In a few weeks I will celebrate 10 years at Hurstbourne Grand. I love this place and hope to stay for many more years. The staff is exceptional. Every maintenance issue is taken care of immediately. I appreciate the security of 24/7 emergency maintenance, and have needed to use it on a few occasions (once when my water heater started leaking and another when my upstairs neighbor, who couldn't understand that some foods should not be placed in a garbage disposer, flooded my kitchen.) It's just so nice to know that every issue will be addressed immediately and fixed properly. My one-bedroom apartment is as large as some houses and very well constructed. I rarely hear noise from the apartment above or any of the other apartments in my building. The grounds are beautiful - the landscaping crew comes every Thursday like clockwork. Snow/ice removal is great. We had parking issues in my area of the complex due to the small size of our lot. Visitors or residents with multiple vehicles would take up spaces, but management fixed that recently by assigning parking spaces. No more problem! Some of these reviews have mentioned cooking odors. Well, I happen to love it when I come home from work and can smell the wonderful curries and other dishes my Indian neighbors are fixing for dinner! The smell is only noticeable in the common hallway, not inside my apartment. And here's a hint: If you get to know those neighbors, they just might share some of that great food! That's been my experience! I've also seen reviews mentioning shoddy construction. My best friend's father was a plumbing contractor, and he was a part of the construction team when Hurstbourne Grand was built. He tells me that there is likely no better-built complex in all of Louisville. Plumbing codes have changed over the years. And, yes, the pipes inside the walls are not what's required by law now, so problems will crop up from time to time. But when you have a responsive maintenance crew just a phone call away, why worry? Bottom line: I have lived in apartments all my adult life, and I've never had a better one than I do now. Seriously. Happy 10th Anniversary, Hurstbourne Grand!!

I have lived here for 9 months and I consider this apartment complex to be the best I've ever called home. The Leasing Office Staff are welcoming and responsive to questions/concerns/requests. The maintenance staff go above and beyond to make sure service requests are completed in an efficient manner. For example, when my water heater broke this week, they replaced it within just a few hours. All of the staff have treated me with such kindness and courtesy. Other reviews mention noise or food smells as a problem but I don't find that to be troublesome at all; although, I suspect it is because my expectation, when living with others, is that our lives will overlap somewhat. My neighbors treat me like family (in a great way) and have been extremely kind and generous--why would I ever complain about food smells when they are always offering to share! I can recognize a gift when I see one =) I have zero complaints. Thanks everyone for your hard work!

We are extremely happy with this apartment complex. Our daughter is in college in Louisville and we looked many hours for a safe and clean location that was far enough out of the "city" and yet close enough to school and businesses. The staff have gone over and above to make sure everything was smooth with contracts, deposits, rent, moving day, etc. When there was a problem with the furnace, she called emergency maintenance and someone had it fixed immediately. There have been other instances where the staff has gone above and beyond to make sure our daughter and her roommates has outstanding service. In comparison, the cost was a few dollars more per month per rent, but the security, cleanliness, friendliness of staff and service of staff and maintenance has been more than worth the extra few dollars in comparison to other apartments. This complex was head and shoulders above the others we visited and trust me.....we visited many in the area. They rank the best!

We looked at many apartments before deciding on the Hurstbourne Grand. The size of the apartment with large closets, storage locker in the basement, and a private patio to enjoy the outside made the choice easy. The office staff and maintenance crew have always been professional and helpful in dealing with any concerns. The apatment complex and grounds are well maintained. Overall this has been a good place to live.

My family and I like our place. Great location, nice office staff and spacious rooms. But we have a huge problem with the smell in our building. You can smell what everyone is cooking. It smells horrific!!! And I guess since there's no real ventilation the smells just linger. It is so bad that we will not be renewing our lease. The apartment itself is a bit old but we got brand new carpets and it was cleaned very well.

Nice apartment, secure, excellent locality, outstanding service/maintenance, very quiet. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed living in this locality. Few locality maintenance issues are there cause of residents irresponsibility especially with pet dander.

