Nice place, but it us starting to slip a little. They don't keep the tennis courts clean. The pool has been closed for 10 days now in the hottest month of the year. I bet they don't 're-open it, some b.s. about a pump. More than likely they don't have the funds in this quarters budget. I will be gone when my lease is up.

Best Decision I've Made
My fiance and I have lived here for about 8 months now and we couldn't be any happier with our decision to move in here. Where to begin? For starters the location is great, its relatively close to everything you need, and whether you go to Pellissippi or UT its about equal distance at 15 to 20 min. away. More importantly, Mountain view apartments are located in a very safe and calm neighborhood, partially due to the fact that a middle school is about an eigth of a mile away, which is another big plus if you have little ones. Since we have been here, we have not had a single problem to be perfectly honest. Everything works as its supposed to in our apartment, the apt. is very spacious for a one bedroom and we love the layout, and the staff is very friendly, welcoming and on their game. One of my favorite things about this place is that it is generally very calm and quiet, everyone minds their own business and is pretty polite. Also these apartments are very pet friendly , and even has a very nice area to take your dogs to play or whatever you want to do along with a nice litte walking path that you can walk youre dogs on; on this note I will say that the only downside is that you do not get your pet deposit back and not all dog owners are courteous enought to pick up after their pets, which can be annoying. Overall, this place is awesome and perfect for my fiance and myself and we plan and being here for a while due to the fact that we love everything about this place. The only real con is the cabinets, they are strangely shaped and are hard to organize, but you get used to it so dont let that sway you away.

Really want to live here!!
This complex is beautiful. After viewing several, and when I say several I mean pretty much every apartment in the surrounding area and none seem quite as perfect. I have not lived here so I can not review that part, but Brittney from the office showed me an apartment and was very helpful and nice. Good management and customer care will tell you a lot about a place. I will definitely be visiting mountain view again when my current lease ends to see what kind of specials they are having and in hopes to find my perfect home :)

When we first moved in we were turned off by the dated appliances and carpet and over all appearance of the place but the location is nice and quiet and close to our jobs so we ignored all the aesthetics and decided to settle in here, then the bugs came to visit and have never left. Roaches, crickets, and stink bugs... hoards of them... the mulch around the building and the building itself is completely infested and all the management seems to do is have Orkin come once every so often and spray around a bit and it stops for a day and starts back up. We call all the time to management about getting this resolve and get very lackluster results ... in fact they say they'll send someone or follow up on the issue and nothing ever gets done.. and the exterminator doesn't show. The place used to be decent but new management has come in and since then it's turned into a worse dump than it was a few years ago, in fact the only thing they've "managed" to do is annoy me with useless door hangers and drive me to the point of breaking the lease with their infuriating lack of response to the obligations they have as land lords. The rent is too expensive for what they offer and climbing every year and they force you to pay a flat rate on water which is an absurd amount.

Wouldn't live anywhere else in Knox!
We are in our third year at Mountain View and I personally would not live anywhere else in Knox. When we first moved here I chose it because of this website and the fact that it had 100% in ratings at the time. I hate to see that the ratings have dropped as I would hate to think it will cause others to not choose Mountain View as their home. I was here when Jennifer was managing the property and she did a fabulous job, but I also think Courtney does wonderfully as well. Anytime I have ever had an issue, it was addressed in a timely manner. During the recent hail storm, our townhouse was flooded due to a blocked storm drain. Maintenance and carpet cleaners were at my home THAT NIGHT, not the next day when I expected them to be there. The area was still in storm/tornado warnings and I had staff at my house cleaning everything up for me. If I wasn't impressed before, I definitely was that night!! Some posters stated that the rent is expensive but personally I think you get what you pay for. If you want to pay less then you have to know you are going to be in a less desirable neighborhood (which this one is great!) and you may have safety issues to consider (I have never felt uneasy at this complex). All in all, Mountain View is quiet, a great neighborhood, and has staff that seem to want to do their jobs and take care of their tenants. Are the appliances a little outdated? Yes, but if you expect them to update everything, then expect a huge increase in prices...that's how it works people. Are there bugs? Yes, everywhere has a bug at one time or another. We actually had a 1 bedroom, basement apartment when we first moved here and that was when we had the worst bug problem (and that was under the old management, so don't go just blaming the new management for a overall Tennessee bug problem. Since moving to the townhouse last year, we really haven't noticed enough bugs to consider it a problem. I am from Florida, we have bugs, lizards, etc so an occasional bug doesn't freak me out. We have lived in many apartment complexes in various states and personally I have enjoyed my time at Mountain View and rate it high on my list of faves. Many thanks to the current (and past) staff for making me want to continue living here.

