Best decision I've made!

I've been in my townhouse for nearly a year now and I'm so happy I chose to live at Abbingotn Hills. The grounds are kept nicely and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I've only reported a few minor maintenance issues but all were addressed and resolved remarkably fast. I've been totally impressed with my experience at Abbington Hills and intend to remain a tenant here for years to come. Keep up the great work; it's greatly appreciated!

I'm about to renew my lease

First off , let me start by saying that I've checked other apartment reviews and this by far is the best in my opinion. This is my first apartment and i love it. I love that you get more for your money, a nice size 2 bedroom with w/d and 1.5 baths? good deal to me. No bug or rodent problems, only thing is a little ceiling damage from the rain. The leasing staff is awesome and Parking is a non issue. My neighbors are great, sometimes I hear loudness from behind me but nothing to complain about. The only thing that bothers me from time to time is the loiters who magically appear late at night in the parking lot. I only saw that a couple of times during the summer but other than that I feel safe here. I had problems with my heat from when I moved in but maintenance always came through to take care of the problem and are very professional. I did my search on other apartments and they just don't fit the bill for me. I plan on staying another year atleast. I hope this review helps those who are apartment hunting at this time. Take care

      An Honest Review

I've been living in the apartment complex a little less than a year now. I have lived in other apt complexes during my life and even rented a house for a long time & I have to say that I love it here. As with anywhere you live, there can be little things, as no place is perfect. Occasionally I can hear my neighbors moving around in their apartment, as is normal in any apartment setting. However, I have found this complex overall to be a very peaceful place to live. There is a beautiful pool area, which hardly anyone ever uses, and the fitness center has tons of great equipment. The staff is very friendly and helpful (which goes a long way in my book) and I have a beautiful apartment home. I would recommend this complex to anyone looking for a nice place to live.

        Just Fine

I live in a two story one bedroom. I am a graduate student at MCV. I was tired of having someone over top of me. I needed a quiet place. A friend told me about this place. I was skeptical, driving in it didnt look the best. But I have been quite happy here. I have been here over a year, just re-up'd my term for another year to get me through school. I don't use the facilities, I am just too busy with school and my job. But I am sure they are ok. I see lots of people with dogs. The dogs are always polite and on a leash. It makes me think of getting one.

I don't know about yall but I like my apartment!

I love my apartment and all it's amenities, like washer and dryer, microwave, and dishwasher. Plenty of parking spaces, wonderful neighbors, and wonderful leasing staff! I've lived here for 2 years and I just renewed my lease for another year.

If you would like an honest review.....

I have lived at Abbington Hills for about a year now and let me say this first, I LOVE living here. It is a nice, quiet area that you really don't have too many problems at all neighborhood/resident wise. My apartment is beautiful and it is huge for such a low price. Not only do I have TWO closets in my bedroom but I also have a washer/dryer (full size) in my bedroom. The leasing staff is always extremely polite whenever I call and they are very helpful. I would definitely stay for awhile, however; I will be honest, there are also a few issues; some of the things that do need a little improvement are: Maintenance tends to be a little slow when answering work orders or you do tend to have the issue after they said it has been fixed. There have been several occasions where I have put in work order and I would have to call in the same issue several times before it was fixed completely. (That is my biggest issue) Parking tends to be inconvenient as there is plenty of Reserved parking but it is extremely hard to find a guest parking spot unless is farrr away from your home. You do tend to hear your neighbors a little bit but I haven't lived in an apartment where you can't hear your neighbors and that really doesn't bother me. Besides those two issues I absolutely love my apartment here and I have lived at my share of apartments! Of all the apartments I have ever lived in this is definitely my favorite. :)

              Dont Do It!!