Maintenance staff were the best! The grounds are beautifully kept. Property manager does not treat all tenants equally. Tenants who consistently break the terms of their leases do not appear to suffer the same consequences as others. When advising property manager of lease violations, memo is put on each apartment door of the building. Subsequent violations (often the same act) is supposedly given a written notice then if continues, a personal phone call, continues then threats of fines and/or eviction are supposedly given. However, when the violations continue, the tenants remain

My husband and I moved in the middle of March 2014, from the moment we walk in the door the lady's in the office went above and beyond for us, we were able to move in the same day. They really care about the residents and that makes a huge difference. The grounds are very well kept, and maintenance is great as well. I'm so glad we found Hursebourne Grand:)

Hurstbourne Grand is a GREAT place to live. My wife, our small dog and myself moved in at the end of May. The price is well worth it compared to most other apartment places in the area, plus Hurstbourne Grand has much larger apartments. The office staff is professional and very, very friendly and helpful. The maintenance staff is efficient and get things done in a timely manner. The grounds, pool area and tennis courts are kept neat and clean. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a great apartment in the east end of Louisville

Hurstborne Grand is among the most cleanliest and poshest apartment society in the hurstbourne Parkway and Shelbyville road area. The rooms are big and staff cleanliness is excellent. Also, service is exceptional. Security wise it should be in A category. Cons: Rent is a bit on the higher side. But that taking into account there is a TARC service just outside the apartment and easily approachable from all sides. Some residents take adavntage of the liberal management and overcrowd the apartments and appear to be very loud talking in native language. Also, I see bachelors changing apartments every month and continuing to sublease at will. Too much smell of curry if you happen to stay in some of the apartments inhabited mostly by south Asian people. if you are from that region, you might find it homely, but for others it smell very pungent. Insulation between the floors is a problem - too much noise from upstairs.

There is a major problem with the residents and garbage disposal as they seem to think they can throw out everything including the "kitchen sink." Each day there is furniture, stereos, and worse, garbage bags that are piled up outside the dumpster. Residents are too lazy to use the compactor as they expect someone else to take responsibility. Currently there are no less than 40 bags of garbage, boxes and furniture outside the dumpster. It is also very warm today and the stench is unbelievable. This is nothing short of a health hazard, and will be reported to the health department because all other options with management have been exhausted. While my complaints have been voiced to property management and NTS. it is a daily issue that detracts from living here. My suggestion is to fine the residents who refuse to obey property rules!

I just moved in 2 weeks ago, but I'm crazy about the space. I moved from Cali and I Ioved the size of the apartment! I know the prices are different here, but I looked around and this had the biggest space for a similar price in the area. I was so happy to have meet ---- and have her show me around. She told me fun things to try in louisville and recommended a few restaurants/ places to visit. She made the whole process so easy! As far as parking, my area has a ton of spaces. I am always close to my building and feel completely safe walking at night from my car. I can occasionally hear people walk up the building stairs, but I don't hear anything else in my apartment. The way they face all bedrooms are opposite each other. Makes it so great to not hear my neighbors! The grounds seem to be taken care of, but it is winter and I don't know what summer will bring. There are lots of mature trees and I face a huge yard view. There is a doggie clean up station and lots of walking space for my over active Beagle and lab. I can't wait to see the view in summer and to enjoy the warmer walk with my dogs. Safety is a huge thing for me. The east end was recommended to me and I couldn't agree more. I don't fear walking my boys or coming home in the dark. My neighbors seem to know what's going on and have promised to alert me if they see something out of the ordinary. I also enjoy having the locked building doors. I always lock my apartment, but the extra sense of security is a good feeling. The buildings are a little older, but could not tell they were built in the 70's. I was told they were updated in 2000 and I can tell. There have been a few tiny issues, but nothing that isn't expected with an apartment. I can not say enough about maintenance! Being by myself, I honestly couldn't hook yup my washer and dryer. I called the office and within 10 minutes, ---- was there and helped. I have had a few small issues and they have been quick to respond. And they have taken the time to explain things I wasn't aware of. Office staff have been great. They are pleasant and friendly and eager to fix any issues. The property manager was super friendly when I toured. She came out and introduced herself. I've never experienced that before. She told me her door is always open and I really liked that. Overall I am very happy. I almost didn't come here because of some of the reviews, but I am glad I did. I love it and I can't wait until summer when the pool is open. I will be here until my job makes me move.

