DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX!!!!
Management is horrible!!! Maintenance has to be called multiple times before they will fix anything & when they do come to your apt. They only put a temporary fix on what needs to be done. They will try to squeeze every penny from you that they can. The notice to vacate for them is 60 days & if you don't give them 60 days notice they will screw you over in the worst possible way claiming you have to pay an extra months rent & if you don't they will report you to collections regardless of the fact that you paid every months rent on time for the full extent of your lease. Trust me when I say this is the worst place in the world to live. I wish I had read these reviews before I rented an apt. there. This is by far the worst apt. complex I have ever had the misfortune to live in. Parking is ok be could be better. You can hear you neighbors very well, & I do mean very well!!! Especially when you don't want to hear them & they wouldn't want you to hear them either (like when they areā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Avoid this place like the plague
Very Very bad management. Fees and fines for everything they can think of and they are very creative, be prepared to pay. Dont give a dam about the tenants, only getting as much of your money as possible. I had problems from the first time I dealt with them, silly me for still moving in. A bunch of young want to be managers who dont have a clue about how to deal with people.

Poor management mars an otherwise acceptable complex
My review for the complex and maintenance: Well maintained, older apartment complex, with reasonable maintenance turn around. In my experience, problems that are reported generally are dealth with in a reasonable time, although in some cases it may take a reminder or two if the problem is minor. The grounds are well kept, and the management has recently put some effort into making needed updates (refresh parking lines with new paint, updated washing machines, and a new valet trash service ($25/month, required). Pets are allowed, and the community is generally friendly. Crime is an issue, including break-ins (car, apartment) and an rape in Feb 2010, with little evidence of increased security; residents have asked for increased lighting, cameras, and security since then, with little evidence of progress (still many lights out at night, no cameras, and the increased patrols only lasted a couple of weeks). My review for the management: You will be nickel and dimed for everything. EVERYTHING. Also, I've lived under the new management for about a year and a half, and of those 18 months, I had mysterious "fees" added to my account that, when protested, mysteriously disappear. Don t go there
It awful place dirty and very bad maintained.everything is paint all over and you can even clean it.Fungus on the windows, the pool was always dirty ,no one was cleaning the birds'droppings and the gym had all the machines out of use.Dont wait for the return of the deposit at all although its $500,the managers are sarcastic and verry rude and dont want to help you at all.price of the shuttle:$2 you cant break the leasing contract even if you inform them 60 days in advance you have to pay back much(read the small letters of the contract).Laundry machines very expensive and all the time with problems

if you have a better choice ..go for it
i am living here for 4 months..wanna start with my issues first..lot of roaches..small and big in the kitchen..actually everywhere..thief in the laundry room..my clothes were stolen from the dryer..some people here are very desperate..steal even clothes..can't believe it..small kitchen and small bathroom. they have a couple set of people working in the office..they seem confused sometimes..do not know or follow the another sets of colleges..if you contact with one team..another team may not know about your request or complain..need to talk to the new team and start from square one ..again..again.. nice location..big and spacious room..shuttle to med ctr..friendly bus drivers and rental fee is reasonable.. if you have better choice..go for it..if not..it is OK here..just ignore the bad part..

Hate This Place---Please Don't Move Here
Please don't move here. You can go anywhere but please do yourself a favor and don't move here. The staff are horrible and they will try to squeeze every dollar out of you. There are so many fees to pay in this apartment, including trash fee, trash VIP fee, gas, utility, maintenance fee in addition to your rent. The staff are a punch of snobs who won't help you when you needed there help and will always try to get your money any way they can. I paid a month's rent and they told me I hadn't, we had to look up at by bank account and we saw my check was withdrawn by them that month. They said it's already in the system and they can't take it out. I was either gonna have to pay for the "late fee" or break my contract. Then in the later part of the year they charge me for some ridiculous fee that I never thought existed before. When I end my contract I called in to let them know I will end it and ask them to call me back. They never did; then when I come in several days laterā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Terrible staff and service
Don't ever consider this apartment! I and my friends applied for a room here and we waited for a month for their response. We called several times during our waiting and never got a response. They treated us rudely when we asked them to give our money back and cancel the application. What's more, we heard that there were a lot of break-ins happening here. Water and electricity were off for a month last year. So, never consider this terrible property

