Do not live here
For the love of God, STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUILDING. Management is whatever, but the building itself has some very messed up problems with A/C, Water, and electricity. They turn off the water every 2 weeks from 9am-3pm, turn off the AC in the dead of summer, and they even turn off electricity once in a while as a way of “restoring” the building. In the time I’ve been there (8 months) there have been 23 occurrences of doing maintenance on the building, where it makes it essentially insane to live in the apartment, and I can’t even imagine what that’s like for older residents or pets. The apartments themselves inside are ok, but the showers are trashy, and the whole apartment gets hot as hell even with AC on (I’m pretty sure it only goes to about 70 degrees) and it doesn’t even turn on until Mid May because of their boiler system set up, not to mention there has been mold on the AC units… So, if you don’t want to be sweating constantly starting in the springtime, at risk of health or left with no water once every two weeks, then I’d definitely pass this place up. Whatever good reviews have said, I’ve realized it’s only about the office workers, or the tour of the building itself, which was nice, but it does not actually show how miserable it is living here, and it doesn’t make up for the ridiculous environment this building offers up. I mean, in all honesty, the people giving this place 5 star reviews confuse me to the point where it makes me believe they are either bots, mutual friends making booster accounts to promote the apartment as “great”, or they are people that are genuinely delusional to say the least. Luckily, I’m able to stay at my girlfriend’s place for the rest of my lease because of how uncomfortable it is living here, and since they nip you with 2.5x the monthly rent payment to break the lease, I can’t be paying that now, so looks like I’m at least fortunate enough to be in a much better, cooler, structurally sound building that doesn’t evoke spooky “The Shining” vibes for the time being, thank God. Leaving this building will be a true celebration on my end.

It has been average. Like everywhere else there's a give and take. Seems like the apartments are constantly being improved upon but the building itself and the workout equipment in the gym could be kept up a little better.

My apartment has been riddled with maintenance issues since I moved in in Dec. Be warned A/C will not be available until May in most cases and the recommendation is to put ice in front of a fan or a cold towel on your neck/wrists. Elevators are constantly out of service and if you park on the G level you have to enter the garage from outside if they are down. Maintenance likes to “quick fix” issues around the apartment so prepare for that. Ex. I had to get a portable A/C unit in my studio apartment and the window is sealed by cardboard and painters tape. I got my unit on a pricing glitch and would not be able to stomach paying the ~$1600 for a unit in this condition. Best of luck to anyone who decides to live here!

Don't move here unless you have to. The staff constantly shut off the water for "emergency maintenance." There's constant construction all around the apartment. The quality is poor. The location is noisy. The doors slam loudly and can be heard inside the apsrtments.

On the few occasions where I have had issues with my apartment Anthony has always been quick to rectify my issues. I have experienced nothing but professionalism from Anthony while living here. And I would highly recommend Alister Arlington Ridge for anyone currently looking for a new apartment.

Great leasing team members. They are more than prepared and happy to answer any questions you may have. The building looked in great condition and it’s on a east to access area. Everything looked clean and organized.

The location is great for car owners, the management team are awesome, the pool is spacious with the grilling area next to it, and the rental price is great. The infrastructure is poor but theyve been working on it continuously, and the gym is kinda small.

He should me a beautiful apartment that fit all of my requirements—budget, floor plan and amenities. He was so helpful and responsive to all my questions. I am applying for that apartment now!

I enjoyed the tour we had from Anthony. He was very knowledgeable on the apartment we saw and answered all my questions. The residents there were fairly personable with him and that was comforting. All in all I liked the experience I had!!

I've lived here one month. Thus far, I'm very happy with my decision to lease at Alister Arlington Ridge. This is an older, well-maintained building with good bones and updated apartments. My top floor studio (which is actually more of a one-BR) with new appliances, and a view of the Army-Navy golf course, is an excellent value, particularly given the location and an in-unit W/D. I've experienced no genuine noise issues. Okay, the elevator is old and a little growly, but then again, so am I. Other tenants are friendly and considerate. No weird smells or smoke. Even the dogs are polite. The common areas are clean, the grounds and entry feels dignified and sedate without presumption. The parking set-up is flexible and reasonably priced. The location is more strategic than it first appears. Access to 395 is immediate. Using interior streets, one can quickly get to Ballston, Roslyn, Pentagon, Ft. Myer and/or onto 66 or 7 to Tysons or Dulles My commute to Springfield is only 12 minutes. It does lack immediate walking proximity to eateries or nightlife, but it's close enough, and I like the fact that I'm not living in the midst of stressed out, self-important people jostling for a parking space. My Shirlington-based colleagues are jealous. The lease arrangement was straight-forward. My leasing agent, indeed, the entire management team, has been completely responsive to my needs, honest, and more than fair in all matters. Maintenance came when I needed them, which has not been often. I am content here.

There are many positives about living here, but the negatives are a significant bummer. Positives: the building is high up and you don't have to worry about flooding. The underground garage is a great, secure option for parking, especially in this area where there's a lot of theft of people stealing tires off of cars when parked outside (noted this with other apartment complexes in the area with outdoor parking). The building is pretty and is a fun, older building. The lobby is beautifully decorated. The building doesn't seem to have any structural issues as an older building. The location is good being close to 395. One has to have a key fob to enter, which is good for security. Receiving packages is easy and secure (Amazon lockers). The staff are great and very efficient. The pool is nice and has a lot of landscaping/fence to block the highway. Negatives: The non-smoking policy is not enforced AT ALL and there are an EXCEPTIONAL amount of people smoking marijuana, almost constantly. Some go outside, but MANY do not even BOTHER and smoke INSIDE. This is an extreme negative. This brings down the overall quality of experience of living here and makes it feel less safe than it should feel. There is no way to anonymously report people who are doing this. As others noted, this makes it not a great place for families with kids. The other main negative is that repairs are constantly being done. Electricity will go out for an hour, and water for basically an entire day!!! This occurs frequently and gets old fast. As another reviewer mentioned, there's not really a lot to do within walking distance. This is a bummer. There have also been instances of crime close by, in the neighborhood behind the complex. If the issues of smoking, constant repairs, and security in surrounding areas were fixed, (and there were shops within walking distance) this would be a great place to live in a fun, old building.

Decent price for the area in terms of driving location. There’s barely anything in walking Distance. Alister upcharges you every opportunity they can - move out charges are absolutely ludicrous, we hired move out cleaners and still ended up owing over $300 for a clean apartment. The pool is dirty on the side of a highway and if you lose your wristband the charge is $75 each. Tenants are not friendly. Gym is extremely small, during COVID no precautions were enforced. Wouldn’t recommend. Was counting down the days to move out after the first few months.

Moved in a few days ago and having a great experience so far! Maintenance has been super quick to fix any issues, and the walls are not thin so it is really quiet. My studio is the perfect size; I love the huge walk-in closet and the separate room for the bed! It also had brand new appliances, carpet, and kitchen cabinets! The windows are also huge and provide a nice light in the living room. The only downside seems to be guest parking. There is not really any place for a guest to park overnight, unless you pay $10. There does not seem to be street parking nearby.
