The Place apartments is good for a first time renter. But our apartment has had water damage since before we moved in, the maintenance crew pretty much DIYs repairs. The water bill is absolutely RIDICULOUS. The complex overwatered twice a day, to the point where the parking lot has puddles so big you'd think it rained all night. Maintenance is slow, takes forever to get things done unless it's an emergency. The AC unit needs to be replaced, it's so old that even on 90° days, if I even run the dishwasher, it's almost 80°, and I. The summer, makes plans to be gone all day, because my apartment stayed at 80-85 over the summers. My neighbors are the best though. The community itself is fine, it's within walking distance of several restaurants and Kroger, Aldi, and Big Lots are really close too. I put my rent at $950 because that's usually what we pay, after the non-optional valet trash and cable, which is $53 a month, and the water bill which has been a steady $115 a month. Then there's a convenience fee if you pay online with a card. But there is a slightly complicated but cheaper option to do the online money order. Pet deposits are super high, so that wasn't an option for us, and the electric bill is crazy high, for our 822 sqft apartment, over the summer our bill got up to $270. And we were gone most days. Lights off and thermostat set at 80 so we wouldn't overwork our ac unit. The paint randomly starts to flake off the wall, and we tried to use command strips in the kitchen to hang stuff, but the wall was so greasy when they painted over it that the paint just fell off with the command strips. They repainted our cabinets, and after almost two years still haven't finished painting them. One cabinet door was half painted and it's really just a cosmetic thing. Like I said, good for a first time renter, but if you don't pay the extra to get an updated unit, you'll pay the extra in electric bill and waste time trying to deal with maintenance. We will not be renewing our lease again.

These apartments are very nice, the staff was very friendly. I was greeted by two ladies which was very pleasant. I will be doing my application today. They have great prices and nice staff. I'm sure I will enjoy my stay here.

The entire staff at The Place is extremely friendly and professional. The community and apartment amenities are great. I love living there and being able to walk to the restaurants that are close by. Wish I had moved sooner and hope to stay a long time.

I haven't lived here that long but so far is good. My apartment is quiet there's always parking right in front of my unit and it's relatively clean. It seems like a good neighborhood to live, safe, clean, well maintained.

Convenience, yes! Rude management, yes! New appliances, yes! Bugs, yes! Pool, yes! You have to pay, yes! Free cable, yes! Squeaky doors, yes! Worse than north dallas (skillman area), yes! Valet trash, yes! Trash all around, yes! Covered parking, yes! You have to pay, yes! Over-rated rent bc of area, yes! Caulking being used to "fix" apartment, yes! Does caulking work, no! As you can see for every positive, there's a negative, including a few extras. Couldn't list everything.

I haven't had any problems with roaches like some tenant's have but what I will say is that the office staff sucks they are horrible. Every time you look around they are trying to find some kind of way to skeem money out of you. They want to charge you for every freaking damn thing but when you need something it takes them almost a freaking month to get things done. They want their rent on time but when you call about something simple, it literally takes them over a week or two just to fix it. you can call several times and they still take their time on coming. the rent is so expensive and the apartments are defiantly not worth what they're asking. Horrible Horrible Horrible ... Can't wait to move! I wouldn't recommend anyone to move in " The Place Apartments"...NOBODY

Terrible apartment complex. Before signing my lease i asked them numerous times if they had problems with roaches and of course they said no. Sure enough a week after my move in my apartment is FILLED with roaches. You cant even walk around your own house without shoes because more than likely your gonna see roaches running around. i have spent god know how much money on sprays and powders and all the manager has to say is "oh no dont buy sprays they wont help" rather than doing something herself. All she did was schedule biweekly pest control which doesnt even work. It took 3 work orders to get 2 droors fixed that were broken since i moved in. They do very poor jobs with the work orders almost as if they barely fix things just to shut you up. I understand that some stuff isnt in their control like my apartment smelling like smoke because of my neighbors smoking so i dont blame them but it does suck. Today they i got my washer and dryer installed and before even getting to wash it end up the fossits leak everywhere so i cant wash and i call management and she says to shut them off until mondayand theyll come look. very easy for her to say. How am i supposed to wash now? Staff seemed nice at first and now everytime i have to go to the office they make a face as if im bugging like if its my fault they cant keep their apartments running correctly . Im very understanding and try to have patience with them but its getting worse and worse. Unfortunately im only about 4 months into my lease but i cant wait to get out of here .

At first (maybe the first week) it wasn't so bad. Till you hear the gun shots in the alley behind you in the middle of the night and you have your neighbors upstairs fighting like they're killing each other. I've called the cops about 6 times for domestic violence and have even showed them proof and nothing gets handled. HORRIBLE CHOICE in apartments but at the time of moving in it was kind of a last option. Will NOT be renewing my lease and if any of you see this I recommend you to not live here.

