I have been living here since July 2008 and I STILL love it! Every single time that I have had a concern, it has been addressed quickly and professionally. Karri is the best and the maintenance guys are quick, professional, and helpful! Someone mentioned that management is a bit picky about trash, but I'm glad they are picky. To pay $$$ to stay here, when we go into or come out of our apartment, we don't want to look at multiple bags of trash and empty boxes, don't want the bugs trash attracts, and don't want our guests to have other people's trash be one of the first things they see/smell when they visit. If you want a quiet, beautiful, CLEAN, well-maintained apartment complex, this is it. (Parking is only "rough" in certain areas because an apartment might have 4-6 grown-ups living there who each drive his/her own car. If I lived/parked in a different part of the complex, this review would get "5 stars" for each category and overall. Still, I enjoy living here so much that I grin and bear the parking stuff.) A great place to live.

We've been living in these apartments since Jan. 2011 & just re-signed our lease. It's one of the closest complexes to Ft. Bragg. Our apartment is a third-story 2-bed, 2-bath with a gogeous view of the lake. Whenever we walk into our apartment we feel so at home. The office staff is great, Jenny and Jenna have become like aunts to my two kids. Whenever we feel like we need to get out and have no where to go we will go and visit the office. They always have free coffee, a computer with internet access, cookies on Friday, and a nice area with tables for playing games. It's kind of like visiting a coffee shop only without the cost! The maintenance staff has gone above and beyond. They are always very prompt and do a good job. They wave hello and sometimes stop to chat when we see them driving around on their golf-carts. They recently installed a special door to the front gate and extended the side-walk for people who want to do strollercize or walk to the Spring Lake library on Tuesdays for story hour. They also recently extended the patio in the pool area and added trash cans to the park for convenience; which was a suggestion I had made. If any packages come they will accept them in the office which is very convenient. We have made quite a few friends at the events that the office holds for residents (meet Santa, easter-egg hunt, 4th of July bbq). We did some shopping around at comparable complexes and found this to be competatively priced. It is relatively quiet... sometimes we see/hear the planes from Ft. Bragg fly overhead but my kids love to watch them. Overall we would definately suggest taking a look at this facility.

The apartments are decent and the maintenance staff are alright in my book. The front office staff are far from helpful and they are very finnicky about their trash removal service. I had my motorcycle stolen from directly in front of the leasing office and their surveillance system was pointing directly at the van as it drove out of the parking lot about 30 feet in front of the camera and you couldn't even read the plate. Parking is not adequate which is why I was parking in front of the leasing office in the first place. Lots of kids always at the pool. Bad neighborhood and bad security is not a good combination. The police told me another bike was stolen in the area the same night, so beware.

My 20-month experience at Fort Bragg, NC was outstanding for many reasons, and one of those reasons was my lodging at Village on the Lake. The management team, the living accommodations, the view and the lifestyle overall were collectively outstanding. I highly recommend to others looking to live in the Fort Bragg, NC Area to consider Village on the Lake.

I love this place. My husband was stationed in FT. Bragg and we moved in October of 2011. The place was always kept clean. The staff is very friendly. If you have any issues, they were very quick to resolve it. Never had any issues with anyone. It was close to the base and to the stores. I will definitely miss them all. Thank you all, our family's stay here was such a pleasure. I highly recommend them to anyone considering moving to the area.

I rented this apartment from September 2012 to present. My husband is military and was deployed, I got this apartment for his return home. The grounds are excellent, and well kept; no extra trash or nasty looking areas. Nice playground for children, and multiple BBQ/picnic areas near apartments and out by the lake. Lots of dog pick up stations in great locations that make sense for residences. Great work out room (pass key needed), nice clean pool/hot tubs. The apartments are more expensive, but the range of apartments goes from very sketchy to extremely nice which is why the price is higher because this is a better complex. (The sq. ft. is much bigger then most apartments.) It is a fully gated community, so no entry without getting through the drive in gate (unless the gate operation is down, of course.) Each resident is given two gate keys, and there is a call box. Our unit is a 1 bd. 1 bath with kitchen, laundry, cable, internet, door side trash service included. Very deep master closet and mid-sized bedroom. The carpet is the normal apartment carpet, but is still fairly clean. (Tile in kitchen, entry way, laundry room, and bathroom.) Small bathroom, but large tub. Large laundry room for storage. Indoor storage room (houses water heater) - our unit is upper level so no patio, but a sun-room instead which I preferred, instead of having to keep things outside, they're safe inside and dry. The staff is the absolute best!! They are wonderful and very friendly. When I moved in on day 1 they came out the same day to tighten the facet handles in the bathroom. And we have not needed to make any maintenance calls since move in. Kitchen is a decent size with good amount of cabinets, electric stove, and double well sink, granite counter-tops. As a military couple I appreciate what the staff is willing to help us with as far as paperwork and moving in/out is concerned.

