Smells like cigarettes in our baby's room some times. The laundry is a rip off. Only good if you want a free shuttle to metro/live closer to the city. Place was mediocre. Not horrible but I'm excited to leave.

A good one I would recommend this building to friends and family.i my husband has been here for over 25 years and is happy here. The maintenance crew is also a good group. Always on time and very professional

This has been my home for 12 years. I have found the residence well maintained, generally quiet, and now pet friendly. The pool and exercise room are particularly welcome amenities. Del Ray is a great location for restaurants, transportation, and shopping of all sorts.

Staff and neighbors are nice, although there's no real sense of community. Rents increase annually, which is inopportune, especially considering the building is an older one. There are very few comparable options nearby, though.

My experience is really amazing. Awsome staff and healthy clean environments . It's also important to mention that this neighborhood is safe and friendly. The management team and front desk and maintenance are very cooperative

The Aspen has great, friendly staff that are always open to talk. Service requests are handled quickly and appropriately. Neighbors in the complex are usually nice and love to socialize, making the lobby a great place to meet people. The library and theater room are clean, though barely used.

Continuous problems with packages, dishwasher flooding, sink leaking, gas leak when first moved in to new unit, electrical problem with main light, lack of communication between management and seasonal staff like lifeguards and front desk people.

I've had a pleasant experience living at The Aspen since I'v moved in nearly 2 years ago. The facilities are always clean, residents are quiet and friendly and disruptions are minimal. Not to mention the amount of space I get for the price I pay - I couldn't find a better price point in the area. The balcony on almost every apartment has a beautiful view. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon!

Have always felt safe and comfortable in this unit. Maintenance requests have always been responded to promptly. Management has always been responsive, polite and accommodating. My hope is to spend a few more years here.

Very pleased with this apartment. The building has good parking, an outstanding large free outdoor pool, and a great gym. Shuttle service to metro. Maintenance is excellent. Quiet and clean. Been here almost twenty years. Would buy in if it went condo. Only negatives I have is the cheap low-volume toilet recently installed, and I wish they would consider the recommendations I've made when managers periodically solicit our suggestions.

In previous management I used to suffer from rude treatment. They didn't care about the well being of the residents, until Van Metre came and provided a first class service to us. They are extremely friendly and most importantly responsive. They don't just sleep on your complaints, they act on them and fix them in timely manners.

The Aspen is a good building in a great area. The building is kept clean, the shuttle to the Metro is a great resource, and the apartments are bright and comfortable. There seems to be high turnover in the building, possibly because the previously very competitive rent has started to catch up with the area. Many unnecessary "amenities" to try to attract higher rents (I have never seen another person in the sauna, "library" and "meeting rooms" are wasted space, gym is subpar) but the pool and laundry rooms on each floor are quite nice. Building is generally quiet, although sometimes there is an issue with noise or with a cigarette smoke smell coming through. There have been a number of recent management changes, but they all have performed similarly. The convenient walking distance to Del Ray is by far the best aspect of this building. Overall, I'd recommend as a good starting place if you're new to the Del Ray area or if you are single or just starting out.

I love living here at the Aspen. I have been living here for 2 years now. I have moved to a different apartment in the same building and still amazing. I recommend this community as it is quite and clean.

The management has changed hands so many times that potential residents should not expect policies to carry over from one management company to the next. I have seen at least 7 apartment managers in 7 years of living in this building.

The old management was very dissappointing, but I've been very impressed with the new management. My husband and I feel safe in the Aspen, and we enjoy how friendly the staff are, especially the maintenance staff.

I moved into my apartment at a difficult transition period in my life. Right from the start, I felt safe and welcome in the community. The environment is quiet and clean. Staff, including maintenance and cleaning, are friendly and always willing to help when needed. The one-bed apartment I have is spacious and made more-so by floor to ceiling windows that lead to a lovely outdoor balcony overlooking the Potomac River. I would recommend The Aspen to anyone who is looking for a quiet, safe environment in a residential area close to the Reagan Airport and Crystal City metro.

Completely unstable and occasionally dishonest management, was a good value until rents were increased and now the building has pests and no control over hot water. This was after they released asbestos into the community.

My experience has been excellent until the new management decided to make the Aspen a "dog friendly" building. If I had known this would happen, I would not have moved into this building. I would only recommend this building to a "dog lover."

So far things have been great. We have great neighbors. We used to have some really great front desk and maintenance people prior to the change over. It was an interesting transition with the new staff. I love that the community is dog friendly now.

I love coming home and being home. It is great to be within walking distance to Del Ray with the great shops, restaurants, and awesome schools. My family very much enjoys the amenities offered us. It is clean and safe. The staff is wonderful, handling any issues with care, knowledge, professionalism, and kindness.

What a nightmare. The ownership of this place is running it into the ground. There has been so much turnover in the office I wouldn’t be surprised if I went downstairs now and saw all new faces. The most recent manager Matt was amazing. He worked hard and was making great progress. Unfortunately, the owners got rid of him despite how great of a job he was doing. They also got rid of half the maintenance staff who were also doing a great job. The owners clearly don’t care about the residents here and have no idea how to run a building. They implemented a new dog policy when everyone said they don’t want dogs. The grounds look horrible and the front access gates are broken or not working on a consistent basis. I can’t wait until my lease is up so I can move out of this place. Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else, this place is a mess and is only getting worse.

Lovely community. Major room for improvement from front staff but totally obtainable. The apartments are beautiful and clean and the view is just gorgeous. The community is friendly and the facilities are kept cleaning.
