Great apartment

I have enjoyed living at Brompton court thus far (about 9 months now). It is very convenient if you go to school or work in the medical center. They have a shuttle that picks you up in front of the office every morning. All you have to do is buy tokens at the office - much cheaper than parking in the med center. I live in a 2bed w/ den with 2 roommates. It has worked out quite nicely for us, especially since the closets, living area, and kitchen are quite spacious. An in-house W/D comes with this floor plan as well which is very convenient. Parking is never a problem and I find it very quiet (probably a perk of an older apartment complex). The staff are very friendly if you have any questions. Plus, the maintenance staff are extremely timely and they do a good job. It's also nice to have all the trees and vegetation around to make it feel like home.

    What is going on here?

    At least 6 glowing, gushing reviews in the last 2 weeks?? Oh come on, people. This is definitely not normal. Common sense tells us that happy customers don't usually go to review sites, so something fishy is definitely going on.

      Great Apartment! Great Location!

      I love my apartment and plan to resign for at least the next few years. In this economy, renting is one of the better options. If you are going to rent, it should be at a place that is beautiful, well maintained, and conveniently located. That is, after all, what you are paying for... Brompton Court's rent rates are on par with the other apartment's in the area, though the appearance and ammeneties at Brompton are much better. I like the mature trees because they look nice and provide shade (which is great for a 3rd floor apartment). My electric bill in this apartment is much better than any other apartment I have lived in. I think we actually have 2 AC units for our apartment. The place is spacious, so the two systems make it run more efficiently. We have two different thermostats so that we can control the living and sleeping areas independently. Though I keep them at the same temperature, it would be convenient to modify them. I am always seeing the maintenence personelle out and about keeping up with the apartment.         I love this place!

        The apartments are beautiful on the inside and out. The acented mouldings and contrasting paint makes this apartment look very upgraded and luxury on the inside. The space is layed out to give the most room and each closet is very spacious. Considering the price of lesser appartments in the area, this community is a steal. Rent rates are relatively low and lots of stuff is included in the community living. I really like the convenience of the on-site convenience store. It makes those last minute items that I need to finish cooking dinner easy to obtain. Also, when entertaining people on the spur of the moment, the store conveniently has wine and beer for sale. Each building has a dedicated pool, though there is no rule against using a different pool. I actually like the pool in the building next to me because it is more shaded during the day, but my roomate likes the one in our building. There is also a heated pool for winter swimming.           Great location for Med Center and Rice Univ employees/students

          This apartment is SO convenient in terms of location. My husband works at Rice Univ and I work in the med center and we both ride our bikes / walk to work. Sometimes I take the apt shuttle that leaves hourly from the apt complex and has multiple stops throughout the med center. Also there's a metro bus stop right outside the apt. The rent is pretty inexpensive which is great for students and others living on a budget. The complex is pet-friendly...another plus!

            Staff and Maintenence Exceed Expectations

            From signing my lease to any need we may have, the staff are helpful and cooperative. Maintenence requests (however small or unorthodox) are attended promptly and with quality. I say unorthodox because my roomate and I wanted to install some add-in features and all we had to do is supply the parts. Upgraded showerheads and digital thermostats were installed very soon after the request was made. The staff really do seem to care about the residents and know most of us by name. Some residents have been in the community for over 25 years. I have lived in apartments where the staff are there only to get new people in the door and do the minimum to get the job done adequately. I really get the feeling that the managers and staff think about the residents as though they were family and want the best living situation for us all. They put in long hours and walk the grounds. They are available for any discussion or suggestion we may have. I am very pleased with my choice to stay at Brompton Court Apartments and enjoy all that it has toā€¦Ā See More>

              Re-writing my review!

              I originally had nice things to say about this community. That was when we had Kit and a professional and understanding management staff. I am VERY unhappy with how far this community has fallen in just the short time that the new management has taken over. First, they roped off parking spaces for no reason other than to elicit residents to purchase reserved parking. The excuses provided may have been bought by a naive or uneducated person, but everyone I spoke to in the complex knew otherwise. The excuse by one person was that they were saving some spaces for reserved areas. This is a tad closer to the truth; except that these spaces were in very odd places and nowhere near an area that one would pay for reserved parking. They took over half of an entire parking garage. When I asked the manager, her body language looked uneasy and I was told that they were working on repaving areas. Funny, the areas were never repaved and the rope was removed after flyers were circulated by unhappy residents. I think what has drawn the line in the sand is that I received noticeā€¦Ā See More>

                Death Trap!