Hello again, It's Rob, updating my review to reflect the fact I had upgraded to a 2bed/2bath and sadly, have left Mountainview. While it was necessary as I have finished grad school in Knoxville and am now a fully licensed Pharmacist in the state of Tennessee (and soon Mississippi), this does give me an opportunity to further comment on the property as it pertains to a different unit, different location on the property and my thoughts on the moving out process. I will try to keep it brief as I should be studying for my Mississippi Law test that I'll be taking tmw, so I digress As always, I can't thank management enough for making my 3 years in Knoxville not only the most tolerable, but the most pleasant I could have hoped for. Courtney, Kelly, and you too Britney (wherever you are)... It is without a doubt my opinion that this location greatly aided me in studying for and obtaining my doctorate degree by always being there, and never making me worry about a single thing in regards to housing. Thank you. Anywho, to the juicy stuff. In the last 2 years I had upgraded to a 2bed/2bath and begin living with my girlfriend and never looked back. The extra space is well needed and the washer/dryer hookups are a godsend. We jumped into a unit that had newer appliances (bigger fridge, oven/stove, etc). While these appliances are newer I still remember my old '70s stove/oven combo from my 1bed/bath unit and can tell you whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed. I also had a unit that had a screened in patio overlooking the south side of the complex. In my last review I forgot to mention I lived on the north side had a patio overlooking a shady tree'd walking path (always had little squirrels running around outside there to keep me entertained). But the upgraded view was certainly a change. Big expansive grass area, big trees (hiding adjacent property housing) and in the distance mountains..... actual mountains.... hehe... Mountainview... lol sorry I just pieced that together. Anyways, The unit was an even better bargain than the 1bed/bath. Moving in we had local moving crew do all the heavy lifting (which I would highly recommend Gouffon moving company - they moved me and my girlfriend from 2 separate locations across town, loaded/unloaded everything into 1 unit and did all of this in less than a couple of hours and were really well priced). Lamar still had great pricing on Comcast (boy do I miss it now that I've moved and am having to pay almost $100 more a month for the same service... ugh) Once again, I have to mention the maintenance crew. Always helpful, friendly and would bend over backwards to help us out. We had a toilet out of nowhere start to overflow whenever you put ANYTHING in it... Jeff came out, router-rooted it and it continued to overflow... SO he says, "ok, she's going, you're getting a new toilet and Im gonna smash this thing to bits to see what's inside" ... hahaha. Come to find out a hair drain (like in the bottom of the tub) had been lodged in it for quite some time and finally started causing mayhem. But you know what, maintenance didn't just give up and say live with it. He gave me a brand new toilet and made the problem I had personal. You can't buy people who take a property to heart quite like these people. Thanks guys, you are the best. Finally I get to comment on the moving out process. I am now working as a pharmacist in the Memphis area. Knoxville is gone, and I miss it. 1st things first. I want to list steps I have taken to make smooth transitions from apt to apt over my last 10 years and it hasn't failed me yet. 1. "What do I need to do before I move out?" These words should come out of your mouth roughly 3 months before you actually leave. And they should be asked to management... If they are not said, I have no sympathy for you. 2. Make sure you utilize the "this is what's broken/damaged/etc form" every apt complex gives you day one. I have always filled it out in excruciating detail, kept a copy and have never had problems with monetary discrepancies when leaving a property... If you did not fill this out, I have no sympathy for you. 3. Take care of your space. Life is about upkeep. Treat the space you own (even if for the time being) like you care about it. After all, you're the one that has to live in it. If you treat it like a barn, I have no sympathy for you. And that's it, more specific to Mountainview, I took my steps and have just received my deposit in full back in the mail. I have not received any erroneous bill stating I owe tons of money for anything, and I don't expect to. Once again, I can't highlight this property enough in comparison to others in Knoxville. I have several colleagues that lived all across town and never once have heard/seen anyone as happy with a property as I am. So until next time Knoxville. It's been fun. And Mountainview, keep doing what you've done with me for 3 years and you will be as prosperous as ever. Thanks for reading my review... now... back to studying Mississppi Pharmacy Law.... Bleh... -Rob

A Bargain for Pet Owners
I moved to Mountain View because they allowed pets and it was reasonably priced as well as it seemed to be well maintained. To my good fortunate the property in fact turned out to be very well managed. The staff are friendly and quickly dealt (within 24 hrs) with any problems I had with appliances, etc... The grounds are very well maintained...nice place to walk the dog. In addition, the suburban area it is located in is a great place to run, walk the dog, and close to west Knoxville attractions. If I needed to return to apt life I would definitely reture to Mountain View.