Everyone's experience will be different. Mine isn't going so well. Good: The management is extremely friendly. The maintenance crew are also friendly and proactive in maintaining the complex. I see events that go on here to allow the residents to have a good time with families and friends. It is gated. They added extra security in addition to the gate by installing new lights and cameras. The gates being open are within reasonable hours (whenever the office is open). Bad: The walls are made of cheap drywalls. It's not the fault of the management, so you can't blame them. This is common in most apartment complexes that are built to have residents as fast as they can while trying to keep the cost down. Therefore, if you have a noisy neighbor, it Sucks. Overall, I'm not having the worst experience. The neighbor that I have issues with has personal issues that cannot be fixed. Unfortunately, this person lives adjacent to me, and it's frustrating. Most of the residents are nice here, and they greet each other when they pass by. I would recommend it, but I would be reassess yourself to see if you are able to live in apartment setting with neighbors that may be noisy. If you are coming from a house living, this probably isn't the right place for you.

We really enjoy the safe and relaxed complex environment. The staff is family oriented and very committed to ensuring residents are satisfied with their apartment complex. Additionally, they go out of their way to ensure holidays are celebrated so even the many soldiers who are away from family or wives who's husbands are deployed have someone to celebrate with and not be alone. They always include activities for children and are considerate of working schedules to promote max participation. The lake is well maintained and is a wonderful place to relax. I don't think many apartment complexes can compete with Village on the lake.

My family moved here last summer. We moved from a huge house and found we only had to store a few items. They have storage on property for you. The apartments are quite spacious. They allow pets, which is awesome, I have 2 cats. The grounds are well kept and the facilities(i.e. pool, fitness center, clubhouse, car wash area) available to us are very nice. They even have a trash valet! The staff here is very nice. They are willing to listen to any issue you may have. They promptly fix any problems that you may have which for me has been none. There is a lake on property, it nice to sit out and watch the turtles and geese. They do a lot of functions for the residents. We looked at a lot of places to rent in the area and nothing compares to Village on the Lake Apartments.

DON'T waste your MONEY or TIME!!!
Everything is brand new and modern, but it was put together terribly. The people at the office are nice at first but are incredibly snobby. The apartment itself has a wonderful layout, but not at all worth the money when it comes down to what the complex offers. The pool is disgusting, especially the hot tub. I really don't think they have ever cleaned it. The gym is never clean and just walking in it, I almost think you will get ring worm. Seriously, just run away this place is overpriced. It seemed nice at first, but you will see after awhile of living here how much it is not worth paying for. All of the people in the apartments complain. There is no open clubhouse to relax in, the gates are terrible and they crush cars constantly. Also, one main issue we have had living here is it was a brand new apartment phase and the contractors wired the building wrong, so each of the apartments were paying for someone else's electric for 8 months. The owners of the apartments would not take blame for it and neither would the electric people, so guess who got to pay for both of their mistakes?... The people renting from the apartments. The bills were recalculated in their own scamming way and the lady below us for example had to pay 600 in difference with no help from either parties at fault for the mistake. No payment plans were even allowed so there were late fees to be paid. The managers are crooks, the lady especially. The actual owners just let everyone else do their dirty work, but act all innocent and nice. They don't care about making their tenants happy, they just want to lock people in the lease and they take their money. As for the parking, it's just a nightmare. The spaces are generous, but they allow people who aren't handicapped to park in the handicapped. Lastly, to have a pet here it is 500 dollars!!!! You don't get that back either, plust 35 a month! Let's just say I did not get a dog.

