Not worth the money
The moment we walked in the front door, there were multiple things wrong that required several work orders. We have only lived here a week and there are already another batch of work orders I need to place. This place is not worth what they charge. It is a huge rip off.

Loved it, moving back in soon...
I lived at San Montego for a 6 month lease and had to move out due to money constraints, but will be moving back in shortly. I loved it there, all of the women in the office were extremely helpful, and not a man in sight. The apartment was clean when moving in, a great deal when moved in, and just ease of moving in. Would recommend this complex to anyone. It is perfect location, a brewery and a couple sports bars across the street, movie theater in walking distance and access to the freeway 2 different ways.

Just stay away....
I lived there from 2005 to 2007, and it was OK. The property changed management from Mark Taylor (excellent rating) to Lincoln Properties (barely adequate) so my experience living there went from great to just ok. Several reasons why I left: the grounds were not being kept up, more weird people were moving in, the management was indifferent to my apartment being broken in to (no notice was sent around afterward warning everyone to take precaution), and the noise level was becoming out of control. I felt NO sense of safety after my break-in and gave my 30 days notice to leave. If you like to feel safe, have nice surroundings, and good neighbors then DO NOT live at San Montego!!!

My Honest opinon
I have lived at San Montego since last year. I think the staff is great. They all go above and beyond to help you. They are real people and seem to care. I like my apartment, grounds and overall area. This is a very clean place and I like that they do not allow dogs......you can walk thru the grass!! I like the lakes, cookies and the office girls are not too hard on the eyes! If a friend or family member needed a place to live I would tell them about this place. I will renew my lease.

sexist management&full of violence
During my 1 year stay at san montego I have never been more afraid in my life. The man that lived in the apartment near me was so noise sensitve that I was afraid to walk from the bedroom to the kitchen at night. He would pound violently on the ceiling, yelled at me while banging his fists on his car, and kicked my cat all throughout the span of a year. The management always took his side and took my claims of violence as "nonsense" I finally had to call the cops on my own and the guy was out overnight. If you are as women the management will do nothing for you because they are all sexist men.

Not what it seems!
This apartment complex may seem nice at first, but do not let first impressions get you! I had issues with parking, refund return and maintanince requests! There are always parking issues in this lot as they assign one slot per apartment and the rest of the parking is first come, first serve, have your guests over by 5pm to get a spot or park elsewhere! Also, not only was parking constently an issue but when I moved out the complex refused to do a move out inspection with me there which resulted in over $1200 worth of 'carpet replacement' costs! I filed a complaint with the BBB, however the company failed to respond. Lastly, I had a smoke detector broken/damaged for over 6 months which no one responded to the maintence call, the management had 'no idea' what I was talking about when I called for updates on the status.

not bad
I have lived here for a year and am moving only because I got a new job which is far from here. I have not had any problems. The community is fairly quiet, and I have been happy here.

Stay Away!!!
Stay away from this place. The gates smashed into my car and the management company refuses to do anything about it. In facts, they don't even want to fix the gate! I have been very fair, but they ignore my calls.

The apartment is not so luxery. In fact, it's just a regular apartment but very overpriced.

The leasing agents and management are not helpful, knowlegeable, nor nice.

Loved it!
I loved this place, the only reason I moved is that I took a new job out of the area.

There are not many places that you go where you walk into the office and the people not only know your name, but your apartment number. OUTSTANDING!!

Also parking for the size of the apartments is better than most.

Good
Very nice and quiet community. Everything was clean when we moved in and appliances were all new.

Good entertainment venues across the street; several restaurants, bars, and a movie theater.

A good community for families and married couples, not good for college students who want to meet people and have fun.

I'm not sure where to start with this. The staff seems nice, but not at all competent, and that includes those in the Mark Taylor office in Scottsdale.

When I moved into my apartment, it had new carpeting, but the entire apartment was not repainted. Only certain areas/rooms were. The title floors were very dirty, it didn't appear to have been swept or mopped. Also, there were some major maintenance issues that should have been caught and addressed before I moved in, such as the leaking faucet (the water backed up into the faucet and leaked into the cabinet below-you could hear the water hitting the bottom of the cabinet). In addition, the stove was not cleaned. The burners were caked with grease and there was tons of nasty dirt, grease, and food under the stove. The gate key and my mail box key did not work.

