nobel court***
close to everything. walking distance to mall, movies, food and bus. great location. price average for the area. allows both dogs and cats. i do not smell urine through out the complex as stated below. been here for 5 months. pretty quiet area. lots of college students, so it can get load. washer/dryer in apt. average sizes. parking undergood is small. most dont park there as too hard to get in unless u have a real small car. extra parking around complex. everything complex has its complaints. security co. is the biggest problem. dont lock gym when they are suppose to. but that is not management really fault unless they stay on them. others wise a great location and really nice people live here.

This place is a nightmare.
Apparently the property managers are bribing tenants to write good reviews, which I find pathetic. I decided not to write my review for this place until I received my security deposit back for fear of backlash by ---------, the awful property manager. Before the bribes (also in June 2011), the approval rating for the complex was in the low 20's. I was not even going to write a review because previous ones spoke for themselves, but I am truly repulsed at how the approval rating has more than doubled. It is completely ridiculous and misleading. In the past it was obvious that people working in the rental office were writing fake positive reviews at a sad effort to increase approval ratings. As for me, I am so happy my lease ended in June. The management is a nightmare to work with. They are extremely rude, and the property manager, ---------, is the worst. She snaps at and raises her voice at tenants. Tenants basically have no rights and are totally disrespected. All of the staff is pretty awful. Just as other reviewers have written, you will be shown a sample apartment and be told that your apartment will be exactly like that. I even inquired about the granite countertops and was assured they would be in my apartment. Of course, they were not. The workmanship is pretty bad. We had to have maintenance come fix the stove 3 times before it finally worked. If you are a UCSD student looking for an apartment, you may be enticed to sign a lease because it is conveniently across from the shuttle stop. Another pro is that laundry facilities are in the complex. However, I argue that there are much better complexes nearby that have much better management. You will have a much better living experience in general at a different complex. Other CONs: The gym is tiny and the ceilings are so low. The grounds smell like urine because there are so many pets. My balcony smelled like urine for the same reason. I am sure someone with a pet lived there before. Don't live here if you want to have a decent living experience and want to be respected. You do not want to deal with Nobel Court management.

Really nice community!
We have been living here for around 5 months and we like it. The common areas need to be cleaned more often as they tend to get dirty fast. I was a little bit disappointed about that when we first moved because you feel that cleaning hallways and patios at least twice a week would make this place so much better. The pool area is great, the gym is basic, the staff is friendly and efficient. Any maintenance you need in the apartment is done really fast. The washer/dryer that comes with the apartment is such a good perk. The location is excellent as the beach is really close

It's good but can be better
In general, we like this community. It has all the nice and necessary facilities. Maintence team and management team are very nice and efficient. However, one of stairs is very smelly. Maybe some pets has peeed there. Could someone come and clean up? We really do not like to smell it everytime when we use this stair.

The good and the bad
The good and the bad Yes, management has given an incentive to write a review to be entered in a drawing; and yes, I am writing this review for that. I don t think it s wrong they did this, because it is just an incentive for residents to take time out of their days and write some feedback. It s up to you, house hunter, to go through these reviews and figure out which seem genuine. I hope mine helps you. I did a lot of research on apartments in the area before I moved in to Nobel Court and here is what I can give you: Nobel court had the same amenities that other apartments were offering: pool, jacuzzi, barbeque grills, and a gym. I have been in Nobel since April and I have used all of these amenities so far and have had nothing but a great experience. The pool and jacuzzi area is not used as much by other residents, so there will probably be two or three other people there when you go. I go to the gym in the morning and there is usually one or two more people there, so I never have to wait for a machine to become available. For the gym, there is a cardio room and a weight machine room; I like this because I m a girl and I don t have to be working out in front of muscles. Plus, who doesn t like saving on a gym membership? The place is dog friendly and they have doggy bags all over the place (another point for savings). I have the smallest apartment, and I compared sizes by square feet to other places. I found that other apartments include the balcony with the storage closet as part of their square feet, and Nobel didn t. This was the biggest, smallest apartment by comparison. Every time something doesn t work, I call them and they go get it fixed the same day if it is a weekday. Also, I had never lived in a big apartment complex, so I was worried I would be able to hear all my neighbors. Surprisingly, this was not the case. At some point during my first month, I even wondered if I had neighbors at all! The absolutely best part: they have a washer and drier inside each apartment!!! No more having my clothes pulled out by some random stranger because I was 2 minutes late to get them out (and yet, another point for savings!). They also had a pretty good move-in deal when I applied. Like everything else in life, there are a few things I haven t liked and think they could use some improvement. There are some areas in the hall carpet on the first floor that are a little dirty. I assume this is due to puppies that can t hold it to get to the grass area. I don t spend more than a minute there, so it doesn t bother me. There is no AC, so since it s summer, I leave the windows open at night to cool. Because of this I get street noise from bus stops and what not, but since I m a heavy sleeper, again, it doesn t bother me. If this is something that bothers you, then buy a fancy fan and you re set (another point for savings on electricity, yey!). Plus, I would rather take on the street noise than adding an extra 15 minutes to my commute because I live far from the freeway. Finally, the last thing I didn t like is that I saw wear and tear on the cabinets and the bathroom smelled funky. Since this bothered me, I decorated and bought some scents :)

