Not so bad
My husband and I have lived in these apartments for 1 1/2 years. The only bug problems we have are occasional silver fish. Our apartment is VERY squeaky, but the neighbors below don't hear it. My apartment was relatively quiet until an inconsiderate family moved in. They have had the police called on them multiple times and they deserve it for the amount of noise they make. I can hear their argument perfectly clear and I live on the top floor! But other than that, I have no parking problems, I feel safe and the office people are okay. My only complaint is that our air conditioning broke, we had it running for about a week and it was still 85 F. So I called maintenance, a man came out, checked it, and said that it's just hot out and its working. After a few more days or almost unbearable heat and once my temp. reached 90, I called maintenance again. The same guy came out and said the same thing. Thats when I got my pissed face on and went to the office. I was very firm and quite clear of my expectations and how my air had better get fixed. Next day, a new man came in and said there was something wrong with it. The following day, it took 2 men three HOURS to fix it. Afterwards my air has been fine. BUT my BGE bill came and it was for $379. So again I went to the office and told them there is no reason why I should have to pay when THEIR maintenance man said it was fine. Currently they are reviewing my complaint. Other than that, I enjoy foxhall a lot. Until we find a house we are staying here.

Just Say No
If you like critters in the attic, poor maintenance staff and slamming doors then this is the place for you. When my daughter was 1 day old the maintenance man came because we smelled something burning. He said a fuse was loose and instead of working on it he wiggled it. The next day the smell got worse. turns out the fuse was burning and it could have set the apartment on fire! Colleen in the office is rude. I have gone to the office with issues and they have promised to take care of the issues (vandalism to my car), however they never followed through. I called and sent emails, but was ignored. We have complained about the critters is the attic several times, but we have learned to live with them for 2 years because our complaints have been ignored. The doors are heavy and people constantly slam them. My worst complaint is with the maint staff. When we fill out an email for service we always check the box saying they do not have permission to enter the apartment if we are not home. They don;t seem to care. Twice I have come home to a note on my coffee table saying they have been in my apartment. Keep looking... stay away from fox Hall

Good-bye Fox Hall
I moved into Fox Hall in the summer of 2008 and was pleased with well as the community. Everyone (office staff) seemed nice, friendly and maint. issues were handled immediately. But somewhere things changed. When I moved in the electric stove didn't work, the balcony blinds were broke, and the tub didn't strain due to a large amount of hair clogging the drain. I never got a walk thru however maint. did come right away to fix my tub, and stove. There was a leak in my children's bedroom coming from the newly installed "energy efficient" windows. I called one night while it was raining and was told that it was not an emergency but someone would be out in the morning to look at it. Needless to say no one came out. After several requests someone came but left a note on my door that they did not have a key for my apartment and I needed to provide them with a key. I was not making them a copy of my key when some had been in my apartment when I was not home before. Finally after about 5 months and very little rain, the problem was fixed. The Property Manager, Colleen and Toni are all a joke. They lost a check and were going to have me evicted because they are all idiots that cannot seem to enter payments when Ronni (bookkeeper) is not there. After arguing with Colleen in the office for about 20 mins I proved my case and she never once apologized!!! The water bill and oil bill is absolutely ridiculous!!! I have never lived somewhere where I had to wait for the heat to be turned on or off. The what we pay tenats should have total control. I used to love my neighbors but then all kinds of people starting moving in fighting, and yelling all hours of the night. I work and just because you don't does not give you the right to stay up all hours making noise. I am leaving Fox Hall sad because most of my neighbors are still great and my kids love the playground, but glad to be away from the office staff of Fox Hall.

