Poor All Around
My husband and I lived at Green Meadows for 3 years. I'm just going to list what our experiences were like.

1. Somebody's dog defecated on the steps leading up to our apartment. We called the leasing office, they said the'd have somebody come clean it up. It took a week for them to finally get it cleaned up.

2. Our neighbor who lived adjacent to us, left his garbage out in the hall, which contained rotten food and baby diapers in it.

3. The neighborhood kids that lived in the complex always hung out in the stairwells, past the 10 PM curfew. They were loud and obnoxious. But, nothing was done to stop them.

4. People always left their laundry in the washer and dryer (1 of each washer/dryer in each building). So, trying to do your laundry was a nightmare to say the least.

5. When at the swimming pool, I seen parents whose babies/toddlers were in plain baby diapers. Yuck!!! How unsanitary.

6. There were shopping carts from the local plaza scattered all over the courtyards of the apartments. Supposedly, the community thinks that they should have their very own shopping carts parked outside their apartments. This is very annoying, especially when they are parked in front of the door leading in/out of the apartments.

7. We were promised a new refrigerator when we moved in, because the one we currently had, was stained in the freezer part and defective. We never got one.

8. The further back from the leasing office you get an apartment, the more trouble. There was a fire that destroyed most of an apartment building. Guess how it started? A teenager was cooking french fries on the stovetop in cooking oil, and decided to leave for a movie, without turning off the stove. I'm not joking about this either.

Bottom line: TROUBLE EVERYWHERE

The truth is the truth face it!!!
The truth is the truth Green Meadows is what it is. I have lived here for a while and of course I loved it too. It was perfect at first. The area was and is still fab. But the apartments have deteriorated. They have not tried to refurbish the conditions of my apartment. As far as the paint goes I had to beg them to come and paint due to the over growth of mold. Hello, black mold in the window sills, bathroom tiles and behind the fixtures, on the bedroom walls and can you believe this in the refrigerator underneath the crisper. Thank God for Tilex mold and mildew remover. The reason why there is probably mildew in the refrigerator is because it has been leaking for the last couple of years. There is rust all over the bottom of the refrigerator and sometimes it has even leaked all the way out to the carpet. I have brought this issue to their attention and they told me that it was leaking because I had my refrigerator packed and that cause it to over work itself. I was born at night not last night!! So I guess I'm stuck with a leaky refrigerator for now. Yes, I have had trouble with the stench of barbecue grills in the summer. It is an awful smell especially when you are expecting. It made me sick to my stomach!!! How about the person who puts there garbage in the hallway or in the laundry room garbage can instead of taking it to the dumpsite. There was flies everywhere. Can you believe this a person released their bowels right at the front door twice. For that person who said that they love it, give it a few years maybe you'll have a different opinion. I have been here for a couple of years and most of things that the other authors wrote is quite similar to what I have been going through. I don't control my own heat (steam heat radiators) and since they have gotten a new owner they turn the heat off at around 11 every night. That is ridiculous especially in the winter when the temp. has been in the 20's and 30's. I have to turn the oven on (very dangerous) and use a space heater. That does not make any sense whenever you have small children and pay your rent on time every month. I don't have section 8 and my money is hard earned. There has been three children in my building that have had pneumonia. I believe that is no coincidence due to the heat and mold issues. As far as the parking goes yes you do have to purchase a parking permit for about 10 dollars which is really cheap but people still park where ever they want to. So, whenever you come home from work you have to find somewhere else to park. The children pick up rocks and throw them at each other nicking the cars and breaking windows. Green Meadows put down those rocks to replace parts of sidewalks instead of laying down cement. As far as parking is concerned not everyone can park in the garages some people do have handicaps. The parking on the street is not well lit, a friend of mine was robbed at gun point. They took everything including her car. Currently I'm looking to purchase a home in the Baldwin/Whitehall area. Owning your home is far better than renting, you can control your own conditions. I would rather make repairs in my own home rather than to keep calling them to almost fix things. One good thing about Green Meadows is that if I wouldn't have moved here my children would have missed out on going to a great school.

I LOVE IT!!
To the person who wrote the bad review about Green Meadows:

Oh my gosh! You mean you actually have to PAY YOUR RENT - AND ON TIME YET?!! HOW OUTRAGEOUS!! *Sheesh!* And are you telling me that you can't park on the streets, even though parking on the streets can be dangerous at times?! And are you saying that you actually have to PAY THOSE PARKING TICKETS?!! Geeeeez! The hell is never-ending, is it?! Good Lord.