                There are nearly 1000 units (rough estimate) and we only have one exit and one entrance, and they have very old gates on them. As I write this, there are nearly 100 cars waiting to get either out or in to the complex. The leasing office woman (who is the rudest one there) is running around trying to figure it out, but it doesn't look like she has any idea what's going on. If this was the first time, I'd have some sympathy, but this happens a lot, it's just worse today. Sometimes the gate does't close, and people regularly follow other people in, so security is a joke. At least I'm entertained, but they really should take the chains off the other exit, it's not comforting knowing that I CAN'T leave my apt with my car right now even if I wanted to. It might be time to start parking on Brompton Street.

                  Nice place to live

                  My experience here has been good. The maintenance on the complex are constant, so the apartments are always in good shape. The office staff listen to my concerns and do their best to accommodate me.

                      Quiet and safe

                      I have lived at the Brompton court apts since 1997. The office staff are very courteous and take your concerns to heart. The maintenance staff are quick to respond to your specific apartment issues. I can't say enough of the quiet and safety I feel living here. It is a great place to live.

                        Home Sweet Home

                        Yes it sure feels like home sweet home, does not feel like an apartment. Very quiet place, is well kept up clean, garden areas kept looking trimmed and clean. Undercover Parking away from houston hot heat. Now with secure police on grounds. And on a hot day what more could you ask, air conditioning in the laundry room we got it. Wi-Fi at all of the 5 swimming pools, workout area oh and if by the end of your day and back home from work you forgot to get cat/dog food well no problem don't crank your car just walk to our store, very convinient. Yes they do accept cat/dogs as they are part of your family see it does feel like home.

                          Great Trees!

                          One of the best things about Brompton Court are the large old trees which gives the property a more shady, peaceful, and natural look than some of the newer, but more barren looking complexes.

                            This place is wonderful. It is very peaceful.The grounds are well kept and the staff in the leasing office is awesome. Living in a place that is so convenient to everything is a plus and to be in proximity of all shopping malls and resturaunts and being away from the roads is great also.The apartment unit itself is awesome.                               5 years here

                              I've lived at Brompton Court since 05, (having lived here previously for about 3 years in a different unit), on the second floor. There is ample wall space for bookcases. There are tall trees, which in three seasons give something nice to look at out of the window, Maintainance is great and thourough.

                                I would highly recommend this complex!

                                I have lived in Brompton Court for 6 years, in 3 different apartments. I have enjoyed living here and cannot imagine living anywhere else in the area. The management has always been responsive and easy to talk to. They always keep us updated on what is going on around the complex, for example, if the water is going to be turned off they let us know in advance. The prices are the best that you can find for the area and you get a lot of square footage for the price. They are pet-friendly and have recently put in a dog park which has been a good place to let my dog off leash to get some exercise. I have always been impressed at how well the complex is maintained and how neat and clean it looks.

                                  Okay, not great

                                  I've lived at Brompton Court for over 2 years, and I have been more or less satisfied. The location is excellent, with a nice shopping center just up the street, and it's very close to the medical center. You're in a better part of town as well, so I've never felt unsafe. Pretty much the only crime here involves car break-ins (which is pretty much everywhere in Houston), although there is sporadically a case of a robbery or home invasion. My experience with the staff here has been very positive as well. The on-site food store, which finally reopened after Ike, really spoils you when you need to grab something you forgot at the grocery store. The place has its share of problems, though. The apartments are on the older side, and it shows. The maintenance people always respond quickly when there's a problem, though, which is good because the A/C tends to break occasionally. The complex has had some electrical issues, so there have been a few times while I was here (other than when Ike hit) where our building mysteriously lost electricity.                                     Okay, but not great

                                    I have lived here for a little over 5 years now. The place was nice when I first moved in and I really had no complaints. The past couple of years have been an entirely different story. It seems like the water is shut off at least once a month, if not more. There is never any warning, it is just a surprise. I work nights and have frequently woken up to water outages forcing me to go to the gym to take a shower before work. They also claim to have a small pet policy, however I have seen numerous large dogs in the apartment complex. To make things worse, very few people pick up after there animals. Management has placed more bags and trash containers around the area recently to no avail. The management staff is always nice and maintenance is very timely. The corner store is another issue all together. It was nice to have....if you could ever catch it when it was open. It always seemed they were gone and would be back later.                                       Okay place to live

                                      Been living here now for only a few months. So far this place seems very okay to me. Staff is friendly and helpful, it is pretty clean and quiter, and it's probably as safe as you can get (occassional burglaries and car break-ins are everywhere in Houston, this place no exception). Another pro is that there are quite a few shops at walking distance (including Randall's, Barnes and Nobles, Epicurian), and a Target at about a 1 mile distance. Only cons are that the building is kind of old (but well-maintained) and during the night i sometimes hear a horribly loud noise in my bedroom, probably AC from neighbours.

