Worst Apt. Experience Since 1990
If the mold, unsafe wiring, exterior lighting, and written repair requests that never get fixed don't make you break your lease then your awful neighbors & mgmt will.

Helluva way not to live!

Terrible! I left as soon as I could!
This is absolutely the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. The maintance and the management are horrible. I have had nothing but problems since day one (some of which satill have not been addressed). I was without AC for four days last summer and since it was a weekend, they would not send anyone to fix it. I was told that I was more than welcome to stay at a Hotel (at my own expense of course). I recently had an electrical fire on my stove that burned a hole through the bottome of my pan and ruined the burner. It took them a week to come fix it. That was a month ago, it still makes popping and crackling sounds like there is still a short somewhere, but they keep insisting that it is fine. The appliances are old, dishwasher doesn't work, tiles in the shower are constantly falling out, apartment walls and vent are so bad that I can smell my neighbors nasty food everytime they cook. When my other neighbors are smoking pot, the smell comes into my apartment via the large crack under my door (that they were going to fix 2 years ago). The walls and the winows are so thin, you can hear absolutely everything that goes on around you.

OMG! : ( "100% WORST MGMT SINCE 1999"
Yes, this is an older complex with many interior imperfections we label as 'charm'. However, we had previously lived in the exact same year built well maintained and updated apt, so imagine our disappointment.
Sometimes the staff will make all the difference: Unneutered animal spray scent permeated carpet entire 2bdrm apt. Every other month friendly tarantala spiders will pay you a visit but since pest control denied their existence as well as the daily ant trails in the kitchen and both bathrms, we have to rate the staff well below the honest human standards. Now your sweet 'student' neighbors and then some, will host heart-pounding parties 3-4 days per week but never fear, the security patrol will claim they have never received a noise complaint and will definitely drive by the offending apt bldg and telepathically request no loud music after 5am. Honest! But if you choose to experience "B"etter decades gone by, "E"very day you wish you live in the actual bent tree instead of your apt, "N"one of the staff is truly qualified for anything, "T"otally excellent booze & drug party place, rest assured your shindigs will go uninterrupted 24/7.
Thank goodness the location, price, & layout is good, so hurry on over deviants, miscreants, potheads, and molesters. You will have your too easy(hmm)& too wide of a choice(hmm?)apts to call home sweet home. RESPECTABLE PERSONS WILL BE OUT OF THEIR HELL BENT TREE MIND TO LEASE HERE.

Enjoyed entire 4 years of residence
I not only enjoyed the landscaping and appearance of the property, but the staff, service, and other residents were top-notch. Maintainence requests were always handled same day, the staff worked with me the one time I had a rent-due issue, and the other residents were much like myself. We sometimes tolerated each other´s loud radios but that was an agreement between ourselves. I was also compensated through my rent one time when the air-conditioner went out. It was replaced very quickly however with a brand new unit. I had to move out due to unrelated issues and am trying to locate another complex that can compare to my favorable Bent Tree experience.

think twice before moving here
I have lived at Bent Tree for longer than I would like to admit. It was great at first, but since management changed it has gone hill slowly but surely. It does not appear that the office staff cares to much about the property or people living here. I am just to busy to move, but I think that is getting ready to change. There are so many dangerous situations here, whether it involves the people that live here or the condition of the property in general. Lots of loose wires not covered, very much a hazard..and just the overall appearance is ugly these days. I think they need a whole new office staff to come in and brighten this place back up, like it use to be!

I would not recommend anyone moving in until they make some changes with the management.

Unfavorable Experience
My wife and I moved in mid July of 2003. The living experience is the worse I´ve had since renting apartments from 1992.

Positives:
1) Apartment Manager is helpful
2) Rent is very affordable

Negatives:
1) Cigarette smoke smell leaks from neighbors
2) Had to call Police a few times because of loud music. Extremely loud music(our whole apartment vibrated with the bass) at 3:00 in the MORNING on WEEKDAYS. Really bad.
3) Carpets were a little dirty upon moving in.
4) Distinct animal smell upon moving in.
5) Walls are paper thin.

Overall, a bad experience. I will not recommend this place.
The Worst Experience of Our Lives
Run as fast as you can! This place defined the word "------". The very day we moved into this place, the a/c had broken in the middle of the summer. Maintainence was quick to take care of that problem. But then it came to the point to where it was one thing after the other. The blind would not work, all the doors had problems either with opening or closing, my frigerator door even fell off!!!! The dishwasher broke and I was without one for over 1 month because " it takes a while for them to deliver the parts to us" !! And don´t even get me started on how thin those wall are. You could hear the people above us turning in their beds as they slept. And the place was extremely scary at night. Not the best location to feel safe in. The rent is so cheap and now I do believe in " you get what you pay for. "

Couldn´t pay me to move back...
This complex is the worst experience my husband and I have ever had. It is not maintained well, and good help is hard to get. It took 4 visits to get our refrigerator to stop leaking, and when the wallpaper started peeling, they tried repairing it with a glus gun! The worst part was the staff and owner. When a fellow resident got drunk and attacked my husband, the complex refused to do anything about it. The resident was arrested and taken to jailfor the incident, in which he tried to get my husband into his apartment for an unknow reason, and then tried to come after me. The resident also stalked us (watched us from window, etc.) until we finally were able to move out. The apartment´s only suggestion was that WE should have to pay the costs to switch apartments. What a horrible experiecne. No one should ever willingly move here - what a nightmare!

I agree - best to keep looking
I only lived at Bent Tree for six months. I also lived there during the time a young woman was beaten by her boyfriend with a hammer. Also my neighbor next door had touretts syndrome; I thought at first he was just excited about the San Antonio Spurs winning in 2000! You get what you pay for though. The place I had (a one bedroom) had a lot of square footage for the price. However the low rent attracted many college students and other unemployed people that loved to party all night.

RUN! FAST!
Okay. So maybe you like the location. It is great and the views from the apartments are nice, but...don´t waste your money or sanity. I was too lazy to move, so don´t make the mistake of moving in to begin with.

During the three years I lived there, a girl was beat up in the parking lot by her boyfriend, the police had a stand off with an estranged husband who beat his wife (to death? Never found out) with a hammer, and nice the frat guys next door decided their pet alligator (YES, ALLIGATOR) was too big for the bathtub so they turned him loose in the swimming pool (to bath, of course).

And I will spare you the details of the tarantella and possum problems!

One final thought...the walls are very thin! I bushed my teeth every morning to the sounds of my neighbor having sex in his bathroom. Awh...if we could all be 22 again.
