Happy Place to Live
I live in The Ashby for about one year and it has been good. I work evenings and its nice to come home to a place where I feel safe. Everyone who works here is patient and they are easy to talk to. They never make you feel like you are bothering them. I moved from my previous place because the office staff was very bad. I have only been here a little over a year and I have no complaints. I love living here and its because this place is very welcoming. I am so happy I found this place.

Great Location
I work in Bethesda, Md and the commute is great. The Ashby is in a quite location but its close to stores. I just renewed my lease for a second year because I don't see myself leaving anytime soon. This place is quite, clean, and everyone here is very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make us happy.

Bonus
I moved into this place for the schools, and the distance to my job. What I didn't know was, that living here, I'd have a helpfull office staff, NO parking issues, and the convenience of walking to restaurants. As apartments go, my two bedroom is a great size for the money and my family has peace of mind.

Best Place to Live
If you are looking for a great place to live, The Ashby at McLean is the PLACE!! Their schools are the best, the apartment homes are beautiful, and no one can beat their location!!! But what makes this place the greatest is the office staff!!! They are amazing. The leasing office has the best ladies around, they are three ladies who love their residents and will go out of their way to prove it. They are great from the moment you walk in to the moment you move out of the property. They have a front desk (24) and almost all their staff lives on the property which makes it very comforting. This place is quiet and has the nicest residents around. This apartment community is always clean and parking is always available. Give this place a try and you will realize what you have been missing.

Are you kidding?
Besides dealing with ridiculous neighbor noise since moving in last summer, I have received two electric bills for Jan and Feb, one totaling almost $200 and this last one over $200. I live in a one bedroom apartment!!! I have left the heat on at 64 degrees when I am home and 58 degrees at night. I have left it off most of March and been sick for almost 4 weeks probably as a result of not leaving the heat on for most of March due to the shock of just January's electric bill. SOMETHING with this place is sincerely WRONG. Almost everything possible has broken as well, to include the heater since I have moved in. Stay away, stay far away.

It's a quiet place but management could do better.
I like the quiet atmosphere and it is a great location. Also, I've been please with the maintenance crew. However, I feel that management could do a better job of cleaning the place up and listening to the renters when they voice their concerns.

Its not a nice place to live
The management office is very unprofessional regardless of the renter's age and just doesn't care about the issues you address. Noisy neighbors are becoming an issue for Fairfax Police to deal with. This is not a home, its a zoo with a young person on staff who needs to do her job when young adults run through the hallways chasing others like children as well. Is WRIT aware of the lousy place this is turning into? An elevator has been broken for over a week.

Management staff has gotten so bad that we are moving out
It used to be a very nice place to live. But now the current staff treats the tenants with utter contempt, particularly the elderly.

Very safe and quiet place
I have found the Ashby to be a very safe and quiet location. Considerate staff, all common areas are kept very clean and nice pool. Not cheap, but I don't think anywhere around the immediate area is inexpensive, but my electric bills have been very low.

Best place to be in NoVA
Moved here over a year ago and have really been very pleased. The staff is terrfic - they've gone out of their way from responding to requests beyond their responsibilities.

Convenience is incredible - something that's rare in this area. Just a quick local road and I'm on 495 or 267, 66, etc. Love having great little restaurants and shopping that you can walk to.

The apartments are huge compared to those wood frame hideous things called communities that are newer. Here, it is cement floors - you cannot hear a peep from anyone. Well built, haven't even felt the cold as I sat under the window in the winter. Hot water is very hot and the water pressure is terrific (I love my showers).

Unlike the wood frame buildings I scouted around here, you don't have to pay for water or any other fees. Not for the pool, the exercise center or the business center. The heat is switched over twice a year (air conditioning and heater) - not really a big deal, I've lived in cities all over and its the same. Don't know how they do it, but last winter my electric bill (which includes heat) was around $45 a month. When was the last time you paid an electric bill that low?

Parking is good, always find a spot. Like the garage in the winter tho', it beats the cold.

Yeah, there's a few older folks here, but also young families and 20-40 somethings professionals. They've all been quite friendly and I've always felt safe here. Security is great - important if you're single.

So, to the person who made the comment that the previous comment sounded like something from a catalog - well, before you spout off your cynic words, get off your backend and check it out. Trust me, been everywhere in this area, and it was the best place around (space, price, convenience, service).

Enjoy!

Awesome Staff and Location
This is a great apartment complex to call your home. Excellent customer service from the staff and amazing apartments. Located in the center of downtown McLean, Virginia, this complex is close to 395, 66, and 495. Also, walking distance to shopping makes it really convenient. Plus, there is a 24 hour front desk that accepts packages and will call maintenance for emergencies. Also, there are great amenities, 24 hour fitness center and huge swimming pool. I would highly recommend this place. What a gem!

Terrible place to live.
If you are a spinster cat lady you will love this place. I have never seen such a collection of crabby old women. If you are looking for that special place before you bite the big one, then this is it.