Settled at the connective link of S Hurstbourne parkway and Shelbyville Road, This apartment is picturesque, ample space and really safe. The interiors are good and well maintained. prompt service. Courteous Management staff. Gym is good and so is the swimming pool. It has two tennis courts. the walkway is beautifully designed. Shrubs are shredded regularly and lanscaping is done well.

Worst experience of my life, talked to the management about noisy people upstairs 4-5 times ..and I guess management just don't care. Insulation (old Bldg) is terrible.Impossible to take a nap during the day..at night, individuals upstairs came home late from work 1-2 in the morning and the stumping on the floor kept us awake, until they decide to go to bed.....truly a nightmare. For the price ( $1240.00 a month) is NOT worth it.!!!

All Hurstbourne cares about is your money. Although the apartments may look warm & welcoming they are very cheap. My bathroom ceiling caved in after I had asked them to fix the leak months ago. The maintenance crew came by and said it wasn't a big deal. My dishwasher had a broken piece so water leaked under my carpet and stained it. They are overpriced and will continue to increase prices on you when your contract is over. Not to mention, the expensive pet fee you pay upfront ON TOP of your monthly pet rent..does NOT cover damages your pet may have done during your lease. I'm still not sure what the pet fee was for since we had to pay a monthly pet rent to have the pet anyways.

My lease is expiring soon (12 month lease) and, to put it mildly, I am thrilled to get out of this place. The apartments are cheap and noisy. These apartments were built with incredibly cheap materials and are aging. Also, it is evident that the owners have put minimal effort into maintaining the interior of these buildings. It's almost impossible to find a portion of the apartment floor that doesn't squeak. Half of the electric outlets in my unit are not secured correctly to the wall - on day 1 of my lease, I pulled a cord out of the wall and the outlet came with it. The walls are also razor thin. There is no insulation whatsoever - in fact, in the winter I swear I didn't need to turn the heat on as often as I should have needed to because the heat seeped in from the adjacent units. The storage area in the basement has flooded on multiple occasions - glad I didn't put anything other than cheap moving boxes down there. On the plus side: It seems like a small miracle that I've had no issues with my ageing A/C unit to this point. The kitchen appliances have worked well too- most of my kitchen appliances were brand new. This place is not quiet. I live in a first floor apartment and I can hear EVERYTHING that my upstairs neighbor do - it's way worse than any other first floor apartment that I have lived. I can hear every single step that my upstairs neighbors take and they (usually) do not walk with a heavy foot or thump on the floor. Rather, the shoddy construction and disrepair of this place ensure that the folks upstairs will not be able to avoid walking across their apartment without the floor squeaking and creaking at every point. When they have company over, squeaking sounds are made that are reminiscent of an old wooden ship enduring a furious storm at sea. In the few spots that do not creak, I can still hear footsteps - it's like a clog dancing party. I can hear them opening and closing drawers, flushing the toilet, and using the shower. Talking excitedly. It is bad. The old neighbors across the way on the first floor had parties (on week nights I might add) that vibrated the entire first floor of the apartment building (confirmed with the neighbors diagonal them at one point). Thankfully I lived in an otherwise quiet building. Sans partying neighbors and the noisy ceiling, I could see how the noise might not be too bad on a second floor unit. Walk away immediately if only first floor units are available though. A few more miscellaneous gripes: There are no dumpsters in this complex, just centralized compactors. A short car trip is necessary to throw stuff away. Water isn't a flat rate for the term of your lease. I split water and sewage with the other 7 units in my building. There are only 1 bedroom units in my building, but some of them have up to 4 people in them. Seems a little unfair that I'm subsidizing these costs. Parking can be hard to find in the evenings in parts of the complex. I didn't face this problem, but could see how others might. In summary, I would not recommend Hurstbourne Grand. If space is your objective (this is what drew me here) be prepared to settle with subpar construction and potential noise issues. I'm not able to justify these costs. Smaller but much higher quality apartments can be had in the east end of Louisville for the price Hurstbourne charges.

