Not bad...
I've lived here for a year, and although I stayed with someone else in downtown Richmond most of the time - every time I came back to check on my things it was a nice experience.

Only two things bugged me. One was paying an average water for the whole building… even though it was always around 20$ a month.. I’m not there, so I don’t USE the water. Otherwise the utilities are fair.

Second thing was the location. It’s off of forest hill, so it’s close to new development, but the apartments across the street are really sketchy and run down. I’m scared to walk out during the evening… and even in daylight!

I’m moving to west end where things are a little safer, but if you’re looking for an ok place, I believe this is one to check out.
Fantastic property! Managment Company is top notch. They strive to be customer friendly and maintenance is comleted mostly on the same day as requested.

Overall very pleased!
Pool is great, grounds are very well kept, plenty of open space. Studio apartments are really nice, clean, never had any problems.

Location is good. Parking a real problem on Sunday nights.

Perfect for college students. A lot of young tenants. Not too noisy.

Loved these apartments!

A NIGHTMARE! Shady Management & Bad Maintenance
After being an excellent tenant for years at South Slope, the management TRIED TO SCREW ME OUT OF MY SECURITY DEPOSIT. If you live here, take pictures of your unit when you move in and move out -- and be sure to document all your interactions with the staff. You may need to contact a lawyer, as I did!

Other Gripes:

1. LAUNDRY FACILITIES ARE INEFFICIENT. Dryers never work. You’re better off going to a local laundrymat.

2. EXPECT HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS IF IT SNOWS. The roads were almost never shoveled. Common walkways were NEVER SHOVELED. Even after other residents and I complained to the leasing agents and their supervisors at WMCi Properties, nothing was done.

3. HIGH TURN-OVER OF LEASING AGENTS. The leasing agents typically leave within 6-12 months. If one of them is handling a maintenance request for you and leaves South Slope, your request is lost!

4. WMCi MANAGEMENT IS SHADY. Even after I conducted a walk-through and was told that my apartment was in "excellent" condition when I moved out, WMCi Management tried to keep my security deposit. I had to contact the BBB and a lawyer to get my money back.

5. MAINTENANCE IS POOR. Expect to call at least 3-5 times before anyone ever responds to your maintenance request. It takes days to weeks to complete an "emergency" maintenance request such as fixing air conditioning in the summer. After a foundation leak damaged the carpeting on the first floor of my apartment, they replaced the padding and REINSTALLED THE SAME MOLDY CARPET THAT WAS DAMAGED BY THE WATER! It took nearly 2 months to get all the repairs done related to this foundation leak.

Some positives:

1. 1BR APARTMENT LAYOUT IS NICE. Spacious w/plenty of closet space. Alarms are a plus.

2. REASONABLE RENT. Rent is good for the location and size of the 1 BR townhouse apartment. However, it was NO BARGAIN when taking into account the terrible management, poor maintenance, and awful customer service.
