ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES Everywhere. First day moving in and had to kill more then 30 roaches throughout the entire apartment. I'm so disappointed in this place. It ruined my excitement of moving into a new place. I didn't even stay in the apartment my first night because I sprayed so much bug spray, I had to let it air out.

Never lived in an apartment that I would feel like I'm in prison! The noise upstairs is like an elephant walking!! Banging doors and everything!! I am actually hearing this as I am writing. The neighbors have no respect of others at all. Have contacted the management but nothing has been changed since the two months we have been here. Never paid water bill this high in my life! Appliances are horrible, horrible, horrible. The apartment was dirty when we moved in. One of the toilets was full of unknown liquid and would not flush down. True that I jumped into space when looking but forgot that it comes with so much high price! I would rather rent a small unit but live in peace. Looking for an apartment? Think twice before signing the lease here. It is not cheap either. You can pay the same amount in a nicer neighborhood.

I moved in a month ago. the apartment was in excellent condition. fresh paint job and new carpeting. I found the staff to be quite friendly and the maintenance crew to be more than satisfactory as far as fulfilling my work order request in a timely manner.

Well, how can I start. Terrible!!!! Lets start with the floors........when you walk, ever step is heard. I have a toodler and I know people under me hear him. The floor is rotten. People above us wash clothes starting at 6 a.m and wash all day. You can hear everything that goes on in others apartment. The lady above has so much traffic in and out her place its crazy. You have dog walkers that dont pick up the ----. Parking......people that live here has ever car they own infront or near the building. The office is unprofessionsl. You get the run around. When you complain about things nothing happens until you say something about leaving or coming over there. There is only 1 reliable maintenance worker. I would NEVER tell anyone of this damn place. You think you are going to pay for your water at a low price. No, when you pay for water, you are paying for the square footage not the water used. This place is a headache. So dont move here because: 1. Terrible build apartment 2. Noise 3. Can hear everything (washing, dishwasher, washer, walking, etc) 4. No good parking after 4 p.m. 6. Unprofessional lease office 5. Headache that you dont need 6. Dog ---- on the grass THE ONLY THING NICE ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THE SIZE PERIOD!!!!!!

I moved from out of state..when I got to -------- the Manager ---- and the mantienance man were the ones who did the walk through. The apartment was in HORRIBLE condtiion. The walls had holes in them that were not patched properly, the cabinets had to be replaced, counters had to be replaced, screen door. I had no help from ---- whatsoever. I had one person who helped me the whole time, and that was -----. I would not reccoment anyone to move to this community. Everyone at Stoney Ridge from the office staff to maintence staff. They are a good group of people and Equity Residential should be proud of the staff here. This delightful and careing staff makes living here a pleasure. When I moved in the apartment was clean and smelled frash. You could tell that everyone cares at the office that new and current residents live in a well managed property. Thank you for a great experience.

I haven't been living here very long but so far it's been fine. The rent is affordable. I had to move quickly for my job and they were the only complex that even returned my email. Everyone has been helpful so far. No complaints.

Don't bother! It is dirty, the apartments are scummy, the people are getting scarier by the month and i have only lived there about one year. The new policies about smoking in stairwells is not enforced and if you want to get a car out of your monthly fee paid spot, you have to call the towing company yourself!

hidden fees, bad management, no parking
this is my first apartment and i havent even been here a year and im looking elsewhere. first off the management consists of 3 people, all who are not helpful. their new regional manager andrew is also clueless to what is going on. ive written emails and letters and made calls to their regional office with no contact back to me. the walls and floors are super thin, i live on the 3rd floor and my apartment shakes like crazy when the people downstairs walk around ! i constantly hear kids cryin and things gettin thrown around, which ive called the police on about 4 times already. the parking is limited and spaces are narrow. when they tell you you pay for ALL utilities believe it ! and it is a ridiculous amount for sewage and trash ! they try to charge u hidden fees for things like removing a satellite..which all of a sudden is not allowed on the balconies. the best thing here is probably the maintenance staff, mostly don. hes about the only one who knows what hes doing. i havent seen any roaches or abnormal bugs thank god. but overall i dont like the place so im looking to move and i wouldnt recommend it to anybody else.

