Been here for almost a year!!

I've been living at Remington Place for almost a year now and If I had to recommend this apartment I would. I'm also a single female and security is very important to me. the security doors always work. there aren't alot of people lottering all in the halls or in the parking lot for that matter. Its fairly quite I can always find a parking space. the cleaning crew do a good job cleaning each floor and laundry facility. Haven't heard of any problems as far as burlary or anything.

Rental office is very nice. always willing to help in anyway they can. Maintenance doesn't take forever if you have a problem. Mr. Ruff is my favorite he's very nice. It's fairly a good place to live if your starting off living alone. I'm looking to move though only because I'm ready for a townhouse.

      considering

I am considering moving here, the leasing consultants were very helpful. The only thing I am waiting for is an apt on a lower floor so that I can pay the lower rent. The apts are kind of pricy but I dont mind with the amenities and the service you receive. This is definitely a possibility for me.

        Its aight

I have been here just about a year and I have not had any major problems as a single female. I think when they switched to the new management it improved. The elevators are very bootleg, and sometimes only one works at a time, the electricity seems to go off easily during a storm and they always shutting the water off for a day for so- called "maintenance".

I havent had too much of a problem with roaches, they spray every so often so.. as long as you keep the kitchen area clean you shouldnt have much of a problem..

The walls can be kind of thin. But for the most part it is tolerable there; its pretty quiet for the most part. They dont tow in the parking lots, but there plenty of parking around back.

But as a single female, beware of your surroundings cause people are always watching you from their windows!

also - triflin people always dumping their junk in the dumpsters behind the building it make it very nasty, smelly and unsanitary.

          moving out in Sept.

Well from day one...when I first got my key and went to go see my new apartment before i had the movers put my furniture in place..I seen a roach on the wall! Damn I know I should have told them to tear up my lease and give me back my money! for the next 6 or 7 months..everyday...I killed not a roach, but roaches!...Now it has calmed down a bit..but i see one every now and then. The actual size of the aptmnts is not bad if you dont have a lot of stuff. Oh one of the washing machines has been broke since i moved here (go figure!). Yes there is loud people in the parking lot all times of the night. People come to the building to get buzzed in and they always ring my damn bell (but I hang up on them...LOL). Vistors park where the resident people park so by the time I come home from the skating rink..damn I dont have a place to park (they need to tow them bastards). Some people are really nice. I am surprised that the pool is clean, thank god for that! but over all it's time for me to move out and not look back!

            Good Apartment Since New Management

I have been staying in building 2602 and I have had no major complaints. The only complaint that I have had was about the sink, hot water being to hot, and the laundry card machine should be where the tenants have easy access(not in the leasing office). There is enough parking, but everyone has to realize not everyone is going to have a front parking space when living in a apartment building. Safety in the apartment building to me is safe and I am a single women. I haven't had any problems, but I still use caution. It's quite in the evening the only thing I hear is the beltway(alittle)weekdays. On the weekend its noisy in the late but it dies down earlier than many places. Overall the apartment building is still taking in some work. They did put new carpet in the hallways and in the lobby level, also painted the walls and doors. They changed the lights in the hallways to make the hallways brighter. If you are in an apartment building with 10 floors you can't expect everything to go prefect but I could tell that they are trying there best.

              Leasing Consultant

The only consistent positive thing about Remington Place Apartments is the leasing consultant David, he is a tenants dream! He is consistently pleasant to deal with, always greets you with a smile, you can tell he takes pride in his work and sincerely cares about the residents. He is a class act and truely has classed up the leasing office. He is new to leasing from my understanding but the consensus around the complex is that why he isnt the property manager. Just giving an update.

There Shouldn't be no Residents from "03" to Present Shouldn't have nothing Posotive to say about this Place because I know everything that went on from then to now Trust Me and I won't ever go back there ever

