Since I moved in there have been nothing but issues with this place. The apartment that was supposed to be cable ready, wasn't. I had to pay to have them install new cable lines. They tried to increase my deposit after it was already in writing. The deck was dry rotted and if you were to stand on it, you would have fallen through. That took almost the entire time I've been here to get fixed. They charge you fees after rent has been paid then sent late notices with threats of eviction. And the crowing jewel of this place is they forgot to charge me for my dog fee and pretended like they had no idea I had a dog. I HAD TO SEND IN PICTURES TO THEM BEFOREHAND. Now I'm being charged more for rent AGAIN after it was already increased from the time I signed a document to hold my apartment and price. Bottom line. This place is nice, but it's ran TERRIBLY. STAY AWAY, STAY FAR AWAY

DANGEROUS, CARELESS, UNPROFESSIONAL, and DISMISSIVE!!!! I'm going to start with the most recent scenario which has radically enforced my experience to beyond unsatisfactory. First, this is an apartment complex - not a shelter, meaning, you pay money to live here, GIVING this establishment your business. I called the rental office on Sunday, June 16th 2019 and left a voicemail (afterhours) about an event that occurred in front of my building, (which I won't detail here for safety reasons), asking that someone please return my call about what can be done with me changing buildings. Now, the complex I live in, (and pictures CAN be provided), is next to a creek that leads to another unaffiliated develop on the other side. There have been COUNTLESS dangerous incidents that have taken place due to these "children" running through there after doing their mischievous acts. I've asked if a fence can be put up to close off the passage - no response. There are documented police reports about events from these people, doing threatening and disturbing acts, INSIDE of my building. Referencing back to the event from June 16th, I never received a call back, a text, an email, a note on my door - nothing. No attempt at communication from this property at all. I work, as most adults do, standard business hours, so I was unable to visit the rental office again during the week to follow up. This past Sunday, June 23rd 2019, I went to the rental office to find out why no one took the time to even pretend they would get back to me or working on my request. Let me inform you, they have ample resources to communicate everything else on the planet when they want to drive a point home. When I walked into the rental office, the only person working was presently with someone, which isn't a problem, so I sat down and waited at an empty desk. Maybe 5 -7 minutes lady, Zoe appeared and asked how she could help me. At this time, she sat down - I was still sitting. I started explaining the incident that took place, my voicemail, and asked why anyone hadn't contacted me in return and how that made me feel. Let me say, within 10 minutes, she called the police on ME! Now, there are cameras in the rental office and outside; I'm making a point of saying this because if I thought there was footage of me being erratic or police rearing necessary, I wouldn't even make this post. This young lady informed me, that in the midst of me explaining my deep and valid concerns about my safety and my child's safety, she didn't like my tone. My tone. I shouldn't be upset. I can't get upset. So, she called the police. Let me point out the MANY flaws with this ordeal. She is in no moral, professional, or personal position to ever dictate how I am allowed to FEEL as a result of their direct disregard of my situation. With the climate of our country right now, specifically with law enforcement responding to these "calls", it was dangerous, irresponsible, callus, and maliciously methodical for her to call the police on me, when I never cursed at her, threw anything, threatened harm to her, or displayed any other type of threat. I have video footage of my sitting down, while she walked away to call the police, but she walked off when she saw I was recording, so there's no TELLING WHAT SHE SAID TO THE OPERATOR - AGAIN PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER. If a person's TONE is that threatening to someone working in CUSTOMER SERVICE, you're in the wrong field and maybe suffering from some personal trauma. Reread this and notice how an incident involving me and my child, turned into something about her and her feelings being hurt. My life wasn't worth the attention of her feelings being hurt was/is. I have yet to be contacted about my original request, but about an hour ago, I received a voicemail from the property manager specifically stating the call was about the "confrontation with his employees", no mention of the original reason of my call. which LAW says, only certain people are ALLOWED TO BE FEARFUL/WORRIED to deserve the same fragility as others UPDATE : To add insult to injury, when I spoke with the "Property Manager" Chris, he showed no serious concern for my initial issue, which was the robbery with a weapon, that took place directly in front of me and my minor daughter. He deflective and enforced the same manipulative tactics of his employees, by trying to change the narrative. Also, he informed me that I was aggressive - notice the pattern here - because I expressed to him, as the person of authority, how uncaring and disregarded I felt that not ONE person even tried to contact me after I reached out for help with such a serious matter. He told me that he has a family, yes - he said that, so he's not available on the weekends. I'm so happy that his family time supersedes the safety and well being of my family as a human and a tenant. I have a voicemail and video footage to support my claims. In all honesty, with the pattern of behavior, not just from him and his staff, but the events all of over the world, I truly am under the impression, that a black woman, in the eyes of people like him, will always be aggressive and "at fault" whenever we expression ANY emotion outside of humility and subservience.

Save your money and do not move into his complex. The marijuana smell is overwhelming. It smells like a Cheech and Chong movie. I had to get charcoal air fresheners to try to alleviate the smell. I brought it to management attention. And nothing was done. Also, the children run around all night in the past I have Consideration for people who have to get up at next thing go to work. Don't waste your money and move here. Go someplace else.

