Our 12 month lease will be up in 2 months. We will be moving out. Isn't it funny how similar alot of these reviews are? Everybody here seems to experience roughly the same things. My suggestion to anyone considering signing a lease here would be to drive through the parking lot and find a tenant who can give them live feedback in person. You will see that the people on this site are not lying or embellishing. Here is my experience: The woman at the leasing office wasn't very thorough in explaining how the bill and rent payments work. While I wouldn't consider anything "hidden", I was surprised not only by how we pay the utilities, but by the amount of the fees and bills. The internet is probably the biggest sham of all. Internet comes with the apartment automatically, although you must pay for it. 50 bucks. It's a little high, but the worst part is this keeps you from being able to capitalize on any bundle promotions offered by the cable company. It pretty much ensures you will be paying full price for cable TV plus the already inflated $50 internet bill. The apartment we were moved into was not the same exact model we were shown and lead to believe we would be getting. The biggest difference is the lack of an outside storage closet. I think everything else is the same. My wife does not feel safe here. They advertised a secure buzzer system "like the one on Seinfeld", which is how they described it. The exterior door to the building has never locked, rendering this buzzer system "like the one on Seinfeld" completely obsolete. We even got a notice on the door one day stating that a security company would be entering the apartments doing maintenance on the buzzer system. I don't think anyone even came. The front door is still unlocked, Im not sure if my buzzer system works or not. The percentage of street lights in the parking lot that are burnt out must be above 60 or 70 percent making the parking lot virtually pitch black at night when the moon isn't out. I haven't had any vehicle break-ins, not to say it doesn't happen. The maintenance crew here is a joke. A bad, lazy, ------, incompetent joke. I read another review about the cheap vinyl bath surround they put in when tiles started falling out in the shower. They did the same thing here. It doesn't fit the shower properly not only leaving tile showing around the edges, but making the caulked seams separate from one another allowing for excess mildew to accumulate in the gaps. Work orders are never filled in a timely manner. In the summer, they told us it would take a little longer to fix our leaking toilet which needed a new gasket leaking toilet water on our bathroom floor because air conditioning issues take priority. We had toilet water leaking onto our floor for days. Then when our AC went out, It took over a week to get it repaired! Everything the maintenance crew touches turns to crap. Did I mention they are ------ as hell? I don't allow them in my apartment when I'm not home, which is very inconvenient for me since you'll never know when you put in a work order how long it will take. My wife does not feel comfortable with them here when I'm not. They swear like they're playing poker with their buddies without even thinking it may not be acceptable behavior in my home. The state of the apartment at move-in was horrible. The "updates" are ridiculous. They used some sort of spray-on countertop. I know this because it is sprayed partly on the walls around the countertops as well. They didn't use painter's tape when painting the walls, there is a 2-inch section of ceiling which is painted along the entire border with the wall in the entire apartment. It looks like crap. The dishwasher was never properly secured in place. It tips over forward when I pull out the rack when there are dishes on it. Again, I don't want maintenance in my home so we just live with it. Two shelves ripped right out of the wall when we first used them. They were screwed right into the drywall, not into the studs, without anchors. The carpet is the absolute cheapest available on the market and is well past its usable life, not what you'd expect in a "luxury apartment home". There was a guy on the corner the other day holding a sign that said "Bentwood Apartments are thieves!". I seriously considered buying some poster board and joining him for a bit. He was my hero. Let's put something into perspective... A guy drove his car into the pond on the apartment property this winter and drowned. It took the complex over 3 months to put a guard rail up around the pond. We're talking life and death. How long do you think it will take for something to get fixed in your unit? I've lived in alot of places, in a wide range of conditions and this place is the furthest from how it is represented. It is far from luxury and over priced for what it is. I would not recommend and haven't even though they offer a reward for doing so.

I wrote a short review yesterday but forgot one very important detail. The office put notices up for packages to be brought to the office so that they were "safe". Tentants could then pick them up at the office. During Christmas time I had package delivered. Ups confirmed that they delivered the item and gave me the name of the signer. I still have not received my item which was a gift for someone. The office stated that they didnt have it and said no one by the name of the signer worked there.