Parking- I used to live in 2600 before I moved to 2602, You will never find a parking spot in front of the building so you best to park at the side were it don't look safe or the downhill part in front of the building by the woods at the 2600 building, as for 2602 Building now that the new Management started this new sticker stuff its more convenient and less pressure but still a little drama and confusion at one point it was free to park there as long as you live there now you have to watch your back from these tow trucks sometimes they take your car by mistake.
Noise- You really dont have no noise level at the 2602 Building but the 2600 Building yes terrible noise sometimes. At night you will constantly here gunshots but it's coming from Heather Hill Apartments.
Grounds- It's fair if the Maintenance ever stop being lazy, The Supervisor (Mr. Ruff)and his son John are the only strongest maintenance workers there.
Safety- Definetly not safe all man I got a whole Web-page of this unsafe place for real People will love to here my story about the safety, fisrt of all when I first moved there I was followed in the parking lot by a Impala ss in 12/2003 I had to call my peoples to come around there so I can go into my new place safely. Upon approaching new years, I heard gunshots by my window and it was so close that we all duck down in the apartment and this was on new years(01-01-04) then one day the hallway lights go out and someone was in the hallway ready to try somebody I only knew because I seen it through my peep hole, another time I was entering the building and a blue grand marquise with a lot of little boys in it was trying to rob me and my cousin but was unsuccessful because I tricked them by entering the back door. Police harassed me accusing me of breaking into a resident apartment and at the time I was greiving the loss of my mother and enjoying the birth of my newborn. I was living under a Bank Robber it was on the news and everything (never know who you live by around there trust me) all this occured in 2600 Buolding I was going to move but I couldn't they moved me and my family to a bigger apartment in Later 2004 and that's when the real drama had begun Put it like this 2600 Building on 2602 Older women getting raped in the stairwell at night, people getting rob at gunpoint almost everyday, the police aint ---- around there I swear they will harrased you in a minute though I dont have enough room to put everything on here but I can tell you this it benn so many murders around here that you can't even imagine it's people living here now that doesn't have know were they just moved too It's so terrible around here that people opting out of there lease at night time and I'm next.
Construction- In the apartments know will never know that there walls are pre-painted which means it was just painted over a non fixed wall that's why the walls are so thin, piss be on the elevators and what not, and don't be a handicapp person because those elevators are very unsafe and I'm not talking about because of a electric storm it's on a day-to-day-basis.
Maintenance- Just plain lazy I swear to you, just here to collect a paycheck, and some of them will fix things and it still wouldn't work, they cry to much when they have to do there work in a tenant apartment, and will sometimes take up 2 months to do there work.
Office staff- Oh my god, Im Black and I'm telling you with no racial act, Upper Management need to put there own culture around here (the white ones only) the old staff, Sharon, Grenada, and Cynthia was very terrible and unprofessional, denise I love her with all my heart and wish her the best in her near future she earned every right to become Property Manager and her Co-Workers knew that that's why somebody or someone was trying to kill her and her son by a fire in there apartment that they didnt cause or do one of the Asst.Property Man. had a very nasty attitude who was thinking she was like that because she was ------- and sucking the police officer's ----, the Property Manager was just to nice and also Very unprofessional anytime you let your asst take your spot while you at work than you just plain weak and lazy period and last the supervisor she was stilling money left and right and was the caused of some bodies being found from what I heard from other tenets in Both Buildings, Actually I heard she was supposed to be one of the victims God Forbid. But the New Management is no diffrent in a way because they too much by the book and so much was going on before they got there and now they thinking that they going to turn everything around all of sudden Hell no impossible miracles don't happen overnight so take notes since they been here it been more problems(Female found dead in her apartment no Investigation no nothing, Women got raped mor than once, More than 2 robberies a week, some people didn't say certain ---- because they still live around there and waiting to move to tell it all like me, Tenants getting put out because of an issue with the old staff workers stealing money and illegaly rented out bad apartments that were already rented out to others and it's a new lady name Ms. Black who just think she's the ---- Well you better watch yourself sweetie I'm not threatining you but I learned a lot from the last staff workers because I was closed to one of them when you treat people wrong around there baby they will come back to haunt you there and it's that serious believe me you was cool to me but I'm only saying this to you if you ever read this post that the people that's in remington place now do not like you, I heard them myself.

Overall- I don't think this will be a good place, You dont know who to really trust around there because who you think is cool is really not, so take heed. Ms. Joyce and Donna is very nice that's my opinion it's just that Ms. Black has a little of grenada in her and she don't even know it, if I was her I would stop attitudes before she end up fired like grenada from negative complaints and she needs to know that everyone is still a human being not some animal, Tenants here are very high class and working class not section 8 class so remember that.
Recommendation- I dont recommend because it's not really safe around there honestly and the new management put up those false advertisements (If you lived here you will be home now, $99 Security Deposit) come on now stop all the -------- because you fixin to get sued.