RUN!!!
I have lived her for over 3 months. By the second week I realized what a huge mistake my husband and I made. The apt complex is a joke. Just keep looking do not rent these apartments. The pools are gross, the office ladies are rude, the apt itself has poorly been put together. In fact my husband and I are the first ppl to live in the apartment due to it being a new phase and let me just say it looks as if it had been lived in before. The cabnets are banged up the walls are cracking, the paint jobs on everything are so thin. This place is a JOKE. Seriously save yourself and your money. It is not worth it!!! I promise you!

new and not so new
My fiance' has lived here for a year and we just upgraded to a larger apartment with three bedrooms. I never thought with my kids I could be happy in an apartment but I was wrong. Moving was almost painless from one apartment to another. They gave us plenty of time without charges and were so helpful. They work hard to keep the grounds beautiful and offer more amenities than anywhere else this close to the airfield. The apartment is only slightly smaller than the 120k house we were looking at! The only downside I can see is the construction going on but even that is quieter than I expected and totally worth it because we ended up in a new never lived in unit. The floor plan is beautiful flowing and spacious and the upgrades make this place truly luxury living.

The best Apartment I have lived in.
I have lived at Village on the Lake for 3 years. I would first like to say the the Management here is wonderful. Any issue I have ever had has been dealt with proffessionaly and quickly. The grounds are always well maintained, and the apartments are very well built. I would recommend this complex to anyone who wants to live close to Ft. Bragg, but live in an area that feels removed from the town. Great place!!!!

Wonderful
We currently live here and LOVE it! The staff is wonderful, and they handle our questions and concerns immedetly. I love how open the floor plans are, also, with the way our unit faces, we enjoy the sunlight all day, and hardly have to use the lights during the day. A big plus is the full size washer and dryer that are already included! The only thing I don't like about it, is that the fireplace isn't real, but all the things I love about Village On the Lake cancel that out :) I would absolutely recommend this apartment complex to everyone!

The good, the bad and the reasons I'd rent from them again...
The Good: We got almost 100% of our deposit back even though we lived there for 18 months & have several children. (Before leaving, we paid for steam cleaning & wiped everything down. It wasn't perfect, but it looked clean. We were surprised & very happy to get our deposit back.) Maintenance issues were always handled promptly & knowledgeably. The schools are also excellent. The Bad: Be prepared to take your trash out during daylight hours or you'll get to meet your raccoon neighbors. Our A/C broke frequently & sometimes there were a few days without A/C while we waited for the parts to come in. Also, there were several times when we were not notified that we had a package waiting at the office. The Worst: Our electric bill was consistently between $350 - $425/mo, even using a discount provider. (We're a family of 6...Typical bills for us are around $250 in other homes, so we thought this was a bit high. Maybe it was just related to our A/C issues.) Overall, we were satisfied and would recommend these apts to others. We felt that they were safe, we couldn't hear our neighbors and there was adequate parking. It's a good apartment complex and the staff was friendly enough. It was also the only community in the area that was appropriate for our family size and still had highly rated schools.

Breaking Lease
That last review about giving notice has to be made up. I lived at village on the lake for six months and broke my lease to go overseas. The staff helped me find another place at village on the lake when I returned from deployment. I found a great deal on a house and wanted to break my lease to buy the house. They gave me options on breaking my lease and helped me through the process...they even let me mail boxes back from overseas and stored them for me for 2 months. People should actually read a lease before they sign it and realize they can't do whatever they want and cry about it later.

Cannot believe office people
I had lived in Village on the lake for 6 months. I notice them to move out and they did not really give me what to do, just say yes. Then when I told them I move out, they says I did not sign two months earlier. I did sign for the moving out (7 weeks earlier) and return the key on time and paid everything. But now after several month, they say I need to pay one more month and sent the report to collector company asking $1500 (They took my deposit). I dont want to pay them. I am going to take legal action. When I read other reviews, I see the same case. I think they enjoy making people's bad credit....

A place to call home!!
My husband and I lived here for 2 years before we transfered to another base and I miss Village on the Lake. With my husbands job he was always going away at weeks at a time and I felt VERY safe and comfortable in our home. Every apartment has intrusion alarms, which the maintenance staff showed me how to use, and it is fully gated!!! Another bonus for us was that the full size washer and dryer was already included, so we did not have to pay extra for them or use a community laundry room, and our basic cable was included as well!! If you are looking for a nice, well kept apartment home close to base then you should definitely check this place out. Like I said I miss the friendly staff and comfort of these apartments. I wish they could of followed us since our new places are not even close to this places standards!!