HORRIBLE APARTMENTS! Apartments are overpriced with hidden fees that they don't tell you about. Maintenance is a joke the problem is never fixed the first time. Security doors are NEVER locked. Safety is a huge concern. My vehicle has been broken into 2 times since moving in 6 months ago. The parking lot is poorly lit making it easy to have your vehicle broken into. Thieves know Bent Tree is an easy target area. Groups of cars are constantly circling scoping out residents vehicles between the hours of 2-4am. The field in the middle is a huge problem area. It's not lit making for easy hiding spots behind trees. The police helicopter flies over multiple times NIGHTLY.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! I am a former resident who had to use legal means to end my lease early. They did a "bait and switch" as far as the unit I received went (I paid for one unit then the one I got at the signing of my lease was more expensive and different from the one I had paid for). The unit they gave my was not ready to be rented. The walls weren't painted, the carpet was dirty, and the bathrooms were moldy. This doesn't take into account the numerous falling shelves and water damage. I could go on for pages but I will say that the leasing office seemed either incompetent or unwilling to correct the situation. After numerous attempts I had to hire an attorney to get out. And yes, there are hidden fees, as well. Unless you are in a bind, there are far better options around town that offer better service and nicer grounds. Please take my advice and don't move in here.

DON'T DO IT...We currently live here and this place is awful. We have a 2 bedroom and neither one of them get any heat..The windows are awful you can feel the air coming through. Our neighbors are disrepectful and are always slamming their doors and let their kids run up and down the halls screaming..The security door has never worked...The maintenance people are HORRIBLE.We have put in several work orders for the same problem since last June and yet have we seen anyone..The upgraded apartments are spray painted granite and the floors are wood lamintate sticky tiles that are poorly laid and there are gaps everywhere. There was paint all over our carpet along with huge stains. There is a "first billing" fee which includes 50.00 for internet use and electric for the apartment community and that bill is always 130.00...Our apartment building constantly smells of nasty curry since everyone that lives here are indian. This place is the worst place I have ever lived. My lease is up October and I cant wait to get out of here..If your smart dont come to this place they are buy no means LUXURY Apartments like they advertise..And the last time we were in the gym everything was broken...save your money and go somewhere else..they dont care about their residents here at all just money hungry...They are always coming into your apartment for some sort of inspection its ridiculous..

These apartments are terrible. The rent seems decent but they screw you with all the hidden fees. They provide Internet!! Awesome... Nope not awesome because that alone costs $50/mo . So no cable bundles for you. You have to pay community costs, which is fine unless you have one of the larger apartments than your community fee goes up even though its not for your specific apartment. It's great that they allow pets with no restrictions but NOONE picks up after their dogs. They don't salt or shovel when it snows. They say no smoking in the apartments but lots of ppl do anyway and it seeps through the walls. When we moved in we took over 100 pictures of house gross and dirty the apartment was. After we told them how disgusted we were and they admitted that they had a cleaning crew come clean before we moved in, They said the cleaning person "called off". There was MOLD in the master bathroom and the fix was an insert on the walls which was installed horribly. It now has air bubbles behind it and the best part is that it doesn't even fit!!! There is about 2 inches of tile showing at the top. The walls are paper thin so you can hear ever person come in and out of the main door which is supposed to have a intercom system for security but that is broken and has been since we moved in. We have lived here for 6 months and had 5 "apartment inspections". They post notes on your door saying it serves as your 24 hr notice but they don't tell you why they are coming in. Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have lived in our apartment for about 4 months now. Took a little longer than we expected to move in, but once we did we love everything. Maintenance always comes and fixes thing. We even called about lights to entrance ways and in about 3 days they were fixed as well. The office people are always very and and thank us for bringing things to their attention. The only negative thing about living is here is the extremely loud lady that lives above us. We never hear the people beside us, but ALWAYS here the lady above us. We are very pleased with our experience so far living here!!