And this is from a young family who experienced there first apartment for 2 years at Remington Place that was a living Hell for us, But one thing I learned though I will always look at apartment ratings before I moved to another apartment If I would've known all this before we moved here I wouldn't never had move there in the first place and that's my word I would rather live in dc and to end this right quick with this last comment, Do you know for the 2 years we been there we was never late nor missed a payment and been through all of this now that's a shame. (Wish everybody else the best of luck and don't move there by yourself).
DON'T MOVE HERE!!!

The grounds are well kept. The building needs some work. The biggest problem is that the leasing office (LO) treats its tenants with very little respect. They yell at them, argue with them, and on at least one occasion threatened to call the police to have a tenant physically removed from the leasing office although that tenant was simply disputing one of the LOs new policies. Several other examples of mistreatment. Around April of this year the LO attempted to institute a new parking policy. Leaseholders were given 1 parking sticker for each vehicle registered to the leaseholder at the Remington Place address. No unit could get more than 2 stickers. Leaseholders were given 1 visitors parking pass. Tenants's would have to pay $5.00 each for add'l temporary visitor's parking tag, which lasted 3-5 days, for each visitor, add'l vehicles belonging to the leaseholder, vehicles belonging to the leaseholder that did not have the Remington Place address on the vehicle registration form, or vehicles that didn't belong to the leaseholder (e.g., a child's vehicle, a work vehicle). After 3-5 days the tenant would have to renew the temporary tag by paying an addl $5.00. The parking area is more than abundant and this new policy was in opposition to our lease agreements. The LO would not listen to the tenants complaints and would make no exceptions. It wasn't until the management company (MC) was called that the parking fees were removed and leaseholder's individual circumstances were taken into consideration. The MC wasn't even aware that the LO was considering charging for visitors and other vehicles.
Secondly, the LO takes advantage of current tenants by charging higher rates to current tenants for apartments that are rented at a substantially lower rate to incoming tenants. When asked about this, the LO attempted to pass the lower rates off as "move-in specials". Upon further questioning, it was discovered that these were not move-in specials but the rates the apartments were being leased. They were unwilling to negotiate the rent for a tenant that had been living at the apartment for years. Rather, they were willing to allow that tenant to leave because of the higher than market rate rent and bear the burden of finding a new tenant, putting that new tenant into the very same apartment at a much lower rental rate, and paying the costs for having the apartment prepared for the new tenant (i.e., replace the carpet, paint the walls, etc.). The LO also treats their current tenants as if they are idiots -- they blamed the rental increase (more than a 10% increase) on the State and acted as if they had no control over the rising rates. Worst of all, as the rent for current tenants rises, the facilities have become less safe. This year alone Remington Place has suffered armed robbery and car jackings at gun point. Only a few years ago there was a terrible murder in broad daylight.
Great Place

While at Remington Place I enjoyed myself. Sharon the property manager is wonderful and when i had concerns she really helped me. I would tell her to fire cinthia and granada for poor attitudes and a complete lack of professionlism in my dealings with them. They need to take a page from Katrinna who was so very nice and courteous. I really miss the old assistant manager Robin and was glad when the chinese chick left because she was as dumb as a pile of ----in bricks. Denise is very professional and tries her best to help if she can. I would suggest that she not disclose office information to residents because you never know who's listening. E.I., me. The maintenace staff does a good job and thr new renovations are wonderful. The rent increases blow, and are ludicrious but overall is a good place to live. The officers suck and the female officer is a ------- ----- to absurd proportions. I want for people to take time and think about this; maybe it is the reisdents who are ------, loud and dirty. Management doesn't throw down trash or piss on elevators, thats residents. There are laws that govern selectivity in apt application process, the staff CANNOT discriminate. So to bad. If you dont like it then move. These are not houses just apartments. Remember that people.

From the time I was there (which was very short) only one staff person was "decent". She came in unaware of the situation there. I really hate the fact that the property manager and other staff members let her come in "blind" like that. The property manager and the assistant property manager and one leasing consultant are crooks and should be arrested.

BULLET through my bedroom window...among other things.

