very quiet place to live
I have been living at Grant Meadows for little over 6 months. Management makes sure things get done and is very personable. There is ample parking and the property is extremely quiet. I would recommend this proeperty. The apartments have been remodled with new kitchens and which look very nice. When I mvoed in all of my appliances and carpeting were brand new.

Horrible Place
I have lived here for almost 4 months and have had to move from 1 apartment to another. This place is a horrible place to live maintenance is horrible they cant do nothing right the 1st time when i moved in BOTH apartments the window locks were broken there are stains on the rugs holes in the walls broken and missing tiles in the bathroom, ive had to patch 3 holes in the 2nd apartment i moved into i didnt bother to go to maintenance because it would take them 5 days to patch 3 simple holes, the closet doors were put on backwards the radiator that runs along the walls of the apartment are broken the covers are broke on each angle and it takes nearly an hour and a half to heat up what kinda service is that?? Managament esp. at the front office are ignorant the new property manager Dina shes cocky and arrogant you cant go to her for nothing she gives you nothing but an attitude and always has something to say about other residents living there. Security is unbelievable i know neighbors that have had their cars broken into and 1 neighbor actually had her apartment broken into right across the hall from me when i was in the 1st apartment when i 1st moved in and Dina nor the LISS company didnt anything to help my 1 neighbor told me Dina's exact words were "What the hell do you want me to do about it? Thats not my problem" And Shes a property manager?!?! VERY UNPROFFESIONAL. And sence i have lived at the 2nd apartment i have seen the 8th district police there at least 4 or 5 times. And as far as noise is off the charts the people that live on the 2nd and 3rd floors have NO RESPECT for the people that live in the apartments below them, my neighbor above me stomps n bangs her feet constantly it is soo disturbing and irratating its redicilous and god forbid you go to the front office they will just tell you your hearing things. Grant Meadows is a dump and would not recommend this complex to anyone not even my worst enemy.

Pros and Cons List
I lived in Grant Meadows for 4 years while attending law school and found it to be an overall pleasant experience.

Pros:
- great parking availability, usually - late at night, can have to park further from apartment
- decent size apartment for the price
- Liss Mgmt replaces things much faster and without the hassle of previous mgmt (e.g. got new oven/stove in 2 days)
- nice, new windows
- good closet space
- very few bugs - I only encountered the occasional spider or little thing
- mainly nice management - have had some better than others, but overall good

Cons:
- expensive electric in summertime because of OLD air conditioner - which Liss Mgmt is saying they will replace
- parking lot lights are intermittently on
- one hot water heater per building means showers can get very cold or very hot depending on your neighbor's water usage
- carpeting is really cheap and comes up in fuzzies
- the snow removal leaves something to be desired - mainly an ice-free parking lot and step area...
- only 1 washer and dryer per building and they are too expensive
- high turnover in residents - I saw many a neighbor come and go
- can hear overhead residents quite clearly - footsteps, music, etc.
- people, for some reason, tend to park their car in the parking lot and play loud music
- when it rains heavily the parking lot located on the left side of the complex as you enter will flood around the non-draining drainage area, meaning you trek through rather deep water to get to your door
- high turnover in maintenance personnel - and they are increasingly inept

Hope this review helps you make your decision about whether or not to rent at Grant Meadows. It's not the best, or worst, place out there.
They should change the name to Grant Ghettos
If you want to live in the Northeast with the feel of North Philly then this your place. I am white and before this place I would consider myself open to all cultures. Since I moved here a year ago I have learned there are some races who are rude and are inconsiderate of others. Grant Meadows will rent to anyone with a pulse regardless of their previous rental records. You think you are getting a good deal with most utlities included. Not! Each building has one water heater for six units. That's right! You get burned when someone flushes the toilet while you are in the shower. I have to take a shower at midnight so I don't get burned by my neighbors. Then there is the smell from past animals. The fresh paint and rugs might make you think the odor is not there, but it is! The rugs are cheap. It has alreay ruined one of my vacuum cleaners, and yesterday I had to cut pieces from the bottom of my vaccum. If you want quiet then this is not the place for you. The hip-hop and the rap music battles between the apartments and the vehicle entering the parking lot at midnight will keep you awake. You can hear your neighbor beating the crap out of his girlfriend. I have called the police twice because of this type of situation. Nothing more creepy then hearing a woman cry out please don't kill me, put down the knife. My advice is run! Run like you have never run before. They have gone through two managements since I have been here. I am leaving soon and thank the Lord for helping me get through this tough time. Do yourself a favor and look somewheres else.

Liss Management will take anything to get your money.
I applied and was told to put $200 refundable security deposit. But when I saw how small the studio was for $540 plus electricity, I asked for my money back but LiSS management won't return it.

