Overall it's a good place to live. Since being bought by Greystar they're trying to clean the place up. Our renovated unit was only partially renovated. The same dipping cabinets with new doors, old toilets, new stove and dishwasher. The carpet is super cheap. Great lanoleum though! Maintenance responds to requests very quickly and tends to go a good job. A lot of the tenants don't pick up after their dogs, which is gross, but not Brackett's fault. Not enough carports for everyone, but we've always been able to find parking spots.

I have lived at these apartments for 2 1/2 years. Previous management companies for the property have not been great, since Greystar took over, service has been outstanding. I rent an apartment that has not yet been updated, but any time I have had problems (i.e. broken dishwasher, noisy dryer), maintenance has come out the next day to fix the problem. Additionally, the outer glass on my patio slider door was hit with/by something, and the management took the responsibility of fixing it without me having to go through my renter's insurance. The biggest thing I can say about Brackett Apartments is that if management is notified of a problem, they are quick to address it and let you know how you can improve the situation yourself. And, you can easily contact them by phone and by email with a same day return call. One challenge that the apartments have had in the past is people dumping/scavenging in the garbage area. I guess this is a problem with any unsupervised area like this, but unlike many other places, Brackett has a 24-hour security contact that will address anyone suspicious. Overall, I LOVE these apartments! The location is convenient, generally safe, and quiet. I highly recommend Bracket Apartments.

Over 4 years I lived here. The only reason I stayed was for the school district and close to work. There is absolutely no parking after 7pm. Neighbors would have lots of company and take up parking. We were allowed 1 car per adult in each unit, however multiple reports of neighbors owning 4-6 vehicles per unit were ignored. Motorcycles parked for winter and never moved took up critical spaces so we couldn't park at our own home. There is nowhere else to park in the area either. One night I came home at 2 am and parked in one of the multiple empty handicapped spots, as I circled for almost 40 minutes. At 8 am I found a $450 ticket on my car. The units were in horrible condition. Upon move out, I hired a professional cleaner because they charged me a $1300 deposit. I received a letter stating I would get a full refund. This was only fair because they were about to completely gut and remodel the unit. Then I received a revised statement saying they were taking several hundred dollars away for pest control 'flea treatment'! I did not have fleas! I didn't have any pets! And I'm highly allergic to fleas so I would have called them immediately if hat happened. And they were ripping all the flooring out anyways! I had no say over that and they took my money. The construction over the summer was unbearable. Loud, banging, workers peeping in our windows, broke several of my items that were in the Windows. No offer to replace the damage caused. My rent DOUBLED within 4 years. I have never been so glad to be out of a place in my life.

My boyfriend and I lived here for a few months at the end of 2015 while we waited to close on our house. It was only place that would accept our Dog in the area so despite the bad reviews we had to do it. This property is trying to revamp (aesthetically) but completely misses the boat with quality and customer service. Multiple things were install improperly when we moved in causing issues like a flooded kitchen, screeching closet doors, broken heaters (in the middle of winter), and the inability to open our refrigerator drawer. Communication among the staff was very poor and they always blame another staff member when a mistake was made. Upon our move out day, we were told no one was available to inspect the home with us. They instead inspected the apartment on their own and kept several hundred dollars of our deposit when we left it in AT LEAST as good condition as it was given to us. I was told by a staff member that the refundable pet deposit wasn't really refundable (I'm serious). Other issues to know about: walkway flooded when raining (never addressed), parking very hard to find close to apartment, amenities like hot tub closed without notice, no response to email despite their request for tenants to email them with questions/concerns, children regularly playing on equipment in gym. The staff members were mostly nice despite incompetence in several areas. I think the real issue is management.