To preface: I do not live here, but was looking through the reviews as I search for a new apartment.......To add to the comment about the apartments being inhabited by more people than federal law allows... I know that the Attorney General would be interested to know of this. I would suggest contact via his website... I've experienced a similar situation in the past, and unfortunately having the government step-in was the only way resolution was found.

TERRIBLE - BEWARE AND DO NOT SIGN YOUR LEASE. I have rented for quite a few years from various places and have never seen an operation like this one. I wish I knew more before moving in. Maintenance is awful and I am not sure if they have had any training or had a background check ran against their name before being employed there. Very scary! Tired, worn out apartments even with the very cheap renovations they did. Our floors were coming up, they said they put new carpet in but we could see pets stains from the last people, and serious mold problems in ceilings and bathrooms. Your maintenance problems will never be fixed and everyone in the office is incompetent when it comes to managing people and the property. Glad I am out of there.

Absolutely stay away from! Apts are old and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. The staff is very Bad and They are cheating and can't stand by words What they've mentioned when sign lease,They clearly said just Job transfer letter with 30 days notice is enough to vacate there are no Lease break fees but When I moved out they have mentioned I'm responsible till lease ends which is rediculas when there is a problem they tell you its corporate policy and there is nothing they can do. I was shown an open model that was perfect and the one I got the keys to wasnt even the same style. Add about 150 onto ur rent for all the "common" fees u are charged for and not told about. The maintenance, when they come, do a half assed job because they hire unqualified people. This is a warning to everyone. This place is not anywhere worth what u pay for! Stay away if u dont want to get stuck in a lease! There is trash everwhere and broken lights that nobody fixes. The trash is always overflowing. There are a lot of families with more people than they are supposed to have in there and u split water and electric with them. U cant bundle cable, internet and phone because they already have internet that they charge u 50/month for but they dont tell u that. All this and I have barely lived there 3mos. Actually heard worse stories from current residents.

Overall, the apartment is wonderful. The carpeting is clean and unstained, the walls intact, new appliances and countertops in the bathroom and kitchen are excellent. Also, brand new washer and dryer setup is a plus. The staff at the leasing office are excellent, energetic, and easy to get along with. Only complaints are the condition of the windows/frames of the apartment (windows are warped, screens fall out and down 3 stories, do not line up/close properly, and are hard to open and close), walls were most hastily painted with splashes on doors and floor boards, and slow maintenance response. I have asked 4 times for the window that is missing the screen be repaired because the screen simply falls out. Each time the "repairman" comes its the same twisted/bent screen that falls out overnight. Also, the dryer in the laundry room obstructs the door from opening and the "repairman's" solution was to jam the machine into the wall and force the door closed. Not impressed with the support staff at all. The apartment is quiet and the grounds are safe and kept impeccably clean. Kids playing outside and people walking their dogs and babies in strollers indicates the safety and comfort of the residents. Parking can be spotty but a space can be found in front of other building units. I would highly recommend this complex.

We moved in July 2012, and moved into a renovated unit (1bd den 1bth). The renovations are really nice - black counters, new appliances, and nice light fixtures. The unit itself is nicer than we expected considering how inexpensive our rent is compared to other apartment complexes. The outdoor storage area is huge, which is extremely beneficial. Our floor plan also comes with a long bathroom vanity, which really helps with two people. The walls aren t cheap white paint, which also makes the place feel nicer. We have had one maintenance issue, and they came within 3 days of the call and fixed the problem. And the staff at the leasing office is great - I disagree with every negative complaint regarding them on this site. I know bad office staff - I lived at Olentangy Commons for 3 years. The grounds are nice. I like all the trees - new apartment complexes never have any trees. The pool is different because it sits above a pond, which is pretty nice. Also, Bent Tree has doggie bags around the grounds, so I've noticed not a lot of dog poop. One other thing I've noticed is the apartment halls never smell. I've always felt like apartments with main door entrances are gross because they smell horrible. Bent Tree does a great job keeping that common area clean. They let us sign an 18 month lease, which was really nice because we are looking to save for a house. After that, they explained our options, which include a variety of short term lease options. We are definitely happy with our decision to live here! I do have similar complaints to other reviews, the price for internet is high - I feel a little scammed when we pay that bill. But it is quality internet. We can run multiple computers, hook up the TV to stream netflix, and the signal is never slow. I think they could add more outdoor lighting. I walk my dog at night and it's a little hard to see what's around me, until it's an entrance to a building, which is helpful, but not enough in my opinion. Also, the basketball court needs some updating. People use it, it would be nice if they repaved, it, or put in a new hoop that isn't lopsided. Finally, the balconies. Like I said above, our apartment is amazing, we love it. But our balcony is a little beat up. It almost feels like it s going to crumble when we sit out on it. Despite these issues, definitely look into living here. It s worth it.