Pretty good actually
I lived here for 7 years, moved out then moved back in about 2 years ago. Had one mouse in all that time but no roaches. The neighbors can be a real mixed bag. I had one across the hall who threw a party every night (he got evicted in 2 months flat!), another upstairs who seemed like they were sumo wrestling but for the most part the neighbors are quiet and keep to themselves. No dangerous, shady characters or anything like that. There are a lot of military that live here. Management came through a few years ago and replaced every window and door in every building so I think they care about their property. The people working in the leasing office are pretty helpful and work with you. Maintenance is just fine (Don is the man!). The lawns and trees are always maintained. My only complaint about the complex is that they have these stupid pine trees that lean over the parking lots and drip sap on the cars. Watch where you park because you cannot get that sap off your paint job! Lastly, this is more a police/neighborhood problem but, in the years I've lived here, we've had our vehicles broken into 4 times.

No insulation, freezing in winter, ridiculous electric bill
The end of my lease is coming up, and the combination of the freezing winter in which my electric bill quadrupled in size, a mouse problem, and the massive rent increase (from $860 to over $1000) is causing me to look elsewhere. The management are very nice people, the grounds are kept looking clean, and there's plenty of parking, but the building itself is shoddy and badly built. Walls are crooked and warped, I can see every single nail behind the paint holding the walls together, there are strange hard lumps under the carpet, and the electric appliances drive up the bill like crazy. The location is great because it's one of only two apartments complexes in that end of town, but it's not worth it to stay. I'm moving on.

roachs, thin walls, crazy electric bills
I kept my apartment clean but had problems with roaches. I even saw them crawling up the walls of my bedroom. Horrible! The walls were thin to where I could hear my neighbors "gettin' busy". I know, gross! The carpet was old and musty. My electric bill was outrageous. Please explain to me how a 1 bedroom apartment has an electric bill of $400? My sister who has a 3 level 3 bedroom townhouse didn't even pay that much in the same month. I tried to get it resolved but no one in the office could help me. I lived there about 2.5 years ago so I hope things have gotten better. If not, stay away if you can!

I'm laughing out loud...
I've read all the current (yet old) reviews posted here on Stoney Ridge and I'm laughing. I moved here with my Newborn baby the summer of 2008 and I haven't had any problems with the place yet. These apartments ARE definitely old, so the floors and walls are thin and you will hear the boards creaking. Unless your neighbor blasts the tv or radio, you aren't really bothered by the noise from the apartments around you. I moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom last summmer in 2009, and it's one of the biggest 2 bed 2 bath apts. I've seen. Again, this place is old, but it is clean and I've only had one real issue with maintenance. That was when they pulled up my carpet due to a pipe leak and I guess forgot that they left a commercial blower fan and a cut in my carpet. Once I called, they were right on it however. As for the management staff, they have ALWAYS been courteous and friendly. In fact, my daughter and I live in the same building as the office and she loves to go bang on the office door and wave hello. I have never had a problem with any one of their management or maintenance staff being rude or not helpful to me. One of the reasons why I moved to Stoney Ridge was proximity to work and family, size of the apartments, and the way they kept the grounds. I've lived in the area for 7 years and have always admired how pretty the landscaping was. As for parking, there is generally plenty of it. Overall, I'd give this place a B. It's nothing extravagant, but it is clean, affordable, and safe. I've yet to feel threatened as the place is lit up outside by lighting everywhere.

The apartments are spacious, some trouble getting response from management/maintenance with requests/ problem. Lease terms aren't very flexible. Quiet for the most part. Pretty average.

STAY AWAY!
I couldn t agree more with average at best posting. Everything here and in other posts is true. We didn t have car broken in, but we know about those incidents. Parking spots are tiny, half of them cannot be used when a big truck parks in one. We suggested they repaint the lines to make them bigger - do it as part of the renovation process. None done! THey couldn't care less. Took us a year to get a new refrigerator, - it was making an ice pack in the refrigerator section (not the freezer) and the food next to it would go bad from ice burn ; then once in a while it would melt into a lake in front of the refrigerator. The maintenance guys would only say too much food in the refrigerator . Do you all eat out? The roof had a leak, the ceiling got stains, they just painted it over; the stains are coming back- I circled them with pencil to keep track of the size. The ceilings got cracks -- it feels like it will fall on you any time. The bathroom is terrible. No natural light throughout, too dark. All the power outlets around the house were lose they said just spread out the plugs to make them go in tighter . The dishwasher is old and breaks every glass and cup that goes in it. The huge mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom were hanging on tiny plastic hooks - hazard! They sent one (ONE!) guy to do the job, - he would have never be able to hold the mirror and put new hooks in. Thanks to my husband being home - he had to help the guy. I can hear my neighbor above from 6 am till midnight - every single step she and her son makes! The workers doing renovation were the worst ever staring at you and laughing, leave the apartment in a mess, broke stuff around, leave the trash bottles behind and the management just says well, you have to report to us and we will take actions - well, I reported, never saw an action. Next thing the constructors did -- left the window wide open in the house for entire day on December 7 - check the temperature records -- it was the coldest day so far this winter, actually snowed a bit at 9pm. The heater was cranking like crazy when I got home. No one ever appologized or did anything to make us feel better. Safety was the last thing on their mind. And just now - after they are done with renovations 2 months later than planned, and after we signed lease extension (had to months-to-month rate was $200 more than lease rate) ... they are telling us to clear out everything from the balcony, or face lease violation. Well, they never bothered to enforce it for over 14 months that we were here. Now they are giving us TWO days to get it done. Why now? Because of the attempt to make the outside look pretty at our expense. After all the time we lived in an apartment cramped during construction (everything had to be moved away from the walls 4 feet - for 6 months!), after they cut down the size of the balconies 20 inch deep; now they want me to buy extra storage space to store my stuff? Well, they would have to tell everyone to remove everything - including the patio furniture, cause that s what the rule says on paper. But no, I asked 5 neighbors - only 3 others got the notice to remove things, but all 5 have stuff. And our of those who got the notice - got 30 days to deal with it. So its selective, which is against the law. Well, they will hear from us. DO NOT MOVE HERE!

