Never ever live here unless you want to regret
I have lived at Brompton Court for one year. I came to Houston and picked Brompton because it is close to medical center. The first few months is fine until The building was purchased by Merion Realty Management in late 2010, things have gone down hill quite quickly after. The old staff, friendly and rarely make mistakes, were all fired when Merion took over and replaced with a group of young people who just graduated with their business degree. There's nothing wrong with that, per se, except the leasing office staff has been surprisingly unhelpful, rude, and mike mistakes all the time. It's not uncommon to go to the office to ask a question or get a package and sit there waiting for 5 to 10 minutes without even being spoken too. I once went down for package, the lady told me it was not there after a brife look and told me "ask the person to send you again", however, it was a Fedex package and the tracking record clearly said it had been delivered a few days ago with even a signiture. I had to go back a second time and finally another guy got it for me. ā¦Ā See More>anonymous

HELL WITH THIS PLACE DO NOT LIVE HERE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...
I have lived here for a year and I would like to warn everyone against coming here. The rent has become astronomical and the apartments are old and run down. The maintenance people take forever to fix anything and the airconditioners are so old that I spend a fortune on electricity costs every month. The management are also misleading making promises and then changing things. New management has taken over and they are really rude .... especially once you have signed your lease and need help with anything. Rather go across the road to Berkshires on Brompton, much lower rent and apartments are new... also their laundry facilities are free ! I am going to be moving there ! Can't wait to get out of this hole that is Brompton Court ! Please save yourself alot of headaches and go somewhere else HELL WITH YOU APRIL AND BROMPTON COURT STAFF AND F**K STAFF OF BROMPTON COURT AND YOU TO MERION F**K YOU. THIS IS A WROST MANGERMENT IN THIS TOWN. IT WAS RUN ALOT BETTER WITH ROCKWELL I HOPE SOMEDAY YOU WILL GO BANK RUP....

Never Never Lived Here you be Sorry..
My girlfriend foolishly moved into these apartments. The complex is NOT in a good part of town. She's had at least one attempted break-in, and the apartment notified the tenants of several armed robberies in the immediate area -- some presumably within the complex. She's been whistled at and yelled at by large groups of unsavory characters on multiple occasions. I cannot stress enough how unhelpful the staff has been and how little they care about the safety of their tenants. I bought my girlfriend mace and a baseball bat after my first visit, and visit often to ensure her safety. he Entrance Gate Was Always Malfunctioning. & Worst of All the Office Employees Would Promise to Deal With All the Problems But Never Would. If You Feel the Need to Live Like Scum, By All Means RENT AT Brompton Court APARTMENTS. But If You Want To Live & Be Treated Like A Respectable Human Being, By All Means RENT ELSEWHERE. Courtesy patrol are a joke. There is only one here during the day and what he just sit all day and DO NOT DO ONE Thing If you have noisy neighbors you are just out of luck. Theā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Staff and waiting for an oppurtunity to take as much money from you as possible
Since the time i moved being an old carpet always found Roaches and other bugs everyday ,pest control came only twice in 12 months,My apartment was damp all time, overall i never had so many problems in my previous 3 years living of other apartments then what i had in last 12 months that i lived, lots of break ins ,so be careful once you enter and always ask for new carpet since they trick you giving old carpet and when you move out charge you for the new carpet so no matter what is the age of carpet, you are responsible for replacement cost.if it had happened to anyone before please reply me. If you decide to move right small detailed problems about the apartment, even a small scratch since they do not care to come with you to do the move in inspection but when you move out everybody gets alert and look for small thing so that they can charge you and then they take your deposit and charge more to,all the apartments from Finger companies you will find complains where they have taken money from tenants/would be tenants for very simple reasons,so just be very careful.Do not think about howā¦Ā See More>Whisper09