Do not Lived Here Bad Management...
If you're smart enough to read this website, heed the advice of all these residents. These people will squeeze every penny out of you they can. The neighbors have really gone down hill since I've lived here. They don't provide basic security, including even having all the outside lights on. I keep to myself and am never late on a payment, which apparently means they should not raise the rent on me. Please, stay away from this apartment if you can... there is always a break in and the management doesn t do anything about it. The management are so stupid, if I will put it that way. They don't care about who lives in the apartment or your property. Don't move in here, stay away. I am about leaving soon. Worst place ever to stay at, the reasons are below: -African Americans are always outside watching for people, asking for money or help. Great place for the price
I originally moved into Brompton Court about two years ago when I got a job in the Med Center. There have been a lot of changes with the new management, some are good and some are bad. My rent was increased this year by a significant amount, but when I went in and spoke to them, the gentlemen I spoke with was able to assist me with the price a bit so that I could stay. Since it's an older place, there have been some issues in my apartment with my air conditioning, but maintenance has come out each time and taken care of it pretty quickly. I was happy to get the valet trash service last month because I had it in another complex I lived at. They missed my trash one night but when I emailed the office to let them know, they picked it up for me. I also saw complaints about parking when I moved here, but I use the shuttle service and also reserved a space so parking isn't really a problem for me. But, now all the spots around my apartment are reserved now. Overall? There's aā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Confused by these ratings!!
I have lived here since October of 2010 and have actually really injoyed living here. I just moved my family in with me and they love it here. The little store they have is absolutely great and I find myself there almost everyday getting something for the house or to snack on. This is the only place I found that has a shuttle bus. I do not have a car and since my mother is in the med center it is very cheap for me to get a ride using the bus. I have had a few maintenence issues but they have always been taken care of very quickly. My apartment is huge and I have never seen aparments this big for the money that I pay in rent. I have spoken with several people in the office and they have been very nice to me and my family and definately went the extra mile to make sure had the perfect apartment. I have referred several of my friends here and they all love living here. The parking is GREAT!! I have never had any parking issues and the Garages are close to my apartment. Stay Away
They've just turned the water off in Building Two for the third time in three days, and the second time since 10:30 last night. At least this time they're not blaming it on the city, which is what they've done the other six times they've turned off the water since July of last year. They also have a problem keeping the electricity on, as the complex has lost power about five times over the past year -- you find yourself holding your breath whenever a slight breeze starts to stir for fear that the power will go out. Good luck finding parking as most of the parking now consists of empty reserved spots that are never used. And the place is also on it's fourth crew of office personnel in about a year, with each new staff being worse than the one before. The place is a mess. Don't make my mistake. Stay away.

This Apartment has been stadily declining in the past few years
Upon renewal now, in addition to increased rent, there will be a (non-negotiable) $25 a month fee for valet trash that does not pick up on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It is a worthless service since dumpsters are all over the complex and very close to every building. It is noisy hearing them picked up each night and you have to do so between designated times (6-8 PM) so if you work hours that are different than that or don't get to it in time you have to wait. It is utterly more pain than it is worth. The building roofs are shedding tiles. The neighbors are not too loud - it is the terrible insulation. You can hear domestic spats that are really nothing but are louder than they need to be because there is nothing keeping their noise from your apartment. You can hear anytime someone walks with creeking and thumps. The pools are not heated any more, one used to be year round; it is not now. The parking is ample, but it is not well lit. The washers and dryers require a credit care, and most of theā¦Ā See More>anonymous

this place is terrible
Everything they say it's true: the water and electricity really do go out every few Weeks and yet the rent goes up every year. New management is terribly rude. They recently replaced all the washers and dryers with more expensive models that break twice as often. They are forcing us all to use a new valet trash service that we have to pay for whether er want to use it or not. there is no upside to living here. I would not recommend this run down money hole to my worst enemy.

You get what you pay for
This place is what can only be described as a serious lesson in weighing the pros and cons: On the one hand, location is spectacular and compared to the complexes surrounding it the price is incredibly low. Sound proofing seems to be pretty good as well, as I have rarely heard a peep from any of my neighbors unless I'm passing right by their front door. Maintenance is fairly quick about getting someone in to fix a problem. These units are also very large, and designed in such a way that a tenant doesn't have to try very hard to utilize all the space available. The convenience store located within the complex is also a decent plus. The atmosphere outside is pretty nice, lots of greenery line the roads within and it feels almost like a small community unto itself. On the other hand, this place is old. It's old enough that the lease still has bits in it regarding lead paint and asbestos that is still in each unit. Because it is so old, many of the complaints outlined in other reviews here are absolutely true. Things break down a lot. Recently, the power shorted in half of my unit and when I called maintenance to deal with it, theyā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Thanks!
I lived there from 1982-88 and loved it. Oh yeah there were problems with water and occasionally electrical service but considering my options this place was doable. But in the end it was a female manager with a huge chip on her shoulder that ran me off. And her failure to clean or replace my rugs. I again find myself in the apartment market and would like to return to the area but with reports of deterorating conditions I will not be returning to Brompton Courts

