I believe this is the best complex in the area. The community is quiet and close to a lot of shopping stores and restaurant. I recommend to anyone to look into living at Farmingdate Apartments.

The apartment is fine. but the policies are anti-tanent. utilities are not what you pay for the use but you share the bill with all tenants in the building. i.e. even if are not using electricity, water, heat, you still pay. Also, 60 day notice on a fixed term lease is a rip off, if you miss to notify them.

Farmingdale is a nice place live. The office staff is professional and prompt. The maintenance dept. is prompt also. We've been here for close to three years now and we have seen a steady improvement year after year. I would recommend friends and family to move here. Sean H.

As a professional in the property management industry, I know what makes a good team, and a not so good team. In my dealings with the staff at Farmingdale Apartments, I have enjoyed my experience with an all around great team. From the minute we first came for a tour with Kelsey and Audrey, to the lease signing and move in process, to the current experiences I have, the ladies in the office have been nothing short of outstanding. I am not an easy person to impress, but they have done such a good job that I will recommend anybody looking for an apartment to go see Stephanie and Alyssa in the office. The grounds are well maintained, the service team is EXCELLENT and friendly, and the amenities fit around my schedule. Great job and an excellent choice for a HUGE floorplan. Keep up the good work!

Great place to live! My 4 year old daughter enjoys the pool from from Memorial Day to Labor Day. 24 hrs Gym at the clubhouse is great for exercising any time that works with my schedule. Excellent customer service! Friendly and courteous staff! Underground heated garage really helps on a day like today.

Very nice place to live. Very clean and lots of space with different parking options (garage and premium with fee or free in parking lot). Maintenance responds extremely fast and always does a great job, very polite. Knowing that anything that goes wrong will be fixed immediately and properly without any hassle is a big plus. I very seldom hear neighbors and neighbors say they don't hear me and my family of 5. Huge plus in larger apartment complexes. I appreciate the non-smoking community. Gym and pool always clean and ready for use. Rent gets high as water, hot water gas, and sewer/trash is added to rent with other fees.

To whom it may concern: This is the first place that we have lived that the staff seems to really care about their residents. We were extremely impressed as to the way Beth the property Manager and her team quickly responded to the issue, and how they handled it. We were also impressed at are return home when Beth and her team were waiting there to help out the tenants clean out there frig. We have been in other communities in the past were something like this has happened and had to live out of our cars. Again I want to say thanks to Beth and her team at Farmingdale Apartments and we would highly recommend Farmingdale Apartments as a place to call your home.

Worst community ever. Forgot about rating between 1 to 10 ; If there is a negative rating I give -1.maintenance is horrible. Nothing gets fixed . Community manager dies to give gym access and feels as if she is giving from her pocket. I am running out of words to explain how bad this community people are. They don't care about the residents comfort and looks like even AIMCO who manages this property doesn't care too...property manager is so rude that I can't explain.

Prospective tenant.....now iffy
Let me preface by saying that I have not yet gone inside of the property, however, my experiences with this property thus far may turn that. I work for the Federal government and am looking to take a detail in the Chicagoland area in the next few months. Based on what I like/know/pay in the DC area and having been familiar with the west suburbs of Chicago, I have been calling ahead to ask some questions about places that would interest me in IL. I initially called and spoke with Laura from the Regional center that talks about all of AIMCos properties, but I wanted more specific info, so I asked for hte property's direct #. Laura politely transferred me and Kathy picked up with a rushed/negative "hello, this is Kathy". I said "hello Kathy, my name is blah blah and I was wondering if I could ask a few questions about the property you have there". Her nasty reply to me was "I'm in the middle of posting rent-can you call back another time". This happened just today, Jan 2, 2012 at 11:50 CST. This was SOOOO rude and unprofessional that you would not care that much about potential tenants who clearly have a hand in the reason you have a job. Not only that, but it's tacky and careless to tell your work business (as if a potential customer cares-all I want is an apartment)and ask THEM to call you back as if I know when you are done doing what you're doing! The proper thing, if she were THAT busy, would have been to apologize that she was tied up right now, but get my name/# and would promise to call back in a specific window. All this to say that I was really feeling this place until I spoke with her. If the tone of management and/or AIMCO itself is likened to the character of this unprofessional unhappy woman in a job, I couldn't imagine dealings with this property being pleasant. And I wouldn't want to subject myself to simply living there but being mistreated by who is supposed to care about my happiness and comfort. I am unsure if Kathy is just weekend help, but if she is the manager, I will be calling AIMCO headquarters to complain and I won't be staying there. Should she just be a weekender, if regular staff can make up for her slack, I may have a forgiving heart and reconsider. The places are nice, but not that nice where you can be outwardly rude, especially for the price being paid. If you can be that nasty to someone you don't know, imagine how she must treat residents she does know who are stuck in leases and in some ways at the mercy of the property until it expires.