Carpets were torn, exterior wall got wet like a sponge and was falling apart when I moved in. I noted this on the move-in checklist and sent maintenance requests that were ignored. 2 times there was a plumbing leak (the same place) which caused the sewage from my building to fall through my kitchen ceiling. I called maintenance before the actual ceiling blowouts both times and was ignored until days later when I called again to report the to the liquids on my apartments floor. They fixed the leaks both times, eventually, (temporarily) and left the sewage water on my counters, dishes and floors. They did what they call a "carpet extraction', which consisted of them putting a fan under my carpet and drying out the sewage, while I lived there. My girlfriend and I both got sick. I was sent eviction notices twice from them when they had my rent check in advance. The first time I had to pay the rent a second time because they had the previous check in limbo, from where they lost it and started court proceedings on me. I did this, paid double my rent for 1 month, told it would pass over to the next months rent (I cant afford to pay 2 rents in 1 month ). Somewhere in their clerical process mistakes must have been made, again, I was sent an eviction notice. Needless to say, I was unhappy. I called the office, got the same standoffish attitude, and was told to agin disregard the eviction notice. Upon moving I discovered mold growing in the utility closet of my apartment. I told maintenance and the office staff. They promised me they would investigate the mold and advise me of medical treatment/ referr a doctor, pending results of a mold test. 2 months passed, I got a bill for $1700 delivered to an old address. Upon calling the office to discuss this, I was greeted by an attitude and opposition fron the property manager. I am still waiting for the outcome............

                Noise

Well I finally heard all the noise everyone was talking about. It was last Friday around 8:15-8:30.I heard children laughing loud and people talking loud, at the pool. Well I can hear noise really good when people are at the pool, because our apartment is next to it. Oh yea, I forgot to tell you while I heard all noise. THOSE UNCARING STAFF MEMBERS(that were mention in some of the reviews) WERE HAVING A MOVIE NIGHT FOR THE TENANTS, WITH POPCORN AND SODA THAT WAS SERVED BY THE STAFF. THE KID WERE ALSO HAVING A BALL. OH ONE MORE THING I WAS ALSO THERE LAUGHING AND MEETING MY NEW NEIGHBORS. IT WAS GREAT. I HOPE THIS IS A CONTINUING THING. GREAT JOB STACEY AND ROBYN

                  No Place Like Home

Ok, where do I start. First let me start by giving God the Praise and Glory for blessing us with a beautiful apartment. And No I am not management or a paid tenant, but a God fearing woman who would not lie to give Abbington a bad nor a good name, but only to tell the truth as I see it. Yes I have read the reviews on this site about Abbington, and a lot of them were not good. So my first thoughts were I do not think I want to live there. But I knew we could not continue to live in the place where we were. So we prayed "Now Lord you see and you know we need a descent place to live, one without rats and roaches, one where our rent would not cost us an arm and a leg. So we put in appliations in a number of places, and the first one to call us was Abbington Hill. So we decided to vist the site to see for our self just what it was all about, if the reviews were right or if someone just had it out for them. Well to make a long story short, we did not see any of the things that were talked about in the reviews. So as we started our tour with management (the ones who are there now), it came to my mind some of the things I had read. So I asked her could I see an apartment like the one we would be living in not the model. Her answer to me was "yes sure you can". So two days before we sign our lease I ask could I see the apartment that was offer to us, once again the answer was "yes, take you time and look as long as you like". So Please if you need a nice place that feel like home, try Abbington Hill for yourself. About the kids here yes, there are children and please believe me if you didnot see them, then you would say there is only adults living here. Another thing you can do to see for yourself, drive by on the holidays, late nights and weekends and see for yourself who is hanging out. One more thing there is a pool and yes people go there and have fun, but you can bet by 8:05pm, there is no one at the pool.

Abbington Hills is a great place, regardless of what you may read. I'm currently attending VCU (originially from MD). I've lived here for a year and planning on renewing for another year. Considering how tucked away we are from a public road, this place is pretty quite. But even still they provide an alarm system for free. In the year that I've lived here, the staff has changed numerous times - yes, but still very nice and respond quickly (which is a complete contradiction to what has been written before, obviously these people think their the only ones living here). Yes parking at time can be a pain, especially come weekends or late evenings. But lets be honest. If you decide to live in an apartment is parking always going to be the best? I feel like I couldn't have picked a better place to call "home" for the 2 years that I'll be in VA.

I dont understand all the hate...

I really dont understand all the hate poured out on this site. I mean, really, it's just an apartment. I have lived at Abbington Hills for 2 years. I just found out about this site, and I am really glad I didnt know about before I moved in or else I would have missed out on a great place. I dont pay that much for a one bedroom apartment, and let me tell you the place is great. I doubly hate the parking. But oh well. The place is totally OFF the main road and when you live in the back you definitely feel tucked away. Yes, I too can hear a train, but it's not like they come through all the time - not even daily. Dont believe the hype. Abbington Hills is a nice enough place. I WILL be renewing my lease.