When we first moved here a year ago, everything looked nice. Staff was friendly. After living here for almost a year there have been alot of issues mostly worth parking. There's no assigned parking unless you want to spend an extra 40 dollars a month for a covered space which is not close to buildings. There is literally no parking spaces after about 7 pm. There are so many people who live here that the office doesn't know who even lives here and who owns which car. I've had to put maintenance requests in about 10 times since we have lived here and multiple times to get certain things fixed that they never fixed the first or second time. Mantienence does come within one to two days which is good. I lived here over the summer and they closed the swimming pool 3 times :( I went to use the hot tub one night and the hot tub was way over temperature and I couldn't put my feet in without getting burned. I would not recommend moving here at all! This place looks great, but it's owned by a money hungry property management company!

When I moved in almost 4 years ago, everything was perfect. The grounds were perfectly kept, lots of parking, great neighbors and always quiet. You could hear a pin drop at night. 2 years in, they sold to another property management company. Everything went to hell. My rent started at $890 a month, and 4 property managers later my renewal is over $1500. Water, sewer, garbage is SHARED between all. There is no parking at night. If you come home after 9pm, expect to park at Firdale Market and walk home, or drive in circles for an hour hoping someone leaves. Dog crap everywhere. Tons of plumbing issues and very old appliances. Maintenance just unlocks your door and comes in. The new management team seems very nice and much more willing to work with you, just they are overwhelmed.

I lived in Firdale Village for almost 5 years. The management team in the office never seemed to have a clue what was going on or who lived there. It was loud, never had enough parking, and unsafe. I found black mold in my closet and was told it was because I didn't clean the apartment up to their standards and should always leave a window open. How safe is that for a single woman on the ground floor? I personally have never lived anywhere that i had to clean my closets out with bleach every month. One of my neighbors moved her unemployed son in with her that was mentally unstable. He would get drunk, fight with his mother, sit on the stairs cussing at everyone, and once sat there with a rifle saying he was going kill someone. The office management said they couldn't do anything because he wasn't on the lease and they couldn't prove he was living there. He was arrested several times, but always ended up back at his mother's apartment. I was happy to finally move out of there alive and would not recommend Firdale Village Apartments to anyone. EVER!

Moving is hardly ever something people enjoy doing. We had decided to move from a rental house in north Seattle area when we got served with a 30% increase in April. Since I have some friends who just moved to Shoreline and I work in the Edmonds area, we decided to head north. Firdale was our first property to look at... and It was the only property we looked at. We arrived at the apartments a little after 5 on a Friday without an appointment and the gentleman who greeted us was super friendly and literally everyone in the office said hello to us like we were their first customer of the day. We toured the apartment complex grounds which were so nice and CLEAN and inside a new remodeled apartment and an older, but very nice apartment. We love that our dog has space to walk around and tons of greenery. The only not so awesome thing we saw was some of the people had really beat up cars and a some not so quiet voices, like yelling. I actually could see the awkward look on the sales guys face and felt pretty bad. We went back to the office and agreed to come back the next day after viewing another appointment we had set up. As we were leaving, we ran into some current tenants who were waiting by the coffee area and said they would have given this place 1 star a few weeks ago, but just finished renewing their lease because of the new staff and what a good impression they gave. My partner and I made the decision to come back the next morning and we did. We look forward to moving in and would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a nice, clean complex with reasonable rents (considering the proximity to Seattle) you should definitely consider Firdale.

Do not rent here. Rent went up $100 for a year lease renewal and $477 to do month to month. Don't you want residents to come back? Guess not. Stuff stays broken for a week until you threaten legal action. Pet rent went up and Dogs poop all over with no clean up. Dead cars are parked all over the lots and don't pay to park under cover, it's free because they don't tow anyone! The manager is rude and doesn't care about tenants and doesn't care to lift a finger to work. Mold in the apartment and the carpets stink. Cabinets are 30 years old and falling apart along side the appliances. Pool is not heated and workout equipment is ancient, too. Only plus, it's convenient to Costco and the park and ride. It's expensive to live in this poop-can of a place and you would be better off paying $100 more to not live here.