Not bad
I moved here because it is close to my job. Everything is pretty decent. The appliances are old. The dishwasher is too old and doesn't clean the silverware properly. Stink bugs do get in my apartment from time to time. The noise level is not bad. Most people here seem to go to bed at a decent hour. Sometimes it is difficult finding a parking spot near my apartment, but it's not too bad usually. The flat fee for water is ridiculous. Bill me for what I use, not based on some broad "audit" estimate, that we are not even able to see. A three bedroom home is billed for less on a water bill than I am, and I live in a one BR by myself. Kind of stupid, but I'm sure the property company, RAM, enjoys my extra money. I'd recommend living here I suppose. The water bill thing is almost a deal-breaker though.

Gone Downhill Fast
I lived there 3 1/2 years, and have watched the ground deteriorate quickly. Bugs, leaky pipes, and dog manure everywhere. The laundry facility hasn't been in fully working order in 2 years, but yet the rent continues to climb. You just about need a divorce lawyer to leave at the end of the lease. I don't recommend it under the current management.

Well. Rent increases. pretty steep. Compared to other apartments around the area (which are more updated), Mountain View has quite a price tag. Not sure why this is. The office didn't really have an answer either. I'm guessing they're trying to "save up" money to start replacing all the old appliances. In any case, I've been here for 2 years. The location is decent, it's very safe, very quiet (hardly any children) and the maintenance is super fast and very nice. Never had a problem with parking - plenty of it where I am. Never had a problem with dog waste (but frequently get "clean up your dog crap" warning notices on my door - depsite not having a dog). As people have mentioned, there was quite a bug infestation. I wanted to move out because I don't handle roaches (huge water bugs - like Florida palmettos), crickets and love bugs very well. I was terrified to walk around at night and was afraid to use the dishwasher and under the cabinets for the entire summer. Had to call the office several times with hardly any luck from the repeated pest control. They finally changed pest control companies before winter. So, I'm not sure if it will be better this year or not. Guess we'll see after winter. I should note, I have noticed Tennessee has loads of insects - more than I've ever dealt with in other states. So I'm sure this isn't just a Mountain View issue. I just wish they could somehow prevent the insects getting in through all the pipes. I've never dealt with anything like it in my life. Appliances, counters, cabinets are outdated. They all serve their purpose and I havent had any problems with them. The stoves actually look kind of cool because they're bordering on vintage. Landscaping and grounds are beautiful. Also a tennis court and a pool. There's a flat water utilities payment for $50 a month... which I think is pretty steep. I'd rather pay for what i actually use. So, I would recommend it. I would recommend it to older folks or young professionals.

HORRIBLE
This was a decent place to live a few years ago but things have gone downhill with an alarming quickness. There is a HUGE bug issue...cockroaches that are at least 2 inches long, wasps, and a total infestation of stinkbugs. The stinkbugs are EVERYWHERE. They refuse to insulate the pipes so during the winter you must run water at all times or the pipes will burst. The office hours are incredibly inconvenient so if you need to pick up a package good luck. The office staff is always on the phone with personal calls so if you're lucky enough to be able to actually get your package they won't actually speak to you. Dogs are allowed to use the bathroom all over the place and no one cleans it up and nothing is ever done about it. The rent has increased astronomically over the past few years and yet the services have gotten much worse. I regret everyday that I renewed my lease and will absolutely not be renewing again. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE.

Beautiful Property and Great Service
I saw this last comment about nasty and bugs everywhere. I decided that upon renewing my lease I would look around to see if this was still the best place for me. There have been some concerns in regards to bugs in my apartment recently also, however I spoke with Courtney and Bethany in the office and they informed me of all the work being done and why we may be having an issue. They said their pest control company said since the weather was so extremely hot this summer they have seen an increase in pest throughout the apartment communities. Every question I asked they had an answer or said they would find out. I say if you have a problem take it to the office. The property has definetly turned for the better with the new staff. I definetly plan to stay because the service is outstanding. Im sorry that one of my fellow neighbors disagrees.

Nasty...bugs EVERYWHERE
Mountain View used to be nice until Jennifer left. Now the new management does not spray for bugs every month and will let just about anyone move into the complex. They do not fix things withing a 48 hour time limit which is the HUD mandate, and the bug problem is out of control. I have called over and over again and my apartment has not been sprayed in four months. I have cockroaches that are two inces long. I am speaking with a HUD attorney to try to get out of my lease. DO NOT MOVE INTO MOUNTAIN VIEW!

