Good Experience With City Lights
Ok, so I am sick of people reviewing this property in a negative light, so I have to post my real experience. My husband & I moved here in Oct 2007 and just recently moved out the beginning of May. We were in the #9 building on the 3rd floor close to the parking structure. Overall City Lights was a great apartment. The grounds were kept clean, walking to the shopping center below was really nice and any maintenance request was handled pretty quick. I am a 28 year old woman, and have never felt "unsafe" in the parking structure. A huge plus for my husband & I was the size of the patio on our 1 bedroom den. You will not find balconies this size anywhere. I dont know wht people are so hung up on the staff. Why do they even have to interact with them? If you drop your rent in the drop box on time every month you will have no interaction with the staff. It's as easy as that. If you pay late and complain, yes you will be hearing from them. I have to admit that I do work for a small management company, but for that reason I consider myself to be even more critical then the average resident. That said, I have even taken some of their ideas/policies to try and incorporate into my properties. What does that tell you? The only reason my husband & i moved out was because we bought a short sale just up the street in the Westridge area. Although I owed money after moving out because of the ISTA bill (water, sewer, trash), and painting a wall red, I still can give them a great review.

Meh, it's OK
Ahhh, how refreshing. A review from a person that actually lived here/doesn't work at the City Lights Mgmt office! The Pros: Location is nice, buildings look great from the outside. The complex is reasonably safe...shady things have happened here (sorry City Lights staff, but the OC Register's multiple stories about the parking lot beating, suicidal veteran and the person who was ran over in the parking lot aren't made up) but I can't say it was THAT terrible. I've never had my car broken into, but then again I drive a dented, 8 year old Jetta. The office staff, for how inept they are do accept packages on your behalf, which is nice. The Cons: The gym is tiny - for an apartment complex this large, you'd think City Lights would have more cardio and weight machines. The parking garage is really noisy - people speed through the structure, the speed bumps are just plain awful, car alarms are constantly set off and there is unpreferred guest parking (4th floor, 5 minutes and 20 speed bumps later=unpreferred parking). Since each apartment is only assigned one spot regardless of how many tenants you have, a lot of people rely on guest parking. I've always found a spot, but it's usually on the 4th floor. Other tenants will use guest spots to house their recreational vehicles (old cars, motorcycles) and mgmt does nothing to stop people. (I know, I've called mgmt multiples times about it and they promise to take care of it but they don't.) This is similar to mgmt's approach to noise complaints - my new downstairs neighbor threw parties and smoked massive amounts of weed at night (in addition to blaring his terrible music) and I just started calling the cops on him after mgmt/the night emissary did nothing to rectify the situation after the second time. At least the Aliso Viejo PD will take care of the residents. :) I lived on the third floor and constantly heard my neighbors on top of me and to the side of my apartment - whether they were walking or taking a leak in their bathroom. YES, you can hear that and it was gross. The fixtures in the apartment are also pretty cheap. I had multiple maintenance issues during the time I lived here, but the office was at least decent in getting things fixed. Bottom line: It's OK, but nothing to write home about.

I Agree Nice
I agree with the majority of the reviews here City Lights Apartments is really nice. It is so obvious (your not fooling anyone) :) That there is 1 person who replies to all postive reviews. They have an excuse for every positive review. Like the majority of people I like City Lights, 1) It's the best looking place in Aliso. 2) very Convient, I walk to everything and like the last review, I have a small dog and love the park right next too me. 3) Very Safe, sometime I don't even lock the car in my door really. 4) My apartment is very nice has an alarm (no other apartment communities has them as I went to them all). 4) very quiet as long as you don't get a unit facing the street you be ok. 5) I met so many wonderful christian people who live here and we also have a weekly bible study at my place so I'm gald to be living here and I wanted to give my comments too.

Very Nice Place
I moved here from Long Beach when I took a new job. I looked all around Aliso and City Lights is far the nicest looking place and very well kept. This is a huge complex very huge but pretty much quiet. Other than the garage little noise. My apt faces a nice courtyard and my unit has a full size washer and dyer. Each unit also comes with an Alarm but you have to pay for activation. City Lights is close to everything and I pretty much walk to everything the staff is nice and I'm really happy living here.

A Very Nice Place to Live At.
So like the majority of people here I agree, City Lights is a nice, safe and quiet place to live at. It's the nicest place in Aliso, close to everything and very safe. There is one or two people out there stating false things about the place. Nobody cares about a OC Register story, who even reads that..LOL, again this is a nice safe place and too the one person out there, when are you moving out, you been asked that over and over? If someone really dislike the place, wouldn't they just leave and be done with it? Instead they respond to every positive review- thats how you can tell it's fake. Must be another leasing agent or someone who couldn't pay rent or pass the credit check LOL.. City Lights is a great place to live at!

Gang and Crime Infested--Illegal Aliens Everywhere--Resident attacked by 4 gang members with baseball bats when he caught them breaking into his car--Weekly Burglaries
Resident attacked 6 weeks ago with baseball bats by 4 gang members as he caught them trying to steal his car www.ocregister.com/news/reported-241004-caller-block.html Suicide bomber barricaded in a unit www.ocregister.com/articles/aliso-71491-suicide-viejo.html Resident murdered in parking structure ocregister.com/articles/carter-41070-noverola-rammed.html The crime and car burglaries are so bad around here the Aliso Viejo Police Department posted warning notices at all the mailbox areas warning residents about the danger. What used to be a decent place is now the ------ because the management allows some of the greasiest people you can imagine live and hang around all areas of the complex. Welcome to Tijuana, Mexico! Enjoy your stay.

Quiet Place
Well I moved in April and I can say this is a nice and quiet place. I live in the 1200's in building 1 and I have no complaints at all. I read the reviews before I rented here and you can pretty much tell the fake ones to the real ones. None of the reviews had any influence on me at all. I make up my own mind.