Yes, something out of a movie happened at the worst place i've ever lived--and ironically i've always lived in DC. At 4 in the morning last month a stray bullet came into my bedroom window where my daughter lays her head missing us by a foot or two; it went into my ceiling where PG police decided it was too far in to retrieve. The next morning Management took the complaint as if they come a dime a dozen; asked which apartment i lived in and practically hung up on me. Never asked my name, if anyone was harmed, if the police were involved or what needed to be repaired. Needless to say my ceiling still holds the bullet and Large bullet hole. My shades hang due to the impact and after all this...guess what?

The NEXT DAY Management called me on my cell phone to ask when was I renewing my lease.

If you absolutely have no other choice but to live here....do as I did and get 3 jobs then you wants know about killings and being robbed because 99% of the time I wasn't here experiencing smell of drugs, urine on the elevator, water outage, heat outage, killings in the stairwells and breakins. Good Things: I have a place to lay my head at nights.

Bad things: Even though the management come off to be nice, they are really sneaky and very unprofessional. I“ve heard them tell a future tenant that there apartment was not ready for them to move in. Then as soon as the tenants left out they laughed and said that the apartment was ready and that she was just pissed because the tenants were harrassing her about moving in. And that they were getting on her nerves. I gave them a time when I had to be in the apartment, I also gave them the security deposit, appl. fee, and holding fee and they still could not give me an exact date of when I could move in after telling me before they had my money that they could get me in before my move date. When I finally got an answere of when I could move in and paid the 1st months rent, the apartment was not all I expected it to be. The refrigerator was about 100yrs old, the paint job sucked, and at first glance I couldn“t tell if the carpet was just dirty or an ugly color. I needed a place right away and I had no choice but if I had the choice I definately would not be here. I have not been in my apartment very long and already I have had leaks, roaches, and no show“s when I“ve called for repair.
And please do not mention the noise. I have been woken by numerous horn blowing, kids running up and down the hall giggling, neighbors banging on the wall, loud music at all times of the day, outside noise (big trucks, people talking, can even hear as people are walking to the front door). The walls have got to be paper thin around here.
And security? What security? I“ve seen them all about 4 times and each time they don“t look like they securing anything but themselves. But I think if management was doing a better job and maintenance would not take so long in fixing things when called. I could probably bare with everything else. But unfortunately it“s all messed up.

People have been beaten up in the stairwells and are constantly threatened by smart-assed gangsta-wannabes at the entrances. About half the time the elevators are trashed or urinated in. Air conditioning and heat go out an average of once a month (sometimes more). Front office staff is there to collect a paycheck and that“s pretty much it. Maintenance guys do a ggod job (when they finally get around to it), but I“ve had them in my apartment without my knowledge several times (a very serious Landlord/Tenant violation). Constant noise from ill-mannered tenants slamming doors and pounding on walls, ceilings, and floors. Tenants above me sound like elephants humping half the time. People constantly driving up to the front entrance and honking their horns at all hours. Not proven, but some drug dealing appears to have been going on. Rents go up with no increase in quality. The presence of police officers in the building is a joke...you never see them and things like broken car windows constantly go on. Spend the extra few dollars for security, peace, and quiet some place else.

No- thats an understatement- If they showed any degree of so-called unprofessionalism it would be a huge improvement to whatever it is that they are exhibiting in their rental office now.

I brought 2 money orders in- One for the application fee and the other for the $75 "hold" fee. The paperwork clearly said that it was non-refundable after 48 hours but they said that it would take a week to find out if I could be approved. They told me that I could get my hold deposit back if I decided not to take the apartment after that. To make a long story short it was the old bait and swap trick. I was not going to get my deposit back. This was fine because I really wanted to rent there. They lost copies of my pay stubs 3 times and lost my application twice and other countless documents like proof of employment, rental history, etc.. was always getting mixed up in their paperwork. After all of that they refused to let me see the apartment until I paid the security deposit. Again, it didn“t seem like an unreasonable request because I really needed an apartment. When I inquired about having it refunded to me, I was asked if I was ready to move in. I could not make a decision on an apartment that I had not seen so then they said that they really cant show me anything until I was ready to sign a lease.

Apparently they had something to hide or perhaps they still questioned my level of commitment even though I made several trips to their office and sent them multiple copies of documents that they lost.

If this is how a potential customer gets treated I would hate to see how they treat their tenants.

                                    I“ve seen worse!!!