I have been a resident quite some time, and this new management is by far THE WORST. Great, we have updated facilities and new paint. But what good is a pool that's been closed all summer and now that's it's open, tells us we are not allowed to bring pool floats or radios!!! Oh, and do not be caught on your patio after 10pm, there is an active curfew now because apparently as adults we aren't to be trusted outside. We are to keep our patios clean and pristine, this includes NO GRILLS. But it is ok for maintenance to leave garbage and appliances at vacant units. Also, if you need a work order performed, you will be lucky if they ever repair it. And when they do finally get to it, the work is shoddy and requires someone to come back and redo the repair. Overall: completely unpleasant, will be moving upon the end of my lease.

Where do I start. We have been here since July 2015 and are anxious for our lease to be up this coming up July 2016. This has been the worst year ever! Our apartment got flooded from our up top neighbors and we had visible mold, it took them them almost 2 weeks to fix it and when they did it was unfinished and left done half a** to where the sheet rock is shown along with the siding. We have recently made a maintenance call with one of the leasing agents to a door that fell off due to their negligence and it has not been fixed. A leasing agent has walked in our apartment and seen the visible requests, it's now been a week nothing has been done. Our fridge does not work and all they do is add freon and say it's fine; plenty of groceries have gone bad. Their main priority is having the grounds look nice since it's now under new management but don't let that fool you. There is a high theft rate and MPD have raided this place twice so far where we have heard and seen them load shot gunshells into their guns doing a drug raid. Living here you might as well live in south Dallas! However if you want better apartments in THIS area I suggest the ones across from them on driftwood Springfield Apartments. We lived there prior to here and it wasn't too bad. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE THEY ARE THE WORST! Contact me for more pictures.

DO NOT MOVE HERE! This place has been a living hell since I moved here. These apartments are infested with roaches, the appliances are outdated, the roofs have persistent leaks, and maintenance is sorry as hell. They should really lower the rent. My lease is up next month and I can't wait to get OUT!! Also, they are under new management.

Beautiful complex, well kept up landscaping. Faulty wiring in unit, breakers blow often. Could use an updating with appliances. They paint over paint when maintaining a unit and getting it ready for the next leaser. The laminate and carpet are very cheap, but better than nothing. Very over priced for badly maintained apartments. Rude service in the past , but new management is okay. Area is unsafe. Cars and units get broken into often.

I've lived in a half dozen apartments in mesquite and this will be the only complex that I renew at. There are a lot of bad reviews on here but you have to remember That it's all about perspective, if your not a snob, and want a reasonable price per sq ft., this is you place. Literally. Down to earth neighbors AND management. And to the poster that rendered to the loud music and smell of weed. Seriously, if you these things bother you, you should probably move into the woods. Because I've lived in 1.50$/sq ft luxury lofts, with fully loaded Amenities, and you'll experience the same things. That's just life, be reasonable. Not everyone Lives as you do. And if you're a perspective resident that smokes pot, Buy some incense. (: 5 stars The Place!!!

I moved in June 2011 and I love my apartment and my neighbors. I've never had any problems except one time when my neighbor was driving up to the apt with his stereo up loud. What apartments don't have that problem. They just sent my letter that my lease is coming up again and I'm renewing. Nice property for the price and nice people and management. Can't ask for much more.

Dear Manager...(From The Jones). A few days ago I stopped by your property and had you hold a unit for myself and my family. The same day that I stopped by your property, I was warned to read the property review. Upon doing so we found that your reviews were terrible. All residents complained of robberies, loud music, and horrible disrespectful management. When I visited the property the things that I informed the leaser that I was trying to avoid are the exact thing that your tenants reviewed and complained about. On that day (Dec.12th) my wife responded to my manager following the manager response to a tenant. Yesterday (Dec. 13) I returned back to your property to discuss the reviews, my concerns, and have my money order returned (minus the non-refundable app fees). Upon my return, your office was closed for a Christmas party. Early this morning (Dec.14)I again returned to your property and spoke to Office Staff or Manager ----, concerning my concerns, the review's, SAFETY, and a return of my money order. ---- argued with me when I mentioned the reviews and my SAFETY concerns, and returning my money order. If seems to me that she should have welcomed me to discuss these issues, since your reviews were so negative. However, she was NEGATIVE, NASTY, DISRESPECTFUL, REFUSED TO RETURN MY MONEY ORDER, AND THEN YELLED THAT ALL SHE HAS TO DO IS STAMP MY MONEY ORDER AND DEPOSIT IT! I informed her that it surprises me that she's willing to stamp and deposit a UN-SIGNED Money Order. TALK ABOUT DISHONEST! But, this will be resolved. I Thank GOD that my wife was informed from a co-worker to read the review before moving. It seems that these reviews and this site HAS Saved Us & Caused Us To DODGE A BULLET! From what I have read concerning Parking Lot Robberies (from nearly EACH REVIEWER) We may Have LITERALLY; DODGED A BULLET. With your failure to have a friendly, respectful, mature adult conversation,& your office staff disrespect, lack of concern, defensive when safety is my main concern...We WON'T be moving here!!!! ****HERE'S MY WIFE'S PREVIOUS POST TO YOUR MANAGER**** From: Anonymous Date: 12/12/2013 Dear Manager. We're the Jones. We've just leased a unit yesterday. Now, we've found this site and I must says it's scary. While I understand that 1 angry resident will vent, there's a lot of bad reviews here about your property. What I truly fear (that your residents have boldly stated) is your crime rate, parking, noise, loud music from residents, and the 26% rating (WOW). As per our conversation, these are the exact things we're NOT looking for. We're quiet and respectful and we require the same from our neighbors. We have no problem with reporting issues to management and local police. Please call us ASAP. (we're scheduled to move at the end of the month Dec. 2013, but after reading theses horrible reviews, we're terrified.)You have our phone numbers and information. Thanks Mr. & Mrs. C. Jones

