they know my dog by name and greet him whenever they see him! And yes rent is due by the 3rd or you have to pay $75 plus $5 a day but people have to understand that hardly anywhere now days is going to just let you be late for free! Even the electric companies don't do that so why would they! If you want a good apartment to call home that is reasonable on price and a nice environment this is the place to go!

Management is the pits!

The property has apparently got issues with paying their bills! The lawn here is sometimes up to my knees! Also fair warning the place is infested with BATS! Go look and you will even find bat boxes posted all over the property!Don't even think about approaching the manager she looks barely old enough to vote and simply is there just for the paycheck not her abilities with the residents! Avoid this place.

I love it!!!

I moved here 3 months ago. I LOVE it. If I have any issues its taken care of right away. My move into my apartment was smooth and easy. The staff is pretty cool too. Since I moved in they had like 2 resident events. I havent lived anywhere that did that before. I tell everybody at my job about it. If the people at the office read this. Love u guys, my apartment is awesome THANK U!!

Best place for the money

We have been here in this apartment for 2 years now. The management here is the best to work with. They understand life's ups and downs of what families go through. They are management first but they are people too, that may have been through problems in there life and have compassion and understanding. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Management is Horrible, apartments are o.k.

2 Year Resident, The management here sucks, bottom line. If you are looking for an apartment with management that will work with you, are considerate and understanding, this is not the place for you!! (Ex: Don't pay by the 3rd, even if the payschedule falls on a 5th, you will pay the $75 plus the $5 bucks a day.) I placed a $500 deposit and only recieved $80 back. After calling the home office, nothing was resolved. I have attached the pictures, you decide for yourself. I ultimately decided it wasn't worh the trouble, and Karma will come around. I had a dear friend move out of her lease a month early, and was paying $700 for the big one bedroom plan. The office rented her apartment right away. Which means they made money on this deal. A month later when she went back, they charged her $800 for the same apartment. So much for doing the right thing here. I would not recommend this property to anyone. The apartments are old, the office is lazy, and you will leave dissatisfied. Juan R.

The Place to be

I moved to Newport Apartments in December and love it. My apartment has a hugeee walk-in closet. I have great neighbors around me and never have complaints about noise. There is plenty of parking here so Im never stuck searching for a spot or having to park a mile away because there aren't any spaces closer. I have had very few issues with my apartment but everytime I have contacted maintenance they came that same day. Im very pleased with the office staff, the moving in process was really smooth and quick. I enjoy living here and probably will continue living here for a while.

Run away and don't look back.

I have lived here for 2 years my first year wasn't bad there were bugs and roaches but not very often. Once I signed my lease for the 2nd year everything changed and has gone down hill. The roaches only got a lot worse from baby roaches to palmetto roaches that fly it is so disgusting they have even crawled on me while sleeping I see roaches here everyday. In the kitchen there are black bugs every where I have no idea what they are, but they get into all my appliances . I complain to the office and they only spray once a month, but they never go away. Kids are constantly breaking the lock key to the pool gate so they will only make the pool available during business hours and I work so I go on weekends but I have to leave the pool area early, because the office has to lock up the pool. Recently there has been a sexual assault in here and the office posted a letter on every residents door and the last thing in the letter stated that if anyone had any info to call a number. I don't feel safe here anymore. The community is becoming ------. Valet trash comes Sunday thru Thursday I live on the 2nd floor and have noticed they don't come everyday so the trash will sit out over night and animals will make there way into it and the trash will be all over the floor in front of the door. The ac doesn't work correctly they blame it on the heat outside. I have a newborn baby that gets fuzzy and doesn't sleep due to the heat I have had to stay with my parents due to the heat. maintenance claims to have done test on it and swear its a newer unit, but it is hot as heck in here i have had to buy 2 fans. My electric bill this month is $164.00 I have never paid that much in a one bedroom apartment before.If u cook in here it only gets worse and I don't ever have guest because of the heat. I have even spoken to the property manager and she agrees with maintenance. The ac has been a constant problem and they never attempt to fix it right away u have to constantly call the office which is annoying. Parking is horrible if u are not home right after work. I move out in September and can't wait I hate this place. Don't move here only if u like what I hate.

Fantastic Management Team!

I moved into Newport Apartments last summer and from the first day I decided to take an apartment here the management team, specifically Helen, have gone above and beyond to make sure that my experience here has been a pleasurable one. Everybody in the office has been wonderful! Super friendly and really helpful, (not like alot of other apartments where I've lived where they are nice and helpful to you to get you to rent their apartment and then forget who you are once you've signed the lease.) I have a large one bedroom apartment and I love it. The apartment is big, very spacious for a one bedroom. The grounds are kept immaculate. The maintenance staff is always quick and courteous. The whole complex is quiet, serene and peaceful. Just a beautiful little community! Sadly, I will be moving out at the end of my lease because my boyfriend really wants a place with a garage but if things ever go sour I know where I'll be coming back to live! :)

This is a horrible place to live from the giant bugs to the incompetent staff. The staff can't be bothered to deal with any problems in this community. I had to complain three times about an animal living in the crawl space above my apartment before anybody even came out to look.

Great Location, Great Price!

I was very skeptical about living at Newport based off of some of the nasty reviews of previous residents and disgruntled employees that have lived and worked at Newport. And let me tell you it's nothing like what has been said, as a matter of fact don't take my word for it. If your looking for a quite, clean and affordable place to live just stop by the main office and speak with the staff your self. The staff there seem to have an open door policy with the residents and carefully handles their issues or concerns in a timely manner. Same goes for their maintenance staff, when I call for maintenance requests issues are typically fixed the same day. I moved in about six months ago and I couldn't be any happier with the staff and Newport Apartments. I really like it here and can't foresee my self moving any time soon.

I moved to Newport in November and I am very happy with it. My neighbors are very friendly and it is in a great location. I haven't had too many issues where I have had to call maintenance but when I have they came in a timely manner. So far i have enjoyed my time at Newport Apartments

VERY DISAPPOINTED

I moved to Newport the middle of 2010, the experience was good with the exception of my being told that I was assigned to one apartment but actually assigned to another. The office staff at that time was very nice especially Lisa. For the past few months things have changed. I have called the leasing office several times regarding various problems and the issues have either been ignored or taking entirely too long to solve. I do like the apartments its a good size, ok price and my neighbors are friendly. Management has to do a better job of responding to complaints/solving issues.