MOLD
My husband and I lived in two different apartments in Fox Hall. The first was pretty good, from 2006-2008. Then we got our notice that rent would be going up about $250/month. We went to the leasing office and said we didn't want to leave, but we would if they were going to raise the rent that much. We went over the property list with them and there were about 10 available apartments that would be less rent per month than what they were raising ours to. We said we would move in to one of those. We tried over and over to convince them that they would be losing money by then having to clean both apartments and that we would be paying less rent (and they were having a hard time filling apartments). In the end, we moved across the street into another apartment which was identical, but a basement apt instead of 2nd floor, and cost us less than we had currently been paying in rent. That's when the trouble started. One night in our bedroom I saw something moving on the floor- it was a slug. Gross. We got rid of it and didn't think much of it. The next night, another slug. We looked for where they could be coming from, and oh boy did we find it. The corner of the building had leaked and water soaked the carpet and my husband's dresser, and the corner was covered in mold. We called the leasing company immediately and they said they would replace the carpet and clean the walls, etc. No such luck. They put in an industrial fan to dry the room, which ran for 2 weeks on electricity we had to pay for. Then they had to replace the drywall in the room, and then they "cleaned" the carpet. We were living in essentially a 1-bedroom apartment, and when we went to the leasing office to get money back for the loss of an entire bedroom (for 3 months!) and to reimburse us for the electricity, and the loss of the dresser and some of my husband's clothes, they refused. They also refused to let us out of our lease early, and since my husband and I were both graduate students, we couldn't afford to keep paying for that apartment while we lived in another one. I would never ever recommend Fox Hall to anyone.

I LIKE IT
I just moved into my apartment in April 2010. My apt is fully renovated and located right by the pool. I have not had any problems so far except for my AC but it was my fault because I cut off a switch in the kitchen that controls all that stuff. But what kinda bothers me is the amount of cars in the parking lot. I guess every household has 2 or more cars. But its not as bad as others has made it out to be. The fitness center nice, I love the idea of a laundry credit card and the neigborhood is decent.

not worth it
Around a year ago, I moved into one of the new remodeled apartments. My rent is $850/mos not including utilities. I wasn't aware that I would have to pay an ISTA water/heat bill at the beginning of the month AS WELL AS a BGE bill on top of my rent. That's 2 utility bills! My utilites and rent are /- $1000/mos. The ISTA bill is split by the number of tenants in the building. You will pay for other people's water and heat. I have a very clean apartment, decent neighborhood, nice neighbors. I look at the amount of money that I pay monthly though and I just have to step back and have a reality check. I can't afford this as a single person. I'm paying almost a third of my income to live here. Its convenient. For the most part, quiet. Its clean and new. HOWEVER, you are a number here. They tell you they manage hundreds of units. If you want an idea of what kind of service you'll get here, bring your laptop and sit in the clubhouse during business hours for an hour or two one day. You will hear them make fun of people coming and going. You will hear them bad mouth the people that call. You will hear their personal lives. I guarantee you that you will get an accurate idea of what kind of professionals you'll be dealing with. They are morons. They will either direct you to a nonworking maintenance phone number or have you call the accountant to deal with your problems. The people that work in the office CANNOT do anything for you other than direct you to someone else.

Is $200/month for water too much?
Yup, it's true. Move into Fox Hall and you not only get lousy maintenance, parking problems and mold in your bathroom, you get water bills ranging from $100 - $200 a month! Even if you're out of town, don't worry, you still get the bill because everyone else in the building used THEIR water that month. The way they bill is by dividing one large bill for the entire building between all of the apartments... They say that they base it on how many people live in each unit, but when they don't factor in small details like my neighbors kid and all of his friends living there when the mother is the only one on the lease, I'm left to pay their water bill. I went out of town for a couple of weeks last year, and STILL had to pay for everyone else's water usage while I was away. Spectacular. They really have their stuff together here. I would sooner wish for the Swine Flu than re-sign my lease here.