Overall the apartments are ok. I have had issues in the past with maintenance but after a few calls everything is taken care of. I think the overall appearance could use a little "fixing" up. It looks tired and dated. I have upgrades in my apartment and I love them. I had many, many issues with my "new" air conditioning unit during the summer. LOTS! I have many spots on my ceiling of water leaks. I also, had a hole in the wall by my sliding glass doors and had a mouse on 3 different occassions. This is after calling maintenance and exterminator. Maintenance guys are very friendly and hard working. I think they have a lot to take care of and seemed overwhelmed. The office staff is nice and friendly. They are eager to assist whenever I call or stop by. I appreciate Amber, Amanda and Tracy. I am sure it is hard taking phone calls and/or drop in visits from people with problems all day long but they never seem upset...they are always upbeat and super nice! At times the exterior lights are not working properly outside my building. And my building has never had a locked exterior door...which causes concerns for safety. Again, I have been in these apartments for almost 4 years. The cost is good, the location is great. I stay because of these reasons plus the staff is very easy to work with.

The good thing about this apartment - There is always an apartment available. The bad thing about this apartment complex - 1. Bad managment 2. Poor Maintance 3. They over charge a whole lot more than what the rent is. 4. I used to get internet for cheap before I moved here and these guys overcharge for it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I beg you: DO NOT SIGN THE LEASE AND MOVE HERE! The complex is very bad with maintenance issues and the staff is not capable of fixing the problems in your apartment. They have yet to fix a city code issue in the apartment for 2 years . . . I called the city. All the other reviews are true and there are hidden fees almost adding $200/month added to your rent. They lump sum the entire water and sewer charges for the complex and divide in order to give you your bill. I travel often for business so there are sometimes I do not use a drop of water for a week but still get charged the same price. They also charge for COMMON ELECTRIC which includes hallway lights and parking lot lights which never turn off. Also a $7.99 administrative fee, $10.99 for pest control and $19.88 for trash every month! I am just trying to help people like me that were taken advantage of. The management company is called the Connor Group. They manage multiple complexes in Columbus so beware.