I have lived in the place apartments for two years this is my honest review: I havent had an issue with any of the apartment staff. Maybe because i dont deal with them often. I pay my rent and keep it moving. Maintenance has been ok....they have always come out to fix anything in a timely manner. But they half --- fix things....I have had to call on a few things multiple times because they would "fix" it and a week or two later ot would be broken again. I told one of the ladies in the office about it and she says "I can put in another work order thats about all I can do" Also when my closet and hallway lights went out I was told that Im responsible for all the lighting in my apartment while im there. Never heard of that before. As for the apartments themselves, they are nice for the price. My neighbors can be quite loud at times. You will sometimes hear loud spanish music...I just found out about a robbery that happened here. There was also a man who commited suicide here. All in all, if your looking for decent apartments for a reasonable price or just need a place to stay for 6mos to a year, I would recommend them. If you are looking for a place to plant yourself for a while, I would cough up the extra money and stay somewhere else.

I had to rent the lower-end studio as that is all I could afford. From the first day, our heater did not work and it took maintenance several days to repair. There was a leak from upstairs that the apartments basicaly patched. Air would seep in from my front door and maintenance's fix was to spray some hard yellow foamy stuff that looked tacky and they never came back to clean it up or make it look nice. The air could never get regulated - upstairs was always too hot and downstairs was freezing (we eneded up moving our bed downstairs due to this problem). The staff isn't all on the same page - depending on who you spoke to you your answer could be different for the same problem. My first apartment experience sure left a bad taste in my mouth with this complex. MD

I have lived here with my husband for about 3 years, from a one bedroom to a 2 bedroom. The parking is so bad where the one bedrooms are in the front, my car got dents on the door from the parking is too close, they open their door and there goes a dent. When we wanted to move to the two bedroom, they showed us the two bedroom that was going to be ready at a later date. We couldn't see the one that was going to be ready sooner because of some lame excuse they gave me. Come to find out after we are moved in there it is roach infested. They act like they didn't know but they have a roach spray company that spray the whole complex that need it once a week. That made matters worse, and we bombed the apartment ourselves. Worked for a short while they came back. My husband truck got stolen in the parking lot, it was totaled. We are so disgusted with the peeling tubs.I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

RENTERS BEWARE.....When I first moved to Texas in June of last year (2012), I decided on moving to The Place because my sister lived there and I did not want to be too far from the only person I knew in Texas. I was shown the apartment by Whitney, and she did a great job "selling" the apartment. I was kind of hesitant because I was living by myself and I did not want to be in a first floor apartment alone. However, I was assured that I was in a safe environment. Once I moved in, I was not so happy with my decision. There was NOT an on-site gym/workout facility, there was NOT a courtesy officer patrolling the area, along with a few other lies in the brochure and on the website. I was greeted on several occassions by racoons and possums sitting at my door when I returned home at night. The police, ambulance, and fire truck were always there and I just NEVER felt safe. There were always weirdos walking behind my apartment (this was scary because my apartment was on the back and there was only a little lake/ditch area behind it). My car was ran into which broke my headlight and damaged my bumper. I reported it to the office, but of course nothing was done. I ALWAYS had troubles with my tub. Something would break inside and it would cause the water to run uncontrollably. I was told that the part was defected and the whole lot that they received from the manufacturer was like that. Obviously they continued to fix mine with the parts from the defective lot because I had this problem about 5 times in one year. One night when I arrived home, there was water all over my bathroom floor because this happened again. I called the after hours maintenance and when the maintenance man finally showed up, after 2 hours, he decided that he was going to just cut off my water and then come back in the morning to fix it. I was really mad and we got into an argument. The next morning, I called the office and Donna tried to make me out to be the bad guy for arguing with him because he had been there for many years and blah, blah, blah. No regards to the fact that he was rude and tried to leave me without water for a night. After my rent was raised, I decided I'd had enough. I decided I was going to move. When I went to give my 60 day notice, they did everything to try to convince me to stay. They even said they would not raise the rent. My mind was made up and I moved. Please, please, please... Do NOT make the mistake I made and move here. This place is NOT what it is being portrayed as.