total dirty scam of evil doers
My husband and I moved into foxhall about 1 1/2 ago. At first the place was rather nice and people friendly. Then the dark side started to drift in. First it was the noise level increasing...loud,obnoxious people yelling obscenities in the hall ways and parking lots at ungodly hours. The creepiest was at 3am some guy pulled in front of our building with his windows down and blaring the Beatles "Eleanor rigby", that is the scariest thing to wake up to and then honking his horn to get someone to come outside. The arguments of delinquents is somewhat fun to listen too but then you just want to call the cops to make it stop. when we moved into the complex washing your clothes was free but then they placed a notice up in the commons area saying that "good news" you will no longer have to carry around quarters(never had to b4) b/c were getting new washer/dryer that take cards and you can put money on the cards and use them. But the machine that you now have to put money on is in the office and when it breaks in front of their staff they cannot refund you anything until the machine is accounted for at the end of the 2 wk cycle. They at the same time increased our rent. The new office w/ exercise room was finish earlier this year it is quite spectacular (glad i paid for it!), the only thing i have against it is that the exercise room has no cleaning products. so peoples sweaty dirty germs are left everywhere and you cannot clean it after or b4 use unless you bring your own wipes. Exercise room is really only suited for cardio as weight machines are useless. There are mice everywhere i have a client who lives 2 floors below me and said that he got a cat to keep the mice away which i thought odd b/c i have never seen mice around until i came home that night and found 3 mice on my patio...on the 3rd floor... and I have a cat. got rid of them on my own as apt complex did not seem to care and i have seen other complaints of websites about them being in the dishwashers. Just got another "good news" notice this week stating that the entrances to the apartment are going to be redone (which is going to interfere w/ppl getting in/out of apt for 2 wks) along with the utility company will be upgrading the electrical for our apt which may cause intermittent power outages... why is this good news?!? This apt is so old that the building have this antiquated metering system that seems to only an electric meter for each building. So if you are like me and like to have you windows open on nice days and turn off you a/c/heat but your neighbors want to run theirs into the next ice age you get to pay for it. the water is turned off for a bout a day or 2 every other month for something. The best thing i can say just happened to me last night. My husband woke me up @ 3am to tell me my car was being towed. Apparently the apt complex has the right (its in the lease) that if you car's registration is past due(even by a few days) they can tow it, and it will cost you $200 to get it back. That is more than the price of my renewal stickers, which i was waiting for, and a ticket for exp tags together in this state. There are probably worse places to live but you can do better than this. my husband and i are only staying until we can buy a house and leave the world of landlords behind

The Leaseing office discriminate
I loved Foxhall when I first moved in. I thought Tony-My leasing agent was really nice. However, after staying there for a little over a year I realized that was a ploy to get you in. As most folks, I recent suffered due to the economy. It has been a stuggle paying my rent and I have communicated that to everyone including the property manager. Since it was beginning to be too much, I decided to brake my lease and move home with family. I gave them 30 days notice, but after the 20th day I recieved calls for jobs. Since I had 3 calls in one week, I was certain, that I was going to land a job. I called and spoke with colleen-Assistant property manager that I was going to stay. Keep in mind that was Aug 20th, I was set to move out Aug 31. Fast forwarding to September 3,I am still in my apartment, I called the office because I recieved a letter to renew my lease and I had questions about it. The leasing agent informed me that they had me on notice to vacate the property. I told Tony that I spoke with Colleen 2 weeks ago and told her I was staying. Colleen tells me well I cant stay, that my apartment has been rented and Everyday that I stay I would be charged monetary damages altough she was the one that I told previously that I was staying.... She told me I had to leave my apartment and the applicant didnt even sign a lease. I am still in my apartment, but I felt like colleen was trying to get me out of my apartment. I filed complaints with the better business bureau and with the housing authority simply because I felt the way the handled the situation was wrong. Fox is a great place, they have made a lot of renovations and the price is decent, but they really need to upgrade their leasing staff.... Colleen is a racist. I've many other run ins with her so have other people on the complex and its evident minorities can stay on the property as long as we dont have nothing to say.

I have lived here for 6 months its horrible! The maintence staff is stealing from the residents who live here! I caught one with my webcam from a laptop. I plan to take the video to court with me. Don't EVER write a letter to the apartment staff they do nothing they did however post letters saying there has been theft in the area what they don't tell you it's all an inside job! So please save yourself a few headaches and heartaches and do not MOVE here!!! Mold is growing inside some of the apartments near the wooded areas.

the worst
A horrible experience since i lived there for 2yrs i can't wait to move graffiti writing on doors and hallways neighbors from freaking hell place was broken into 2nd week or i moved in they did nothing it was an inside job. The office tell you to put in writing the complaints like we're in school. Letters was sent several times THEY DID ABSOULUTELY NOTHING parties still continue during weekday and weekends wrestling, drums guitar you name it neighbors from hell. The office can care less who they move in just as long as its not effecting them and they getting their money. I had no good experience here at all they want to raise rent twice as much. They allow pets but don't continue to send out notice to tenant to pick up the crap My neighbor have a cat and the office don't even know... would they care heck no. it seems as if you have my same neighbors I had from eagles walk the same exact neighbors I bet you any amount of money They moved out just when i was moving i got fed up with them doing nothing i even called the cops a couple of times because of the noise. They wrestled, had parties weekdays and weekends, drums, guitar and graffiti on my door and hallways and on my mailbox. It was a night mare and they had a cat.