Sweet Home
First of all, English is not my first language, so please understand any miss in below. I hope you can understand my review. I have been living for 9 months since I was arrvived in San Diego. Yes, Nobel Court is my first apartment in the U.S. So, I don't know exactly about another apartment. But, I've visited my friends for some party, like Costa Verde, La Rgencia(?), and Mirada. Actually, those apartments are pretty good, but there are so many residents. So, I can here noises from neighbors. Also, parking is uncomfortable. In addition, Nobel court located near Ralphs, Whole Foods, CVS, AMC theater, and whatever. You can work, and shop very easily. If you find an apartment in resonable price, I strongly recommend Nobel court to you.

Loving La Jolla
La Jolla is hard not to love, but finding a cost effective and central place to rent with "required" amenities is hard to find anywhere in San Diego. Believe me we looked. I needed to rent a place for my mom that had certain features - multiple stories (love windows open), elevator, safety options (guard helps, gated areas also help) and your own laundry (yes she does my laundry)!. And mainly a place close enough to walk to the market. This place has it all. The only thing I would change is to HEAT the pool, way too cold for me. And yes although their management team asked to do a review, they asked for our opinions - not necessarily good or bad, but opinions and suggestions.

Has all the "must haves"
Nobel Court apts offers all my "must haves", parking; washer/dryer; patio;and better than average appliances; countertops; paint and carpeting and pet policy. A major draw back for me is the NOISE, traffic (bus) noise due to a transit stop; and other street noise like motorcycles can be deafening. There are a lot of students renting and they are often rude and inconsiderate, leaving trash and unwanted items in the public areas. There is no roving security. I was told to call the office if I needed assistance, but the few times I called to report a problem there was no answer. My closet is small and has terrible fixtures, the main rod is weak plastic covered wire which bows deeply in the center. The location is fantastic, close to freeways and shopping and the beach.

The best apartment I have lived in so far.
In six years I have lived in three other apartments in a one mile radius of Nobel Court and this is by far the best place yet. The rent is comparable but the quality here is the best. My only qualm with the place is the poor plumbing. I live directly over the parking garage which somehow screws up my plumbing (I hear this is common). Crap (that isn't ours) came up my kitchen sink and clogged it three times. The maintenance guy said that there was gravel, potato skins, or some kind of mystery meat clogging it each separate time (because the garbage disposal is just for looks and literally DOES NOT WORK). We have a mesh net over our drains and it is definitely NOT OURS! They cleaned out the drains, but CHARGED US! In one bathroom the toilet gets plugged all the time and the shower and sink smell like sewage. It is marked in the maintenance record, but nothing is ever done. Last year Godzilla lived upstairs, but it seems he has since moved out. This may sound terrible, but honestly, it doesn't get much better than this.

Pathetic
How many new reviews has this -------- gotten? And they are almost all good. THey are paying people to submit reviews. They've gone from 17% approval to well over 30. Do they really expect people to believe this? I was a resident for a year. The place stinks. --------- is pathetic. DON"T RENT HERE!!! You will not be happy. My neighbors on both sides wanted out. You can hear everything your neighbors do, whether just walking or having sex. I purchased an ambient noise machine so I could sleep. I think what they are doing with the reviews is very unethical but what would one expect from ---------?? This place is not well maintained. It is very very noisy.

Our First Month:)
Well, My husband and I are military. He's stationed in Coronado, but we love La Jolla. It is an easy jump onto the 5, and a quick ride to downtown. We are one block from a Ralphs, and 2from a Vons. We have a washer and dryer in our unit as well that we love. We live on the lowest level, so our patio is very spacious and great for having guests over! The office staff are great and they always ask how we are liking our new place. We have a dog (which they accommodate for) and ALL the girls in the office are very sweet to us. We have a pool and a hot tub, accompanied with 2 very nice grills, and canopies for privacy. All of our neighbors are nice, and always talk to us and say hey. I have lived at a few apt. complexes, and so far; my husband and I like this one the best. It is smaller than some other places- but that is one of it's big pluses for us:) There is a sand volleyball court very close to our apt. and plenty of grassy areas to walk your pet. They really care here, and that can make the world of difference sometimes. I have read other negative reviews, but sometimes it is all how you come into it. Everyone views apts. in a different light, but the best way is just to think with a positive outlook, concentrate on the positive things, and that will bring you to where you need to be. Nobel Court does also offer assigned parking, in an underground (locked) lot. Also a guest parking pass is issued for the guest parking lot. There are a lot of families and students here, as well as a few military. Age groups vary as well, so no matter what (category) you may fall under, Nobel Court can accommodate for you! Also, where we live you can barely hear any noise, the buildings are tall and block the sounds from the interstate and side rode (which is great)! Once again the staff is great, and they do whatever they can to help you! The way they toured us was also important. They took their time, they answered all our questioned; and mostly they were patient. FOR the price, amenities and locations in La Jolla, I don't think there could be a better, overall place, to live :). -Rachel