I WOULDN'T WISH THIS PLACE ON MY WORST ENEMY!!!!! DONT MOVE HERE!!!!!!

I stayed here for a little over a year and finally broke my lease due to attempts made to break into my apt and my vehicle being vandalized along with several other people that lived within the complex. Several peolple that lived in complex also had attempts made to break into their apt. all of my neigbors including myself one by one moved out. The apt i was in was riddled with silverfish, spiders, tics and serveral other bugs. A week after i moved in thats when i started noticing the bug problem which never stopped no matter how many times the exterminator came. These apts are a DUMP! I never in my life hated and was so disgusted by any apt that i had lived in. The office staff doesen't care. The staff changes like you change you underwear, there is always someone new in the office. Neigbors were very disrespectful, they would walk their dogs on or neard you patio and not clean up after them. The staff doesn't enforce their rules so people do what they want. I HATED everything about this apt., but the one thing that was unbearable outside of the bugs, was how PAPER THIN the walls are. You can hear everything, such as conversations word for word that your neighbors were having. You could hear water running from your apt as well as your neighbors. I had several neigbors that were in and out and all but one had no respect for other people. THey would blast music all hours of the night on weekdays knowing people had to go to work. I mean 2, 3 4am in the morning on a weekday blasting music. Come on, so that pretty much tells you the type of people that move in this place. Abbington hills will accept any and everybody for a buck. They have sliding closet doors which also were annoying cause you could hear that everytime your neighbor opened and closed them. It was so annoying that i never closed mine, i just left it opened. You could hear washing machine and dryer from your neighbors and if you have people that wash clothes all hours of the night that can also be a pain because they are in your bedroom. And, the way the bedrooms are setup is your bedroom and your neighbors bedrooms are next to one another (just to give you a visual and an idea of how that would sound 2am in the morning). I was so excited when i made the decision to break my lease. because i had a great case, i did not have to pay 2 or 3 months rent to move out. I WARN YOU, DO NOT EVER MOVE INTO THIS PLACE IT WAS DREADFUL, I NEVER LOOKED FORWARD TO BEING HOME, IT NEVER FELT LIKE HOME. IT FELT MORE LIKE A CHEAP MOTEL THAT WAS WAY TOO OVERPRICED. MOVE IN AT YOUR OWN RISK. FORA SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE THIS PLACE MAY BE A STEP UP, BUT IF YOU ARE ANYTHING LIKE ME IT WAS DEFINITELY A STEP DOWN. I learned never to rush into moving into anyplace without doing the research. When i moved into my next apt, i made sure i checked the reviews first.

HORRIBLE DONT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU READ THIS

Review Date: 4/6/2010 Rented: 2010 To 2010 Moving in to my apartment set the tone for my experience..I was unable to view my apartment until the day I moved. reason being the unit was occupied until 6 days prior too, ( which i later found out from corporate after filing a complaint) My refrigerator was disgusting it was wet with some of the previous tenants onion skin still in the drawer. My freezer door was stuck shut... once opened it smelled of mold. The following morning I discovered Silver fish, moths, and tiny spiders. Spider webs that were in the ceiling that I could not reach. My electric heater never warmed my apartment but my bill was avg 130.00. One of my neighbors had a howling dog, which i reported 6 times before anything was done. The walls were so thin I could literally hear and indicate the video games and music played by my rear neighbors. The rent office ignored any complaints and the usual suggestion was to call the police or that they would TRY to call the neighbor, which never happened. i recorded the dog howling and played it for a leasing consultant when i gave my thirty day notice of leaving after 2 months in residence. At that time they asked for the neighbor to get rid of the dog. The parking was horrible. I was charged an extra 20.00 in rent ( which i was unaware of until lease signing) all because they claimed that I would be able to view my car from my apartment. there were only 4 visitor spaced for the section that i lived that were almost always taken by a residence. the rest of the visitors parking was in the front of the complex or my the laundry room, about 4 spaces, again always occupied. back to the apartment. the drip pans in my stove were soiled as well as the oven. There is no club house because regardless of if your are hosting an even the entire building is accessible to all residence because of the "work out area". This place is terrible. 2 months rent to leave was well worth more than each month rent to stay. Goodluck on your search for an apartment!!!