ANGELA in the rental office was such a big help! From the time I came in as a prospective resident, when I signed my lease and after move in she has been great, very polite and helpful. I've been searching for an apartment close to everything and when I saw these apartments I just knew I had to live here. Any issues that I had in the apartment were fixed the same day or the very next day which is a big deal to me . Over all I had a great experience moving in and Angela was a big help I would recommend coming in & seeking her for all of your apartment needs.

I hate it here been here for almost 2 years and I cannot wait for my lease to end. Since I been here there has been nothing but bad things happening a water main break underneath my apartment within the first couple of months of moving in even though the situation was unforeseen they did not offer me another apartment or hotel to stay in while my apartment was being reconstructed that should been the first sign. They have a bad rodent issue so beware and not to mention maintenance there is a joke be prepared to wait at least a week for anything to get fixed. Lastly my apartment was broken into while I was out of town it took them over a week to replace the screen on the windows they've done nothing to reassure my safety I wrote regional management a letter still no response. Only positive thing was the former property manager Kimberly Gough she was great very helpful. I want out my lease take my advise DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!

Run far away!! I'm 34 and this is absolutely the worst money that I have ever spent. Since living here I've had my bedroom ceiling cave in TWO times and ruin my stuff. I'm lucky as I was not home when it happened. Recently had a torrent of rainwater pouring through the hvac vent in the living room. No worries! Nothing some fresh paint can't fix! They just paint over exentisive water damage and ignore the health hazards like mold. I've had to learn to tip toe AT ALL TIMES because the floors literally creak and crack EVERYWHERE in the house. If I do not tip toe my neighbor under me bangs on the ceiling like a wild animal. The floors sound like a 1800s home here. My neighbor above me wakes me up every night at least 3-5 times by simply walking around in their apartment. I have never had a full 8 hours here. The maintenance men seem like they don't know what they're doing. Do yourself a favor.. Become homeless before you subject yourself to this nightmare. I will be uploading videos of my ordeal to YouTube. A few months ago a bad storm caused a piece of the roof to come loose. It banged extremely loud next to my window against a brick wall for 5 weeks before they it finally blew away and fell off. They just ignored a 6 foot chunk of siding hanging and banging the wall everytime the wind blew. Needless to say it was very loud. I'm a internet marketer since 06 and will make my experience known. I was ok until they just painted over water damage undermining my intelligence and health. No surprise they only respond to positive reviews lol, very professional. Icing on the cake was no compensation for the hastle I went through or furniture that I lost.

I was a future resident until I arrived and the prices on the website totally didn't reflect what was told to me in person !!!! It's absolutely ridiculous! The agent told me that you don't find out the actual price until after you waste your money on a application fee then the break the news to you . Wow!!!!!! So misleading and false advertising is okay with you all. There's no way you can say you don't have control over what's posted on your website because you absolutely do!!! We not recommend these apartments just based off the false advertising that alone is misleading and tells you what kind of people you'd be dealing with, after traveling all the way across town . Smh way to go!

I hate this community. My car was stolen out front of my apartment 2 months after moving in. I called the office to have my locks changed and it took them two days to respond. Some one was constantly smoking marijuana in my building after many complaints. The boilers are very old and not remodeled. They turn your head off at a certain time of year weather it is still cold out or not and they do not notify you. Their solution is get a space heater. biggest complain is how unprofessional the staff is. My security deposit was not returned to me within the 45 day grace period and they actually only put one lease holders name on the check instead of both lease holders so now I am completely out of a deposit after all the maintenance to clean the apartment. The response I received was corporate made a mistake, I'm sorry.

My boyfriend and I moved out of our parent's houses and decided to rent from here. First off, when moving day came they gave us a unit that didn't meet the criteria we specifically discussed with the consultant when we came to check the place out a few weeks prior. We were then told there currently weren't any units available that met our requirements. We have a dog so we requested a unit not on the top floor with either a porch or balcony, with an in unit washer and dryer. We were then told that every unit was going to get its own washer and dryer within the next few weeks. We got the keys to a unit on the top floor of the building without a washer and dryer. So we called over to the leasing office to inform them about the missing washer and dryer (we were going to let the fact that we were on the top floor slide...). They then offered us another unit on the top floor in a completely different building on the opposite side of the complex or a unit on the bottom floor in the front of our current building (so no balcony or porch, just a big window...)Since we already had all of our belongings and furniture packed in our uhaul, we decided to settle for the bottom floor apartment. A few months into our residency our towel rack in the bathroom came completely off the wall leaving two gigantic holes in the wall. I called maintenance and they came out while I was at work, I came home and the towel rack was completely unleveled and the spackle/paint job was the worst I've ever seen (pictures attached to review) two months later my kitchen flooded due to a clogged drainpipe behind the washer/dryer. The maintenance crew cleared out the clog, but once it was fixed, I started my washer up and the maintenance crew didn't hook up the pipe line to the drain and I had water everywhere again. The maintenance crew is friendly but a joke! Also it's been really inconvenient with all the water shut offs and random apartment maintenance every other week with only a day notice! This went on for like two months. They are constantly changing ownership, recently they changed from Alta Apartments to now the pointe at Whitemarsh- this made it difficult to pay our rent because they shut down the online payment service less than a week before rent was due, then decided to change their office hours for Saturday before New Years and close at 3, which was two days before rent was due. We have never paid at the front office, only online. So I wanted to clarify a few things before just dropping off a check in the drop box, especially because you're supposed to pay utilities with your rent so the amount you pay in rent is never the same. I was unable to do that due to their unannounced early closure and then not being open at all on New Year's Eve. The windows in my unit do not keep heat in so we are constantly freezing, no one picks up after their dogs, so there is risk of disease and everywhere you step, even on the sidewalk sometimes, there's feces. This makes it hard for my dogs to find a spot to go and makes walking over to the pool or fitness center very unpleasant. My rent is up in Nov 2018 and I will NOT be renting from here again. I know that when you rent a place, nothing will be perfect but this experience has been very, very far from perfect.