Poor Management
I rented a garage unit, but they double rented it to another tennant. When I corrected them, they returned my garage unit to me, but did not refund me any money for the time they double rented it to the other tenant. When I moved out they charged $555 damages. My wife spent an entire day cleaning the apartment that I lived in for only six months. They did not indicate to her that there was a problem with the cleanliness when she returned the apartment. They later charged me a couple of hundred dollars for cleaning. They charged me $115 dollars for a torn screen that my dog damaged - the damage was caused by my dog. They did not apply any of the $250 pet deposit to the damages - that is a fee they said, not a deposit. I disputed the charges and left with a $28.00 disputed charge. They turned over as bad debt to the credit company $686.00. I have sent the credit company the reciepts, but they refuse to correct the balance. I now have to take legal action to correct the credit report. Inncorrectly plumbed my aprtment and half of my apartment was on another departments water meter. After repeated attempts to request that they correct the problem, I had to go to the city to have them do an audit which indicated the incorrect plumbing.

HOME
All I can say is Welcome Home!!! After seeing the pictures on line, I called asking for information and the lady (now I know as Karrie) answered all my questions so sweetly I was so excited to see if this place was for real. When I got there, Karrie was with another person so the manager(Debra)came out and greeted me just a friendly as Karrie did on the phone. Deborah took over 45 minutes with me showing me every thing and chatted with me like we knew each other for years. The apartment was exactly what I had seen on the net, ALOT of space...Clean...fireplace, beautiful granite and the master bathroom was fantastic. I have now lived here for 2 months and I love it! It is quiet and peaceful living.

something to consider
well over all i loved living at village on the lake, the apartment was nice, and our dogs loved it. The staff was so helpfull in the beganning. However if you have dogs they will find anything to charge you for when you leave. Also I came in on the 1st to put in my notice, and said on the 31st i wanted to be out. Debra said i needed my husbands orders, which is understandable, however she made me pay up through the 13th of the following month, she called me on the second and said they needed my keys, that they had it rented for the 7th. So i guess they were getting money from me and someone else. Well i ended up saying ok refund me my money through the 7th, and get a small storage bin that i left and that will be find my friend will pick it up on the 12th. My friend got there, and they had thrown my stuff away.and with that said and done, now they are automatically drafting my account for money. i was told i could pay 200 a month for 3 months till my damages were paid off, but never signed anything saying it was ok for them to just take it out. I have never been late on a payment or i would understand. I called the front desk and ask to speak with debra, and that was a month ago and still no phone call. I guess above all moving in is a pleasure, and so is the stay, just be ready to dish out some money on your way out because its a royal pain in the --- to get out.

A good decision
In a previous posting I was unsure about renting in Village on the Lake. Fortunately we did. We moved in on 7/5/07 and I just love to live here. Kudos to the office manager and specially to Debra. They are very professional and accomodating. We have two small dogs and they love to walk by the lake. There are many residents with dogs and they all behave very well (except mine). We are renting a 3-2 with balcony on the 3rd floor. I love the floor plan, the balcony is superrr large and there is a storage room there. We pay about 1,025.00 per month and cable is free. Although the middle school in the district is Spring Lake Middle, kids will attend Pine Forest Middle School (which is a top school) because the area school is in probation by the dept. of education and it will let you opt-out for the 2007 school year. Older students will attend Pine Forest High School (another top school) which is close to the middle school. I visited both schools and I was impressed with the curriculum. The location is the best in Spring Lake/Fayetteville area. The public library is outside the gate and also the Fayetteville Technical College Spring Lake Campus. My dog's Vet is a 5 minute walk. I walked to the supermarket, Radio Shack, and big lots yesterday. It took me 10 minutes to walk there (4 in a bycicle). Husband is 5 minutes (in car) from work (Pope AFB). And for teenagers, there is a public transportation stop in front of the library if they are into going to the mall or college. There are only a few apts. available in the complex. If you call, tell the office that Elizabeth from 625-301 referred you.

Classy, beautiful, and spacious.
Village on the Lake is a new construction. Just like purchasing a newly built home, you are going to discover little tid bits for the first year. Overall, my husband and I are pleased. We have a lake view. The windows are large and all face towards the Lake. Great insulations. There are some evenings we do not run our AC. Some design features seem as though they were not thought through; however, the apartment is beautiful, spacious, and quiet. Most of the amenities are included along with the apartment already having luxurious construciton such as granite counter tops and ceremic floor tile. Management here is absolutely professional and friendly.
