overall unsatisfied
When we moved in back in April of 04 we loved it the management was nice, the tenants were young professionals with respect for their surroundings, then the management changed. We lived on the first floor and this guy moved in upstairs who had children that would come over on the weekends. All hours of the night and the wee hours of the morning these children would run and jump the entire length of the apartment. We first asked the neighbor if he could keep it down, he actually threatened my husband and said we have to deal with his children. We complained to management several times and they said there was nothing they could do. Progressivly the rent lowered and the tenants moving in were less than ideal.
The complex was pet friendly, and we respected that, not everyone does, there was dog feces all over the grounds, and the people across the street had a dog similar to ours and would not clean up their mess, and we were blammed because it would come to our "yard" and mess. Even though I was respectful, always early with rent, and kept to my self. Rather than finding out the actuall situation the new management threatened us for the dog mess. I spent more time cleaning up other people's mess and trash. The real kicker, we had about 3 feet of snow fall and our front door was blocked in from a snow drift that came up halfway on the door, it took management 2 weeks to get that door unblocked, it had literally frozen over and we could not open our front door. Thank god we had a garage, but the snow plow plowed the street snow up on the driveways, and without an SUV many neighbors were homebound! For the amount of money we paid per month that was completly unacceptable. We could NOT WAIT for that lease to expire. We left a bought a house to avoid having to deal with apartment living forever!

Overall Good
I currently live here in 3 bedroom with garage, I love the open floor plan having 2 young kids. Their is so much space. As in any place you share walls with others but nothing major. My husband and I moved here from out of state and we thought its a nice area near residential and schools. Maintance is a little disapointing but they are friendly. Staff is fine. Overall great place to live, very quiet and peaceful.

middle of the road
lots of problems with working the bugs out of a new place, and the construction is just average at best. However; living in a second story unit was great, there was minimal noise and having an attached garage was like having a house instead of an apartment. Office staff was average, and maintenence responded quickly although it usually took more than one visit to fix a problem. Weighing everything out, I would take a chance and recommend it. Just go with your gut feeling!!

My Beautiful Kentucky Home
Moving into The Columns has been heaven. The trauma of downsizing and moving away from family was met by the caring, sympathetic staff who has offered their knowledge of the area with graciousness. The excellent storage space, both in the apt and garage gave us ample coverage for the precious extras we could not part with. The apt floorplan is spacious and our rooms perfectly meet the needs of a couple who constantly entertains and has out of state company on a regular basis. We love walking the well landscaped grounds with our dog and visiting with our wonderful neighbors along the way. But best of all is the staff. Imagine asking for something to be done and having the task professionally completed in 24 hours or less! We live on a ground floor apt next to the pool, but are soundproof with the windows shut, and we have rarely heard a peep from our upstairs neighbor. The convenience to schools, churches, stores, etc is incredible making this the perfect choice.

The office management is NOT at the level you expect from luxory apartments community.
Short term leases are very common, so they do Not pay that much attention to long term residents. Acting as they do NOT know what you are talking about giving you a stare look is common occurance.
If you have a problem inside the apt and they can not find the cause they just pretend there is nothing wrong:)?
Need more mature employee to work in the office if they really care

Not recommended. Very noisy and not worth the money.
Awful. The only thing luxurious about these apartments are the price. First floor living is NOT recommended. You can hear everything. It has been an horrendous experience and nothing seems to get done.

Lower living Nightmare :AVOID at all costs
I signed a lease and moved into a lower level 2 BR Apt. The apt looked really nice.
The first night my upstairs neighbor with his 4 kids got home, and thats when it all started. You can hear every step that they make. Imagine listening to the sound of 4 kids running the length of the apartment for hours on end up till 11:00 PM. Here is the kicker I complained to management and they said that there is nothing that they can do. So save you money and most of all save your piece of mind and find another place to live!
Columns gets 4 out of 5 stars
Columns is a great apartment complex overall. They do have a few problems though.
1. The grass is very sparse, and needs to be replanted or resodded.
2. There snow removal program is slow.
3. There maintenance is understaffed.
4. The pool is unheated and stays pretty chilly through the summer.
Those are my only real complaints. Other than that: there staff is super friendly, the apartments are very nice, and you get a garage. I definitely recommend the Columns.

An honest review
I have been here for about two months, and I have enjoyed every minute of it! I don't know when the new management took over, but I haven't had any problems with the office or the maintenance. As far as I'm concerned, Lester is the best maintenance manager I've ever known. Everyone here has gone out of their way to help in any way they could. I could not be happier with my choice of the Columns; the pool, jacuzi, exercise room and office area are a plus! I would reccomend the Columns to anyone who wants to avoid the ho-hum everyday apartment life. We've already been to two tenant appreciation dinners (w/free appetizers) and had a community pool party. It's been a blast!

feels more like a home than an apartment complex
It is very quiet and private here. You don´t see any breezeways or staircases here, all of the apartments have private entrances-mine opens on the back. I don´t have the feeling of being in an apartment complex at all and see rabbits and deer from my patio. The floorplans are fabulous and also don´t feel like apartments. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Okay, but overpriced with construction and management problems
This is a new community, so the mud is still plentiful. The construction was done by the owner, so there is no one to hold responsible for the problems that have come up after the apartments were released for rental. A good wind, and pieces of vinyl siding are all over the grounds. The maintainence staff is good, but they are fighting a battle with construction problems, management, and their normal duties.
The sales staff swear that the apartments are sound proof, but the only real swearing is coming from us residents. Conversations and noise of your neighbors are easily heard.
The property has potential if the construction and management problems are addressed. There has been a change in mangement companies as of Dec. 2003, so it remains to be seen what, if any, changes will be made.
Be prepared for a 12 page lease agreement!!
I´d recommend this place, but hesitantly.