                                        Horrible Apartments!!

                                        This place is a total dump! What ever you do, do not sign a lease here, you will regret it. Let's start with basics; this place is poorly constructed, poorly maintained, and poorly managed. Here is a detailed list of what I hate about this craphole: Let's start with the front gate that is breaks every single week, yes every week. The driveways are filled with a patch-work of potholes. The only grass that is maintained, and still living, is of course in the main entryway. The "covered" parking, leaks like a sieve and frequently collapses, yes I said collapses, and takes months to be repaired. The stairwells, hallways, and common doors are nasty and dilapidated. The laundry facilities are few in number, hard to find, and cost 75 cents per half load. They bought the washing machines with the smallest capacity. As I write this my water is turned off, this is as very frequent occurrence, at least monthly. I especially enjoy getting to take a shower with the AC condensation drain directly over you while you shower.                                           Come here for huge roaches, poor service, and an overpriced apartment!

                                          I have been at Brompton Court for far too long. When I originally moved here, I loved the place. However, that was with the previous management under Archstone. Since its been under the new management by Rockwell, this place has really gone downhill. My rent used to go up $10-20 when I renewed my lease every year. I used to have prompt service when there was a problem, and the grounds and facilities were previously kept up well. Now, the service here is a nightmare. Most of the people who actually work here are nice, but when you have a problem, it is often ignored, and rarely addressed. My air conditioner has gone out at least twice a year for the past 2-3 years during the summer, and the last time it went out I was stuck in a sweltering apartment with >100 degree weather outside for 3 days. My air conditioner has been leaking down into my bathtub and shower for almost a year now. I have called numerous times to request that this be addressed, and each time I get a courteous voice assuring me the problem will be addressed, yet no one has come to fix itā€¦Ā See More>

                                            RUn Run I hate this place

                                            I wrote a previous review in Brompton Court but apparently this place is listed twice with a slightly different address. THis is by far the worst place to live for the amount of money that you have to pay. The a/c broken all the time, they take for ever to fix it. The laundry rooms not a/c they got broken 2 months ago and nobody has come to fix it. The management awful. They don't do proper maintenance to the property. This place has a pest control problem. I've seen roaches everywhere, rats in the hallways at night. Parking is a painful process specially during night. Do you a favor go and look somewhere else to live. For a little more money you can get something better. Is not worthy you will regret to move here. I can't wait for my lease to end. Pets owners careless dog pooh everywhere, dogs inside the pools terrible, I am a pet lover but one thing is to be a pet lover other thing is to believe that pets are humans and treat them as if.                                                 Beautiful place, excellent staff

                                                My wife and I lived here for four years while I was in graduate school and we really enjoyed our time here (we're moving for work). The apartments are spacious and beautiful (we had a nice outdoor yard as well). The staff has always been very courteous and extremely helpful. We especially liked Kit Snyder, the manager, who really goes out of her way to help and make you feel welcome. We made good use out of the nearby exercise facilities and the numerous swimming pools (the nearby bayou has a nice running trail as well). There is a really nice community of dog owners here as well so when you walk your dog you get to meet your neighbors. On the rare occasion when we've needed repairs, maintenance staff has come out at any time of night and promptly repaired the problem. I'm recommending this complex to friends, family and anyone else moving to Houston.

                                                  OK Complex

                                                  We have been living in this complex for 2 years. This is the cheapest place around the Medical Center where I work (2 miles). They even have a shuttle service that can take you to the Medical Center. I had a promotional offer of $675/month (one bedroom apt) 2% medical center employee discount for the first year. Now I am paying $750/month. In the last 2 years my water supply was shut down only 5-6 times for a few hours because the pipes broke but this has happened even to many of my friends who live in expensive complexes. Except for after hurricane IKE when we were without electricity for 6 days, the electricity was shut down briefly 3-4 times in the last 2 years but it was not the complex's fault. I have lived in many apartments and all of them had noise issues. I can occasionally hear my upstairs neighbor walking but there are no other noise issues. My car got broken in to once but it was my fault as I left my GPS inside. This is a problem all over Houston; just remember not to leave anything valuable inside your car!