lived here for 10 YEARS
While looking for an apartment for my daughter she made me aware of this website. So I had to look into the complex that I live in. After reading some of these reviews I was staggered by the comments. My apartment is great, ever since they renovated it has been one of the best places I have ever lived. The group in the office is very friendly and attentive. You have to realize that you get what you pay for. Farmingdale is a bit expensive, but for the schools and the quality of the apartment it is unmatched. I will say the only drawback is there are only one elevator available per building. This can be hard at times. Otherwise I love my apartment.

FALSE ADVERTISING! WHAT A JOKE!
On Saturday, the 23rd, I went for a scheduled appointment to Farmingdale. When I spoke to someone on the phone on the 18th, she stated that there was a 3 bedroom model to show me and that although there is not one available right now, we could put our names on a list to lock in the rate that they have now. When we arrived, the clubhouse was locked. We had to wait 30 minutes to get in. And to my surprise, once we got in, the leasing agent nervously stated that our appointment was canceled and he called me by another name. He was actually laughing at this time. It took him less then 3 minutes to state that there is no 3 bedroom apartment for us to see and basically he can t help us. Could I have not been told on the phone about this? Is this company so greedy that they advertise everyday on Craigslist that there are 3 bedroom apartments available and then when you go in and make an appointment get treated the way that I did? Word of mouth is key. And, I am hoping that I stop someone from wasting their time with these people. Reading the reviews below, I am glad that my experience with them will not go further. I wanted to give them a chance, and that I will never do again!

Very Disappointed
We signed a lease agreement with Farmingdale earlier this summer after being very impressed with the size of the unit that we looked at. However, it didnt take long to realize that 1 of the leasing office representatives, was very, very rude. It took weeks and weeks to get some kind of confirmation of whether or not an indoor parking space would be available when we were scheduled to move in though it seemed as though looking in a binder was all that was necessary. Next, when it came time for the resident to move out of the unit we were to rent, we were told that they had moved when it was obvious they still had not, and when we questioned the leasing representative about this, she became even more unprofessional and downright rude. We decided not to sign our lease because of her. On the positive side, the property manager (MaryAnn) was very pleasant and the Management Co. (AIMCO) returned all of our money promptly.

No, really, it's nice here
I've lived here for a year, and there have been very few issues. Yes, the rent is a little high (which is the only reason we are moving, losing a job n all), but if you can afford it, I recommend it. There are no mice (which after reading reviews that scared me). Let me break it all down: Parking: For $50 a month you can have an underground parking spot, which is really nice in the winter. You park below your building and the elevator takes you to your floor. They also have "trolleys" you can use if you have too much to catty. I don't have a garage spot, I park in the lot, which is just fine. It is lit up at night, and my brand new car hasnt been damaged of stolen. However my building (715) faces away from the main lot, so we have our own "mini lot" at the front of the building, which I think helps keep it quiet. I'm not sure the other buildings have a second lot. Noise: It is quiet here, mostly. Right now they are working on the street (walnut) but that is a city of Darien issue, and should be done soon. The other times it gets noisy are when the lawn guys come (once a week). I swear they have the loudest mower and leaf blower in the world. But if you are up by 10, you are good. I rarely hear the neighbors. Like all apts, you can hear them through the bathroom once in a while. Occasionally you will have a party, but they haven't gone past 12A on a weekend. And if you have the windows open you will hear Darien fest for a week. Grounds: The grounds are well kept all year round. The only snow removal issue is if there is a sudden snow fall on sunday since the maintenance guys are off (however if its a severe snow, Im sure someone will take care of it). Ive never had to walk through more than an inch on the walkway. The apts are near the condos, and a subdivision that is quiet. Safety I have never felt unsafe. THe lot and underground garage are lit. The main entrance is locked, your apt has a deadbolt lock and Im not sure what its called, but its like a chain lock but no chain, just a solid arm. The windows all have locks, including the patio doors which have the regular lock and a bar lock. Construction Nice solid brick and concrete building. Im no engineer, but all seems well to me. The building is over 20 years old, so a few of the door frames needed to be readjusted due to shifting, but the guys fixed that right away. Maintenance The maintenance here is awesome! The best I ever had, and Ive lived in about 6 different apts. You just call the desk or put in an order online, and they are here fixing it within a day (maybe 2 if they are super busy). Sometimes they can even get in the same day! When there is the occasional building issue (filter checks, alarm checks, or the rare city needs to turn off the water for a few hours) the issue is posted by and in the elevator, ans well as on your apt door within a day or more before, so you are ready. The guys are always friendly, quick, and thorough. Staff The ladies in the office are both friendly. They know what is going on, and they are respectful. Once time we made a rent payment and the system was down so it never was logged. We received a notice saying we didn't pay it and were being evicted. I went to the office with my credit card bill all ready for an argument to fight for my cause, but the lady quickly remembered us paying and fixed everything before I could pull out the papers. That was extremely rare. Overall I love it here and totally recommend it.