My fiance and I moved in on Friday and absolutely love it so far. I chose it because we have 2 dogs over 25 lbs and in my search, other apartment complexes either allowed 1 dog over 25 or 2 under 25. They require a pet deposit and extra pet rent and are more money than some of the other complexes, but I think it's totally worth it. Pet deposit was $300-I'm assuming it was $150 per pet, and the rent will be an extra $25 per pet. All apartments come with patios or balconies-our dogs love to sunbathe on them. We have the Edinburgh layout-which is 1 bed and 1.5 bath with no laundry connections, but we have a laundry room in the basement. Was delighted to have a dishwasher, lots of closets, and a storage unit in the basement. The complex also comes with tennis courts, a 24 gym, and a pool free with rent. It seems very well organized overall. Our apartment is on the ground floor but is very quiet-we can only hear neighbors open the main door and their apt door. Lots of families. The location is great as well-Walmart and Oxmoor Mall are very close. The office ladies have been totally awesome so far, and love to meet and cuddle your dogs. Very pleased so far-will post again in 2 months or so to update.

I have lived here for many years and have loved every minute of it. The apartments are huge. I have never found a larger apartment without a obscene amount of money being asked for it. I don't plan on leaving here. I have had many neighbors turn into friends. The maintenance is quick and personable and I can't say enough about the office girls. On nice days I like to walk to the office and catch up with them. I always recommend this place to anyone I know.

When I first moved into the my apartment at Hurstbourne Grand it looked like no one did a walk through before I moved in there. Body hair (short and curly) was stuck on the large kitchen light globe and the carpet had random screws, washers, and wires lying on it. All of the kitchen outlets didn't work. When they fixed this, they left a mess on my counters. I found out later from a neighbor that after they upgraded to GFI outlets in his kitchen they wired his wrong too. The kitchen counter is very noticeably unlevel. The stove sits at an angle trying to blend the counters. The dishwasher drains into the sink from the vent tube on top of the sink ( 2 or 3 work orders and nothing changed). My a/c went out twice this past summer. Windows and doors are very drafty. My bedroom stays very cool in the winter, and I was without a/c for weeks in the summer. My car got broke into this year while in the parking lot. They broke out my drivers window. After living at the apartment complex for almost a year and never being late on my rent, I made half of my payment out of a checking account that I was closing out. I realized I made an error and the check was going to bounce, so I notified management to inform them. I offered to pay it that day, but she told me to wait until I received notice from them. She said it was going to cost $75 for the NSF, and I had to pay with certified funds.. I was shocked when I received notice. The fees were just shy of $300 ( $75 NSF, $100 for being over 5 days late, and 10% of my rent for being over 10 days late). I called the office, and they wouldn't change anything. They told me the general manager was going to be out of the office for the rest of the week. When they kept telling me what days she would be in, I would call. When she did get back they told me she would call me back after she caught up on her work. Several days later when I get a call from her. She claims to have left me a message and talked about taking further action. I was the one trying to pay since I found the problem. She dropped the 10% charge, but I ended up paying $175 for my first offense.

We moved into our apartment July 2012 we were very excited upon seeing the layout and prices. However when we moved in we were quite surprised, holes in the walls every outlet, light switch and lights above sinks were crooked. The paint job is horrible! But the worst thing is we were told our rent included our water, gas, sewer etc... And we were quoted a total price, come to find out it was not included, it was tacked onto the rent every month. So our previous budget has been blown, we can barely afford to live here and will be moving just as soon as we can find something else and the lease is up.
