The place is filthy
I moved into Woodhawk in October of 03. From day 1 problems began to arise. My toilet was stuffed after the first time I used it. The maintainence guys had to replace it because their plungers were too weak to fix the problem. I mean, get a good plunger for God's sake! I've taken way bigger craps thatn that one.
I had the priviledge to see multiple puke piles throughout the parking lot on Sunday mornings.
Roaches were everywhere. I could barely sleep at night because I could hear them in the walls.
I decided to move out after I saw human feces floating in the pool.
I never did see my security deposit.

I guess the place wasn't that bad after all.

good so far
I've lived here for a few months now and so far everythign has been ok. I will admit that I dont have enough hot water to shower but really thats all so far! I didnt even need to turn my heat up high this winter but maybe because I am on the top floor. I also have not had any problems parking or with office staff. I really like it and want to stay.

After living here for one year, we moved out. It was not by choice, I accepted a new job out of state. If it were not for that, we would have been happy to renew our lease. We enjoyed our time here and had no problems at all with the staff. After moving out, we had no problems getting our security deposit back. They did keep $20.00 because we forgot to clean the broiler, but I thought that was fair.

I said it before, and I will say it again, "I think that a lot of the people who are complaining about the staff are making their own problems. If you treat people rudely, then expect rude treatment in return." We had no difficulties with the staff at all.

I wish the place we were living in now, for twice the rent we paid here, was as nice.
Stay clean
I lived at the WHC from March 03-04. My apartment flooded multiple times from poor drainage. The complex did replace the carpet in the affected room once and the padding two more times after additional flooding. Each time we were forced to move all of the rooms belonging out of the room for aprx 5 days while a large fan dryed the rug making the apartment smell like..well really bad.

Then on move out we were told the rug was replaced due to cat stains.... I guess the maitance people ripping out part of the wall and replacing it due to dryrot from water damage wasn't evidence enough???

Poor customer service and high rent
I agree with the past reviews in general, but wait till you read this one. Tyson was attacked one night by Tiger. I mean Tyson - my bulldog. As I walked over to the clubhouse to lodge a complaint, I felt something gooey under my feet. Cat poo!!! Dog poo I could understand. The other morning I went over to drop my mail in the mailbox, and I could not as the Jaguar was parked there, which was blocking the mailbox. I observed that the lady who owns the car, drives in from McKnight, parks it every morning there and then takes the bus into the city. That is one reason why parking is not available for residents as Carol and Michelle have sold off the spots. I was fined the other day by Debtor the owner as I had left the garbage outside the door to the dump. I could not help it as the machine was broken down. I even tried to turn the machine by hand but to no avail. I did not realise that the rent was high about 1150$ for a one BR/one bath apartment. They sucked me dry and high

The Woodhawk Club, what a nightmare.
My experience with this place was a nightmare from day one. The place was not ready to move into when I rented the apt. But due to time constraints with my new employer in Pittsburgh, I had no choice but to accept the apt. as is. I did fill out a move in check list and noted all the problems I saw at move in, all of which they tried to charge me for at move out. First, the lack of available parking even within 2-3 city blocks of my building was an issue. There was poor lighting of the parking area. Huge holes and cracks in the parking area, at one point, they painted a line down the middle of the parking lot/driveway through a 3 and a half inch deep hole. Next the lack of internal building maintenance - the hallways were filthy and in need of painting. The trash compactor was always breaking down leaving heaps of trash outside the building going up the main driveway. No hot water in the winter months due to the furnace using the hot water tank for a heating source. They have a monopoly on cable, and used to have one on highspeed internet service. Both services were poor and spotty at best. They also constantly billed incorrectly and double billed. The amount of rent charged to the tenants of The Woodhawk Club is silimar to other upscale communities within the Pittsburgh area. However, the upkeep of this community falls sadly short of the service and maintenance that such rates would imply. I have brought these deficiencies the the attention of builiding maintenance and office staff on numerous occasions to no end. My main desire to purchase a home was a direct result this.

Beware when moving out
After waiting 2 months, and after repeated phone calls about my security deposit refund, I was then informed I would not be getting it back due to the condition of the apartment. I had been given the run-around for over a month.

First, the apartment was spotless. Any charges were going to be extremely minmal.

Second, why couldn't they tell me about this the first 4 times I called? Why did it all-of-the sudden come up after 2 months? Seems awfully fishy to me.

