A terrific place to live!
Moving to the Woodhawk Club changed my life. After living here a year, I looked at other places -- just to compare. I could not find another apartment with comparable amenities in this price range. I don't have to shovel snow, plow the street, or mow the grass. Every minor problem I've had has been remedied in less than an hour. I live on the ground floor and am not bothered by noise or anything else. I love it here, just signed for my second year. Michelle and Carol handle the front office in a professional and friendly manner. I never feel like I am intruding, and they handle everything I ask. It is truly a joy to live here. Don't worry, be happy!

Wonderful Place to Live!
I haved lived in the Woodhawk Club for going on 4 years now and have yet to say one bad thing about the property or its staff. I have read some of the other testimonials and am thouroughly shocked by what some people have said. Do people not realize that an apartment is still yur home and should be treated as such?! If you had a dog, and he pooped in your yard if you had a home, would you not clean it up? Some people are just too lazy to care. The maintenance and grounds crew work very hard to keep the grounds looking nice and clean, and believe me, i have seen worse places. Yes, sometimes it may be a day or so before some things are fixed fully,(depending on the circumstances,) but you would wait alot longer for say, a plumber, electrician, etc and you would have to take a day off of work in order to be there any where from 8am - 4 pm when they came. In this community, they always ask if they have permission to come into the apartments, unless there is a dire emergency. Privacy is well respected here. The amenities are fantastic also! Where also can you go to tan at 2am and not pay for it! And for those who gripe about the weather, wake up! It's Pittsburgh for goodness sake! If there is 15 inches of snow in a 12 hour period, it would take you a little while to shovel out also. But you don't have to do this. The service team does! For the person who complained about the noise, i wouldn't be suprised if he was the one making the noise. From what i know, and i live on the first floor with 2 other apartments above me, the only noise i hear is maybe the closing of the patio door. There are quiet times between 10pm and 8am everyday, so things are very peaceful up here. Maybe this person couldn't play their stereo the way they wanted at 50 decibles so they decided to complain. Every apartment community you go to, you will find something that may not be to your liking, but that is apartment living. If you don't like living in an apartment, buy a house. And as far as the office staff goes, they have never been anything but nice and helpful to me. Everyone has bad days, including the person who wrote nasty things about here. Once again though, i have had nothing but a very pleasurable experience here and i plan on being here for a couple more years to come.

Great place to live.
I have lived in apartments all over the east coast for most of my adult life. When I transferred to Pittsburgh I needed a place quickly that was safe and well taken care of.
My experience has been stellar here. The maintenance crew has been exceptional. I would make a call to the office for any small problem and it was fixed early that day. No matter what questions I had the office staff was always knowledable and very acommodating.
Because I run my business from my home I was able to utilize the Club's amenaties, pool, sauna, tanning bed and everything was always spotless. I don't know where the other people on this site lived but I can tell you it wasn't here.
Yes, the apartments are a bit expensive for the area but it has been well worth it to me. I am moving into a house but will recommend this complex to anyone who is looking for an upscale, clean, well maintained apartment. Actually, I'm almost sorry to have to leave. I won't have Rob to take care of minor things in the house, I won't have Andre to do the beautiful landscaping and I won't have Vera with her great smile. Who will I call for answers if Carol and Michelle aren't here?
Take it from me, this is a great place to live.
You're Right
You're not kidding on the review from 3-30-04. The review from delppx has to be from the owner. Now imagine if that is how he speaks about his residents and property - this place must be just awful under the new management!!

Good experience
I lived there my first year of grad school and besides being too expensive and too far from school, I had no problems living there. I was treated well by the staff and all my maitenance problems were handled very efficiently. I also had no trouble with parking or feeling safe coming home late at night. The only noise problem I had was pounding from the little kid upstairs but I didn't feel it was a huge deal. The new management also got new cable through a dish network and you are able to get internet and other features through this.