Its an ok apartment complex to reside. They“ve made some effort to make positive changes since I“ve last seen the buildings a few years back (new mailboxes, fresh paint, eaiser on the eyes). Cleaning and security (a police officer lives on my floor) are always present in some way, shape, or form. The negative part is that repairs take forever to be complied and sometimes I don“t think they complete half the request. Another thing, this property mgmt co. needs to find a new leasing staff. They are the epitome of "------". I think they steal $$$ too.
Anyway, it could be much worse (no drug dealers on corners, quiet enough, relatively safe). Every man/woman for him/herself at Remington Place...such is life.

                                      THIEVES

The management staff are ------ and they are thieves. I was going to move to Remington Place but had to pull back my application. I had paid the application fee and a $75.00 fee to "hold" the apartment. Well, if it turns out that I wouldn“t be able to move there, doesn“t that mean I would get the "hold" fee back. I did my application in July and wasn“t moving until mid-September. I was told to leave the $75.00 money order blank and when I asked for it back, they told me "oh, no, you don“t get that back." Since the money order was left blank, my money order can be cashed by anyone. Has any one else experienced anything like this?

Remington Place isn“t safe. I was afraid to go out at night because of all the crime in the area. Purse snatchings, cars getting broken into. About a month before I left, somebody in my building was shot and killed in there apartment. This place is poorly run and it leaves a lot to be desired. I“m glad I don“t live there anymore.

Not the greatest place, but not the worst

What I liked: PARKING-there“s plenty of it. You can stay out real late on weekends and come back and still get a decent spot. LANDSCAPE-nicely done with a lot of trees and shrubs and nicely cut grass. LOCATION-Just off busy Brinkley road but you feel your away from everything. Close to DC and shopping. Metro has a stop outside the complex. SWIMMING POOL-big and clean.

What I didn“t like: OFFICE STAFF------- attitudes. Tenants are disrespected and they act like they“re doing you a favor. MAINTENANCE-Takes forever to get anything done. OTHER-doors slammin“ at all hours, kids settin“ off fire alarms, AC breaks down every summer, hot water gets shut off a lot, and every year the rent just keeps going up and you don“t get a lot in return.

Remington Place is NOT the place

Don“t let the Fort Washington address fool you, there“s nothing classy about this place. In fact, its a dump! Ever since me and my wife moved into this sorry place last year, we“ve had nothing but trouble. Nothing in this place works. The elevators are dirty and go out of service often, the stairwells stink and are full of graffeti and the plumbing is bad. Real bad! In the time we“ve been here, we“ve been without hot water at least three or four times and just last month, during the big blizzard, we went without heat for a whole day!

Our apartment is just as bad too. The carpet is badly worn, the bathroom walls are full of mildew, we got an old refrigerator that hardly keeps the food cold, and the kitchen light switch doesn“t work. When we told the front office about all the things that needed to be done, we were promised they“d have it done in about a week. Well, it“s been six months now and the only thing the maintenance crew, if that“s what you want to call them, "fixed" is the faucet in our bathroom. But guess what? It still leaks! They told us there was nothing they could do about the mildew. They said we“d have to go out and buy a bottle of Tilex and clean it off ourselves. They also said that as long as the refrigerator was working they weren“t going to give us a new one. Even though the people across the hall from us got a new refrigerator just the other day. So why didn“t we? No answer. They also said that the carpet wasn“t worn that bad but that we should get someone from Sears to come over and steam clean it. “Scuse me, isn“t that what your supposed to do?!

We also have a neighbor who likes to have her TV on real loud at all hours and she has a dog that won“t shut up. That really makes us mad because the lease says tenants aren“t supposed to have pets!!! Not only that but every time her gangsta boyfriend comes over, they get in an argument and you can hear everything they say because the walls around here are real thin too.

When we complained about our neighbor and her loud TV, they told us we should call 911. And when we told them she kept a dog in her apartment, they told us there was nothing they could do about it. When I pointed out that tenants weren“t supposed to have pets because it says so in the lease, all they said was they“d make a note of my complaint. I asked them why couldn“t they just make her get rid of the dog and they said it would be too hard to do. That“s so typical of the people who run this sorry place. Their lazy, rude, unprofessional, and incompetent and they don“t care about the tenants or the property their supposed to manage. There“s no way I“d recommend this place to anyone.

But praise God! For the Lord is good. Because He got us a nice home in Upper Marlboro and we“ll be going to settlement next week and as soon as that“s done, we“re outta here! And believe me, that can“t happen soon enough!