Couldn't get any worse!
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. First I had mice running around in my apt., they said there wasn't anything they could do but leave sticky traps. Dishwasher never worked, and was told there was nothing wrong with it. I heard everything going on in my neighbors apt. above, even from across the hall when music was playing from poor insulation. Not to mention the young kids that were hanging out in the summertime making noise every night. Heard everything through my cheap windows. Neighbors aren't considerate with picking up their dog poop either. I dont know how many times I came out my back window and stepped a piece of poop. My car was broken into when not parked near my building, people watch because the stuff they didn't want they returned on top of my mailbox. Creepy, hunh? Watch out in this apt. complex. I wouldn't have stayed as long as I did but I was trying to buy a house so I wouldn't ever have this experience again.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
Staff is nasty or just do not know...
One is nasty to you when you go in to put in a work request and the other one when you call with a complaint it seems she can't ever help you. When I go in with a concern she can never answer me or give me the information I am looking for, its like she has to research every little thing like a short bus rider that can not even remember her own name. Maintenance staff has used a key and entered my apartment without knocking while me and my child were home. Workers renovating complex has made us feel very uncomfortable when we leave and enter our building, by constantly staring at us. It's even more uncomfortable knowing they have a key to your apartment.

average at best
I've lived here about 4 years, but only because I am too lazy to move. First they put the cheapest carpet on the face of the earth in these units, not good when you have young kids. My car was broken into twice, and last time I came home from vacation there was a bullet hole in my neighbors front door. The walls and ceilings are paper thin and the floors squeak very loudly. I have had a few minor maintenance issues, but nothing large. They are doing a lot of renovations, siding, windows, roofing, etc... but it is average at best. The office staff seems nice, but overall I would not recommend this place

Family says Ok but cautious
Moved in 6/30/6 and out 9/15/6 as part of a professional relocation. Company found the place for me unseen. Most people kept to themselves but were generally nice. Its in an unsettling neighbor hood and my wife and 5 yr old were uncomfortable. No real trouble, mostly just the steroetypical rude teens.
The apt was fair, creaky floors, crooked cabinets and counter top stains. Baths needed help too. Got a brand new AC system in all units as we left. Maintenance guy was cool (Russel, thanks). The management staff couldn't possibly have done any less than they did for us. One actually tried to sell me on something else.
For the money, it was a fair deal considering the alternatives. A fair place to stay for a little while

Slow Management
I've had nothing but bad experiences with the management and matienence staff here. I have been waiting for over a month to get my matienence issues addressed. When you go into the office you get the run around treatment and you can't even get a straight answer. I am fed up with this apartment complex. And the lack of a management staff and property manager that knows whats going on. I've been lied to, and I am VERY displeased. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone.

It's OK
I have lived here for almost a year and I am satisfied with what I am paying for. My only issue is the noise from other apartments. You honestly can't beat it for the price. There ia plenty or parking and I have had no problems getting them to come and fix things.

major improvements
I have lived in this community for several years and I have seen the ups and downs and have to tell you recently I have seen major improvements with the feedback I get back from the management whenever I have a problem and have noticed the effort in cleaning up the property, great area and great place to live as long I continue receiving great service consistently. Right now I would have to say I would reccommend this property as long as things continue to go the way they are.