DO NOT MOVE HERE
I recently moved in June after living at Grant for 4 years. The maintenance staff has no idea what hey are doing. They are always short staffed and tell you that when you call. Our secure entrance was broken into 6 times. Broken glass was replaced by card board from a toilet paper box. The outside was never clean. My shower wall was board covering rotted tiles. When asked for it to be repaired I was told I would have to wait 6 months and then not be able to shower for two weeks. Closet doors fell of hinges. Air conditioners spewed black crud. Kitchen tiles peeled off floor. Fire alarms were set off with a hair dryer running or boiling water. Broken down cars take up parking spaces for tenants. Management does not have them removed. Loud neighbors, drinking in parking lot, lots off police activity. Don't live here alone. PLEASE CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO LIVE.

Nice apartment
I have been living here a year now. New managment has taken over and things has gotten better. When I had a problem with my ac oulet maintence came in within 2 hours to change outlets. Now that is service. No rodents, No noise, No problems. The area is quiet and clean.

Breaking and Entering
My first and worst experience in an apartment. I didn't have bug problems. I learned not to touch the top of the stove because the 3000 degree pilot light would burn your skin. I got used to the 35 Pakistanies and their musical celebrations at 3:00 in the morning. The back door would never be shut all the way - eh, what are you going to do? I was counting the days until my lease was up and just when I didn't think things could possibly get worse they did. I came home to find my apartment robbed. There was no forced entry so the manager took it upon herself to remind me that I left the door unlocked that day... over and over again as the cop was there checking things out. Thank god for her unique knowledge into my early morning habits. Otherwise, this robbery might appear as an inside job by the maintenance staff. But no, I must have left the door unlocked and, as luck would have it, that was the exact day that someone just happened to stop on by, entered my "secure" back door, and gave my door a try. It's almost as amazing as no one noticing a person or persons carrying out TV's, stereo equipment, CD's, etc. while management supposedly worked on a third floor apartment. I guess that kind of activity is normal for Grant Meadows thus no one gave it a second thought. It would explain the cop cars I saw in the parking lot on a weekly basis.

I would not recommend this to anyone
I have been a resident now for over 5 years. Current management is ignorant and disrespectful. In our unit there is supposed to be secure entrances. we are now going on 2 years and they still have not fixed the back enterance - meaning that anyone can enter at will. Nighttime lighting is poor along with the maintence personel. PLEASE bring back previous management and maintenence personel!!!!!

2 bad experiences
1-Before I moved in to my apartment, I was told that the last tenant had a cat. They told me that they removed the rugs and painted the whole apartment. I thought everything was going to be fine. I took a tour of the apartment before signing the lease and I couldn't smell the cat urine. I only smelled the fresh paint and new rugs.
I assumed the cat's litter box was in the living room closet because the closet smelled like cat urine. It was so embarrassing! Not only did my living room smell like cat urine, all of my coats smelled like cat urine also. Eventually I could not use the closet at all. Mgmt came and removed the rug in the closet again and again and still nothing worked. The smell was in the wood floor underneath the carpet-it took me to figure it out. I sent them a letter stating that I would not be paying rent until I was satisfied. After 2-3 months of me living in a smelly apartment, they finally moved me to another apartment. And yes, they did pay my moving expenses, but it was a hassle.

2-One day I can home (apt #1) to find out that my radiators had been bled while I was at work. I guess you're wondering how I knew. Well, the maintenance people used my new bath towels that were hanging up in the bathroom to soak up all of the water on my bedroom carpet. I guess they didn't know that water comes out when you bleed radiators.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!

SUCKS!!!!
Been living here for over 2 years and would DEFINITELY move out were it not for the hassle of moving. My first year here the rent was raised 2% OVER what they promised in the lease. Again, would have moved, but it would have cost me more to do so.
There´s been no less than 5 changes of the maintenance staff since I´ve been here.
Although they´re nice enough, it takes them 3 or 4 attempts to fix something. This is especially bad when you realize that there´s a lot that needs fixing. To be fair, it seems that the management corporation lets things go until absolutely necessary in order to save a few bucks.
The insides of the apartments are very old, don´t let the model fool you. Since the rent was, originally, inexpensive a lot of the faults were bearable. However, these guys raise rents every year. Therefore, the crappy service is getting harder to justify.
On the positive side, there´s adequate parking and the noise level isn´t that bad.
The

Yuck!
In my 2 years here there was nothing but problems with the apartment. The staff tried to be helpful but they could never get things right. They nicknamed it the apartment from hell. Maintenance staff is undertrained and sloppy. Staff used to laugh at the problems but then it became no joke. Wouldn´t move back or recommend.