Poor choice
My first year was pretty much trouble free, but after signing a lease for a second year and moving in my fiance and our child we found how shady Fox Hall's management really is. 1) We knew we'd be loosing the free heat, but then they took away our free laundry (industry standard) and replaced our machines with pay laundry machines. The machines are sub compacts, meaning even though we only pay $1.50 a load (for each machine) we actually spend more than if we went to a laundromat. This was honestly peaty on their part. 2) We've recently had a massive problem with ants. 3) Without giving us the option they've included our water and heat utilities in our rent. If you pay your rent, but are late on your water, you can still be up for eviction, even though you're paying another company. 4) The rental office has let questionable residents move in. I'm pretty sure my neighbors upstairs are involved in selling weed, as they have very suspicious foot traffic all day and night long. My neighbors in the basement have started kicking out the glass in the entry door to our complex. The office also knows that one of the residents here has a pit bull, and they've done nothing about it. One of our neighbors is also a wiccen priest. 5) The management dropped our free water, free heat, and raised our rent to pay for a new club house that the residents are not premitted to rent or use. Essentially they made us pay for their nicer office. 6) The Baltimore County Police now have to drive around our parking lot twice a month or more.

I'd recommend everyone stay away...
In addition to hiking the rent and having the staff be generally unhelpful, Fox Hall is constantly taking away. The heat used to be free, but they recently took that away... fine, I can understand with the price of everything going up, but what they did not do is hook up any monitoring equipment to see each apartment's usage. So when the wife and I received two consecutive $100 heating bills when we did not run the heat AT ALL, we went to question them. They admitted that they simply took the entire building's usage, and divided by the number of tenants. This means I was paying for the heat other people were using. And the responses they gave were the best, no empathy, no concern, just "We encourage people to conserve energy" and "well, it's getting warmer out now so people will use their heat less!" F*** that. The only thing worth a damn in this place are the maintenance guys. I've never had an issue with them, and unlike the office staff, they're actually friendly!

nice fitness center, BAD living conditions
Fox Hall is apparently concerned with attracting but not keeping renters. While I've been here they have built a nice new fitness center and office building, while my heating and cooling go out for days at a time every summer and winter. As I write this my AC is down. it's been 3 days, and my apartment is still 90 degrees. They would have fixed it, but apparently a lot of apartments down, so maintenance hasn't gotten to us yet (the woman in the office actually told me this!). They spend their money on nice flashy things, but in the real upkeep of your place, they spend almost nothing. My hot water has gone out 4 or 5 times, my heat twice last winter and my AC twice last summer. It's only spring and it's out again, so I can imagine how many times it's going to go out this year. The heating/cooling system to my apartment is the most ramshackle thing I've every seen (maintenance actually said that to me!). I don't recommend!

MOUSE INFESTATION
Don't waste your money. We have lived in this complex for 2 years. It has progressively gotten worse. We have mice SO HORRIBLE that we are breaking our lease to remove our 10 week daughter from the infestation. I even called the housing inspector and they violated Fox Hall for it. I have pictures of the mice in my dishwasher when I open the door. And fox hall has not fixed the problem after almost 3 months. Ants are everywhere as soon as spring gets here. You NEVER have hot water in the evening to be able to take a shower!! Not only is rent 900 some dollars, we live on the 3rd floor apartment so we never had to use our heat. We never once turned our heat on this past winter yet we still got charged $118.00 a month for heating expenses on our water bill. We complained and they said they charge whether it is used or not. We got a 60.00 water bill, when we are hardly ever home to use the water... why? because there was a water leak in our building and they split the water bill between all the apartments. So I had to pay for THEIR pipes leaking until someone figured it out and got them fixed. The management staff are jerks, especially the assistant manager!! Everyone always acts like you are bothering them there ... even if you go in just to pay the rent!! The only good thing about them is their maintenance men are really nice and respond quickly when there is an issue!! Otherwise this apartment complex is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!! For the money you pay in rent, pet fee (if you have one), water bill, heat(whether you use it or not), and laundry costs.... roughly 1050.00 a month, you can find a REALLY nice apartment or townhouse for that price... and bigger!!