Greedy Management-Poor Office Staff = Stay Away!
Generally the apartment complex itself isn't that bad. The new management Deaktor Developement nickel and dime everything though. The maintenance Staff are ok. The Complex is let down by its poor office staff, and the inability to enforce pet rules. That means not to be surprised if you see quite a bit of dog piles (to say it politely) all over the property, however you can (supposably!) make some cash if you spot someone not picking up after their dog. (Where is the camera?)
Be very carefull when you move in that you write down EXACTLY everything that is not in order with the apartment and note how clean it is, that means every single stain or rough spot should be written down. This is no exxageration. They will definately charge you for any imperfection when you move out.
Also watch out for being stuck with a high rent when your lease is up for renewal. I found if I was a new renter I could have had my apartment for a hundred dollars less.
I haven't had any problems regarding mold, but I must say the apartment was constantly full of dust......Allergics watch out!

they will rip you off, have a good lawyer before you move in
I moved in and my apartment was full of mold!!! They agreed to move me after months of begging. Then when I moved out they charged me for all these other expenses to get back at the cost of moving. They are not fair renters at all!! Do not move in unless you are homeless

unsafe overpriced hellhole!!
The place has gone downhill since the new management!!! Let me be brief and to the point, here are just a few of the things wrong: 1)Unattended kids overpower the pool in the summer. 2)No parking and forget parking near your apartment on the weekends!3)the management is rude and never return phone calls, if things are broke you are better off fixing it yourself 4)the walls are too thin, you can hear your neighbors sneeze 5)gym too small and you will never be able to use the equipment 6)dangerous conditions in the winter. It takes them forever to shovel and plow. The steps become very icy and slippery 7) if you think you got a deal on your apartment they will try to go up to the listed price and increase 50 in addition to that.
so overall, would I ever come back to this place? NEVER. It has been the worst place I have ever lived at!!! Overpriced!!!

Great Place for a Reasonable Price
First, I just finished an exhaustive search of DC apartments (moving b/c of my job). I found A LOT of negative stuff written - often w/o good reason. I have lived at the Woodhawk Club for a year and it is one of the best places around. One, I'ved lived in Philly and two, most of my friends find my apartment pretty amazing. So here is an honest review b/c franly, most of what has been written about this place is just untrue (although it also represents a minority of the people here).
PROS;
1) very clean 2) construction is pretty good (i've built houses before); please note i dont call for repairs, i do them myself - if i thought i was going to need more work than that, i wouldnt have moved here 3) friendly staff (if they are rude, its probably b/c you are giving them a hard time; READ your lease) 4) fireplace 5) w/d in unit, dw/gd, central air/ceiling fans, lots of countertop space, patio/deck, extra storage (free) 6) gym open 24o, basketball/tennis courts, pool (btw, people have to suck their guts in b/c the average person in pittsburgh is freaking FAT), tanning bed - they are nice to have and VERY few places have these extras - ok, so maybe the pool isnt the best (its always been clean / it is decent size), they dont change the tanning bed bulbs (i dont personally use), but you freaking have them, if you need bigger/brighter/etc, go PAY for them at a separate place - btw they do have a hot tub, but i dont go in - ive seen some of the bad protoplasm that does) 7) location, yes, mcknight road is busy (see below), but there is pretty much nothing you wont have w/in a 5min drive - home depot, a mall w/ other strip mall areas, beer/liqour stores, grocery stores, plenty of restaurants and only a 15 min drive to dahntahn - i have to drive to literally almost the other side of the 'burgh to get to work; at 7am, it takes me 30 min - did I mention I'm moving to freaking DC; people - quit your crying about traffic; another example, my girlfriend lives even farther, it takes no more than 30-45 min in rush hour to get to her place. 8) no bugs/ants/et al 9) good walls, whoever heard people having sex (?relations? - are you freaking 8years old??) they must have been swinging from the chandeliers; yes occ i hear loud music - but after around 9-10pm its quiet 10) safe place - kids play around, they have a baseball field in the back

ok, the CONS
1) location - to get to this place, you have to travel down mcknight road from 79S/Mars exit - there is no exit off of 79S for McKnight road - annoying, but only b/c i visit my parents in erie

2) parking - ok, too many cars, no assigned spaces, garages are $75/mo and often i walk a couple hundred feet to get to my apartment if i come home after 6-7pm; yes this sucks - but not enough that i would want to leave

3. traffic - not that bad, but sometimes its annoying when you want to run to the grocery store - i hate to wait in traffic, but its manageable if you go at offpeak times

4. pets - occ people dont clean up after their dogs, it sucks, but what are you going to do - i see stupid people; they're everywhere, they dont even know they're stupid;

5. cost - its a little pricey for the one BR, but me and my roommate make decent money and have no problems; plus, as i mentioned im moving to dc, this place is a bargain, esp if you factor in all the other stuff - its not that bad; true, you do have to pay for cable, and not having broadband sucks; but the cable was just switched and we now have hbo, skinemax, etc, etc

1 - dont work for the company, guess im just dont expect to be spoon fed everything; pittsburgh is not expensive - get a real job and then move to a real city

2 - thank you "anonymous" - i hide behind my screen name - and who are you - didnt see you leaving a calling card - who has the balls now

3 - probably not a lot of positive reviews (there is only fifteen total out of the HUNDRED or so apartments) b/c most people find the reviews of people's whiny sob stories too hilarious to respond to

If someone like - delppx- doesn't us an e-mail address, don't believe them
If you've noticed a guy who calls himself delppx
wrote a review that contradicts everyone else's bad review for woodhawk. But he doesn't have the guts or the balls to put his real e-mail address.