I have been living in the Alta apartments back when they were Fox Hall Apartments. I must say I love it here. The Alta staff are very friendly and really care about their residents. The area is a nice quiet area, never had any problems with neighbors being too loud.

Okay so every other day they turn my water off for some annoying reason dealing with the building. And today the entire buildings power has been out since the middle of last night and mind you it's now 7:00PM and it's 30 degrees outside. Our rent is supposed to be 1275 but it is almost $1700 this month because they are including utilities and it goes up another $100 every month. Don't move here. Seriously.

I hate this apartment complex/ management. I lived there from 2013-2016. When I moved out I left the apartment cleaner than when I moved in. The day I moved out I spoke to the book keeper to ensure no more fees were due. I was told I owe nothing. After 30 days, I inquired about receiving my security deposit and I was told by office staff I had 45 working days to receive it. After leaving several messages with book keeper, I received a call back a week later stating I had an outstanding balance of $150.00 and it was sent to collections. I was very mad being I had been following up on my own and was told I had no fees due upon moving out. This apartment complex suck, the staff is unprofessional and rude. More so incompetent to put it frankly. The complex has rats, black flies in apartments and you pay for non residents dumping trash at the facility. Some units have washer/ dryer but the water bill is not divided equally to those who have no washer/ dryer. If anyone read this think twice before you move in. I would not recommend these apartments to a friend or relative. In 2015, someone broke into my apartment and I was told by leasing office that I left the window unlock, it's my fault.

When everything switched from Fox Hall to Alta everything went down hill. Management is absolutely awful and I don't see them being able to keep up with the property very long at all. Someone came into my apartment claiming that I had made a maintenance request when I had not and then I was given a bogus excuse from the rental office for the mishap.

I cannot wait for my lease to end so I can get out of the Alta Apartments. The rent does not include fees for water, sewer, trash removal so every month there is an additional 50.00 added to the rent. The walls and floors are thin because you can hear and feel your neighbors next door and above. The children play in the hallway and leave bikes all over sidewalk at entrance to building . Dog owners leave dog feces throughout the grounds. The tenant on the terrace level has two dogs that I named the "barker brothers " left outside at 5am every morning barking. The dogs were groomed and huge clumps of dog fur were left in the grass below. The tenants smoke and the odor continously comes into my apartment so I have to keep patio door and windows closed. There was a mice and roach problem that caused other occupants to move to a different building. The heat is activated by the apartment management not the tenant. I used my electric blanket because the heat was shut off on a certain date until next winter. The gas for heat is divided between the tenants in each building due to a bulk gas meter. No individual gas meters.

Wouldn't give this place one star if I had the choice. I loved living here when it was owned by Home Properties. Once Village Green took over we were told they are trying to make this a family environment. Guess since I'm not married that they are ignoring me so I break my lease. Apartment always smells like pot or cigarettes, neighbors have 5 people living in a 1 bedroom (only allowed 2 per bedroom by they pay their rent on time so it's ignored. Of course they can, they have 5 people), neighbors with subwoofers that go until 1am w/ constant noise complaint calls to the police (nothing done of course after notifying office), trash inside and outside buildings at all times, broken down vehicles w/ flat tires can be parked for months without anything done, my balcony door leaks and I was told it's supposed to do that, snow removal is a joke unless u live near the leasing office cuz they had it cleared 3 times before mine was touched (blizzard Friday- no plow/salt or anything until Wed at 11pm aka sheet of ice for days w/ no salt) , and the list goes on and on. I have been reporting issues for months now and nothing gets done. Just get told that they're checking into it or they're seeing what they can do. I left voicemails yesterday for courtesy patrol and the office (after hours) as well as emailed the property manager directly.... Never heard a thing so I called the office and was told the property manager would call me back after her meeting. Office is closed and no call back. I am fed up with this place and the terrible residents they do nothing about. I'll be contacting a lawyer to move out of this place.
