    Roach infested and horribly managed by Laura

    This apartment complex is full of roaches and the office charges pest control fees and doesn't even perform pest control services. The people at the front are liars who say one thing to your face and then say something else months later trying to charge you more money than you owe. HORRIBLE place to live, stay away.

            The office never ever answers the phone. We got a noise complaint when we weren't even home when our neighbors upstairs are constantly having loud parties. My electric bike was vandalized because the gate wasn't working for months. The parking lot is always full and had spaces painted small enough for a Barbie car. I like our unit, 5 stars for the actual apartment itself, but the community is maybe 3 stars

              The Retreat is a decent place to call home. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. It's 5 out of 5 if you're single and just looking to save a buck or two. The single bedroom units are spacious enough to feel comfortable if you're living alone. With a significant other, 2 BR would be recommended. No problems since I moved in other than the fact my girlfriend rarely comes over because she doesn't find it safe. I like it here and the location is decent, although I wouldn't describe it being in the nicest area in South Austin. Very convenient to South Congress though. The rental staff has been awesome and make me feel taken care of.

                Fast and friendly service, the community is awesome and the complex is currently getting repainted ant it looks fantastic I have really enjoyed living here. It's the only gated community that I have lived in where the gates actually work!!!

                        I recently moved to Austin, Texas, from Ohio, and the process was stressful at first, but thanks to David, it turned out to be a smooth transition. He was incredibly helpful, providing virtual tours of the units and offering valuable insights into the complex and surrounding area. His professionalism and willingness to answer all my questions made me feel confident in my decision to rent here. The property is well-maintained, the amenities are great, and the location is convenient.                               I would not recommend this community. In my time here management has changed different times and while maintenance in my unit has usually been promptly recently that hasn't been the case. Grounds maintenance (gates, lights, etc) has never been properly maintenance. Current management seems to be making improvements but there's a lot of work to be done. Communication is very poor currently.

                                The apartment was not cleaned. The cabinets were not cleaned. The old furniture smell. Cob webs everywhere. The apartment was full of roaches. Roaches of all size. The dishwasher was not cleaned and full of roaches.

                                  My overall experience has been okay. There are several issues I have but they're manageable. When I first moved in the property managers and staff were great. Since then my experience has gone downhill. I hope to see improvement as this new company is figuring things out but every time I engage them I'm questioned if I've renewed because they "can't find my lease". When you call your never able to get an answer and the 1 time you do it's a call back that rarely happens and the office staff doesn't know anything. Maintenance request take far too long, property manager is a little on the rude/aggressive side and there's no on call team that responds to the maintenance emergency line.

                                      Nice community. Great office staff. Great for singles and families as well. Very pet friendly as most of the residents have dogs. For the most part neighbors are very cool and respectful. Management is making some nice improvements to the overall look of the complex.

                                              Dealing with staff has been pleasant this far. I just wish the gates were fixed, the parking wasn't a nightmare for paying residents, and that maintenance gave us 24 hours notice prior to coming to work on something. Otherwise, it's nice and tucked away, despite being so close to IH-35.

                                                It's not the luxury community it once was. Service is poor, broken infrastucture has been allowed to remain unrepaired since Tipton assumed management of the property. Management seems blind to issues and cannot relate to how their indifference degrades the residents' experience.