Not too bad...
Spacious and affordable it is for apartment shoppers who want to pay for the location, but don't necessarily need all of the extra ammenities. The pool is nice, but is surrounded and shaded, so sometimes finding the sun is a little difficult. The parking garage is okay, but the spaces are much too small to safely pull in and out, my vehicle has received multiple new door dings. The gym is great and has plenty of exercise equipment. As for the staff, everyone I have met is great; very helpful and polite when I ask questions. The rooms are easy to hear through when someone slams a door or plays music too loud it's noticeable, but I can't make out conversations so it's somewhere in between. Pets are allowed, some breeding restrictions on dogs, and they both require a deposit and rent. Lastly, the grounds are nice, but early weekends are normal with all of the landscaping and maintenance going on it's sometimes hard to sleep in.

Reviewers being BRIBED to write positive reviews
The reviews for this place have been (up until last week) very reflective of the complete s-hole that Nobel Court truly is. However, last week the leasing office posted notices on the doors of every resident - if residents write a review on this website and tell the leasing office which review is theirs, they are entered into a raffle for $500. THESE RECENT POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE DUE TO THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT'S ATTEMPTS TO BRIBE RESIDENTS TO WRITE POSITIVE REVIEWS. In reality, this place is a complete dump. My car has been broken into, the property managers did nothing about it. The security guard serves no actual security-related purpose, but merely locks the pool at 9pm every night. --------- (the property manager) is the most two-faced person I've ever met in my life. My sink overflowed due to plumbing problems in the pipes in the garage and they had to send out a plumber 3 different times before it was fixed. When the plumbing caused a flood in my apartment after all of that, they told me they were going to charge me $90 for having a plumber come after hours. Then they never even repaired the wall area, or fixed where they ripped up the carpet. Repairs here are done with the shoddiest workmanship I've ever seen. Tenants here are treated like complete crap, and these positive reviews are all because everyone is poor and could use some extra dough. Shame on the property managers for manipulating their tenants this way. What a total disgrace, but then again, I'm not surprised given all the other crap I've seen/gone through at this place.

Average Apartment
Parking: The parking at this location is located under the building. It is relatively well lit. The majority of the parking spaces, though, are a nightmare to navigate into. There are pillars splitting the majority of the parking spaces which makes it difficult for anything other than a smart car to fit into, especially if you have someone parking next to you. There is a line of solid parking spaces under my building, though, and I was lucky to get 1/2 of my spaces there. Noise: I believe this problem is split between the construction, and the neighbors. Of course when you're underneath people, you'll hear footsteps. Unfortunately, the majority of the time it sounds like people have bricks in their shoes upstairs. Also, the walls are relatively thin and are just drywall, so it is quite easy to hear just people talking when you are attempting to sleep. This might not be a problem for many, but my schedule is a little different than normal due to work. The noise is not a constant, though, thus 3 stars. Grounds: Just as the three star subtitle says, tasteful, but nothing special. There are nice little trees and planters here and there. An attempt is made to keep the grass green, but pets do their best to kill it. The baggie stations keep landmines to a minimum, though. Average grounds, in my opinion. Construction: As far as fixtures go, they seem pretty standard, except the fans all wobble on anything other than low speed. I cannot judge building materials, because I'm not adept in that field. The sound insulation was covered by noise, there is very little. The layout and design is fine. I can not tell you whether the building is old, or the materials are cheap, but there is a little something off with the majority of things. Windows not closing all the way, doorframes leave a little space between the door, cracks along counters, tilted cabinets. Nothing deal-breaking though. Maintenance: Todd, I believe his name is. He was the first fellow that came to fix an issue, and he annihilated it. Explained the problem, fixed, the problem, and told me to let him know if anything else was an issue. I can't recall the other fellow's name, but he was equally awesome. Maintenance team owns. Staff: The majority of the staff is equally awesome. Renee and Georgette are names that stand out as being particularly helpful. There is another woman that also frequently helps me if I need anything, but I can't recall her name. The only reason for four stars is that there seems to be temporary help in the front office sometimes. One of them seems to only know how to giggle and ask questions. Then proceeds to take note of your problem so someone else can help you with it. Overall: It's the only apartment I've owned, and it seems pretty average compared to other places I looked at. I'm happy where I am, and the majority of the staff is excellent, so when there is a small issue elsewhere, I just ask for help. I would recommend it.