My big sister referred me to this community when I was attending VCU. It seemed the perfect location, not too far from VCU, but not too close either. I lived in a studio aparrment and really did like it. It was much larger than other studios and way better than the dorms. I got my first cat when I was living there and the manager was really great in helping me keep him - she even helped me find a vet. My apartment was in the back and I hated walking from the parking lot. Usually I had to park up the hill (if you visit you'll know what I mean). But other than that it was ok. Mainteannce was always helpful and kind. I eventually moved to the west end to be closer to work, but I often think of my peaceful little home on the southside - I miss it. Now married w/Kids :-)

Renter Beware....You are in for a SCARE!

I have lived here for two years, it was the worst experience I ever had! I didn't renew my lease for several reasons: 1. Place falling apart--my apartment leaked (several do) and had a bug problem...called maintenance many times, got the run around nothing helped! 2. Parking...is a joke on a Friday night - Sunday night, its unreal, very unsafe if you are a female! 3. Appliances suck, and the whole apartment sucks up electricity avg. power bill ~125bucks a month! And I am cheap, I conserved everything! 4. Many people around me got broken into, I was lucky not to have been. 5. Leasing office is always changing no one wants to keep a job there, good luck with getting them to help you!!! They are nice until you sign the lease then its OVER! 6. Emergency maintenance is non-existent! 7. Price goes up EVERY YEAR, 620 to 700 to 750 if I wanted to re-new...are you kidding me?? 8. The apartment is so drafty its stupid to keep it heated the windows and outlets let in so much cold air its pointless...my unit broke 3 times, just barely fixed it, then broke again, I gave up and got space heaters.. 9. Loud ------ music and thugs in the parking lot at nights.. 10. Couldn't even use the pool it was taken over by the surrounding communities kids, it was horrible! I urge you to look else where, this place is not worth the headache, they get you coming and going, and they are no where when you need help, that is why I am moving to a company that cares about there tenants, unlike Weinstein Properties...good luck if you decide to live here, the good posts here probably come from the leasing office!! I hope you find something else, for the money they get you in on this great special then the rent will sky rocket the next year! Look elsewhere!!!

Excellent Apartment! LONG Review, but please read if you're considering Abbington Hills

In July of 2006, I came to town in search of a one-bedroom apartment at an acceptable price with an easy commute to my job in downtown Richmond. I was unfamiliar with the area and received broad warnings about crime on "the Southside", but after visiting this apartment complex (then known as South Slope), I was impressed with the size, price, and location, not to mention the favorable layout and landscaping at the property. I signed a lease the same day and subsiquently, ALL MY EXPECTIONS WERE MET OR EXCEEDED FOR TWO YEARS, (until July 2008 when I left Richmond to attend law school in another city). If I were still living in Richmond, VA, this would ABSOLUTELY still be my residence. I had previously only lived in one apartment complex, which was family owned, and in moving to Richmond, I almost expected to be taken advantage of by a "big" property management company. Much to my surprise, the property managers always treated tenants fairly when there was a problem (although there does seem to be an unusually high turn-over among employees in the rental office; I think Weinstein moves them around a lot.) On one occasion, my neighbor and I became slightly ill one day (nothing serious) and suggested that there might be a mold problem with the drainage trays that were part of the air conditioning systems - Weinstein immediately solved this potential problem by replacing key components that MIGHT have been subject to mold. On another occasion, just last month (july '08) as I was moving out, it turned out that I had not signed the proper paperwork to provide notice of vacancy - Weinstein recognized that the property manager should have informed me, and they didn't hold me responsible for any rent after my move out date mid-month, even though they could have attempted to hold me responsible for an additional $1,700 (READ: This level of respect for tenants is RARE in ANY part of the country). As for the crime, I did see quite a few sketchy characters wandering through the complex (primarily from the cheaper housing across the street), but I only had one frightening encounter with a "gentleman" attempting to steal a car one evening. ( Just FYI, I'm a 23 year old caucasion male, and I imagine girls might feel more uncomfortable if living by themselves in the area, but I did have female friends who did this, with no problems). I did come home to find my neighbors' doors kicked on two occasions, but that was back in 2006, and I can say emphatically that THIS COMMUNITY IS IMPROVING RAPIDLY, desipite other reviews to the contrary. Truth be known, if long-time residents are leaving, it's only because they've raised the rent this year, but I will reiterate that regardless of this price increase, I would certainly continue to live here if in Richmond. Maintenance problems were few and were fixed the same-day they were reported - always. There were no bug problems or any other typical negatives associated apartment living. I had a washer and drying in my apartment, and all other conveiences one might expect in a NICE apartment. I will note that Comcast service was less than reliable at the location, but that was just my experience, and there are alternatives to Comcast. I feel a great deal of gratitude to Weinstein for providing me with fair and favorable living conditions for two full years, and I hope this review fully represents my positive memories of Abbington Hills/South Slope Apartments. My only regret is that Weinstein operates no properties in my new location. If you value your money and would like to live in a nice apartment, choose Abbington Hills.