I've lived in multiple apartments throughout the years and this is by far the worst. I don't feel like I have high expectations- I understand you get what you pay for. But this place is the first apartment I've ever wanted to actually write a review for because I hated it so much. First off, it seems great at first glance. When you do a walk-through it looks like nice new countertops, nice silver appliances, laminate flooring. But after you move in you see the truth and how cheap all of this stuff is. It doesn't help that maintenance guys are idiots and did such a bad job with everything. For example- all of our plastic baseboards around the floor in the bathroom are coming off; there is caulk all over the bathroom wall and floor (which just makes it always look dirty); they didn't cut the laminate flooring properly and you can see the old flooring underneath; kitchen countertops are peeling; stains ALL OVER the carpet (it's unbelievable!); and my absolute favorite: they used some sort of spray on the countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms to make it look like granite. No problem, but they were MESSY with this and got the spray all over the walls, too! One of our bathrooms they also got half the toilet. So there's just black spray all over the toilets and walls. Ridiculous. Oh, and you have to pay a mandatory 50.00/month for internet through them. If you paid TWC on your own it'd be about 20.00 (I asked TWC), so you're paying an extra 30 for internet. You also pay for pest control monthly (lived here 12 months- never saw pest control- did see some mice in my apt though!) and 20.00 (YES, 20.00!!) for trash. There are about 5 dumpsters all around and at least 100 units. So each unit pays 20.00 monthly for trash. That's unbelievable. And maintenance- absolutely the worst maintenance I've ever had at any apartment. They ignore calls and are lazy. I also really don't think they know what they're doing. Once they finally get to your apt. they have to ALWAYS "order parts" and come back a week later. Then when they "fix" something they do such a bad job. I finally just started fixing things myself around here. They are also really ------ and I doubt they ever had any training in maintenance. I hate letting them in my apartment. Just to be fair, the goods things: Comes with a washer and dryer in unit, which is nice. Dog friendly community. Everyone has their own porch and grills are allowed, which is nice. Location is also really nice, close to a lot of things and the highway. However, I don't think these things make up for the negatives. I was sorry I signed my lease after a month into it and now I'm so happy it's over. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't rent this place. I always read reviews and think that it's never as bad as people say and that they're complaining, but it IS bad here. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Bent Tree Apartments is quite possibly the worst experience anyone will ever enconter. Theyve all said the same thing, you walk in, they tell you what a wonderful community it is, how prompt their maintenece staff, how amazing the ammenities are, and they show you a brand new renovated apartment. Upon moving in, my wife and I ran into the same problem countless others have run into. A HALF ASSED JOB. The white glove inspection was bogus, neither toilets or sinks in either bathroom was working, no dryer duct, unrepaired chips in the countertops, and a fan with lights that wouldnt turn off. It took them THREE WEEKS to replace the fan and electronics. Then 6 months later during the summertime our air conditioner was not working. Their "Lead Technician" came out 4 times claiming it was fixed, and our apartment was reaching temperatures up to 90 degrees! We finally annoyed them enough that they put in a window unit, of which they asked us if we had a peice of cardboard they could "shove up in there" so that there was not an exposed area due to their window units not even being big enough to span the window. As if that wasnt enough, they sent yet another "expert" technician out to "fix" it once again, and didnt even confirm that it was fixed before they took our window unit. It was still up to 85 degrees in our apartment and their lead maintenece tech told us that "if my boss says its fixed, its fixed. enough lying".Do not be fooled by their faulty adds!

DO NOT LIVE HERE! Hidden fees add up and it's an overall expensive apartment for what you get. The staff is clueless and would rather ignore any issues than actually deal with them. The management company is The Connor Group, which if you do some research on them, you will find they also have many complaints out there. There are 2 pros: it's in a good location and there is ample parking. But the price of the apartment is not worth it. Don't be fooled by their "Luxury Apartment" sign out front. They are far from luxury and need a lot of work.

Expensive and falling apart
I like the layout of the apartment and there is a decent amount of parking, but that's where the "pros" of living here end. My apartment is significantly more run down than the apartment I was shown. There is water damage all along the walls, especially in the bathroom and my bedroom. It makes it impossible to get the place to look clean. There were huge stains on the carpet when I moved in, and although there was a note on the counter saying that it had been cleaned, it clearly had not. It took me a full day of scrubbing to make the place live-able. The insulation is terrible, so electic and gas bills are through the roof. It took 5 days for them to show up to fix my A/C during a week when it was 90 every day. The utility company that you have to go through is ridiculous as well. My old apartment was exactly the same size and I paid no more than $40 each month for water, sewage, etc. You are forced to pay whatever utilities they want to contract with through First Billing. This includes wireless internet. My old Time Warner package was $120/month. Now, I have to pay $50 for internet through the First Billing and my Time Warner has been unbundled so I pay them $100. That's an increase of $30. There are also monthly admin fees, payment processing fees, etc. My utility bill is around $130/month, which means I'm basically paying $900 to live in a place that is not very nice at all. I have a garage that is around the corner of the apartment. Several of the outside lights have been burnt out for months, which means I have to walk to my car in the dark- doesn't feel safe. I've also seen the maintenance guys giving kids rides around in their golf cart when I'd had a maintenance request outstanding for several days. The maintenance that is completed is always a "quick fix" type of thing.