I'm telling you, I live in a townhouse at Green Meadows - and I absolutely adore it! I OWNED my own house for eight years -- and it was sheer hell! I had to constantly worry about repairs. And then, of course, I had to PAY for those repairs. It was a never-ending money pit and source of tension. But since i've lived in this townhouse at Green Meadows - I have no worries at all, and I'm spending something like $400 less a month!

Well, okay, I WILL tell you that the first weekend I moved in -- there was a huge leak coming from my bathroom down into my kitchen! BUT, when I called mangement, they sent someone that day, and they had it fixed that weekend! AND THE BEST PART WAS - ARE YOU READY FOR THIS - I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THOSE REPAIRS!! Woohooooo!!

And about the other things mentioned in the other I review I read -- yes, I can control my own heat. Yes, it's plenty warm enough. And the parking garage is only twenty bucks a month! You can't beat a parking garage for that little money! (Heck, I lived in New York City 20 years ago and parking was like 15 bucks a half hour! Truly - 15 a HALF HOUR! I mean, for twenty bucks a month, geeeez, you can work an extra couple or few hours A MONTH - and there's your parking fee!) Oh, and by the way, I'm a mere secretary, so I don't make a fortune. The apartments are not expensive, and the townhouses, for what you get, aren't either. And, you know what they say about two people being able to live almost as cheaply as one, right? Well, I'm only a one-income family (unless my dog is bringing in money I don't know about - hmmmmmmm).

Now, I will also say that I haven't lived at Green Meadows in the summer yet (I only moved in about a half year ago), so I don't know what the barbecue smells are like, and all, as the other BAD reviewer mentioned -- but I WILL say this -- you're going to have that ANYWHERE YOU GO. Sheesh, unless you move to a friggin' island, or you live waaay out in the country, you're going to have people in summer barbecueing and kids playing and making noise, etc. But I will also say that being in my townhouse is extremely quiet so far -- it feels like I still own a house (only without all the worry!). And, I've lived in apartments before, so I know of what I speak.

I will write another review after I've been in Green Meadows for a year, when I see what the summer noise, smells, repairs, etc. are like and what management's response is to all these.

a nice place to live
I have 3 children, and the playgrounds are practically right next door to us. This couldn't have been a more perfect place to live for us. The stores are very close and there's plenty of room for the kids to play. It's not extremely fancy, but it'll do when you have young children running around and making a mess here and there. PLus my kids have plenty of friends here.

worst projects living ever
This is the worst place to live!! The noise is extremely bad and the useless police do nothing because they are to busy hiding to catch people on Rt 51. They will ride right past people being loud at 3 AM and keep going. There are kids and adults partying and playing basketball until 4AM. I have had thing packed before my 1st yr was up, I can't find a place with my sect. 8, so I have been stuck because I don't want to keep moving. There black mold in bathroom, and it is painted over in livingroom. The places are way to small and the apt size stove and frig is the worst. The halls always stink and what they call cleaning them is not at all, the back hall and steps always smell like urine and I have saw human feces there before, the back hall has never been cleaned in all the time I was there. The staff are useless. The parking is totally unbelievable, the only place you have to pay to park in Baldwin is where GMA is, it is $15 per visitor and $10 for you. I was told from borough was so they know who is coming and going. The outside lighting is very bad, you don't feel safe to get in bldg. and you can't see addresses. The plaster in all walls is cracking and bulging, there is no insulation, walls are freezing in winter. The a/c is useless because of apt layout. The washers and dryers are expensive to use and they don't work properly. The drugs are all over. People sit in front of the bldgs and won't move to let you in, the smoke for grills come in and choke you and management won't do anything to stop it. Unless this is your last resort DO NOT move here.

Horrible
I am currently living in Green Meadows apartments but Im looking for a new apartment so I can break my lease. Its horrible. The apartments themselves are fairly decent, but the neighborhood I dislike. Ive had to call the cops on our neighbors directly above us twice because they make so much noise after midnight since the day they moved it. My boyfriend is being harrassed by another renter of Green Meadows. Its convenient for busses and shopping but I wouldnt recommend it for anything else