Once I got those issues taken care of, the apartment is nice. I do like the layout of the aparment and the landscaping. As someone else said, the walls are somewhat thin. I don't hear people talking or the tv or anything like that, but of course I do hear them walking about. I also hear the water running from the shower in the master bath- its actually quite loud. An added plus for me is having them do the yard work in the afternoon - my other complex they did it at 7 am. I also really enjoy the lakes. Uncovered parking is horrible - unless you live near the entraces or exits, it is very limited. Maintenance is very slow and is it rude to say, some of them are not very intelligent?

Just some info that was not given to me until it was too late. You can not have a 602 cell phone hooked up to the entrance gate (for those of you who d/n have land lines) and if you decide to pay your rent online with a debit/credit card, there is a fee of 2.9%.

Nice staff, not so nice place
It's great that they are nice to you, but it's not so great that they claim to be "luxury". That just means higher prices.
I don't think you should pay for a name when things in the apartment are not even that high of quality, which makes you wonder what you are really paying for. The noise travels through the walls, bugs, and just not that impressed. I should have gone with my gutt on getting a more mature property, the construction was higher quality back then... (15-20 years ago or so).

Not so "luxury" apartments....
Don't count on your apartment looking nearly as nice as the model. My cupboards were painted with MAUVE flat paint, and although promises were made, they still haven't been fixed. Ton's of bugs, rust stains all over the outside of the building, noisy neighbors (by the way, I paid extra to live on "the lake" because of the view and the quietness... There is a busy street behind the lake and tons of bright lights!). It doesn't matter if the community is gated, my car and my boyfrind's car were broken in to and vandalized. Trust me, don't over pay to live somewhere that claims to be "luxury".

Very quiet apartment/neighborhood
This is probably the first apartment that my husband and I have truly enjoyed, and we've lived in apartments only for the past three years.

It is in a quiet community, as far as I've been able to tell. You can hear traffic noise from Baseline Rd., but that's about it (and that's because we are directly across from Baseline Rd.). In other apartments we have lived in, we could hear pipes/people/tv/water/everything in neighboring apartments. It is almost a 100 percent improvement here.

Some of the apartments have views of little ponds, which are nice. The balconies are cement with a drainage hole so water flows out past the neighbor below, which is also nice if you have plants to water or spill something. Second floor apartments have their own private stairway.

This is a very convenient location, especially if you don't have a car. There are buses on Power Rd. and Baseline Rd., and there is convenient access to the U.S. 60. Restaurants are directly across the street, as is a small hotel and car rental agency. Harkins movie theater, Home Depot, and more restaurants across Power Rd. (within 5-10 minutes walking distance!). Target and KMart also right across the 60 (a few minutes driving distance). Superstition Springs Center Mall is along the same street as the apartment. You can see it from the complex.

We haven't had many problems with the apartment. Maintenance could be more responsive about repairing our crappy screen doors, or balancing our washer. The office has been responsive about getting a beehive removed near our parking space, and about locking the mailboxes when they were left open by the post person (mail has been an issue once or twice -- missing mail, but we are confident that it's the mail person and not the residents).

Pool and hot tub are nice. Volleyball court and barbeque grills strategically-placed.

Parking is very good. There are nearly always open spots near the front of the complex. Yes, you will have to walk (gasp!) to get to your residence, but there are always more than a few open spots.

Re: Entry gate issues? We have never experienced any problems with the entry and exit gates. They have always worked properly and I can't figure out how they would smash someone's car (as stated in another post) unless they were parked in the way of the gate (and that would be the driver's fault).

Just a pleasant experience so far.

Update: We just moved out of this apartment into a house, and it was sad to leave. Yes, there were problems, but overall this was the best apartment we have ever lived in. Our rent would have been raised to almost $1000 a month for a second floor, lake view apartment, so it was just more sensible for us to find a house.

Loved it!
This place is the best. I come back each year as a winter visitor! Last year I made the mistake of going down the street to save some money, NEVER again! You pay for what you get I guess. It was kind of like shopping at Kmart instead of Nordstrom. The furniture quality is much better at San Montego and I did not have any problems with the cordination of everything I needed to be there when I arived. I love the well kept lakes and the walking trails through the property and having a fitness center that is always open and everything works is wonderfull. Things were always fixed right away and the maintenance was always willing to chat with me. The office girls are friendly and make the stay worth the extra money.

Good place to live
Recommend! I´ve lived here off and on in different units during the past several years. I always come back to San Montego. I´ve lived in several other apt communities and they just don´t compare. I´ve never had a problem here. First class all the way!

do they work there?
I have never lived in this community, they don´t seem too worried about renting an apt. I know the apt. was just vacated, did someone knock down every thing in that apt., which would be our´s?
