Bait and switch
I am in the process of finding a new place. The grounds are beautiful, but the price for what you get is way too much. When I came in to look at the apartments, I was quoted $725. When I signed my lease, I found that that included a significant rebate. This year, they raised my rent by $125. This would be ok, if the market could handle it, but they are begging for people to move in. My neighbor moved out and found they were offering her apartment for $100 less then her rent. The first two months I moved in, I had problems with noise, an animal moved into the crawl space above my apartment. Nothing was done until I threatened to call my lawyer. Then in the spring, my air conditioning didn't work. Took them weeks to fix it. I rented a spot, but if I wanted to part on the surface lot, it was a nightmare. Don't move to this facility, or be prepared to move after 1 year.

Village Park of Mayfield sucks
Absolutely one of the worst management teams I have ever met, especially the property manager -----. They just don't care about anything. My boyfriend and I lived there for two years before moving to Texas. Mold was everywhere and it was even coming through the carpet. They were not even willing to come and have a look. The last review is correct , they lost one of our certified checks too and apologize later , just to get the extra $50.00 late charge. Overall: bad, bad , bad and again bad. Never rent an apartment there !!!!!!!!!!!!

do not live here
My boyfriend I were living in this apartment for 6 months when we started having problems. They kept telling him he wasn't paying his rent after he gave them a certified check! Then they would come back and apologize for their mistake. Now (8/1/2007) they have sold this complex to a new owner who is kicking EVERYONE out of these apartments so that he can renevate them. We lived next door to a sweet old lady who has lived here for 15 years and now has no place to live. Everyone is out to make a buck. He is kicking everyone out just to renevate them to be able to charge more for rent. They are putting tons of people out of a place to live. Who would want to live somewhere where there are people like that? On top of that, he gave us 30 days to find a new place. Absolutely ridiculous and I would NEVER live here or tell ANYONE to live here. Plus, the apartment isn't that great anyways for what you pay. The kitchen is TINY and there is a ton of noise.

This sucks
I won't recommend this to any one. This is one of the most horrible apartments I have ever seen in US. It is just junk. Following are the reasons why one should not even consider this apartment.
a) It is old.. bad maintenance
b) Arrogant staff.. Even if you want them to fix a small thing, you have to call atleast 10 times
c) Snow removal is one of the worst
d) They cheat you in gas bill. They offer you 50/50.. I dont believe them.
e) They have carpets (some of them as old as 10 years)
f) When it rains, you can expect some flood inside your apartment.
g) Kitchen in too small
h) Very bad club house

I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone. As a matter of fact, I work for a large company where employees are constantly looking for apartments. I always say, you don't want to live where I do! The condition of my building is very run down and dirty. The building generally smells very bad. There is one washer/dryer for 8 apts, good luck using them. The dryer is not worth putting a quarter in because it will not dry your clothes. Getting maintenance to fix something is a joke. If you are the type of person who wants to contact the leasing office everyday just to get one thing fixed, then this is the place for you! Snow removal just about does not exist and when they do plow, they plow the cars in. Upon move in, you should expect to kill 5-10 spiders a day only to have the leasing office tell you that it's normal. Terminex comes out every other Wednesday but that doesn't do much good. Parking is a nightmare on a daily basis. The only resolution given by the office is to buy a parking spot. The "billiards room" is a room with a pool table which is locked when the leasing office is closed. The cleaning job that is done to the apt prior to resident move in, is probably the worst cleaning job I've ever seen. There is pet hair mixed in with the paint on the wall because they were too lazy to clean prior to painting. The bathrooms are disguisting. Don't bring any furniture with you on your first day of move-in, dedicate that day to scrubbing, you'll need it. They also boast about how the gas bill is split 50/50, don't let them fool you. That bill is not anywhere based on your actual usage! So don't try to save money and keep your heat down, you're gonna pay regardless.

The only good thing about the place is the floor plan is nice and spacious.
Decent place to live but rent is too high for what you get.
Enjoyed my first years at The Village, which has beautiful grounds and great location.

Things now are much worse with owner-managed status. Owner showed his greed last year by getting some residents to pay half of gas bill for heat, though their lease specified gas was included in rent. Gas is NOT individually metered but is on RUBS prorata system ... unfair system.

Level of service is significantly down since Zaremba stopped managing the place in Dec. 06 -- insufficient snow removal, etc.
The new manager since last spring isn't interested in the residents quality of life and doesn't respond to problems. Another tenant told me the ceiling leaked badly and complaints produced no fix after 5 months.