Pretty... Pretty... Pretty... Good
Overall, I love Mountain View. We actually ended up here based on the reviews here on Apartment Ratings. Good: -quiet -nice grounds/landscaping -VERY friendly management staff -location -plenty of parking -safe -clean apartments when you move in -townhomes are staggered - so you don't have to have your back patio right next to anyone. this means there is virtually no noise from the neighbors. Not so good: -expensive flat water fee -laundry hook-ups are on the second floor. Also, the laundry facilities don't seem to include a larger washing machine for blankets/comforters. There isn't really a laundromat close by. -kitchen is pretty outdated. Our stove and fridge look like they're from the 70's at least. But they are very clean and work! I just figured for the price of the rent, there should be newer appliances and cabinets I would suggest you put Mountain View on your list of apartments to check out if you're looking for a safe, well-maintained property with an extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Great place to live!!
I love Mountainview Apartments! They have been a great place to live. With the economy declining as it has, it is going to be more economical for me to get a house. So, I will be moving out (sadly) in April. The office staff is fantastic as Jennifer is always on top of everything. Maintenance calls are always addressed within 24 hours and are always fixed right the first time. Appliances and cabinets are really old but everything still works great! You don't notice once you get all of your stuff moved in. Pets are allowed but there is a big deposit for each pet. Rent (I thought) was a little on the high side for a 1BR/1Bath but you do get what you pay for plus more. I can't say anything negative against Mountainview. If you need a great apartment at a great location then this is your new home.

Loved Mountainview
I lived in a 2 bedroom townhome for 2 years. I wish I still lived there but I couldn't afford it on my own after a roomate moved out. I loved living at Mountainview. It's so quiet and the neighborhood is so pretty. Jennifer, the manager, is very nice and the maintence is great. I always felt welcome when I went in the office. Neighbors are very friendly. It's in a perfect area; you are close to everything.

Fantastic apartments
I moved to Knoxville for my job in October of 2007. I've been here ever since and just renewed my lease. Safety was my number one priority. I feel safe here and have had no problems at all. Its quiet and the neighborhood is great. This is not for the college student looking for a place to party. It is professionals and small families for the most part. Maintenance is always on top of areas needing tended to(though problems are few and far between). The layouts are wonderful. It isn't your typical square apartment. It makes it feel more like a home. My only complaint is the fact that the appliances are old, but they work fine. Its just a cosmetic issue, but once you get your stuff in, you'll hardly notice it.

Loved living there
My family moved from Florida to Knoxville and we rented an appartment at Mountainview and the only reason we moved out is because we bought a house. The manager, Jennifer is very nice and Jeff, the maintenance man is great, helpful and very fast. The neighbors are friendly and quiet. The apartments are nice, they have lots of windows and I loved the light and bright rooms. The landscape is nice, however, I agree with previous review: there are lots of dog poop around, although it didn't bother me. The problem is if you live close to the pool, chances are there you will hear some loud people swimming after hours, even though the pool is supposed to be closed at night. But the administration is very willing to help and there is a phone number to call in case the noise is keeping you awake. Parking is not a problem and the apartments are conveniently located close to major stores and away from traffic.

Absolute Pleasure!
This is an amazing apartment complex. The office staff is kind and courteous, the neighbors are friendly, the appearance of the buildings is wonderful. There is VERY little noise from the apartments on either side or above you, and there is more than enough parking to go around. Overall, a great experience!

However, there are only a couple of small (very small) complaints:

1. Landscaping is great, but for a couple of days after the landscapers lay down the mulch there is a HORRIBLE odor. Do not even think of opening your windows or doors during this time.

2. No one cleans up after their dogs, so do not step on the grass unless you watch every single step.

3. Appliances and cabinets are OLD! It looks as if they are from the 70's, but they work well and I suppose that is all that matters!

Keep up the awesome work Mountain View! I couldn't be any happier!

New Knoxvillian - loved Mountainview
I requested that Apartmentratings.com add mountainview so that I could shout its praises to all those either moving to Knox or changing locations within the area.
Lived at MV for just 6 mos prior to relocating, but recall the whole experience fondly. Great staff, great floorplans, nice pool, great location (easy access to Kingston Pike, downtown, airport and Smokies). A concern about some wear and tear on the apt. (previous tennant's fault)was addressed immediately.

It should be said that I took my Apartment search a little too seriosuly, probably, but don't regret it - confident that Mountainview is the best complex in its price range and locale (don't be lured by ammenities at nearby SC apartments - a friend lived there and the service and space don't stand up to Mountainview).

Happy hunting...