Minor Complaints if any
I don't know why this complex receives so much crap from reviewers, honestly, it's like I don't live in the same place. I've been here for 5 months now, so I don't know what the management was like in 2009 - 2010 but I haven't had any problems now, I however rarely see them unless I'm getting a package or something. Yes I have had the water turned off; however, I either received notice the day before or I could clearly see people working on the pipes. I normally get up early and shower so I have never been badly effected by the water thing. It's an old complex, and with the recent heat I don't know why people think nothing ever happens to the water pipes... You can't complain that things need to be updated and fixed then complain more when they actually do get fixed... I don't know what sort of witchcraft some people believe allows water to come from your faucet, but last I checked, it comes from the water pipes that need to be fixed sometimes. I haven't had power go out unless it was storming, which... being in a drought itā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Worst Apartment Complex Ever!
I have been living at Brompton Court for almost three years and I have seen it go from a nice complex to a slum. The Ken and Barbie management are really a joke. They claim to be making lots of improvements to the complex, but the only improvements are in the front office so the staff can have a nice place to stay out of the heat. Problems: 1) NO HOT WATER! 2) Security lighting in the hallways never work 3) Light fixtures that get broken are never repaired 4) The floors in the hallways are cracked and broken out, a tripping hazard for sure 5) Pool care is non-existant recently (the guy that did this before must have been fired because I never see him anymore) 6) The staff never answers the phone when you have a problem 7) They are johnny on the spot with rent notices, too bad they can't be that quick with repairs 8) They allow State Farm Insurance to block the exit gate at 6:30 in the morning to hussle for customers. Good idea since no one has to go to work that early! Right? 9) ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES! I am afraid of being carried off in theā¦Ā See More>anonymous

not worth leasing here...PLEASE READ
I moved into the complex in January 2011. From the first day I moved in, I already had problems. The people in the office and I had scheduled my date of move in prior, and I had numerously emailed them several times confirming my move-in date and with questions I had. They were very aware of my move-in date. However, on my move-in date I arrived at the complex with my uhaul and family who took the day off work to help me move in. Our first stop was the leasing office to get the keys so we could unload...and come to find out THE OFFICE WAS CLOSED! I was pissed because we had already established a date. After numerous phone calls a maintenance person called one of the leasing agents (ironically the agent who I had been emailing and who we had signed the rental agreement with) and she opened up the office and got our keys...she said she had simply forgot to tell me that the office was going to close that day. It wasn't even a holiday. Also, my fiance's car was stolen from the parking garage about a month ago. when I calledā¦Ā See More>tenfold

OK complex
Well I am a bit surprised by tons of negative stuff that I see here. This apartment complex has its pros and cons but I can`t say it is a nightmare. I`ve been living here for 2.5 years without major issues so far. Good stuff: - large apartments - (usually) no problem with parking - has 5 pools, well maintained area - maintenance is good, all orders are done promptly (so far). Has free pest control service. - has shuttle service (although I use it only a couple of times per year) - convenient location for TMC people - office staff is nice (at least to me although I don`t show there too often) Bad stuff: - some criminal activity from time to time. I saw a patrolling police officer not sure if that helped. - prices go up. This is ridiculous. Come on, 900 bucks for a 1 bedroom in this complex? Back in spring I was lucky to negotiate my price down to what I`ve paid so far but my friends say the management has recently stopped negotiations and raised prices up to $150 more per 1 bedroom. People start to leave - and they don`t need to go far, we have good options literally acrossā¦Ā See More>anonymous

Ugly but alright
These apartments are mostly old and ugly. The hallways are absolutely horrible, long narrow and dark. But it is my feeling that if you come and see the unit and know that the apartments are old that you must be prepared to live with a few inconveniences such as rust in your tap water, more than average works and the occasional water and electrical blackouts (they occur mostly during work hours), although they are starting to become less occasional than one would think. However, they do offer a particularly spacious apartments for a reasonable price and they seem to have a large variety of floor plans and flooring (carpet/wood) available. As for the management I have been able to resolve several billing issues with them (that were my fault) without having to pay a penalty. Compared to other apartments where I have lived this would not have happened, additional I did not have to put down a deposit, unlike other places. If you are looking for a spacious, cheap apartment in a good area that is close to medical center and you dont mind a bit of old then I would recommend these apartments.

Ruined by new management
I have lived at Brompton Court, in the same apartment, for three years. I came to Houston for law school and picked Brompton because it has a great location and, at the time, the size of the apartments and low rent made it the best deal I had seen. The buildings and landscaping is beautiful and the residents are all really friendly. There are a few families, but there are a lot of students and people who work in the med center. Many patients visiting the med center for treatment will also live here because they offer short term leases. Overall, I loved Brompton Court - for two years, anyway. The last year has been horrendous, as the reviews here indicate. The building was recently purchased by Merion Realty Management, a real estate investment firm that specializes in purchasing "underperforming assets" to make "capital improvements" and "increase revenue" - which is fancy talk for buys up apartments complexes to raise the rent. This wouldn't be so bad if they actually made any improvements (and I've been surprised that my rent was the same for 3 years anyway). Instead, things have gone down hill quite quickly. The old staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. However,ā¦Ā See More>stud11