I guess I got my wake up call when I came out of my apartment thinking my car was stolen only to find out that the car was towed because my parking sticker fell off of my rear view mirror. Not a good experience.

I moved to Abbington Hills while I completed my internship at a local hospital from January-April in the Richmond area. I made the dumbest mistake to say the least. According to Abbington Hills, after a tenant moves out,the apartment is thoroughly inspected and cleaned before a tenant moves in. In my case, that obviously didn't happen. The night I moved into my apartment, I came to a filthy and I do mean filthy house. There was perishable food still left on the kitchen counter, the oven looked as though someone had vomited in it,cat crap on the floor, windows had cobwebs, bathroom sink, tub, and toilet were all dirty. The entire carpet in the living room was covered with dirt and stains. I took pictures and the next day,I addressed to the leasing office my complaint asking them to properly clean the apartment. Nobody did anything for a week after I kept calling to have something done,so I finally contacted the property manager and wrote a formal letter with the pictures I had taken asking them to do something about the mess. I had already cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen because it was unbearable.I just wanted them to professionally steam clean my living room because it should have already been done before I moved in. A piece of advice for everyone interested in this fine dump, make sure when you take a tour of the actual apartment itself and not the demo room. Two very distinct differences. Also, if you do decide to move here because rent is pretty cheap and all, make sure you sign up with Dominion right away so you aren't being billed from Dominion on Abbington Hills account and not yours. I moved in January and I wasn't told until March I had to sign up with the power company. In the meantime, I was just paying Abbington Hills for my electric, because I thought that was the place my electric bill was supposed to be payed. Well, I was billed from Dominion $75 dollars for a 2 week period from Abbington Hills! No way on God's green earth can someone use that much electricity! It was just me! No one else! I shut the heat off during the day and had it set to 60 every night! Never got my $ back for that either! Now I'm fighting for a months rent because, they had charged me for the month of May and of course I paid it because I didn't want to hurt my credit score. The day before I moved out,I had accidentally locked the keys in my house. I thought that if I get back by 5:30pm that I could just get the extra key from the leasing office. That's how they deal with lock outs during normal business hours. Well, I returned at 6:30 and of course the leasing office was closed. So I called the office and was given a number for the maintenance number. I gave them a call explaining that I was locked out and needed someone to stop over with the extra key. According to the maintenance lockouts are not an emergency even at night when you are alone. I was told 3 different things: First,I'd be charged $40. Not too bad, pretty reasonable, but then they changed it to $80 because apparently the policy had just changed recently and they forgot (how convenient). Then I call them again to make sure it's $80 and thats when the guy told me that I would have to contact a locksmith, since they do not deal with lockouts. So there's some actual situations that has made me despise this apartment community and all others like it. I definetly will NEVER move here again, nor would I recommend this to anyone.

                                      DO NOT LIVE HERE !!!

The townhomes are newly renovated and have great space. However, I have lived here over 5 years and seen this complex (and neighborhood) in decline. Name changed recently to Abbington Hills but as long as they rent to anyone without doing background checks, the place is going to be unsafe. There are shady groups and individuals wandering the property at all hours, and driving through the property at all hours with their music blasting. A lot of these individuals are not residents BUT over the past year or so, the residents are becoming more and more shady. Drug dealings go on in the parking lot any time day or night. Richmondcrime.org shows constant crime in our complex. Management gives us notices frequently informing us of crimes in our complex including kicking in doors even with tenants home, break-ins, armed robberies, destruction of property, car thefts, etc. Also there are stolen cars dumped in the parking lots. The complex is supposed to have a 24 hour no noise policy but the no noise policy means nothing if it isn't enforced strongly. All of the long-time tenants are disgusted and moving out just as fast as we can. NONE of us feel safe ... even the male long time tenants. And my friends are afraid to visit here ... even during the daytime now. Unless you want to live with shady individuals and noise and disrespectful neighbors, do yourself a favor and do not move here.