Nice place
I'm surprised at the negative reviews I've read on here. I'm a current tenant who's been there for the last year and a half, and I've never had any problems with the management or the staff. They do monthly service checks, have attended to any and all problems quickly and professionally, and have allowed us to use credit cards to pay rent, which is very nice for getting more airline miles. Other tenants have been quiet, polite, and friendly. While I haven't taken advantage of the pool, my building faces it and it's always quiet and clean over there. I don't see what the problem is by asking how much you make per year. It's something that you'll have to reveal and have checked anyway. Of course, if you don't make the minimum, then I can understand your frustration at not being able to live in such a nice place. I wish you good luck in your search.

So phony!
Come on! Now you know that last review was from management. Sound more like ADVERSITING to me. What does airline miles have to do with anything? As for asking about the pay, it is not appropriate to come straight out asking about money. Have you ever went into a restaurant or store and the worker stopped you at the door and asked, do you have enough money to shop here? That's not how it works. You are suppose to let the customer look around first and IF they decide to purchase or move forward THEN you get into that information. I suggest that management just take the constructive criticism and make changes.

Beware!
I live in Farmingdale apartments. I pay nearly $1500.00 per month plus extra for utilities (electric heat and water is the tenants cost) for a 3 bedroom apartment with indoor parking. My first floor apartment is over the garage and every time the garage door opens and closes the bedrooms vibrate and there is a loud disturbing grating noise. I have to sleep or read in bed wearing ear plugs. It is like living in the garage. When I contacted the management office I got a sarcastic and rude response. They refused to fix the problem (i.e. put an accoustical tile ceiling in the garage or another layer of sheetrock). My apartment is large and quite nice however the people who run this complex are offensive and overtly negligent. By the way they also provide you with free pets (four foot furry ones with long tails) - I found mine after the second month. Advice - don't rent here.

Very rude and very insulting
I have no reason to lie, but I thought it would be nice to earn people. I called this property on 1/29/07 to ask some questions about rental. The woman on the phone was very persistant to get my phone number or email address. Because I was just looking around and calling several properties, I did not want to give my information out. The rental agent continued to be very rude and would not leave alone that I did not want to give out my info. Then the rental agent hung up on me! I still can't believe she hung up on me because I would not give a phone number. Needless to say, I will not move there!

OneSidedLeaseAgreements/Management Rude/
I'll give it to you straight. The "nice place to live" reviews are from management(the same on every apt review site). I'm writing the review because it's my only vent. Lease agreements are one sided with year-to-year leases, 60 days notice before moving required, $2000 to break the lease, and I've heard they don't bend the rules to help you if you need to stay another month or so after you give them a 60 days notice (watch it if you're building or buying a house and it's late). Management has changed four times in 1.5 years. Sometimes, they were nice, other times (like now) they'd rather spit on you than talk to you. Complaints are almost always blown off (and I don't complain often). My electric bills are $225 during the summer (ouch!) - and I watch what I'm running at certain times of the day. Management doesn't believe me, or care (no suprise there). Maintenance are very nice and seem trustworthy, but don't know how to fix 25 year old air conditioners (but at least they come and try). Also, my car got keyed once. However, in all fairnes it has been a quiet place to live, the place it built like a rock with cement slabs between floors, no mice or bugs but sometimes you have to take matters in your own hands to keep the peace.