I've lived here for a few years, and was completely content when we first moved in. Our neighbors were great, kept to themselves, but were friendly. Then, several new neighbors moved in and all of them are extremely loud ALL THE TIME (after 10pm, prior to 7am) on a daily basis. Doors slamming, stomping, yelling, screeching... After several complaints to the office, we were told "They can't do anything because noise is subjective." Clearly, it's "just us being overly sensitive" after not having had an issue with noise for a few years... They also have several parking and driving rules through the complex (including a speed limit), which no one follows, and no one enforces. My car has never had so many door dings. People here are extremely inconsiderate and park horribly. No one picks up after their dog, and no one follows the leash rule, nor the rule saying you won't stake a rope outside and let your dog hang out. Again, just like the car rules, no one enforces. The apartments themselves are meh. Poorly insulated, old windows, old cabinets, old appliances, and excessive moisture which causes mold. The maintenance team is actually extremely nice, helpful, and responsive (hence the 2 stars versus 1); although it wasn't always that way. The initial maintenance team, who thankfully is no longer here, tried to pin a bunch of water damage on me and my animals after my apartment flooded due to their error and the leasing office did nothing about it. All in all, I can't wait to get the heck out of here. It's been an experience that gets worse and more frustrating every week.

Please!!!!! Do not rent this apartment they will make you broke and try to make you stuck with them. One time I already paid for my rent then they lose the check and send me a letter told me that I have not pay for rent and me to vacant my room. But when I show them the receipt that I paid for it then they found the check but the manager there never said sorry for that. When move in at first year $790 2nd year $808. now they raise $930.

I'm a current resident here, and have not had a good experience. When you first move in they make it sound so easy and make it a point to skim through the details about fees. We has to deal with contractors coming in and out of our place for over three months last year. Mostly to fix the mistakes the previous contractors made. Whole ceilings ripped out, we we're left in the winter cold for several nights with a hole above our heads. The heat was no help. They did not offer any apology or offer a discount due to the inconvenience. We were tired of it. So we asked if we could transfer to a different apartment where we'd hopefully have less issues. No such luck. After charging us over two grand for transferring, plus making us pay for ridiculous fees like a heat lamp that had been taken out by one of their contractors! It tools weeks of complaining and calling to sort the mess out, not to mention get the new apartment fixed up because there was so much wrong with it (dirty carpet, broken heater and oven, leaky fridge and no weather strip on front door). I ended up calling and crying to them because I was so fed up with how money hungry and uncaring they are. I know they have a lot of people living here but really? Oh not to mention the gunshots the other night, possible kidnapping I reported and constant vandalism to the cars. Needless to say, as a woman, I don't go outside past dark and we're getting the heck out of here asap. Once we pay the ridiculous moving out fees AGAIN. do not move here unless you're ready to fight with the staff about everything.

The apartments are well built, well maintained and the staff does their job. They will fix pretty much anything you ask. Twice they have even replaced standard light bulbs, and once the smoke detector battery - just a couple examples. We have an updated 2 bed 2 bath. The only thing I dislike is how small the bathrooms and bedrooms are. It's pretty much just a basic box to live out of. But if you're an active adult who doesn't spend too much time at home and doesn't want to dish out a lot for rent, then this place will certainly suit your needs.

I have read through some of the reviews and quite honestly I agree with some and disagree with others. Overall the staff really doesn't bother me. Drew is really the only one I correspond with and he's amazing. It just seems like something is always wrong with my apartment and when I called in the beginning (I have given up now) it sort of half --- gets done. First my fridge didn't work the day I moved in and they were super cool about getting me a new one. Now it turns off and the freezer melts my ice cream and then turns back on and refreezes it. So annoying. The oven is always smoking so I stopped using that along time ago. When I first moved in I cooked once and there was smoke coming from the oven. After taking the metal pans that collect food and what not from the stove I realized the top part of the stove was filthy so I cleaned it (this was not me, but the previous person that lived here and it must have been overlooked). I cleaned the entire oven/stove and it still smells like ---- when I turn it on. Luckily I don't cook often and travel frequently so this is not my biggest concern. The washer sounds like a train. I asked them to come fix it and they claim they found a screw in it and thats what the issue was. It still sounds like a train and I'm thinking that the screw was a missing part to something in the washer. I leave my windows open all year because it's so muggy in the apartments and I know it has nothing to do with me. The main reason why I haven't even bothered to let the office know is because the lease agreement scares me. I read the entire thing and it pretty much states that everything can be considered your fault. How uncomfortable is that? My last apartment was so amazing and it was old but everything worked. Oh and by the way if you have any friends/boyfriends/moms/dads that come over more than 10 days a year they need to be on the lease. If you consider moving here please know that you are being ripped off. These apartments are not worth what they are going for. I am counting down the days until I can move out of this place! Only 6 more months and I am free!