Goodbye mice and criminal neighbors!!
Don't move to Fox Hall! I am so glad that we moved out of Fox Hall because we had a horrible mouse problem, and an ant problem every Spring. Little by little the good neighbors moved out of our building, because of the living conditions. The rowdy and obnoxious neighbors stayed, however. They were the kind of neighbors that have fist fights in the hallways that you can watch through your peep-hole. They were the kind of neighbors that were so loud with their friends in the hallways at night that they would wake my three year old son, who was scared because someone was yelling so loud. The office staff was not friendly or helpful. I was blown away by the fancy, new leasing office that they built. The plush furniture and the large plasma tv in the waiting room was really a waste of money that could have been spent on better exterminators to deal with the mice that were all over our building and the adjacent building. The only nice thing I have to say is that the maintenance staff was friendly, but they were stretched thin and had the impossible job of trying to keep those old buildings from falling apart. Three weeks before we moved we had a pipe burst and the maintenance staff had to make two huge holes in the ceiling of our living room. The holes were still there the day we moved out. In those three weeks no one came back to fix it.

Line-dry their clothes on the BALCONY?...how much more gross can they go?
OMG, I live in this fairly crappy place for nearly 2 years--squeaky floor, no hot water in winter, horribly limited parking spaces, anti-friendly rental office staff, you name it. Yet what made me finally decide to move out is because I see someone line dry their clothes on the balcony literally "everyday", someone on the back side of 5 Whitelaw to be exact...so gross...No offense to other residents, but it really makes me wonder what kind of people would rent here...If you don't believe me, go see for yourself...

Lived at Fox Hall for Two years too long...
ok first i'll start off with the good stuff (since some people think people only remember the bad..) maintenance... awesome. i never had a problem that wasn't taken care of with in a week. ok bad stuff.. the parking is terrible. my car was broken into 5 times while i lived there. after the first 3 i stopped reporting it to the office because the office people couldn't have seemed to care less... they just wrote down the police report reference number and stuck it in my file. i did not feel safe just walking from my car to the apartment after dark. laundry: was great when we first moved in. we split the water bill with the other people on our floor which allowed for free laundry. so sharing a laundry room with three other apartments wasn't so bad. now, just recently we have to pay for laundry... still not that bad, but they took the washer/dryer units out of the middle floor so the four tenants on the middle floor have to share with the four tenants on the top or bottom floor. its very hard to find the time to do laundry when there is a machine available. office personel: very "nice". in terms of "i hate my job and i hate that residents keep coming into the office to make my do my job". i left the office several times, even after paying rent feeling very put off by whom ever i spoke to. pool use: major pain getting pool passes every summer. noise: ya i hear my neighbors, both top and bottom... but i guess thats apartment living. overall, i hated the place and am glad to be moving out next month.

I WOULD SPIT ON THE OWNERS OF FOX HALL
When we first moved in heat and laundry was free now we pay for them both and they took the washer and dryers out of the middle floors, there are two elderly ladies that live on my middle floor now have to walk two flights of steps we all complained to the main office and no responce. The people at the office dont write any reports about our complains they care less. They hire dumb maitenance people that have no clue what they are doing and they will tell you that.I asked one of them what their trainning is and he told me that the office gives us keys and says go to work i laughed and he smiled and said i know its bad. There has been a number of times when ive called and the maintenance people have never come out and when they did they either had no clue what to do or told me my problem i called for was now big deal. The heat systems are 30 years old and they run up my bge bill i pay the same as a single family home. THE NEW WINDOWS LEAK AND GET ICE ON THE INSIDE AND AIR COMES THROUGH LIKE IM OUTSIDETHE CARPETS CRAP THE FLOORS CREEK BAD ITS A FIRE TRAP WE ARE LEAVING IN 3 MONTHS THANK GOD. IVE EVEN CALLED DEPT OR HEALTH ABOUT MOLD A FEW TIMES.

Unbelievable.... R U SERIOUS?
Okay, so for starters, the parking is horrible and not well lit at all. No surprise, my car was broken into. Second, the hot water goes out in the dead of winter and so does the heat. So, not only do i have to boil water, I now have to find another way to get warm...Then, there is a fire caused by an irresponsible renter who fell asleep with a candle burning...Luckily, there were no casualities, just some smoke damage...a month or so later, a water pipe burst and now there is water all over my carpet....do I need to go on? Needless to say, I won't be here much longer. Clearly, not what I expected in this area...save your money and make sure you read these reviews. U can't say u were not warned.