New management horrible!
This place looks ok on the oustside (landscaping etc) but all stairs and hallways are never cleaned. Staff not kind at all, when you speak to them it sounds like they don't really care about the residents at all. Apartments are old, one of my walls had moist internally and they came several times and kept saying it was ok, it even had a stain and had this stench I could not get rid of because of the humidity inside of it. They do NOT replace the carpets before you move in! They will keep as much as they can from your deposit, they'll come up with something. Overpriced, I only stayed there because I was a student and it was the only thing I could afford near the medical center... for that price range it was the only one not on Reliant Stadium area which I heard is more dangerous, we still had many incidents, assaults, robberies etc... It was a little better with the previous management, they where not perfect but a least the staff was more polite and showed a little more kindness...

none-star Property
We moved out on early June 2011 and have not yet received my move-out statement. At first they sent a wrong one to us. This Tuesday, we called Brompton they told us that the new statement was sent out this Monday. When I asked how much deposit I could get back, the answer shocked me: we can get nothing from $500 deposit and also need to pay extra $70 dollars!!! I could not understand how they could charge that much. We actually made an appointment to do the walkthrough, but when I returned the keys, they just told me that the manager was out. It seemed like they did not want to do the walkthrough with you at all. Since I have to leave Houston, I cannot wait any more. That apartment is really bad. I wish I could give none-star.

Please Do not move Here.
Living in one of their apartment over a year. The experience of dealing with the staff was exhausting. If you ask them to call for repairman, they would always tell you: yes, we'll get that fix today. But NEVER!!! I called 3 times just for a broken light. Even just a little thing could take over a week. They are very lay-back and irresponsible. Sometimes you just walk in directly they would give you attitude....The only thing they are efficient in is asking you to pay the rent and getting your contract done. The apartments are old and worn. That s why mice and rats showed up in our room. We asked them to seal the holes that way pests can't come again. But they just never get it done. I really regret about the place I stay. I wish somebody wrote this review before I move. And the water Pipes Breaks so much It has Broke about 3 times a week and the water is Turn off with out them telling you about it they even hire a security guard He do not do anything just sit in a Chair all day on the other side of theā¦Ā See More>horribleplace000

DO NOT LIVE HERE
I completely agree with ALLLLLLLL these reviews everyone living here and potential renters. DRIVE BY and DO NOT STOP IN cause it may seem like a GREAT (sarcasm) place to live but THIS PLACE is not worth the money they nickle and dime you over. Sewer pipes always break. Water and electricity go out. Work orders are NEVER inputted and the staff act like they are entering it and act concerned. I would be ashamed to run a business the way this place is ran..I really would be ashamed. As cheap and convenient as this place may be.....and I do mean cheap...DO NOT LIVE HERE. You will regret it. Drive through this lovely establishment (sarcasm) and you'll see that lights fixtures flicker, the building is completely shifting and I wonder who the building inspector is cause I'll be glad to show them the cracks in my walls, ceilings, closet doors off set. Excuse after excuse is all you get from not only the property manager but the staff as well. Lets see...shutters are falling down making this place look like the projects...BELIEVE ME. New management awful not good at all
We have been living in Brompton for about 3.5years and the new management is awful. They do not care for their residents interests at all. Instead of addressing the concerns and fixing the problems of the residents they try to give you their unnecessary advice. In a recent event of power outage at my apartment, which was an isolated incident because of breaker issue, the management asks to go out shopping and eat out since they cannot assure us when they can fix the problem. we were without power all night. This power outage was a bonus apart from regular power outages we have and frequent water shut downs. This management does not communicate well with its residents and they are rude at times. They have their ears closed to residents concerns or requests and simply want to increase the rents by 20%. Cant wait for the lease to end and move out of Brompton. Enough is enough cant live the roaches around.