Racketball/basketball court and computer have been down for months and management does nothing, though we are paying for these things.
EXCELLENT LOCATION AND SERVICE
After living at The Village at Mayfield for the past 5 years, I am sorry to have to leave. I am transferring to California for a job transfer. If it was not for the transfer I would never leave this wonderful place. The apartments were managed by a local management company but are now owner managed and many improvements have been made. The buildings are currently being re-sided and the property is undergoing a facelift. The location is excellent (close to 271). The complex sits in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood. It is the only garden style suites in the entire area.
The amentities are fantastic; swimming pool, 24 hour indoor raquetball court, 24 hour fitness center, business center, and beautiful party room for rentals. The resident socials are always great fun. The maintenance team is very quick to respond to service calls. The manager and office staff are AWESOME!! They are all friendly and sweet and very willing to address and solve issues. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone looking to move to Mayfield Village or Mayfield Heights area.

Greedy and insincere
The apartments are average. Many don't have a balcony/patio though. The upkeep of the property is okay. But my biggest complaint is with the leasing office which is loathe to return any money made in housing and car parking deposits. I still haven't got mine 7 months after leaving the place. The staff was not the friendliest and if you talk to them, they promise to call you back, which they almost never do.
PS - underground parking is hardly lit

This is the only honest review
I lived in village park from 2001-2003. The only Con I can mention is the high price of the apartment, $1100 for a 2bed, but the price of all living in mayfield is overpriced. The Pros are extremely nice upper scale residents in my building, using laundry was never an issue, the outdoor pool/hot tub was amazing, the landscaping is as nice as you could ask for, and the underground parking was a huge assett. also i saw alot of hot girls walking around, which is always nice. its very quiet and safe and enjoyed living there, you will too.

poor mgt. and lack sense of care to tenants
Before we moved in, we asked for clean on dirty areas. They never did anything as they promised. Requests for fixes always take long time, and the excuse is they're short of hand! It's a place where you pay that much and NOT get that much attention/services.

has it's problems, but it's a good place to live temporarily
i think that we are paying a huge amount of money for the space that we have. my neighbor upstairs has two extra rooms and she is paying about the same as we are, maybe $50 more. i have been happy with maintenance, they have fixed all of the problems that we have had. the manager is extremely helpful, and one member of the staff is okay, but one certain lady who works in the office is extremely nasty and won't help you at all. whenever i need to call up there for anything, i just ask directly for the manager, i don't even waste my time talking to the other people. we don't pay for the underground parking, and sometimes the free parking is ridiculous. the lot gets so full that people make their own spaces and you have to go find another surface lot to park in, and then walk to your apartment. also, there are cars in the parking lot that haven't moved for over six months. one has two flat tires. we have told the management about them taking up the valuable parking spots and they haven't had them towed yet. despite all these negatives, i would still recommend these apartments if you are only going to be there for a year or two. it is in a good area where i feel safe and shopping is right there. the actual apartments themselves are nice, pretty noise proof and roomy.

Dirty and they don't fix anything
Don't move here. The place is dirty and smells bad... people smoke inside the building and management doesn't do anything.
If something is broken they do all their best not to fix it... once I had a problem with heat noise and they told me to put something more noisy inside the room so I would not hear the heat... quite amazing!

Management has gone stupid
Village Park of Mayfield *was* okay, with decent parking (not without problems) and good maintenance, but they have recently come under new management that changes the rules every 4 hours. Extending the lease and then moving out was a ridiculous pain as they kept changing their "rules" on everything, from how much you had to pay extra to notification periods. And the staff has just turned rude. Various perks of the property, such as monthly picnics, have been eliminated as well.

Aside from that, there are only minor problems with this complex. Dumpsters are few and far between, causing many residents to walk a long time only to find an overflowing bin of filth. It sounds like something you can live with, but try it for a year and you'll be annoyed.

Also the apartment buildings have one washer and one dryer for eight apartments. If you're told "you never have to wait to use it" you are being lied to. Also, the dryers are completely worthless.

Parking can sometimes be out of control in the "free" lots, with many residents parking on the side and blocking access. Good luck in the winter, when you can expect your car to be buried in snow for two weeks (that was fun) due to snow being plowed directly into the cars.

Overall I will still recommend this place as it is still better than others in the area, but it has truly become an obnoxious place to live.