If it was me, I don't think I would believe anyone who hides in the shadows of his screen name.

Oh, and if he built your house, I would sell it ASAP, cause if he thinks woodhawk is constructed well, I would hate to see what he builds.

Smelly, but not all that bad
When my neighbors cook, it makes its way through the heat vents into my apartment. I wouldn´t mind if it smelled good, but it´s Indian quisine and very smelly.

The Cable sucks!! If you live in an apartment that doesn´t have a clear shot for a dish you´re screwed. Ownership said we´re getting a new cable company; but that was 4 months ago.

Other than the smelly neighbors and cable company the community isn´t bad. It is expensive, but if you catch them on a good day you can ask them for a discount on a few months rent.

the service is terrible
I would not recommend this place to anyone ,because the service staff is terrible. Tha maneger has very bad temper, and the hosting staff don´t really care about you. I think they should all be fired and new faces are needed to take their places.

No BroadBand OR CABEL
In this apt. no broadand internet option is available (neither cabel nore DSL).

Also management has some agreement with a mom-and-pop cable provider so you can not order At&T (Comcast) service (you missout out on those great deals).

LACK OF BROADBAND is my biggest problem.

Great place with good location
This is a great place to live. The apartments are beautiful as well as the entire community. It is always kept up and landscaped nicely. The community offers great amenities including nice size swimming pool (compared to most places) with plenty of chairs to lounge in and deck area with grills to cook out, nice clubhouse, 24 hour: fitness center, raquetball court, hot tub, and tanning bed. Also a decent good sized tennis court with basketball hoops. There is plenty of sidewalk area and open space for children to play. The office staff are always willing to help with your needs and questions. Whoever says they aren´t are either forgetting that people have bad days and things other than work on their mind, or had a bad experience because they couldn´t pay rent when rent was due (which you have until almost the end of that month before actually being evicted which is nice). THe maintnance staff are unbelievably friendly and curtious. They do their job fast and efficient. The only complaint is the noise and clean up of the dogs, but for a dog lover the place would be great. They provide everything needed to enforce clean up of animals and unfortunately a couple lazy people can give someone a bad opinion. AS for the apartment itself, there is plenty of storage, nice sized patios/decks, beautiful fireplaces, and overall kept up nicely and very attractive. The location is great if you can handle a busy street with crowded intersections. But it´s worth it because you have every store and restraunt you could possibly need within 10 -15 minutes of you. Also downtown Pittsburgh is only about a 15 minute drive. Overall I would highly recomend this place, but only if you are willing and able to pay the extra for the great service and amenities.

Crappy & Expensive
If you want to pay way too much for an apartment and want to hear your neighbor fart or snore three apartments away, then this is the place for you! Staff very unconcerned about noise - more interested in collecting your rent check each month. The place is very thinly built and noise is a common problem. You can smell the grease from McDonalds down on the corner, which is nice, plus the swimming pool will fit about four people if you all suck your guts in. There´s also a storage place at the back of the apartment, so you get traffic and huge moving trucks coming and going at all hours. Steer clear of this place please!

Overpriced
I´ve lived in upscale apartments that cost less with much better service. High turn over in crabby apartment staff. Maintenance are good and efficient - if the staff gets the info to them. Cable is horrible and costs fortune. Appliances are old and useless! Pet owners rarely clean up after pets. Limited parking. Hot water even in individual tanks limited. Roofs blew off this winter. Told we could use club house free of charge - very wrong - high rental fee! Very loud upstairs neighbor - thin floors. Construction of condo´s is a pain and new McDonalds totally blocked entrance - nightmare. Too close to business - might as well live in city. Driving on 19 at Christmas - horrible - 20 minute drive turned into 1.5 hours! Long list of fizes necessary when moved in - especially front door lock and porch light.