Great Place for all kinds of people
Great Staff and a Great Community I have worked closely with the leasing and maintenance team here at Firdale Village and after reading through some of the negative reviews posted on this website, I feel compelled to share my experience about working with this great team. Since I have been working with the staff at Firdale Village, I have only witnessed great customer service where the leasing and maintenance team go above and beyond to make their residents happy, before and after, they sign their lease. They strive to make this a comfortable community for the residents and I can tell they do so by the way they treat residents with respect, kindness, compassion and respond to their needs as fast as possible. I can t say that they're perfect, no company is, and can make mistakes from time to time, like everyone does, but they are always quick to admit to their mistakes and do everything in their power to make things right. As you read the comments left on this site posted by past or current residents, I would encourage you to please keep in mind that it is a small sampling of the large population they serve at Firdale Village. They have 386 units in this community and most of the residents are extremely happy with their experience living there from what I can tell. They have a great community of residents and are very accepting of people from all backgrounds. One of the things I know they love most about being a leasing team at Firdale Village is that they have a very diverse group of residents and they accept any person who applies for the property and is approved based on a standard screening process. I can tell you first hand that this leasing team is not about the money, they are about providing excellent customer service, helping people find the best home that works for them on the property and do everything they can to make people feel at home and help them with any problems. If you are a respectful to other residents and the staff, responsible for your actions and follow the guidelines and rules outlined in your lease (which are very basic to every property), then this is definitely a great place for you. I guarantee you ll love living here at Firdale Village in Edmonds. In conclusion, my intensions are to share this information about the hard working leasing team that does everything they can to make this property and community a happy and comfortable home for all of their residents.

I moved here a year ago after having serious health problems. The quality of the apartments and the excellent staff have made my recovery possible. Their attention to a clean and safe facility go beyond most complexes. I would strongly recommend Firdale Village Apartmenets to anyone!