The price is great, the space is even better, the apartments seem to be great, but safety is a difinite issue. We got broken into and when I looked at Richmond Crimes online I noticed that in the 8 months that we have lived here at least 17 crimes reported to the police including ours. Those 17 include Break Ins and Destruction of Property, and Burglury. Our doors are not safe. We are moving out as quickly as possible. The staff is very polite and the apartments are not bad but I do not feel safe. I was scared everytime I walked to the door after work. Most nights I had my boyfriend meet me at my car. I asked for our light to be fixed and it took then 5 months! When I got broken into my dad had to fix the doors, the mainence didnt have tools!!! Its not safe to live here. A cop told me the doors are paper thin.

                                          Shady and tons of Spiders!

South Slope was rather shady and too close to surrounding neighborhoods that were even shadier. The cops were there at least 4 times in the whole six months I stayed there, one of which was a rather scary incident. I found out later on Richmond Crime's website that someone was stabbed! There were LOTS of spiders and I hated that. The carpet was bad looking but the places were pretty big. Would not recommend to anyone living their by themselves because it is not well lit, especially the places towards the woods. Neighbors were also shady and one time at 1:00am, someone was banging on the front door! Scary but they were probably drunk because they stopped after a while. There was also a huge problem with loud music. We had neighbors who liked to play their loud rap stuff on Sunday and Saturday mornings around 8:00 am and usually on week day nights. Not fun if you have a job or want to sleep in!

                                            my opinion

I have lived at SS for almost a year ( will be a year next month) and I liked it alot in the beginning...until my apartment as well as many others got broken into. Check the richmond city crime report in the cedarhurst neighbourhood if you want to see for yourself. The aparments are nice, and the price is not bad.. but the crime is too high at least for my liking. I have a renovated apartment and makes it worth it with the washer and dryer and microwave in the apartments. The walls are thin, so expect to hear alot from those behind you. The pool was not cleaned or drained at all from the time it closed for the fall and winter until a week or so before it opened again memorial day weekend...and even prior to opening I never saw it being drained. Personally I find that rather disgusting. The maintenence people overall are nice, from my experience the females more so than the males. Office staff changes ALL the time, and some have been very nice and helpful, others the exact opposite. They don't always seem to know what is going on as a result. If unable to afford something more expensive, SS is not a bad place, searching for apartments and houses I have definatly seen FAR worse.. and I have also seen far better for a little more money. One thing I will give SS praise for is that they are relatively pet friendly, allowing large dogs although restictions, something too many places do not.

                                              bad community to live in

I have been a residence of Southslope now for 8years. I love it up until last year when the community atmosphere because of the section 8 apartments across the street. Crime has risen in the neighborhood with arm robbery to quite a few apartment break ins. I had notice especially during the summer months, quite a few young guys in small groups be canvassing in the parking lot area. They are not, Im sure residents of the Southslope community. They be hanging out late at night. I know someone was robbed in the parking lot last year. I will be making this year my last year. I dont feel safe and the neighborhood is not as quiet as it use to be

I've lived in two different apartments at South Slope, and generally it hasn't been too bad. The apartments are a decent price, and fairly spacious.

However, we had a difficult experience when trying to move from a 1 BR to a 2 BR apartment. Weinstein actually evicted us from the old one considerably earlier than they'd promised, and with only a few days notice. Considering we were going to give them MORE of our money to trade up a level, I felt this was a poor show.

Some people say they feel unsafe walking around SS - I'm fine with it personally, but I guess it depends where you come from. The police have only been called out a couple of times that I remember.

Laundry facilities are pretty awful, but maintenance are usually pretty good (be nice to them, they do their best!). The walls are fairly thin so you'll probably hear a lot from your neighbours (and vice versa).

Parking is OK. The complex itself and the houses are not terribly attractive, but Forest Hill isn't too bad and there's a Food Lion within walking distance.

I'm hoping to move out soon and into a one-floor apartment - no stairs! - but if you're looking for a cheap, basic place to live, South Slope isn't a bad choice.