THEY ARE BRIBING RESIDENTS FOR REVIEWS
The only reason people are writing good reviews is the leasing office put a note on everyone's door offering a $500 Visa Gift Card to someone for a review of the property. Pretty shady. Anyway not the worst place I've lived but they're very misleading ("your apt will look EXACTLY like the model" then after the lease is signed you find out you have gross painted counter tops and 10 year old appliances and shoddy workmanship everywhere). Parking spaces are impossibly small (even for a compact) and the walls are PAPER thin. I can literally hear the guy in the apt above us PEE. $1400 for 650 sq feet of dingy? Not worth it. There are about 6 communities around here that are a better deal. Go elsewhere, you'll regret it and complain then they'll bribe ppl to lie. Guess I won't be getting that $500 ;)

Nice Place
While some of the places in this area look like resorts, and unlike apartment structures, this place met my expectations and hopes both in amenities and in price. Other places nearby were nominally nicer with more recent upgrades but hundred of dollars more per month. Overall, the property is nice, clean, safe and convenient.

Great place!
Nobel Court is an overall great place -- nice atmosphere, friendly to pets (great for our cat!) and well located. Pricing is average for the area. Amenities are great -- included washer/dryer, Pool area, and propane grills. We live on the street side, so the noise can get loud, but we got used to it pretty quick. The location is great -- within walking distance to Trader Joe's, Ralph's and Whole Foods, and also right near the shuttle stops to UCSD.

Nobel Court, a good place to live.
Although I haven't been here for too long, Nobel Court (at the moment) seems like a wonderful place to live. The area is quiet and management was very helpful with the move-in process. Some problems would be the noise issues. I've been woken up several times due to garbage collectors or maintenance staff. Also people using the volleyball courts tend to get loud. Regardless, this is a great place to live.

I love Nobel Court
I have been here since spring 1993. My wife and I moved here from Long Beach, CA and I'm still here (she died in 2001). I like the location and the great stores within a mile or two. I'm 88 years young and this is one of the best places I have ever lived in. The manager (Georgette Wright) is a very accomodating and gracious manager and seems to have the comfort and well being of her tenants as well as any I have dealt with to over the years. In the building I am in everything seems to be very effectively placed for the convenience of the tenants.

Love Nobel Courts!
I love living in the Nobel Court apartments. I have lived here for the past two years, and I just signed my lease for a third year. The location is perfect because it is next to shops, and the major freeways. The apartment buildings remind me of a hotel because they are modeled in the same fashion, there is gated underground parking, and you need a swipe key in order to enter the building from all entrances. Personally, I have had an excellent experience with the staff and the property manager, Georgette. They are all friendly, accommodate me in any way accessible, and they have always made sure I enjoy my experience at Nobel Courts. When I walk in, they address me by name. They ask how everything is going. It is very noticeable that they take pride in working and running this complex. My questions are always answered, and it is comforting to know that I live in an area that is nice, safe, and visitor friendly.

Avoid if you can
This place's main problem is the landlord, ---------. She is very meddlesome... She is obviously quite bored and on some kind of strange power trip. She knocks on doors unannounced, peers into units and balconies, and has no respect for privacy whatsoever. If you manage to somehow get past --------- (who is a huge pain) you will find this place very close to the 5 and on Nobel which is a pretty busy street. Nothing special here. My car got broken into a couple times also.

Do NOT move in
I've lived in Nobel Court for 2 years now, and have absolutely nothing good to say about ---------, the woman who runs the leasing office. If it were not for this woman, I would actually enjoy living here. Everyone else seems pretty great, but unfortunately she is sufficiently awful that it doesn't matter, and I'm moving out when my lease is up. My car has been towed, there have been thefts in the "locked" and gated garages underground for residents (motorcycles lifted, car windows smashed and robbed, etc.), and --------- claims that the property is not responsible for anything that happens. While legally she may be right, she certainly doesn't have to be such a ----- about it. My visitors have received parking tickets while they were parked in guest parking, and security here is a sham. My neighbors are being forced to move out because their rent went up by over $200/month when they tried to renew their lease. Also, rent for identical apartments varies wildly by tenant. I am almost 100% certain --------- chooses rent pricing based on who she wants to move out, and who she doesn't mind staying. If you're looking for a nice place to live, with helpful and friendly property managers, Nobel Court is seriously not for you.