DO NOT MOVE HERE. SERIOUSLY. ESP IF YOU ARE NOT BORN IN US OR ARE IN ANY WAY DIFFERENT FROM THE PEOPLE WORKING AT THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE.
In case you missed all the other bad reviews. Seriously. Whatever you do - DO NOT MOVE HERE. Especially if you are are ... different . I am. Although I am a US citizen, I was not born in US - but in Europe, so I do speak with an accent. My experience: I moved in 2010 in Oct. Had no problems for a year- mostly prob bc I had been spending very little time home. Problems started shortly after I renew my lease. Was too busy to find another place and move- and bc I wasn't spending much time home anyway- I didn't have time to notice that the "small" things wrong with the place were not that small after all. So here it goes- I didn't sign for covered parking - which costs extra per month. The uncovered parking is free and unsupervised - so who knows who lives here- bc at the end of the day you can't find a parking spot anywhere but under the covered parking. I did work a lot - on call on all 3 shifts- so it happened quite few times to have to park on a paid parking - bc ALL THE FREE SPACES WERE FILLED. Surprise: my car got towed- with no other warning. To come to find out that unknowingly I had been parking on prob the only paid spot under that covered- and the owner of that spot called 7 SEVEN times the office. No one called me to let me know. When my car got towed, I had to pay $509 for less than 12 h in the inpound. The company they work with is Mary's Towing. Not that there are any signs with that information anywhere under the covered parking from where the car got towed. The Mary's towing signs are at the main entrance in the complex and for some unknown reason on the gate at the dumpster site. NEXT DAY - I get a move your car sticker stuck to my windshield - when I was parked on one of the FREE PARKING SPOTS. All this happened few days before Christmas- So after the sticker to move my car even from the free parking, I went to the office very upset - talked with Dutch ( who I would guess is one of the managers) who said he will talk with the towing company company and call me back - bc he agreed "the charges were too high". I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM. He also had an answer about the office never calling me about the covered paid spot or also about the sticker on my windshield: they "lost my car information when they upgraded the system and they didn't know who to contact". Although the guy who put the sticker on my car , Devin, knew miraculously my information earlier same day to finally inform me about the complains about the covered parking ( the day AFTER my car got towed, and few hours BEFORE HE PUT THE STICKER ON MY CAR, WHILE I WAS PARKED ON A FREE PARKING SPOT. Doesn't make much sense to you either ? It's easier to understand if you consider that their office policy is based on bullying and intimidation, with a streak of racism barely masked. So the episode ended with I believing Dutch, he never getting back to me about the issue, and bc of holidays and busy schedule, time passed. Now I am thinking about getting a roommate - and bc of health issues I had to spend more time home. Where I discovered that the General Electric stove un PLUGGED elements ( I haven't seen this kind since the 90s in any of the apartments I rented) is having charred old grease under the cover, on the oven top. On further investigation - I discovered signs of smoke and heat on the above the stove vent cover (!!) which def is proof of fire - in case the charred grease wouldn't have been a give away. How did I get to find the charred grease? I preheated the oven at 400 to heat a frozen pizza- in 10 min my apartment was filled with smoke- which triggered the fire alarm. And here is what I was told - when I mentioned the issue at the office when I paid rent. And after the maintainence guy, Bong ( it is his name, seriously)came today and pretty much didn't do anything, but what seemed to be assessing the situation. He offered to clean the charred grease- after making sure I know it's not his duty , that I am responsible to clean it (although it was obv it was old and burned enough to had been there way before I even moved in- by the way I rarely cook- and even less if ever do I cook with grease) but he makes me a favor- of course I refused his offer, bc the point was that the charred grease was a sign of the fire hazard - and not the cause of it. And I just had a long conversation with Dutch. I def lost my temper- bc he was blatantly lying. He told me - when I directly asked him why he never called me back about the towing fees- and HE SAID HE DID CALL, LEFT A MSG AND I NEVER CALLED HIM BACK. Trust me- he never called, I know that, he knows that. About the stove- he told me few things Bong told him he did or noticed in my apartment - mostly lies, and non-sense statements. He pretty much told me he will not replace the stove bc the maintanence guy, Bong, didn't recommend it. That's a lie- Bong needed 2 min to see the situation, he left the apartment to ask if he needs to order a replacement, he came back few min later with a drip pan he offered to "give me", and "he will clean the charred grease as a favor". So I know it was not Bong opinion Dutch read- bc I spoke with the guy and like I said - took him 2 min to decide he needs to ask for replacement. The maintainence supervisor- who was not even in the apartment or has any idea what the stove looks like- made the notes - who Dutch read to me. I told him I am not paying rent if the stove is not replaced- he said I have to - and that if I wanted my stove replaced I should have negociated when I renewd my lease back in Oct 2011. That's exactly what he said. SO he will not replace it, I need to clean years of gunk and pray my house will not catch on fire next time I try to make some pizza. And I will have to prob pay rent - bc legally I have to, until next October. So this is the office management at Firdale Village- the people are nice and all seems good for the money until you sign. Here are the people who will eat your nerves with a little spoon as soon as they can. Dutch. Devin. Ashley. if you sign anything - you are screwed- like I am. After you move in- you will dicover that the rent is so little bc the utilities are to be paid separately. That makes for at least 100 more per month. If you are late on paying util with rent- an almost 100 fine is added to your rent. So... I am a single woman. I live in a 2 Br/1 Ba apt - I am not home more than 16 h / day. And yet I have to pay rent about 950. when no fees are involved. So for the money, you can find something better. Or at least a place where people don't treat you like dirt, scream at you, try to intimidate you when you mention something about your rights as a tenant. If you have any advice or suggestions - or phone numbers- please help - I am stuck here. until Oct 2012. I have more horror stories if you ever consider moving in this place. Trust me- if you are not white, born in US or speak english with no accent- don't even consider moving here. You'll have to deal with the office for absolutely anything - and God forbid if you need their help. You are screwed. Feel free to write to me directly if you want- emiliag@gmail.com. By the way- if you have a pet- the PET DEPOSIT IS $560 - I am not kidding. Five hundred sixty dollars is the pet deposit. If you have a dog- depends what size and breed they are. I don't have either. BUT any prospective roommate runs as fast as they can when they hear about the deposit. When you sign the contract - READ EVERYTHING- PAY LEGAL ADVICE IF YOU CAN BEFORE SIGNING- THEY HAVE ABOUT 150 PAGES CONTRACT - and they seem so nice and helpful you have no reason to believe they just want you to sign. But that's how it is. If I would have the money- trust me- I would take them to court for discrimination, and for breaking most of the rules in any tenant act. Look up essex trust. They have a legal department- why do you think they need one to write their contracts? Seriously. DO NOT CONSIDER MOVING HERE. I stand by everything I said. I am a real person, who unfortunately renewed the lease trusting that if anything goes wrong, they will take care of it. Feel free to contact me by email emiliag@gmail.com. Good luck