Don't Believe all the negatives you see!
I have lived at The Woodhawk Club from March 2001 to present and i have to say that my experience there has been totally enjoyable. Yes, there are times when people are too lazy to pick up after their dogs, especially since there are dog boxes and bags located all over the property! The maintenance staff works very hard to keep the property up, and occasionally there my be a delay if a part is needed for something. But at least they let you know, instead of making you wait like some othere companies. The landscaping is beautiful and they put so much work into it! I have a 2 bedroom apartment here and utilities are not as bad as people say. I have paid maybe $135 (gas and electric combined) in the winter. People do not understand that this is not Florida and your apartment is not going to be 85 degrees in the winter! If you need it that warm, move! YOU ARE IN PITTSBURGH!!! All in all my experience has been fantastic i would recommend this apartment community to anyone i meet.

Run, Run as fast and as far away as you can
Woodhawk showed me one unit and tried to rent me another. The one they showed me was beautiful and clean. the one they tried to rent me smelled like mildew and mold so much that it made your eyes burn. It also had a broken up sidewalk and a huge stain in the middle of the lobby. I use a wheelchair and they told me I would have a wheelchair accessible unit. The one they tried to rent me had a step from the parking lot to the sidewalk and several steps from the sidewalk to the front door of the building. They built a ramp over the steps that was so step it was a hazard to EVERYONE - not to mention slippery in rain and snow with no sides to keep anyone from falling off.

Needless to say, I didn't rent the unit. When I went to look elsewhere, there was a couple looking at units at the same time I was and they were talking about how Woodhawk showed them one unit (same one they showed me) and then rented them one that had severe water drainage issues.

Horrible management and bad apartments
These were without a doubt the worst apartments i have ever stayed at. The management was probably the most frustrating part. They weren't helpful and slow to respond.

The Woodhawk Club
I have lived at the Woodhawk Club apartments now for the past three years. They were owned by a different company when I first moved in and then about 2 years ago they changed to Deaktor Development. I have to say that the quality of service has gone down a lot. The team of office administrator are not pleasant to work with. I have had several problems as far as having items fixed. They are quick to respond to the problem but it takes them days, sometimes weeks to actually fix it. The only good thing that I can say about the Woodhawk Club is that they are conveniently located. I am trying to leave when my lease is up... and I would not recommend them to anyone else.

Millipedes painted over water damage OLD AND SCARY!! BEWARE of this PIT!
The setting is an adult shop filled neighborhood and the apartments are old, dirty and scary! THe man next door yelled at my two children because they were bothering his dog. Water damage on the base boards has been painted over, but not even patched or fixed. THe cabinetry looks like if you set anythign on it the floor will crumble. THe carpets are GROSS! There is no high speed internet. We lasted less than one week here and LEFT! And this is the nice corporate apartments that were presented to us. HORRIBLE!! I will never forget this experience and warn you to avoid the sleepless nights we spent here listening in fear to the noise and sounds from all around.

Winter Blues
Get used to paying high utility bills in the winter time if you're planning on moving in. The walls are paper thing and when the wind blows your curtains will blow with them. My heating bill for an average winter month was $93, and that's keeping it at 68 degrees. Their solution??? Putting plastic sheeting over the windows. I've seen no difference in the heating bill. The thermostats are out dated and are constantly competing with the outside temps.

The maintenance staff is great! They are kind and will do everything they can to make your stay better; however, there's not much they can do without ripping the walls down and putting in new insulation.

The price is very high, coupled with high utilities you're looking at over $1100 at the Woodhawk Club for a 2 bedroom apartment. To be honest, it's not the friendliest neighborhoods.

There are a lot of people moving out (all of the time), which should tell them something. The new management is greedy, and quite honest, not very friendly. I would not recommend this property based on the fact that you can find the same ammenities at another location much cheaper. They need to revamp their apartments!

I agree with the last review
When I looked at the apartments, the lady that showed me around ask me where I was moving from. I said Baltimore and she made a unpleasant face and said, "There's a lot of ------ there?". I was very offended and I am white but don't judge anyone based on their skin.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!
I lived here for a year and it was the worst experience ever! One night in November during a storm huge pieces of the roof flew of and did some major damage to my BMW!!! After politely talking to the office as well as their insurance company about it (I figured they would have some type of rental or property insurance for things like this) they decided that it was an ACT OF GOD (exact words) and that they were not giving me ---- for it! After getting estimates for repairs and paint I had to pay the $4,000 bill myself! So my advice is if you live here you better hope that nothing happens to your property b/c u will be responsible.. Or if u have the extra hundred dollars a month get a garage if u have a car that you like!!