Not home away from home!!!!
We have had the worst experiences while living at Green Meadows Apts. We have been living here for a while. From the moment that we moved in we were never really comfortable. But it was very quiet and seemed to be a safe place for our child to go up. So we decided to give it a try. But overall service has began to deteriorate drastically. I'll just name a few of the problems that we have had. In the summer you have to deal with the odors from barbecue grills seeping through your windows and the air conditioner. Police giving you tickets for parking on the street which was once free public parking. Warrants for your arrest if tickets are left unpaid. Never ever be late for rent or else your going to court and your left paying a ton of fees. In the winter you have to deal with freezing your buns off. You can't control your own heating, the heat comes from steam radiators. Sensors control the temp so when the temp goes down to about 40 degrees the radiators turn on, unbelievable. One day they said that they had to fix a water main break which was causing the water pressure to be extremely low. Still we have not had any good water pressure in over a year. Mildew was growing all over the walls / windowsills in the bathroom and master bedroom. I could go on and on with the complaints about management and the overall conditions but I'll end up writing a novel. So, I wouldn't not recommend living at GMA if you want to have a peace of mind!!! The only good thing that I can say is that my neighbors are the best part of GMA hands down. But I to will be one of the many families that have pasted through GMA never to return.

Green ghettos is not the place to be.......
I lived there 1 year to finish out my lease. I did not get a full nights sleep the whole time I lived there. Someone tried to break into my apartment when I had 3 weeks left to live there. It's nothing but bad news. I'm sure there are good people who live there and I feel sorry for them. Unless you have a guard dog don't even consider it.

------, ------, Leaking ------!
We occupied a townhome and for the most part, it was okay until the maintenance issues...First, a leaking toilet base that was finally repaired after the 5th call (6 months), then leaking under the kitchen sink, then leaking in the basement that we were told could serve as a den or place where our child could play. And...they have the nerve to raise the rent to $729!!! When maintenence came to look at the basement, they left stating it was ground water. ;-( Still don't understand that one. After all, we didn't request an analysis of the type of water coming in. After all that, there was the screen doors...both front & back, broken. The mail box is almost ready to fall from the door. I lived here as a child for 1 year when it was known as the Knoll's and it was a very nice area at that time. I think that because they accept vouchers now, it has turned into a hoodish area. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound racist by any means...I am a black female myself. However, it is upsetting when someone doesn't respect the area in which they live. We will be moving as soon as our lease expires. On a good note, everyone in the office is polite and I believe they sincerely try to do the best. If you must move here...I guess you must, but take some advice...only stay as long as you have to...Then get out!!!

was very unhappy here
the place seemed like a ------. the police were there often for drugs, loud neighbors, vandalism, etc... I was robbed by a neighbor, I called the office and took the police right to the apt where my things were, and was told there was nothing i could do. Kids run around unsupervised at all hours of the day and night. Parking was bad. I knew many people who were robbed while living here, and I had heard there were rapes as well. I felt very unsafe here and got out as quick as i could

Would be nice if it wasn´t for some of the noisy and ------ neighbors
I have lived in Green Meadows for 3 months now. I moved here because the apartments are nice, not luxury, but nice. Newish carpet and newly painted. They are however a little on the small side. I have had to call the police on several of my neighbors due to loud noise, screaming, arguing after 10pm at night. The rental office staff keeps saying, just keep calling the police and filling out complaint forms, but they are still here and nothing seems to be done. I have a 8 year old son, so the kids being around doesn´t bother me one bit. If u can deal with noisy, ------ acting neighbors, this is a great place, with alot of stores within walking distance, and the school district I must say is excellant. I would recommend if anyone more here to get a apartment on the top floor because maybe then you won´t hear as much noise.

good location, but noisy neighbors
This is a good apartment if you want to be close to everything. The grocery store is right around the corner, mall is about 10 minutes away, Target 5 minutes, near the buslines...The apartments are nice, not earth shatteringly beautiful, but clean and nice, newish carpet, all painted. Small pets are allowed. The staff is helpful and maintenance is fairly prompt...laundry is kind of expensive, 1 dollar to wash/dry...Here are the NOT SO GOOD points: depending on where in this huge community you get an apartment you may have noisy neighbors. There are a TON of children in this neighborhood, so if you absolutely cannot stand kids, this place wouldn´t be suited to you. Also, this is a diverse community (mixed races). This community is NOT section 8 but accepts section 8 vouchers, so if you´re snobby, don´t move here. Since the grocery store is very close, residents have a tendency to walk to the store and wheel the carts over to the apartments with their groceries...so there are stray shopping carts everywhere, which is rather ------. If you want a good location this is a good place, but if you´d rather live in a smaller apartment community, I would not move here. I myself will move as soon as my lease is up because of the too large size and because it is, as aforesaid, a bit noisy....