WHATEVER U DO DONT MOVE HERE!!!
These apartments are garbage, once you go month to month for a ------ one bedroom apartment they charge $ 1100... The staff is unreliable, they have mold problems in their apartments which they dont think is a problem because they won't fix it... They are extremely rude and dont care about the problems you have... The walls are extremely thin so you hear every single move the people above you make, you can even hear them going to the bathroom... I give a extremely strong recommendation you dont move in here, you can live in a way nicer apartment for the same price... Garbage apartments...

Smoke enters apartments with all windows and doors closed!
I've had to open all the windows and doors and turn on the fans in 20 degree weather just to be able to breath in my unit. Management was very caring and tried to help by caulking the heck out of everything, but it still came in. I finally had to break my lease, and they allowed me to do that with a form filled out by my physician. It was completely disgusting. If you're a smoker, it's a great place for you!

Great place to call home
I have resided at the firdale apartments for several months now and have been quite happy here. I must say it's one of the best managed apartments I have lived at. My apartment has been nicely updated, the grounds are well kept and the management stays on top of things. The people are friendly and I feel very safe here. It's nice and quiet too. My dogs and I are very happy here.

Happy long-time renter
I've lived at Firdale Village for close to 8 years and have had a consistently good experience here. Like many forums of opinion on the internet, one's motivation for posting often comes from a negative experience or attitude. A vocal minority. The positive experiences of myself and friends that live here have far outweighed the negatives. While I understand there is less motivation to post positive reviews, I just have to say that the complex is friendly, quiet and the management has been very quick to attend to our needs.

Run Down! Now with new Owners, can we get some improvements without a 30% rent Increase?
All the recent postings are correct! Now with new Ownership, maybe loyal residents can be rewarded with some improvements to appliances? Something more energy efficient? Something that is not duck taped or jimmy rigged to work? Please new ownership - reward the longterm residents!

Nickel and dime
The floor plans are generous, people are generally nice, and the yards well maintained. However the parking fees, fee to "move in", water/sewer bills shared with 6 units in the building (which have a fee for billing you too!), pet rent fees, etc are a terrible surprise in addition to the regular amount you pay for rent. After that shock you will get an electric bill that is overly high because the appliances are old and the wiring in general is poorly constructed. The steamroom has never worked to my knowledge and the spa is perpetually out of order. I don't know about the weight room, but I do know they closed the tanning bed permanently. It is a shame that the place is not better maintained with fewer fees and more competitive rent prices. I wonder how much money is sent to the east coast (the real property owners) rather than to the upkeep of the property.