At Brompton Court the Office staff lies too much, they are racist, if you do not speak English very well they will treated you in a unrespectful, rude, or non courteous way, they . They will do not made valid the offers they give for the Americans residents. After 6 months living there they increased my rent rate 21% and this is a special offer , but if I do not answer this offer in least that 8 days the rate will increase 54%. This is ridiculous, an old place full of cockroaches! That have bad odor. The free pool WiFi never work. Paz Vital

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!
BROMPTON COURT APARTMENTS ARE HORRIBLE!!!! In the 3 months that I lived at Brompton court the refrigerator, oven, and washing machine broke. The free pool wifi never worked, although I was told by the management that I wouldn't have to purchase internet service prior to moving in b/c I was paying more for the apartment. In addition, the management could never say when the wifi would be fixed. That's b/c it never was. The building is so old that rust comes out of all of the faucets and the has a bad odor and taste. I had to buy bottle water the entire time I lived there. The management is absolutely terrible and has no clue about customer service. When I did get to move out I was fined $75 to have the old carpet cleaned. Keep in mind I was there 3 months and thoroughly cleaned the carpets prior to my move. In addition, there was no inspection where you could discuss or dispute the charges. They come several weeks later in the mail. Don't bother trying to reason with the management, they are complete jerks!...Thanks Jason.

THEY SEEM INCAPABLE OF TELLING THE TRUTH.
Just went through another water outage and another power outage. The worse thing about the outages it that the office LIES repeatedly about the reasons. for example, this last water outage was NOT the city of Houston, it was a property water line, but the office says emphatically, that it is the city. No city trucks ever showed up to fix the problem and they lie about these outages so much that i can not believe any thing that they say about any thing. They have lost any trust that i might have ever had in them. they seem to think lying to their customers has no consequences. it actually violates state law. the Texas attorney general takes a very dim view on businesses that lie in order to either gain new business, or to retain current customers. they lie to us thinking that we will be more more likely to renew our leases, it is deceptive and they will be held accountable. I hope that the Texas Real Estate commission and the Better business bureau and Houston Apartment association take this seriously. in any case, i know the media will have aā¦Ā See More>unhappyrenterinhouston

Avoid Brompton Court
I'm finally leaving, and I couldn't be happier. This apartment is awful. As I sit writing this, two days after the last power outage, I currently have no running water. I'd love to say it's an isolated incident, but it's not. The power has gone out no fewer than four times this year, with each outage lasting longer than 8 hours. I had been told that this would have been fixed by now, but it's not. The management have offered absolutely nothing in the way of paying back residents for their continued patience and for their loss of food due to these outages. Usually, they simply won't apologize either. Not only this, but they're also insisting on rent increases in the ballpark of 20%, and apparently, Marion (The management company) has said that the office staff are not allowed to negotiate with residents. When they took over the accounts here, they fired the good property managers, Eric and Kitt, and replaced them with fast-talking, uncaring salespeople who have no true interest in their residents. I was told six months ago that they knew what the problem was with the power, and they wereā¦Ā See More>anonymous

I'm sorry, is this a third world country?
This place can't seem to keep it's utilities functioning!!! Every other month at least the power goes out for no reason for an extended period of time. Once it was out for 36 hours and I had to trash everything in my fridge. When I complain to the managent all I hear is "I live here, too." ok...that's supposed to make me feel better how?? At the moment, my water is out. Another not infrequent occurrence! DO NOT live here. The new management is the worst ever.

The new management is horrible. The maintenance is slow, they use to be great. I have been a resident for years & after the new management I am leaving after my lease is up. They are unprofessional & dont have good customer service at all. I LOVED it hear before the new management. I have spoken with a few other long term residents here and they are leaving as well. Don't do it
While the actual apartment space on the 1st floor is quite nice, the logistics and management at Brompton is inefficient and unstable. The mailing system is poor. On several occasions, I did not receive packages and very urgent mail was sent back to the sender. The communication among staff is inconsistent. If one person says something to you-get it in writing. Items were stolen from lost and found. Dogs roam freely, attack you and swim in the pool. The convenience store was great.

Dislike New Management
There has been a noted difference with the new management. They are not friendly like the old management and have a "take it or leave it attitude" when u voice a concern. Rates have gone up ridiculously like with the shuttle service that shot up to $2 ONE way. Are they not aware that other apartments in the area have cheaper shuttle services? And it broke down more than once in a short period and/or the AC not working which is tough in houston. It was the first time that I hear that some work orders are "complimentary" so it might take some time to fix if other emergent things come up. Isn't this is a given that emergent work orders take precedence, yet, we never heard such an excuse before. Also, the communication is not as great as with the old management. We used to find notes outside the door regularly. A lot of times now the water will be out and I open the door to see if there is a warning note and there is none. We are planning to move out.