A Fair Analysis
My experience has not been as bad as some of the other reviews, but I can see how others might have had bad experiences, and I don't doubt the truth of the other reviews I've read. That said, I can only account for what I've experienced. First with the good: You do get a lot of space for what you pay. Right now I'm paying $771 for 850 square feet. When the new management came in and raised everybody's rates, their argument was that the old management was going out of business because they were offering unsustainable rates. Whether that is true or not, I cannot say, but it makes sense. If you look at the apartments accross the street (which my husband and I did when confronted with the rate increase) you will find that you get a lot less space for more money. Now, do I think I am getting a huge deal because Brompton is cheaper? Not necessarily. The apartments accross the street are much newer, with newer appliances, they don't charge for laundry, etc. We just decided space was a more important factor for us. Bromptonā¦Ā See More>anonymous

I totally agree that Merion Management is terrible
I have lived here for ~ 2.5 years. The previous management company (Rockwell Management) was amazing. I had absolutely no complaints. Ever since ~ October 2010, Merion managment company took over, and there goal is to take advantage of everyone who lives here and bleed them dry. I have never written an apartment review before, but a recent change has incited me to do so. First, let me say that I promise, that you will get a ~$80 rent increase every year. Second, they try to make changes to "improve" the quality of the place. However, the changes are things that no one cares about. For instance, now they are starting up a valet trash service, but now, you will have to pay an extra $25 per month (Mandatory). Third, they allow you to park in unreserved parking spots, but if someone decides to reserve the parking spot that your car happens to be in, and let's say you haven't driven your car in 3 days. Well guess what? Your car will have been towed, and you will have to pay every day that the car is in theā¦Ā See More>Robertr06

Terrible Place To Live
Brompton Court is a terrible place to live, and I do not recommend it to anyone. - The water and electricity go out randomly once every 2 or 3 weeks. Management's reply to these complaints is "It's the city's fault, not ours". They do not understand that the tenants don't care where the fault lies. We just want power and water. - The fixtures are old and shabby. Our kitchen drawers break constantly. - The exercise room is pathetic. - The pools are pathetic. - They do not empty their dumpsters frequently enough. I uploaded a picture I took while walking to my car this morning so you can see that I'm not exaggerating. The 3 dumpsters have been full all weekend and there are at least 2 more dumpster loads of trash piled around the full dumpsters. I have complained to management about this issue on several occassions, but they have not added more dumpsters or increased the frequency of when the dumpsters are emptied. It is terrible property management and is very inviting to pests and rodents. - On top of all this, Brompton Court asked to raise our rentā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Staff, if you're reading this, most of you are OBNOXIOUS punks who don't give a damn and get away with it. Karma karma karma. Bad lighting, day break-in's on rise, residents held up at gun point that mgmt refused to report accurately never mentioning the gunpoint part, LOUD washer/dryer units because they're cheap and old!, and LOUD inefficient old air conditioning units that make it impossible to enjoy sitting on your deck, rattling stairways outside your door, no security guard, no security cameras, old workout equipment, small TV's in gym, broken mailbox, holes and lumps underneath carpet in my flooring. . was managed by Rockwell Management. My girlfriend foolishly moved into these apartments. The complex is NOT in a good part of town. She's had at least one attempted break-in, and the apartment notified the tenants of several armed robberies in the immediate area -- some presumably within the complex. She's been whistled at and yelled at by large groups of unsavory characters on multiple occasions. I cannot stress enough how unhelpful the staff has been and how little they care about the safety of their tenants. I bought my girlfriend mace and a baseball bat after my first visit, and visit often to ensure her safety. He Entrance Gate Was Always Malfunctioning. & Worst of All the Office Employees Would Promise to Deal With All the Problems But Never Would. If You Feel the Need to Live Like Scum, By All Means RENT AT Brompton Court APARTMENTS. But If You Want To Live & Be Treated Like A Respectable Human Being, By All Means RENT ELSEWHERE. Stop the lies, this place isn't bad at all and I am sad to be leaving :(
I live in a huge 1bed, 1bath apartment--950 square foot! I have hardwood floors and have two walk-in closets! For $819 (although current rate may be higher)! The complex is well kept and the new managing company (they took over about a year ago) is doing a decent job. The only time I needed maintenance (AC problems during the summer), they showed up consistently and timely (although the underlying issues was never fixed, so the problem kept reoccurring). Did i mention the proximity to highway 59, TMC, and downtown? My only caveat--my apartment has street access, so I parked on the street. As such, I cannot speak on any parking issues. Although the few times i tried, i will admit that it was difficult finding a spot on ground level due to a high number of reserved spots the several. I am not sure what people expect. If you want to pay $2,200 there are plenty of apartments that will gladly take your money, so be my guest.
